Dear KKIM Family,
Please prayer for Pastor Vic Tafoya of TrueLife Fellowship as he goes in for surgery this Wed. The Doctor’s will remove a tumor from his arm. Please pray that it is not cancer. Pastor Vic was in my office on Friday and we prayed together. Pastor Mark Scales from Heights Christian Church was also in my office at the same time we all had a wonderful time of conversation and prayer.
Man Does not always have the answers…………
The other day on New Mexico News and Views we played a sound bite from Billy Graham’s 1949 Revival in Los Angeles. He said, “No man has the answers for these times.” That still holds true today. Jesus Christ is the answer.
That got me thinking about all the “Nothing Noise” going on with the election. It also got me to thinking about how quick we are sometimes to give an answer to someone who is going through a very rough time.
Many times we must just be quiet.
We always do not have the answer.
We must not pretend to have the answer.
We must wait upon the Lord.
Too many times we feel we need to speak and have an answer even if we are not confident it is 100% correct.
In Chuck Swindoll’s book on Job he writes………..
The Book of Job is not only a witness to the dignity of suffering and God’s presence in our suffering but it is also our primary biblical protest against religion that has been reduced to explanations or “answers.” Many of the answers that Job’s so-called friends give him are technically true. But it is the “technical” part that ruins them. They are answers without personal relationship, intellect without intimacy. The answers are slapped onto Job’s ravaged life like labels on a specimen bottle. Job rages against this secularized wisdom that has lost touch with the living realities of God.
The late(and I might add great) Joe Bayly and his wife, Mary Lou, lost three of their children. They lost one following surgery when he was only eighteen days old. They also lost the second boy at age five because of leukemia. They then lost a third son at eighteen years after a sledding accident, because of complications related to his hemophilia.
Joe writes in a wonderful book, The View from a Hearse, (Which has been changed in title to The Last Thing We Talk About):
I was sitting torn by grief. Someone came and talked to me of God’s dealings, of why it happened, of hope beyond the grave. He talked constantly, he said things I knew were true.
I was unmoved, except I wished he’d go away. he finally did.
Another came and sat beside me. he didn’t talk. he didn’t ask leading questions. He just sat beside me for an hour and more, listened when I said something, answered briefly, prayed simply, left.
I was moved, I was comforted. I hated to see him go.
Friends have done it right when those in the crucible hate to see you go.We must leave Job in his misery for now. We’re the onlookers. Had we lived in his day, there is no way we could say, “I know how you feel.” You don’t. I don’t. We can’t even imagine. But we do care. Our presence and our tears say much more than our words.
Words have a hollow ring in a crucible.
What a wonderful writer Chuck Swindoll is…….The other day on my show as I was talking to Karen Rowe live on the air……..I just stopped talking…….and started to cry………as my silence and tears said more than any words I could speak at that moment.
Silence……..Tears………Praying………..say it best many times.
Even if we do not personally know some one………have never met them……….Prayer is a wonderful thing to do for them………it brings comfort.
The answer is in Jesus Christ.
Thank you for stopping by and your prayers are much appreciated, even if we have not met!
In Christ’s Love,
Dewey Sharon and family
