Senate Healthcare Reform-Abortion Vote Tuesday 9/29

Call Senate Finance Committee Senators-Urge them to support Senator Orrin Hatch’s amendments, which EXCLUDE abortion funding and protect conscience rights for healthcare workers.

On Tuesday, 9/29, members of the US Senate Financ ial Services Committee will vote on amendments to exclude abortion coverage from Sen. Max Baucus’ (D-Mont) healthcare bill. Without these amendments, the Baucus bill explicitly includes abortion funding and subsidizes health plans to cover ALL elective abortions. Such subsidies go well beyond the status quo of preventing federal funds from paying for abortions or subsidizing plans that cover abortions under current laws governing Medicaid, Employee Health Benefits Plan and the State Children’s Health Insurance Plan.

Please call these key Senators Monday, 9/28.
Urge them to support Sen. Hatch’s amendments to keep government funded abortions out of the Baucus bill:
