Dear KKIM family,
Sharon and I are praying for you all. We see your names everyday here on our email
address book. We pray over your names every time we write the Cup! It is 4:30am here in New Mexico and we are praying! Please pray for us. We love you all.
Share with each other’s troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
WOW! Sharon and I are really getting hit with allergies, as many here in New Mexico are. It has started early this year. It is so dry here………..KKIM’s Frank Haley reports…….
This is the driest start to a year since weather record-keeping began in Albuquerque, according to the National Weather Service.
A trace of rain fell twice in January and once in February, but none of it was enough to measure at the Weather Service rain gauge.
That is the first time Albuquerque has racked up zeroes for January and February since record-keeping began in 1892, according to Ed Polasko, who tracks winter precipitation for the Weather Service’s Albuquerque office.
The last measurable precipitation fell Dec. 26 0.17 inch. That makes 66 consecutive dry days. The Albuquerque record dry stretch was in 1902, when we went 108 days without measurable rain or snow from Jan. 31 to May 19.
The dry spell coincides with the late onset of La Nia, the Pacific Ocean pattern that tends to push the storm track to our north. That is exactly what has happened since December, Polasko said.
I am getting so much good feedback on KKIM news coverage. Frank Haley, Pastor’s Mark and Leonard do an outstanding job. I also want to thank all of those who keep feeding us news leads.
Don’t forget to DRINK THIS ENTIRE CUP! Jose our New Mexico Watchman has an update on Legislation at the Roundhouse and we also have a mailbag full!!
Here is an update on Gail………..I WANT TO PRAISE GOD FOR ALL THE ANSWERED PRAYER HERE AT THE CUP!!!!!
Dewey,
Wanted to pass on the gratitude and thank you’s from Gail. She called me last night to get my Mom and Sister’s addresses. She said there were so many people that she didn’t even know who sent their prayers and thoughts to her through a card etc. What she didn’t know, was about you and your following. The thousands of people throughout the world who read and pray. This is a THANK YOU from Gail as well as myself. She starts chemo next week and bought two brand new wigs. She is excited to be able to wear these different wigs, after losing her hair. She has such Faith. Thank you Jesus.
God Bless all of you,
Nicole
Thanks Nicole, you are so faithful in your updates. Let us continue to be faithful in our prayers and praise!
Let us pray for Shane………..
Dewey, please add Shane to your prayer list.
He was admitted last Monday evening after getting results from a liver biop to Dallas Baylor. He was going into liver rejection. It has been four years since his transplant and has done so well with it. They say when it has been this long it is very difficult to treat. He was on steroids for five or six days. They were being rejected. They did another biop this a.m. or putting in a pick this afternoon. We will get the results of the biop mid-afternoon.
Some liver counts have dropped some and others have increased. It looks now like they will be putting him on another medication for the rejection. It has some pretty bad side effects, but then he has had some of the same in the beginning four years ago. As Mother always said “we Hamil women are survivors”-she always said also “she was a tough old bird”-well, Shane is, too.
I know he is in God’s wonderful loving hands-doesn’t keep his Mama from worrying and hurting, too. Your Mom always said she would give things to the Lord to take care of, then take them back and worry some more-I do, too, but is that not normal?
He has wonderful doctors and good care at Dallas Baylor.
Much love-Pat O.
We are praying for Shane, that he be healed. Please keep us posted Pat.
Sharing with you the Weekend to Remember is so fun………it has helped me be a better husband and father. I would invite you ladies, whose husband’s might not drink the cup……share it with him. I got this note after yesterday’s quick cup on marriage…………….
I want a man like that. 🙂
Thanks Dewey!!
Blessings,
Denise
I happen to know that Denise is single. I am praying that a Godly man comes into her life. That is what we are talking about here today……..Godly men……..Praying that men will be the men that God intended them to be.
We hope you can share this with your spouse…….also Remember a marriage is like reading the Bible……..if you have to dust off your Bible……..you probably have not paid attention to the word of God and your marriage like you should.
Let us pray……….
Dear God,
Remind us once again that YOUR will never leads me where YOUR grace won’t sustain me. In the Name of Jesus, AMEN!
I can look back at my darkest periods and realize that these were the times when the Lord was holding me closet. But I couldn’t see HIS face because my face was in his breast——crying. John Michael Talbot (Me too!!!)
A Godly husband sacrificially loves his wife.
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her…….In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church. Ephesians 5:25, 28, 29
A Man cherishes his wife by:
Being trustworthy. Are you using discernment? Discernment is such a wonderful gift from God.
Please read this definition of discernment…..it is not of the average mind.

dis·cern·ment
Pronunciation:
di-ˈsərn-mənt, -ˈzərn-
Function:
noun
Date:
1586
1 : the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure : skill in discerning 2 : an act of discerning
synonyms discernment , discrimination , perception , penetration , insight , acumen mean a power to see what is not evident to the average mind. discernment stresses accuracy (as in reading character or motives or appreciating art) . discrimination stresses the power to distinguish and select what is true or appropriate or excellent . perception implies quick and often sympathetic discernment (as of shades of feeling) . penetration implies a searching mind that goes beyond what is obvious or superficial . insight suggests depth of discernment coupled with understanding sympathy . acumen implies characteristic penetration combined with keen practical judgment a director of reliable box-office acumen.
Making her load lighter, not heavier. Look around guys……..
Listening to her.
Praying with her. Sharon and I make it a point to pray at the very least ONCE a day. We are a very different schedules.
Putting her needs ahead of your own.
A Godly husband nourishes his wife by:
Helping her develop and utilize her gift and abilities.
Helping her fulfill her purpose and dreams.
Showing her and telling her he loves her.
Making romance a priority.
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. 1 Peter 3:7
A Godly husband leads his wife.
But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. 1 Cor. 11:3
A Godly Husband’s leadership includes providing for his wife’s needs by:
Taking the initiative to meet his family’s material needs.
Managing the family’s finances wisely.
Making sure his wife and children are taken care of first.
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8
A Godly husband’s leadership includes protecting his wife by:
Taking the initiative to meet his family’s emotional and spiritual needs.
Keeping her safe from physical harm. The speaker said to us men of about 250…Tim Muehlhoff……….that 2 to 3% of you men are abusing your wives! Abuse and pornography is a problem even in the Church!
Internet pornography has become a five-billion dollar a year business, and a growing number of young children are being exposed to it. National studies show the average age a child first sees pornography online is 11, and 90-percent of eight- to 16-year-olds have viewed pornography on the Internet, most while simply doing their homework. That’s why Robert Peters of “Morality-in-Media” says it’s important if you’re a parent of a child at home to have filtering software on your home computer. Peters is disturbed by the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision earlier this year not to review a Philadelphia judge’s ruling that blocked the Child Online Protection Act that went into law in 1998. That law was designed to limit kids’ access to indecent material on the Internet.

Commitments Shape Your Life
by Rick Warren
Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives you should be living! 2 Peter 3:11 (LB)
*** *** *** ***
You don’t have to understand all the implications of your decision when you choose to follow Jesus. You simply need to respond to his invitation, to make a commitment to follow Christ.
Your commitments shape you life more than anything else. Your commitments can develop you or they can destroy you, but either way, they will define you.
Tell me what you’re committed to and I’ll tell you what you’ll be in twenty years. We become whatever we’re committed to.
It is at this very point of commitment that most people miss God’s purpose for their lives. Many are afraid to commit to anything and just drift through life. Others make half-hearted commitments to competing values, which lead to frustration and mediocrity. Others make a full commitment to worldly goals, such as becoming wealthy or famous, and end up disappointed and bitter.
Every choice has eternal consequences so you need to choose wisely: “Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives you should be living!” (2 Peter 3:11 LB).
Christ likeness comes from making Christ like commitments.
Here is an update from the New Mexico Watchman……….
Dear Friends,
We were blessed last Thursday with the defeat of Senate Bill 12 the Domestic Partnership bill. It is vital that we thank God for this victory and that we thank our Senators. Please write, email and call those Senators and express your appreciation. (See Update below for a listing.)
As you know, as long as the Legislative is in session, there is a vital threat to our Christian values. Below is an email from Mr. Patrick Fort, a lawyer, a legislative analyst and a Christian brother. Patrick has made us aware of SB 439 Domestic Partner Health Insurance, a law that puts domestic partnership language into New Mexico state law by referencing it through group health insurance. He makes a very good argument against its passage by explaining it is not an issue in this state. See below
We will begin monitoring this bill along with other. For the remainder of this session, time is our ally. The next three weeks should go very quickly as this legislature grapples with the budget and the myriad of 800 plus bills they have managed to generate.
God bless you for addressing SB 12 and thank you for your concern, interest and involvement.

Subject: SB 439 puts Definition of Domestic Partners into NM Law under disguise of Group Health Insurance
1. SB 439 (see below) does not mandate that group health insurers provide group health insurance to domestic partners, but only if the employer of the domestic partners requests group health insurance coverage for them.
2. A similar bill was introduced in 2007 by then Rep. Peter Wirth and the 2007 FIR listed most all of the health insurance companies in NM already offering group health insurance coverage to domestic partners. The definition of domestic partners came from the group health insurance companies. (See UNM group health insurance policy for domestic partners coverage at pp. 77-78, http://www.phs.org/wcm/groups/public/@phs/@php/documents/phscontent/wcmprod1029886.pdf
3. Access for domestic partners to group health insurance is not an issue in NM.
4. But access is being used as cover to put the definition of domestic partners into NM law under disguise of group health insurance to show state “approval” for domestic partners.
5. SB 439 received a Do Pass 3-2 in SPAC on 2/19/09 and was to be heard in SJC today (2/28/09).
SB 439 DOMESTIC PARTNER HEALTH INSURANCE
A. An insurer that provides group health insurance pursuant to Chapter 59A, Article 22 NMSA 1978 [health insurance] [or Chapter 59A,=2 0Article 23 NMSA 1978 (group health insurance)] [or Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Law] [or Nonprofit Health Care Plan Law] shall make available, upon an employer’s request prior to issuance, delivery or renewal, coverage for domestic partners of employees who work or are expected to work an average of at least twenty hours per week over a six-month period. Nothing in this section shall be construed to require an employer to offer or provide coverage for domestic partners of employees who work or are expected to work an average of at least twenty hours per week over a six-month period.
B. As used in this section, “domestic partners” means unmarried partners over eighteen years of age who:
(1) are in a mutually exclusive, committed relationship;
(2) have shared a primary residence for twelve or more consecutive months;
(3) are jointly responsible for the common welfare of each other; and
(4) share financial obligations.”

Dewey,
A couple of months ago I heard a program over the air on your FM radio station on how to get a prodigal back home. Could you please let me know how I can obtain this information. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your attention.

Hi Dewey,
Blessings my friend. Glad you are feeling better. Need a favor: Can we get John Paul to promo our “One Nation Under God” prayer meeting at HCC this Friday night at 7:00 PM? Here is the info:
This Friday night at Heights Christian Church, gather with the body of Christ in Albuquerque to pray for our government, especially our state legislators. I think you will agree that our nation and state are in deep trouble and only prayer to our Almighty God can lift us out of it. So join us for a time of intercession at 7 PM, and bring a friend.
Thanks, Dewey. I’ll see you later today. – Pastor Don
Let us pray…………
Dear Father in heaven,
May we never lose the wonder that there’s more to life than meet’s the eye. In the name of Jesus, AMEN!!!
