Dear KKIM Family,
It is such a blessing to be with you all today!
May the PEACE and STRENGTH of the LORD be with you and yours!!!
A couple of thoughts today……….
You are what you do………Read that again! You are what you do! I read that in Rahn Larson’s column in the Windom, Minn newspaper, my hometown paper, Rahn was quoting a writer from the Boston Globe in wondering if Steve McNair was a good person or a bad person…….it is so true…. think about yourself………you are what you do! Do you love and worship the Lord? Do you read God’s word? Do you love your family? Do you cheat? Do you Lie? You are what you do?
Years ago as a student at Brown Institute where I took radio and TV…….I was taught that you had to repeat information at least 6 times before it would sink into the minds of the listeners. I always have kept that in mind when being on the radio and doing the CUP! I asked Pastor Mark Tross and Pastor Leonard Navarre how many times they have found that they have to repeat their message to get it across to their congregation. Both said it takes really about those 6 times to do so. In a society that is in love with instant gratification and loving 15 sec. sound bites on TV and quick reads…….it is hard……..But please pay attention and share with your friends. These simple words………Are you unhappy? Are you uneasy? Look in the mirror….You are what you do! You can change!
Also pray over these words……….These words should grab your attention!!! They did mine!!! WOW!
How you act is a reflection on God—from the words you use and the way you live to the choices you make. You are either enhancing God’s reputation or detracting from it.
WOW! That will make a guy think! Read that over a dozen times and let it sink into your mind and soul.
I want to thank all of you who have expressed love and care for Gary. It’s interesting that all who responded are women. Angel’s of God with much wisdom!
I want to PRAISE GOD for the family we have here at the CUP and KKIM! It is a loving caring family in our Lord Jesus Christ!
I want to thank Chris and Eric KKIM listeners who are traveling in the North Dakota area who are going to stop by and see my first boss in radio, Oscar Halverson. Oscar is over 90 now and in a nursing home in Williston, ND. I will never forget the day Oscar came to Brown Institute and hired me to come be a radio announcer at KGCX in Sindey, Montana with studio’s in Williston, North Dakota. It was the only radio station to have studio’s in two states and two time zones! Oscar did many nice things for me while I worked for him………like fill up my gas tank from time to time……..replace my transmission in my old Dodge Dart…….Great memories of those days…..I also met some of my best friends while working for Oscar……..Craig and Anita Price……..they took me and made me part of their family! KGCX helped make me the announcer I am today! It’s been almost 35 years now and I still feel the love!
Over the past several weeks we have been talking about how the meaning of words have changed in American Society………like setting records………how was the record set……..what is a lie? a lie is a lie right?……..cheating is cheating right? It seems today that even in the Church we give excuses to what is right and wrong. One of my hero’s Harmon Killebrew Hall Of Fame Baseball player now says since so many have cheated in Baseball why keep records at all??? Baseball is a tarnished sport forever by the actions of the players and owners………..
Manny Ramirez was back in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup on July 3 after a 50-game suspension for being a drug cheat. On Wednesday night, he hit his fifth home run since his return. He is now at 538 for his career and has surpassed Mickey Mantle for No. 15 on the all-time home run list.
“To see his name above Mantle’s on the list … that’s a shame,” Harmon Killebrew said.
Killebrew was No. 5 on the all-time list, one behind Frank Robinson, when he retired with 573 home runs after the 1975 season.
He held that position for 26 years, before being passed in this decade by Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Ken Griffey Jr. Alex Rodriguez hit No. 572 on Sunday and soon will drop Killebrew to 10th in career home runs.
Or, as a reporter asked this week at the start of a phone conversation, “Does it bother you that another steroid/drug cheat is ready to go past you on the all-time list?”
Harmon paused and said: “I think it would bother anybody, but what can you do? Nobody is really doing anything to address what steroids did to the game, what it did to the game’s records.
“As far as I’m concerned, Hank Aaron is the all-time home run champ, and Roger Maris should still have the [single-season] record at 61, but Barry Bonds is the name you see in the record book.”
The great slugger of the Twins paused again and said: “You wonder if it’s worth it to have a record book?”
Baseball is what it has done………cheat.
The only record book that counts is the Lord’s book!
Yes Harmon…sad but true..I am afraid most all sports record books have been tarnished by cheating and lying. The flesh……..Most sports fans will turn their nose up on what I just wrote..but it is the HARD TRUTH! The owners and players have lined their pockets with what they were after, MONEY! The joke is on us fans! It is time to call out the Owners and Players and release all names that cheated and suspend them for life! But our society is afraid to tell the TRUTH and face the FACTS! What an example for the youth of our country! Sadly most will put their heads in the sand on this one!
Let us look in the mirror today and look inside ourselves……..When we look at ourselves and check up on our personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ………we can begin to see who we are……..Most problems start with ourselves not others.
Let us pray…………
Oh Lord, Let us all be good examples to others as your son’s and daughters……..Let us be watchful of our words and actions……Thank you Lord for this opportunity to get together today. In the name of Jesus, AMEN!
In the Love of Christ, Dewey Sharon and family
