NM News & Views for Tuesday, March 10, 2009 This is what you missed if you were not tuned in at 4:30 yesterday………
NEWSMAKER OF THE DAY:
Rebecca Shuman, Executive Director for The Arc of New Mexico joined Dewey today to speak about an up coming “Make A Difference” Workshop, to be held on March 25, 26. For more information on Arc and this event go to www.arcnm.org . Let’s face it folks, the world would be a better place if more people volunteered and gave back to our communities. Mother Teresa always said that she was ministering to Jesus and the bible is very clear that whatever you have done unto the least of these, God says, you have done it unto Him, so let’s love God, our neighbors as ourselves and one another as He loves us! Let’s prayerfully and practically invest in people’s lives, especially since the stock market isn’t doing so good lately (in case you haven’t noticed).
DEWEY‘S ESPRESSO CUP:
Letters are pouring in against Manny Aragon and Dewey is letting the truth be known, so if you want to hear the truth, keep listening to NM News & Views every weekday from 4:30-5:30pm Mountain Time (it‘s the ONLY FULL HOUR of News & Information on the radio in ALL of NM, so be sure to tell everyone you know about us). Nobody is perfect and we want to be forgiving, but there’s no reason to go out of our way for a guy who deliberately set out to bilk taxpayers of $4.2 million during construction of the Metropolitan Courthouse in Albuquerque. Well, it’s not the Metropolitan Opera House, but the fat lady has sung and people are urging U.S. District Judge William Johnson to hand Aragon the maximum sentence. You reap what you sow, so let’s be good citizens and sow our votes into some good soil in future elections.
VIVA LA FRANCE:
Pastor and former Congressman Bill Redmond chimed in on Senate Bill 638, which he says (and I quote), “will indoctrinate our youth” and I couldn’t agree with his use of wording more. Our NM Watchman, Jose Vasquez wants you to imagine a bill being passed that would require 15 minutes a day of bible study for 13 years. Bill quoted a well known Frenchman today who once said that America was great, because they were very religious, but if America ceases to be religious then it will also cease to be great. Of course he was talking of our Judeo/Christian values and what the bible calls “True Religion,” looking after widows and orphans.
