Dear KKIM Family,
PRAISE GOD, We have already had 79 new visitors in Jan. to the CUP!! Having a cup with us! WOW!
On that note let me share this with you………….13 of those 79 have put us on their favorite list!!!!
Here’s another reason to read the CUP…………It’s no surprise that we are influenced by the moods around us…….But now a study shows that people we don’t even know, like the many who have a CUP with us each day, can help make us happier. And I have been told by many of you that very same thing.
According to the study, you can be six degrees removed from someone and still catch that person’s good feelings.
In other words, happiness is “viral”, and it actually can spread not just from one friend to another, but to friends of friends of friends.
This is what researchers at Harvard Medical School and the University of California-San Diego found when they analyzed the social networks of 4,739 people who had filled out a
questionnaire about how happy they were.
How AWESOME is that!!! That is just the feedback I get from so many of you here at the CUP! It also is the same feedback I get from listeners of KKIM! One big family!
So when you read the CUP and listen to KKIM, think of the many friends you have in CHRIST!!!
And if you have not dropped us a line in awhile……….please do………….introduce yourself to your many friends.
May God always lead your way.
Thank you all who sent a Anniversary greetings! Lord willing we will post some of those this week. Sharon and I had a wonderful time together!
We received a note from Nicole about Gail. Please keep her in your prayers.
Dear Dewey,
I wanted to write and ask for all the prayers we can get for Gail as she goes in for very invasive surgery on Tuesday. Tomorrow(Monday) is her birthday and we are having a party for her. She is such a great Gal and having big understandable issues of FEAR. Sam and I have been talking about how we can’t get her off our minds.
Please ask for continued prayer.
God Bless
Nicole
The following is taken from Rick Warren’s book, “The Purpose of Christmas” I finished the book this weekend. It was a gift from the kid’s for Christmas……..and what a GIFT!!! I hope the following brings you as much peace as it did me………oh by the way…….Nicole will you please share this with Gail and let her know we are all praying for her. By the way, I have to say that Rick Warren has such a heart for the Lord and for the Lord’s people. God has given this man many gifts.
JESUS OFFERS YOU THE PEACE OF GOD
Once you make the pace with God, you’ll begin to experience the peace of God in your heart and in mind. The more you pray, the less you’ll panic. The more you worship, the less you worry. You’ll feel more patient and less pressured. The Bible promises, “You, Lord, give true peace to those who depend on you, because they trust you.”
What robs you of your peace? Most of the culprits fall into one of three categories: uncontrollable circumstances (like illnesses, deaths, and layoffs), unchangeable people (who refuse to cooperate with your plan to change them), and unexplainable problems (when life seems unfair). People respond to these peace robbers in one of three ways: They try harder to control everything, but they’re guaranteed to fail at that. They simply give up with a fatalistic attitude, feeling controlled by their circumstances. Or they gain true peace of mind by responding to situations the way Jesus did and depending on his Spirit to empower them to do that.
You’ve probably heard of the Serenity Prayer, which was made famous by Reinhold Niebuhr, but you may have not read the entire prayer. The first third of the prayer is often quoted and written on posters. But to experience the serenity mentioned in the first third of the prayer, you need to follow the steps laid out in the rest of the prayer:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it, trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
The path to the peace of God comes through living and enjoying one day at a time, accepting what cannot be changed instead of worrying about it, trusting in God’s loving care and wisdom, and surrendering to his purpose and plan for your life. Jesus makes this promise: “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
From Dewey: Let us all give our lives completely to JESUS!!!! Let us turn it all over to HIM!!! EVERYTHING!!!!! Let us all pray together.
God Bless you all, Dewey Sharon and family
