Good Morning KKIM Family!
From John Maxwell’s Leadership Bible……..
1. Not everything that happens conforms to God’s will and wishes.
2. Nothing that happens gets overlooked by God.
3. Everything that happens will ultimately be addressed with justice.
4. Nothing that happens should distract us from continuing to respond faithfully.
How about this wonderful letter from a friend of Sam( Reader of the Cup and made the statue of Ken Curtis (Festus on Gunsmoke) for Ken’s town of Clovis, California) who also knew Ken Curtis. I thank the Lord for our growing family in Christ!
Hi Dewey,
I just received an email from my dear friend Sam, who makes the statues of Ken Curtis and the cowboys etc. She is extremely talented and I have been friends with her for about 35 years. She is such a doll.
I know your a Ken Curtis fan, as am I. I work at Vons grocery store (Safeway) and have been with them for 27 years. Ken used to shop at our store. I loved him. He used double coupons and was a great shopper. I used to follow him around the store and tell him how much I admired him and the show he was in called “The Yellow Rose”. We had some nice chats down the aisles. He was such an easy man to talk to. His wife was a little more aggressive than he. He was a special soul that was so humble and should have had more recognition for his contributions to life, and didn’t get.
I am happy to find you and that Sam referred me to you as I love the Lord and know he is taking care of me at all times. These are hard times for everyone and hard for a lot of people to focus on the positive. I listened to Joel Olsteen this morning and he said to turn the negative thoughts into positive thoughts and believe the Lord will see you through. I listened.
Nice to be in contact with you and hope to hear from you.
God Bless,
Nicole
Thanks for being part of the family Nicole…..We are Prayer Warriors for Jesus! Leaders for Jesus….more on that in this cup!

I met Donna and her Mother a few times in San Clemente. i thought Robert A was improving it seems like there was a dispute between Colemans and Robert A.

Thanks for writing Dutch! What a Dutch treat as we used to say back home! There is a story from the LA Times today that Robert just got back from a speaking engagement in Brazil and will not talk to the media, or make any comment. My heart ached for the Schuller family and the ministry. The Times report says he will be opening his own ministry.
Here is what Christianity Today has on the story……….
“I was called to start a mission, not a church…….You don’t try to preach……what is sin and what isn’t sin. A mission is a place where you ask nonbelievers to come and find faith and hope and feel love.” Robert H. Schuller of the Crystal cathedral after removing his son, Robert A. Schuller, from the Hour of Power tv program.
A father and son split is never good……..and it also involves a ministry……..please keep this in your prayers.
I get so excited about getting emails, then getting them from new folks…get’s me really excited in the LORD! I am so thankful that the LORD is allowing this ministry to grow! This ministry is to be a family in the LORD, a praying family, a family where you can feel safe in the LORD, where you are always welcomed.
If we have not heard from you in awhile…how about dropping us a line! Do you have anybody that you would like to add to the email blast list?
Have them check out www.deweysdailycup.com and www.mykkim.com
I have a PRAISE NOTE!!! I have been talking to my brother Daryl for the last several days. We are having some very good talks. I would like to fly out and see Daryl soon. Please pray for the Lord’s will in these travel plans and in this relationship and for Daryl’s health. Thanks and God Bless.
A Christmas baby!!! I am going to be a Great Uncle! Megan Rogers, my sister Deb’s daughter, is expecting her first child any day! Please keep this in y0ur prayers.
Happy birthday to one of our dear friends Araceli Amaro. Araceli’s birthday is actually tomorrow, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Araceli has been a reader of the Cup for years!
Also Congrats to the Rick Griffin family……..daughter Natalie graduated from College and also was the speaker for the graduating class!!
Mark 7:15
“There is nothing that enters a man from the outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.”
Mark 6: 50
“Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
As many of you know I am now reading John Maxwell’s Leadership Bible and his 21 Irrefutable laws of Leadership.
I really believe that if we all work at being better leaders for Christ………we can change the whole world! When it comes down right to it, most problems in our families, business, government, schools, church’s is because of poor leadership.
Here is something I would like to share with you from Maxwell……..
God is the Ultimate leader, and HE calls every believer to lead others. God could have arranged HIS creation any number of ways. HE chose to create human beings who possess spirits and the capacity to relate to HIM and follow HIM, yet who are not forced to do so. When mankind fell into sin, God could have easily executed a plan of redemption that did not include sinful people in the process. But HE has called us to participate and to lead others as we follow HIIM. HE makes that clear from the beginning: “Let us make man in OUR image, according to OUR likeness; let them have dominion….” Gen. 1:26
Maxwell continues………I wholeheartedly believe that everything rises and falls on leadership. By that I mean that, more than anything else, the leadership of any group or organization will determine its success or failure. You can see the impact of leadership in the Bible. In ancient Israel, when God’s people had a good king, all was well with the nation. When they had a bad king, things went poorly for everyone. That’s why Scripture teaches that without a vision people perish. see Prov. 29:18
The call to leadership is a consistent pattern in the Bible. When God decided to raise up a nation of HIS own, HE didn’t call upon masses. HE called out one leader—Abraham. When HE wanted to deliver HIS people out of Egypt, HE didn’t guide them as a group. HE raised up a leader to do it—–Moses. When it came time for the people to cross into the Promised Land, they followed one man——Joshua. Every time God desires to do something great, HE calls a leader to step forward. Today He still calls leaders to step forward for every great work.
Great words from Jon Maxwell!
Are you ready for the call?
Poor leadership in our homes, at work, in our schools, government……..is one of the main reasons we are where we are at in this country!
How can we become better leaders?
Each of us needs to be better!
We will tackle this more later this week. A lot of people think leadership is being a boss, put my foot down type of person…….wrong!
Maxwell looks toward the example Mother Teresa………..
Author and former speech writer Peggy Noonan was at the speech that Mother Teresa gave at the National Day of Prayer Breakfast in 1994. It illustrates Mother Teresa’s leadership……….
The Washington establishment was there, plus a few thousand born-again Christians, orthodox Catholics, and Jews. Mother Teresa spoke of God, of love, of families. She said we must love one another and care for one another. There were great purrs of agreement.
But as the speech continued, it became more pointed. She spoke of unhappy parents in old people’s homes who are “hurt because they are forgotten.” She asked, “Are we willing to give until it hurts in order to be with our families, or do we put our own interests first?”
The baby boomers in the audience began to shift in their seats. And she continued. “I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion,” she said, and told them why, in uncompromising terms. For about 1.3 seconds there was silence, then applause swept the room. But not everyone clapped; President Clinton and First lady Hillary Clinton, the Vice President and Mrs. Gore looked like seated statues at Madame Tussaud’s, moving not a muscle. Mother Teresa didn’t stop there either. When she was finished, there was almost no one she hadn’t offended.
At that time if just about any other person in the world had made those statements, people’s reactions would have been openly hostile. They would have booed, jeered, or stormed out. But the speaker was Mother Teresa. She probably was the most respected person on the planet at that time. So everyone listened to what she had to say, even though many of them violently disagreed with it. In fact, every time that Mother Teresa spoke, people listened.
Why? She was a real leader, and when the real leader speaks, people listen. Leadership is influence—-nothing more, nothing less.
We can all be better leaders for the LORD. Everyone of us. Remember also……a Leader is a servant of his people.
Got a lot of good feed back on our Christmas stories from last week….here are some more……..
Here is a great story from Joe Rowe………..
The Pastor and his son>>> Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at the church, the> Pastor> and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out> Gospel Tracts.> This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his> son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as> well> as pouring down rain. The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest > clothes> and said, ‘OK, dad, I’m ready.’>>> His Pastor dad asked, ‘Ready for what?’>> ‘Dad, it’s time we gather our tracts together and go out.’>>> Dad responds, ‘Son, it’s very cold outside and it’s pouring down rain.’>>> The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, ‘But Dad, aren’t people> still going to Hell, even though it’s raining?’>> Dad answers, ‘Son, I am not going out in this weather’>>> Despondently, the boy asks, ‘Dad, can I go? Please?’>>> His father hesitated for a moment then said, ‘Son, you can go. Here are> the> tracts, be careful son.’>>> ‘Thanks Dad!’>>> And with that, he was off and out into the rain This eleven year old > boy> walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody > he> met in the street a Gospel Tract.>>> After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet> and down to his VERY LAST TRACT. He stopped on a corner and looked for> someone to hand a tract to, but the streets were totally deserted.>>> Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the sidewalk> to> the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody> answered.>>> He rang it again and again, but still no one answered He waited but > still> no answer.>> Finally, this eleven year old trooper turned to leave, but something> stopped him.>>> Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the> door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front> porch!>>>> He rang again and this time the door slowly opened.>>>> Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady. She softly> asked, ‘What can I do for you, son?’ With radiant eyes and a smile that> lit up> her world, this little boy said,>>>> ‘Ma’am, I’m sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that> *JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU* and I came to give you my very last Gospel> Tract> which will tell you all about JESUS and His great LOVE.’>>> With that, he handed her his last tract and turned to leave.>>> She called to him as he departed. ‘Thank you, son! And God Bless You!’>>> Well, the following Sunday morning in church Pastor Dad was in the > pulpit.>>> As the service began, he asked, ‘Does anybody have testimony or want to> say anything?’>>> Slowly, in the back row of the church, an elderly lady stood to her > feet.>>> As she began to speak, a look of glorious radiance came from her face,> ‘No> one in this church knows me. I’ve never been here before.>>>> You see, before last Sunday I was not a Christian. My husband passed on> some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world. Last Sunday, > being> a> particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my heart that I> came> to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live.>> So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic > of> my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof, then > stood> on> the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck. > Standing> on that chair, so lonely and brokenhearted I was about to leap off, when> suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me. I> thought,> ‘I’ll wait a minute, and whoever it is will go away.’>>> I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and> more insistent, and then the person ringing also started knocking > loudly.>>> I thought to myself again, ‘Who on earth could this be? Nobody ever > rings> my bell or comes to see me.’ I loosened the rope from my neck and > started> for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.>>> When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for> there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I > had> ever> seen in my life. His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to you!>>> The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long been> dead,> TO LEAP TO LIFE as he exclaimed with a cherub-like voice, ‘Ma’am, I just> came to tell you that JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU.’ Then he gave me this> Gospel Tract that I now hold in my hand.>>>> As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain, I > closed> my door and read slowly every word of this Gospel Tract. Then I went up > to> my attic to get my rope and chair. I wouldn’t be needing them any more.>> You see—I am now a Happy Child of the KING. Since the address of your> church was on the back of this Gospel Tract, I have come here to> personally> say THANK YOU to God’s little angel who came just in the nick of time > and> by> so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in hell.’>>> There was not a dry eye in the church And as shouts of praise and honor > to> THE KING resounded off the very rafters of the building, Pastor Dad> descended from the pulpit to the front pew where the little angel was> seated.>>> He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably.>>> Probably no church has had a more glorious moment, and probably this> universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love & honor > for> his> son… Except for One.>> Our Father also allowed His Son to go out into a cold and dark world. He> received His Son back with joy unspeakable, and as all of heaven shouted> praises and honor to The King, the Father sat His beloved Son on a > throne> far> above all principality and power and every name that is named.>>> Blessed are your eyes for reading this message.>>> Don’t let this message die, read it again and pass it to others. Heaven > is> for His people!>>> Remember, God’s message CAN make the difference in the life of someone> close to you.
