Dear KKIM Family,
After dissention arose among the Revolutionary leaders about the proper form of Government, and when all hope seemed lost, Benjamin Franklin arose and said, “Have we now forgotten that powerful friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance?” The Founders convened a three day prayer meeting and America was born.
What a very emotional day of prayer yesterday!!! WOW!!! We prayed for Zach and here is the latest………….What a happy Mothers Day for Diana!!!
PRAYERS DO WORK……today is National Day of Prayer, I sent an email out this morning asking over 50 of my dear friends(And The Cup) to pray for my son Zach, who suffered a stroke a couple of weeks ago, at 11:53am I received a text from my sons girlfriend, who knew nothing of the email I sent out asking for prayers, her text said, So Zach is doing great!!!! His headache is gone, dizziness is better, he has strength! It’s like he went from 30% to 70% in 2 days, he’s really getting better!
Thank you all for your prayers!
Sincerely,
Diana Vendresca
WOW! Another blessing……..Jim Bolin from my hometown of Windom, Minnesota stopped into KKIM to see me yesterday! I had not seen Jim in over 30 years!!! What fun it was too see him, we had a great visit! Jim invited me to our 1974 class reunion in August. Jim was an outstanding athlete in his day! if I am to go back to Windom, I would love to share God’s word with my hometown…….please pray for the Lord’s will to be done. Paul Dokken, Lori Lokken…….your names came up in our conversation…..you read the Cup and I would love to hear from you both! Have not heard from you guys in ages! I am finding out more people in Windom read the Cup than I thought! PRAISE GOD! I want to thank the Windom newspaper for their help in getting the word out about KKIM and the Cup! www.windomnews.com
Another blessing!!!! Happy Mothers Day to all the Mother’s out there! I had the best Mother in the world. Grandpa and Grandma Caraway took her name from the Bible, Ruth. My Mom served others…..she was not here to be served, but to serve and my wife Sharon is the same way! I also had the best Grandma’s in the world, Grandma Deena Moede and Grandma Lena Caraway! You sure can tell I am from Minnesota Huh? Grandma Caraway said I would always be a preacher!
I will never forget at Mom’s funeral in 1995 at the American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Zeh doing the eulogy, he cried through the whole message. Mom had written a message for Pastor Zeh to give to us kid’s…it was about giving our lives to the Lord! It is something I carry with me to this day. My Mom had such a “quiet strength” about her.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Victoria Cannavale!!! Vicki, as I call her celebrates her birthday tomorrow. Vicki owns A-1 Travel my very first KKIM Ministry Sponsor when I became Manager. Sharon and I love Vicki and her husband Lew very much! The best vacation Sharon and I ever had was on a cruise with Vicki and Lew.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Pastor Mark Tross!!! What a blessing Mark has been in my life! Mark has been such an AWESOME supporter of KKIM! We love Mark and his wife Juliette.
Here is our tribute to Mother’s……………
MOTHERS: EVERY YEAR IS THEIR YEAR
author unknown
adapted by Dan Bottorff
Prayer for the Day 5-9-99
First United Methodist Church of Westfield
This blessing is for all the mothers who have sat up all night
with sick toddlers saying, “It’s OK honey, Mommy’s here.”
This blessing is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they may
never see. And the mothers who took those babies– forever to be
their own children.
This blessing is for all the mothers who attended ball games,
recitals, rehearsals, etc. etc. and who said, “I wouldn’t have
missed it for the world,” and meant it.
This blessing is for all the mothers of Kosovo who fled in the
night and can’t find their children or can’t feed their children.
Creator God, what makes a good mother anyway? Is it patience?
Firmness? A soft lap?
Or is mothering what is in her heart?
Is it the ache she feels when she watches her child disappear down
the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?
The jolt that takes her from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2
a.m. to put her hand on the back of a sleeping baby?
The need to flee from wherever she is and hug her child when she
hears news of a school shooting, a fire, a car accident, a baby dying?
Yes it is so.
So this blessing is for all the mothers who sat down with their
children and explained all about making babies. And for all the
mothers who wanted to but just couldn’t.
This blessing is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in
the grocery store with frustration and despair.
This blessing is for the mothers who show up at work with milk
stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.
This blessing is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook
and their daughters to speak up with pride.
This blessing is for mothers who put pinwheels, teddy bears, or
flowers on their children’s graves.
This blessing is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who
haven’t the words to reach them, and yet have never put them from
their heart.
This blessing is for new mothers stumbling through diaper
changes and sleep deprivation. And mature mothers learning to let
go. For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. Single mothers
and married mothers.
And this blessing is for all of us who will move beyond
sentiment into actions which support mothers and mothering persons
in all of their life-giving and life-nurturing roles. Amen
A Mother’s Love
There are times when only a mother’s love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a mother’s love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we’ve dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a mother’s faith
Can help us on life’s way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.
For a mother’s heart and a mother’s faith
And a mother’s steadfast love
Were fashioned by the angels
And sent from God above.

National Day Of Prayer Wrap…………
NM NEWS & VIEWS FOR THURSDAY, MAY 7, 2009
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER:
I wasn’t in studio today to hear all of the news, so I’m just going to give you my views on National Day of Prayer this year. For the past two years, my wife, Juliet and I were the NM State Coordinators for NDP and prior to that I was two years as the City Coordinator for Rio Rancho. KKIM Station Manager and NM News & Views Host, Dewey Moede had come to our first Rio Rancho Prayer Breakfast and also shared up at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe for our State Capitol Event, two years ago and also last year in Santa Fe to prayer for the media and I have to tell you, both times he set the room on fire. It was up in Santa Fe, where he first announced the FM 94.7 Station and it’s just been a blessing ever since. This year I started of at 7:30am for the NDP Prayer Breakfast, which was hosted by Rev. Judith Nowers and then it was off to the Santa Fe Trail to make sure everything was set up for the Main Event inside the Capitol Rotunda. It really wasn’t anything for me, other than to set up the “Prayer, America’s Hope” Poster and placing the Governor’s Proclamation for all to see. We started with worship by the Olie Hodges Group and then Pastor Jack Webb from Destiny CHurch in Albuquerque opened in prayer, right before the NM State Police presented The Colors and sang the National Anthem. This was another Norman Rockwell moment, like when I covered the TEA Party in Abq. The Nohorable Mary Herrera, our Secretary of State read Governor Bill Richardson’s Proclamation for NDP this year and then we all read President Abraham Lincoln’s Proclamation. The Main Speaker at this year’s event was Senior Vice President of Focus on the Family, Tom Minnery, who joined Dewey Live Today via phone. Tom shared a prophetic message and also spoke at the Leadership Meeting, after the Roundhouse event, about same-sex marriage, the Hate Crimes Bill and other social justice issues. He is the author of the book, “Why You Can’t Stay Silent” and also serves on The Board for the Alliance Defense Fund. It was wonderful to meet Tom, his wife, Debbie and Brad Miller, who is the Director of the Family Policy Council for Focus on the Family. We’re hoping to line up an interview with Brad soon on KKIM, so keep listening in at AM 1000 in Abq., FM 94.7 in Santa Fe and around the world on the internet at http://mykkim.com . Former Congressman Steve Pearce, Son Broadcasting President, Annette Garcia, former Lt. Governor Walter C. Bradley, Pastor and former Congressman Bill Redmond, Pastor’s Marcus McClain, Glen Strock and Miki & Jose Vasquez were also in attendance today. Praise God that we here at KKIM have the honor to work with such men and women of God on a regular basis. I was able to catch Elder Doug Brown, the Abq. City Coordinator being interviewed by Dewey today too. He’s a great Brother In Jesus and let me give a BIG THANKS to Susan Cosma, as well, for her holding the first NDP event at the Sunport today from 10am-2pm. All in all, it was a blessed day, but it doesn’t stop here, so keep praying daily for our government, media, education, church, family, the military and businesses around our state, because we all need more of God. Be sure to visit http://nationaldayofprayer.org for more information year round and hopefully we’ll see more people getting involved in seeking God, while He may be found.
Many Blessings,
Rev. Mark F. Tross

While there will be no White House observance for the National Day of Prayer, members of Congress and a group of faith leaders will convene on Thursday to affirm America’s spiritual and religious history.

“America was birthed in a prayer meeting led by our Founding Fathers,” said Mathew Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, in a statement.
“After dissention arose among the Revolutionary leaders about the proper form of Government, and when all hope seemed lost, Benjamin Franklin arose and said, ‘Have we now forgotten that powerful friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need His assistance?’ The Founders convened a three day prayer meeting and America was born.”
Rep. J. Randy Forbes (R-VA) has introduced America’s Spiritual Heritage Resolution to recognize the vital role prayer has played in the nation’s founding and history and to express support for designating the first week in May as “American Religious History Week.”
Forbes is joined by 24 cosponsors of the resolution and will participate in a bipartisan press briefing on Thursday.
This year marks the 58th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer.
A recent announcement by the Obama administration indicated that the president will be signing a proclamation for the prayer day but will not hold a formal event at the White House as his predecessor, George W. Bush, traditionally did.
A formal White House observance for the annual prayer day was also not held during the Clinton administration.
“We are disappointed in the lack of participation by the Obama Administration,” said Shirley Dobson, chairwoman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force. “At this time in our country’s history, we would hope our President would recognize more fully the importance of prayer.”
According to White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, Obama prays daily and on Thursday, the president will pray “privately,” as reported by Fox News.
Black Ministers Arrested on National Day of Prayer
Thursday, 07 May 2009 11:46 Adrienne S. Gaines News – Featured News
May 7, 2009 — Although President Obama did not host a National Day of Prayer observance, two African-American ministers prayed outside the White House today, even though it led to their arrest.
The Rev. Johnny Hunter and the Rev. Stephen Broden, both longtime pro-life activists, were taken into custody briefly after holding a “prayer picket” outside the White House to publicly oppose the president’s decision not to participate in the National Day of Prayer (NDOP).
“[It’s] the National Day of Prayer, and the president refuses to participate in it?” said Hunter, who leads the Life Education and Resource Networks (LEARN) in Fayetteville, N.C. “Before at least presidents were nice enough to open their doors and let some Christians come in and pray. … Not this one. So since he wouldn’t do it, we took the prayer to him.”
The ministers said they knew they were risking arrest but held signs saying: “Jesus Christ Is Our Lord and Savior. BHO is not” to protest what they see as a dangerous trend toward broader abortion access and acceptance of homosexuality that has occurred under the Obama administration.
“We believe this republic is under great duress right now and stress, and we believe prayer is the means by which we can change things here in America and in this government,” said Broden, pastor of Fair Park Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas.
“… We prayed that God would either stay the hand of judgment or quicken the hearts of men and women of faith for them to recognize that they need to come to the streets, they need to come to the public square and make it clear that we are not in favor of same-sex marriage, we are not in favor of this scourge … [of abortion], we are not in favor of the kind of trickery and gamesmanships that are being played in the house of Congress and the house of the Senate. We are fed up, and we are tired of what this nation is doing and what are leaders are doing relative to their role and responsibility for protecting our freedoms.”
The ministers joined some 2 million Christians, who met in at least 40,000 venues nationwide to pray for the U.S. A national service was held this morning in Washington, D.C., led by NDOP Task Force Chairman Shirley Dobson, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson and Bible teacher Beth Moore.
The event was broadcast live on GOD TV, Sky Angel and at the NDOP Task Force Web site. It will re-air at 7:30 p.m. PDT during another prayer event in Los Angeles.
“The fact that up to 50,000 communities will have public observances of prayer is strategically very important because it points to the awakening of the believing body of Christ that is going on,” said Gary Bergel, president emeritus/editor of Intercessors for America in Washington, D.C.
“That’s what we know we’re laboring for, the restoration of the church as the ongoing daily house of prayer for all people. … Not only for all men and women to come to know freedom and redemption through Jesus Christ but all in authority, all heads of state, that we could live quiet, peaceable, worshipful, enterprising, free lives here”
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said President Obama would pray privately on the NDOP. The president also issued a proclamation recognizing the day and calling on Americans to “to pray in thanksgiving” for the nation’s freedoms and blessings and “to ask for God’s continued guidance, grace, and protection for this land that we love.” (Read President Obama’s proclamation.)
Christian leaders widely decried Obama’s decision to break from President George W. Bush tradition of holding an official observance.
“We are disappointed in the lack of participation by the Obama administration,” Shirley Dobson said. “At this time in our country’s history, we would hope our president would recognize more fully the importance of prayer.”
In addition to praying for the nation, faith leaders and members of Congress were to hold a bipartisan press conference today to affirm America’s Christian heritage.
“America was birthed in a prayer meeting led by our Founding Fathers,” said Mathew D. Staver, founder of the law firm Liberty Counsel and dean of the Liberty University School of Law.
“After dissention arose among the Revolutionary leaders about the proper form of government, and when all hope seemed lost, Benjamin Franklin arose and said: ‘Have we now forgotten that powerful friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need His assistance?’ The Founders convened a three-day prayer meeting and America was born.”
Twenty-four members of Congress were to join Staver at the press briefing, including Rep. J. Randy Forbes, R-Va., who on Monday introduced the America’s Spiritual Heritage Resolution to recognize the role prayer played in the nation’s history. The measure also calls on Congress to designate the first week in May as “American Religious History Week.”
The legislation and the press conference are aimed at countering Obama’s recent statement that Americans “do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.”
“The United States Supreme Court has acknowledged that America is a ‘Christian nation,’ that we are a ‘religious people,’ and that our ‘institutions presuppose a Supreme Being,'” Staver said in a statement. “Yes, Mr. President, America was born on a Christian and Judeo foundation. At critical times like these, we ought to heed the words of Benjamin Franklin and humbly ask almighty God to bless America.”
Last week, prayer leaders Cindy Jacobs and Dutch Sheets called on Christians to help “turn the nation back to God” by praying on April 30. On that day in 1863, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation calling the nation to humble itself “before the offended Power,” to confess its national sins and to pray for “clemency and forgiveness.”
The prayer effort was to continue through the NDOP, when intercessors were asked to intensify their prayers for national healing and renewal.
“Let’s come into agreement with what President Lincoln said and let’s make a statement to this nation, to the spiritual powers that are trying to steal from us our Christian heritage, and let’s say: ‘The war isn’t over. We are not going to give this nation away, and the culture war isn’t over,'” said Sheets, pastor of Springs Harvest Fellowship in Colorado Springs, Colo. “God is going to help us reform this nation. We are going to get it done.”
This year is the 58th annual NDOP, which President Harry Truman signed into law in 1952 after the Rev. Billy Graham led a crusade in Washington, D.C. In 1988 President Ronald Reagan set the observances on the first Thursday in May.
In March, the Obama administration asked that a lawsuit claiming the NDOP violated church-state separation be dismissed, the Associated Press reported. The administration argued that the tradition dates back to 1775 and that most presidents have invoked faith in a higher power.

We tell everyone about KKIM and that it’s the only HONEST news source presented through the Biblical lens.
Lotsa love,

Buenos Dias Dewey,
I was also saddened to read about the Bibles that were destroyed. There is no doubt that our government and military have abandoned our Christian principles and have forgotten or just don’t care about what made this country great. As you may well know, there is a 1$ coin that the US postal Services puts out that no longer has “In God We Trust,” maybe it’s for the best. This country has abandoned its foundation, which is Christ only. I also ask myself, why haven’t the pastors united to bring the people together in opposition to all these attacked? I know there are a few pastors that are being faithful, but for the majority they have no doubt cowarded. I believe without a doubt that the final days for this country as we have known it are upon us. I have all the hope for those we can reach for Christ on an individual bases, but as a country, it has greatly diminished. The positive is that persecution always purifies the Church and the Lord knows we are in need of that more now than ever before.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
We must not ever forget that God is more interested in our character than our comfort. God is more interested in our character than our gifts. God is more interested in our character than our plans and intentions. Our nation has forgotten the character of God and His Word. It is all about character to HIM!
Praying for each and every one of you: pray for me as I fly back to ABQ. I tell you all about the most wonderful memorial service for a most wonderful friend upon my return.
God bless,
Leonard
