Thanking the Lord always for the life and writings of Paul who said in Eph 6:18, “Praying always with all power and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”

We must not forget what supplication means……

The word supplication is directly related to the simple verb for “to bind” (Matt: 18:18) Wherever you encounter the term “supplication” it is presenting to us that kind of prayer where we come to the LORD and move into the dimension of controlling by the power of GOD that which is uncontrollable by human power.

I have been studying prayer all weekend by reading into Paul and reading a book on prayer by a Great man of God, R.A. Torrey, who Preached alongside D.L. Moody. Torrey was born in 1856 and passed onto heaven in 1928 in Ashville, NC where Billy Graham lives near, and where I took part in Time To revive’s Revival there a couple of years ago. Torrey also Preached in Minneapolis, Min at one time. I have been shown much wisdom by the likes of Moody, Torrey, Wigglesworth, Spurgeon, Chambers, and many more. I have always loved history, and so I love reading books of the great men of God from the past. When you read their life story and their teachings on the Bible you realize that today’s Church has really watered down the Word of God and the power of God, and the power He gives us! I am thankful for the opportunity to study. Just like the word supplication, how many have been taught the meaning?

Where Paul says in Col 4:12 Epaphras who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings he is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.

Are you wrestling in prayer daily?

Wrestling in fervent prayer—it’s an interesting description for this vital part of Christian life. To wrestle is to struggle, be in anguish, labor fervently and be in agony. It’s related to the same Greek word used of Christ in Gethsemane where, “being in agony [of mind], He prayed [all the] more earnestly and intently; and His sweat became like great clots of blood dropping down upon the ground” (Luke 22:44
, Amplified Bible).

I think too many in the Body of Christ have become drive by prayers…say a quick prayer and move on……

Torrey out’s it this way….If we are to pray with power and supplication, we must pray with intense earnestness, throwing our whole soul into the prayer. This though comes out especially in the Bible. For example, we find it in Romans 15:30: “Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me.” The word translated “strive together” in this verse is sunagonizo, and agonizo means to contend or strive or wrestle or fight. This verse could be properly translated, “Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye wrestle together with me in your prayers to God for me.”

That is the kind of prayer I would like you all to pray for me and Sharon and the Kid’s and we pray like that for each other!

Many have forgotten how to REALLY PRAY or have never been taught, because it is not taught much anymore on how to REALLY PRAY!

Torrey says, There is not only “the rest of faith” but there is also the “fight of faith,” and my Bible has more to say about “the fight of faith” than it does about “the rest of faith”

I love to be around prayer partners who really “wrestle with prayer”!!!

Saturday I saw my first movie in a theater since 2008. Motion sickness has prevented me from seeing movies. I have always wanted to see the movie Lincoln, I have studied the life of Lincoln all my life since I could read. Gretchen wanted to go Saturday, Sharon also, but she was sick. I asked many of you to pray for me Saturday and I was able to see the movie without any problem!!! PRAISE GOD!

When you study Lincoln you realize that he loved people. He spent time down at the Military headquarters waiting on telegrams, he would sneak into prayer services at a Church near by. He would walk alone. He who talk to the men,many were in awe of this giant of a man, like me. Just think of all the stress this man was under death of 2 sons, sickness of his wife, Country in Civil war and his life being under constant threat. He was yet able to be one of if not the Greatest President in our History. Our leaders of today, pale in comparison to Lincoln.

We must be in constant prayer for Godly leaders like Lincoln. We must take it to the wrestling mat!

Yesterday as much of America watched Football and the Golden Globe awards, Pastor Rick Warren appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s program. I really am thankful for this program to reach out and touch people and have Pastor Warren give people a taste of our Lord Jesus Christ and for Oprah to have him on and also having Nick Vujicic on, the Australian Evangelist who has no arms or legs!He gave a tremendous testimony for our Lord Jesus Christ! He and his wife are expecting their first child! PRAISE GOD! Weeks ago Oprah had Joel Osteen on her program! I know there is some that have a problem with Oprah Winfrey, I know some Pastor’s that have problems with Warren and Osteen, but let us be careful here of being critical. I believe God is at work in each of us and for Oprah to have Pastor Warren and Osteen on national TV reaching millions, yes millions, seeds are being planted! AMEN! It is our job then to water and fertilize those seeds for the Kingdom! AMEN!

A Pastor told me at the Revival in Efland, NC that the main problem with the Church is, “It’s like a firing squad in a circle, shooting at each other, preventing the Gospel from going forward.”

Let us be in prayer for those that were touched by this program that they will grow up into being great men and women of God! AMEN!

I am a silent one but I read your cups every day; you just never know it.

THE SILENT SERMON
A member of a certain church, who previously had been attending services regularly, stopped going. After a few weeks, the pastor decided to visit him.

It was a chilly evening. The pastor found the man at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his pastor’s visit, the man welcomed him, led him to a comfortable chair near the fireplace and waited.

The pastor made himself at home but said nothing. In the grave silence, he contemplated the dance of the flames around the burning logs. After some minutes, the pastor took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone then he sat back in his chair, still silent.

The host watched all this in quiet contemplation. As the one lone ember’s flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its fire was no more. Soon it was cold and dead.

Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The pastor glanced at his watch and realized it was time to leave. He slowly stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow, once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it.

As the pastor reached the door to leave, his host said with a tear running down his cheek, ’Thank you so much for your visit and especially for the fiery sermon. I will be back in church next Sunday’.

We live in a world today, which tries to say too much with toolittle. Consequently, few listen. Sometimes the best sermons are the ones left unspoken.

Let us pray over these two needs, please……….

Long an unfortunate night... Jewel, the mother of the new pups suddenly started shaking like a leaf in a 50 knot wind last night, started panting like crazy and lost the use of her back legs... Rushed her over to the Vet Hospital near montgomery & carlisle and they recognized her condition straight off the bat... She is apparently just too small to feed that many puppies and her system was complete depleted of almost everything she or the puppies need... They got an IV on her straight away and stated it was really close; if we'd left her to bring her in this morning her whole system would have just shut down... $700 later (so far) she's still in the hospital but is stable... they will keep her for now and hopefully she'll be able to come home tonight... In the mean time I've been up all night taking care of the puppies (and their dad who is still recovering from his surgery)... If you ever wanna have fun, try feeding 8 one week old puppies with a bottle; bout as easy as finding a flying pig in your own back yard !!!... The puppies are ok but very lonely; they know mom isn't there and don't appreciate grandpa trying to feed them !... Give us a prayer for Jewel if you have a second... Love ya my friend, rick

Search for local woman’s missing dog

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A local woman with cancer is heartbroken after her dog, who has comforted her after many hospital visits and chemo treatments, went missing.
The community has rallied behind her in her search for her toy poodle, Dolly.
The family is offering a $250 reward.
Simone Albert and her husband, Dave, say the timing could not have been worse to lose their precious poodle, Dolly.
“We have had a lot on our plate. It’s a lot to bear,” Dave said.
Simone has been battling breast cancer since 2001. She said it wasn’t the most aggressive type of cancer but seven years later, it spread to her lungs, then to her liver.
Simone said her red, toy poodle has been her lifeline.
“We just need her back. It’s a bad time,” Dave said. “We’ve been heavy-hearted with this loss. Simone has had six hospitalizations in the last year.”
After the most recent one, a friend was helping Simone by walking Dolly in her northeast Albuquerque neighborhood Monday. The friend said Dolly got scared and ran away near the busy intersection of San Mateo and Hannett.
“We took off in a car calling and calling. By that evening, we were putting up posters,” Simone said.
With the help of neighbors and friends, they put up about a hundred flyers and posted on Facebook and Craigslist.
They have checked with local vets, shelters and groomers.
Despite their efforts and the fact that Dolly had a collar, they haven’t heard a thing.
“I can certainly understand if you have grown attached to this dog because we sure have, and we’re offering a $250 reward for her return.”

January 14, 2013. Stop looking for honor from mankind. When those close to you find out that you are just like them, your gifting seems to fade a lot. You discover that your gifting is not really yours but belongs to God, even though it can never be withdrawn from you. Treat all people the same whether they accept you or not. Love overcomes a multitude of sins. Love never fails. Love drives away fear. At this very moment in your life, the most important thing you can possibly do is show and demonstrate true love as God has shown and given to you. In fact, and though they may not admit it, everyone you meet during the day desperately needs God’s love through you.

Confident leaders hustle during intermission!

Confident leaders, like My Dad hustle during intermission when nobody was watching, continuing their work. Another like that was my Teacher/Coach back home Jack Kelly. Mr. Kelly as I still call him is a Mentor of mine. I Preached on that last night at the Men’s Bible Study at Valley View Christian Church. We had a wonderful time of sharing. In the mail yesterday I got a Christmas card from Jack and his lovely wife Marilyn who is fighting cancer……..the card said, Dewey, Thank you for all your prayers and kind words and the deeds you have done for our family, God Bless your Ministry………I cried at that because I asked myself, What deeds have I done for Jack and Marilyn? I had a man in my life named Jack Kelly who taught me much back in Windom, Minnesota. First in pee-wee Baseball, then Shop Class, then I served the sports teams as Student Manger. I then worked at the School for 4 years as a Custodian before going off to Radio/TV school and got to know Jack even more. Him and my Dad were good friends as Dad drove the team bus everywhere and he and Jack served together on the Fire Dept. I also get the opportunity to write good things about Jack and others in my hometown because the www.citizennew.com gives me the opportunity to share from time to time, maybe that is my way of paying back into the community that helped me build a solid foundation for my life. I pray that you have mentor’s in your life. The Community/Body of Christ coming together to hold each other up! AMEN!

Today, sow seeds for God………that will bear much fruit.

This is the World we live in………..

A new national poll shows the popularity of the United States Congress has sunk lower than ever – even lower than cockroaches!
It’s a poll by the highly respected Public Policy Polling firm, and it finds Congress with a nine percent approval rating, with 85 percent of the American people disapproving. But the pollsters didn’t stop there. They asked voters to make some choices.
That’s where those cockroaches come in. They beat Congress by two percentage points, 45 percent to 43 percent. But that’s nothing. People prefer head lice by a margin of better than three to one. Genghis Khan is more popular than Congress. Ditto for Donald Trump, traffic jams, France, used car salesmen, root canals and Brussels sprouts.
New Mexico voters are more than ready to chime in.
“I think what they’re saying is right,” said Vince Chavez. “It’s true. Both parties are to blame right now. People are not happy with what’s going on with the economy and I think that reflects on our elected officials.”
“All I’ve got to say is that things have never changed,” said Nash Encinias. “It’s always been the same. Congress has always been pretty unpopular.”
“I hate ’em and America hates ’em because they just don’t get the job done, period,” said Tim Carpenter. “I think they’re so bad I think the Kardashians should be more popular than they are!”
Actually, that’s where you’d be wrong – Congress is 13 points more popular than the Kardashians. Congress also beats Lindsay Lohan, Fidel Castro, meth labs, North Korea and John Edwards.
New Mexico’s congressional delegation seems to be well aware of the poll, at least on the staff level. One veteran staffer reminded us that Americans tend to like their own individual Representatives and Senators a lot better than they like Congress as a whole.

As the next debt ceiling battle rolls around in a few months, Democrats have come up with a plan to help President Obama completely bypass Congress so he won’t have to negotiate with House Republicans on the issue.
Their plan involves using the U.S. Treasury to print a $1 trillion coin.
Liberals like Paul Krugman, with The New York Times believe there is a loophole that would allow the Treasury to print a single commemorative coin worth $1 trillion.
The president would then deposit the coin in the Federal Reserve, supposedly allowing the Fed to then issue funds worth $1 trillion to keep the government running without raising the debt

Crazy stuff………as I say..this is the World we live in………Let us now go into prayer as we read the following stories.Over the last 15 years of the CUP these are two all-time favorites………as we celebrate 15 years here at the CUP! PRAISE GOD!

One of my old time favorite stories about the old Pastor…………

AFTER A FEW OF THE USUAL SUNDAY EVENING HYMNS,

THE CHURCH’S PASTOR SLOWLY STOOD UP,

WALKED OVER TO THE PULPIT AND,

BEFORE HE GAVE HIS SERMON FOR THE EVENING,

HE BRIEFLY INTRODUCED A GUEST MINISTER

WHO WAS IN THE SERVICE THAT EVENING.

IN THE INTRODUCTION, THE PASTOR TOLD THE

CONGREGATION THAT THE GUEST MINISTER WAS

ONE OF HIS DEAREST CHILDHOOD FRIENDS AND

THAT HE WANTED HIM TO HAVE A FEW MOMENTS

TO GREET THE CHURCH AND SHARE WHATEVER

HE FELT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR THE SERVICE ..

WITH THAT, AN ELDERLY MAN STEPPED UP TO THE

PULPIT AND BEGAN TO SPEAK.

‘A FATHER, HIS SON, AND A FRIEND OF HIS SON WERE
SAILING OFF
THE PACIFIC COAST ‘ HE BEGAN.
‘WHEN A FAST APPROACHING STORM BLOCKED ANY
ATTEMPT TO GET BACK TO THE SHORE….

THE WAVES WERE SO HIGH, THAT EVEN THOUGH THE
FATHER WAS AN EXPERIENCED SAILOR, HE COULD NOT
KEEP THE BOAT UPRIGHT AND THE THREE WERE SWEPT
INTO THE OCEAN AS THE BOAT CAPSIZED.’

THE OLD MAN HESITATED FOR A MOMENT,
MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH TWO TEENAGERS WHO WERE,
FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE SERVICE BEGAN,
LOOKING SOMEWHAT INTERESTED IN HIS STORY.

THE AGED MINISTER CONTINUED WITH HIS STORY,
‘GRABBING A RESCUE LINE, THE FATHER HAD TO MAKE THE MOST EXCRUCIATING DECISION OF HIS LIFE: TO WHICH BOY WOULD HE
THROW THE OTHER END OF THE LIFE LINE.
HE ONLY HAD SECONDS TO MAKE THE DECISION.
THE FATHER KNEW THAT HIS SON WAS A CHRISTIAN AND HE ,
ALSO, KNEW THAT HIS SON’S FRIEND WAS NOT.
THE AGONY OF HIS DECISION COULD NOT BE MATCHED BY THE
TORRENT OF WAVES.

AS THE FATHER YELLED OUT, ‘I LOVE YOU, SON!’
HE THREW OUT THE LIFE LINE TO HIS SON’S FRIEND.
BY THE TIME THE FATHER HAD PULLED THE FRIEND BACK TO THE CAPSIZED
BOAT, HIS SON HAD DISAPPEARED BENEATH THE RAGING SWELLS
INTO THE BLACK OF NIGHT.

HIS BODY WAS NEVER RECOVERED.

BY THIS TIME, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE SITTING UP
STRAIGHT IN THE PEW, ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR THE NEXT WORDS TO COME
OUT OF THE OLD MINISTER’S MOUTH.

‘THE FATHER,’ HE CONTINUED, ‘KNEW HIS SON WOULD
STEP INTO ETERNITY WITH JESUS AND HE COULD NOT
BEAR THE THOUGHT OF HIS SON’S FRIEND STEPPING INTO AN ETERNITY WITHOUT
JESUS.. THEREFORE, HE SACRIFICED HIS SON TO SAVE THE SON’S FRIEND. ‘ !

HOW GREAT IS THE LOVE OF GOD THAT HE SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR US..
OUR HEAVENLY FATHER SACRIFICED HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WE COULD BE SAVED…..
I URGE YOU TO ACCEPT HIS OFFER TO RESCUE YOU AND TAKE A HOLD OF THE LIFE LINE
HE IS THROWING OUT TO YOU IN THIS SERVICE.’

WITH THAT, THE OLD MAN TURNED AND SAT BACK DOWN IN HIS CHAIR AS SILENCE
FILLED THE ROOM.

THE PASTOR AGAIN WALKED SLOWLY TO THE PULPIT AND
DELIVERED A BRIEF SERMON WITH AN INVITATION AT THE END. HOWEVER, NO ONE RESPONDED TO THE APPEAL.

WITHIN MINUTES AFTER THE SERVICE ENDED, THE TWO
TEENAGERS WERE AT THE OLD MAN’S SIDE.

‘THAT WAS A NICE STORY,’ POLITELY STATED ONE OF
THEM, ‘BUT I DON’T THINK IT WAS VERY REALISTIC FOR A FATHER TO GIVE UP HIS
ONLY SON’S LIFE IN HOPES THAT THE OTHER BOY WOULD BECOME A CHRISTIAN.’

‘WELL, YOU’VE GOT A POINT THERE,’ THE OLD MAN REPLIED,
GLANCING DOWN AT HIS WORN BIBLE. A BIG SMILE BROADENED HIS NARROW FACE..
HE ONCE AGAIN LOOKED UP AT THE BOYS AND SAID, ‘IT SURE ISN’T VERY REALISTIC,
IS IT? BUT, I’M STANDING HERE TODAY TO TELL YOU THAT STORY GIVES ME A
GLIMPSE OF WHAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE FOR GOD TO GIVE UP HIS SON FOR ME.

I WAS THAT FATHER AND YOUR PASTOR IS MY SON’S FRIEND.’

The Marbles During the waning years of the depression in a small southeastern Idaho community, I used to stop by Mr. Miller’s roadside stand for farm-fresh produce as the season made it available. Food and money were still extremely scarce and bartering was used, extensively. One particular day Mr. Miller was bagging some early potatoes for me. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily appraising a basket of freshly picked green peas. I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn’t help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller and the ragged boy next to me. “Hello, Barry. How are you today?” “H’lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus’ admirin’ them peas . . . sure look good.” “They are good, Barry. How’s your Ma?” “Fine. Gittin’ stronger alla’ time.” “Good. Anything I can help you with?” “No, sir. Jus’ admirin’ them peas.” “Would you like to take some home?” “No, sir. Got nuthin’ to pay for ’em with.” “Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?” “Here ’tis. She’s a dandy.” “I can see that. Hmmmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?” “Not ‘zackley . . . . . but almost.” “Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you, and next trip this way, let me look at that red marble.” “Sure will. Thanks, Mr. Miller.” Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile she said, “There are two other boys like him in our community. All three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes or whatever. When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn’t like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or perhaps an orange one, or a green . . . I left the stand, smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado, but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys and their bartering. Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his viewing that evening, and knowing my friends wanted to go, agreed to accompany them. Upon our arrival at the mortuary, we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could. Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts, very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing smiling and composed, by her husband’s casket. Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket. Her misty, light blue eyes followed them as, one by one, each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold, pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary, awkwardly, wiping his eyes. Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and mentioned the story she had told me about the marbles. Eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket. “Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about. They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim ‘traded’ them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size . . . they came to pay their debt. We’ve never had a great deal of the wealth of this world,” she confided, “but, right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho.” With loving gentleness, she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three magnificently shiny red marbles. Moral: We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath. P. S. God Loves You. A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.

There are some of you out there today my Dear friends who I love very much that need to completely step out of the darkness you are in. I encourage all to share this CUP with many.

Lady Wisdom goes out in the street and shouts. At the town center she makes her speech. In the middle of the traffic she takes her stand. At the busiest corner she calls out:

“Simpletons! How long will you wallow in ignorance? Cynics! How long will you feed your cynicism? Idiots! How long will you refuse to learn? About face! I can revise your life. Look, I’m ready to pour out my spirit on you; I’m ready to tell you all I know. As it is, I’ve called, but you’ve turned a deaf ear; I’ve reached out to you, but you’ve ignored me.

Wisdom……….

Wise men are not always silent, but they know when to be.

To get to the point in our lives where we completely rely on God is to give up on ourselves ourselves completely…..to give it all up for God. to rely on Him.

I Preach a lot about Godly Wisdom…I was once in the darkness, lost, and now I am found, I am here everyday to encourage you in the ways of our Lord.

Many of you reading this today think you have surrendered to God………but you have more to surrender to Him. God has shown that to me.

To get to the place in our life of completely relying on God…..we need help.

Charles Stanley, to me is one of the Greatest Bible Teachers in History, I have met him two times now, the first time I got to give him a hug of love for all he has taught me!

Charles wrote that one day he and a Church member were walking on a wooded trail, to visit a woman who had just lost her husband.

All of a sudden Charles buddy said, STOP! Charles immediately heeded the warning. Camouflaged by it’s surroundings was an angry rattlesnake. If Charles would have taken another step the rattlesnake would have bitten him. That is why we must have others walking with us through our journey here on earth so that we do not get bitten by rattlesnakes. To provide us with Godly wisdom, accountability, love, and patients.

Sooner than later we all get “bitten” by something in life and then when this happens the Mentor’s in our life come surround us in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ and help guide us through this time all the while we focus on our Lord.

Turn not aside to the right hand or to the left; remove your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:27

My Son, be attentive to my Wisdom, godly wisdom learned by actual costly experience and incline your ear to my understanding of what is becoming and prudent for you. Proverbs 5:1

I thank the Lord for all the mentor’s I have…..these men and women have given me and Sharon and our family much. For that we are ever so grateful to Our Lord and to them! AMEN!

I am an old baseball fan…. there is this old saying that I am a “purist” when it comes to the game, and life!…….no instant replays…..keeping the human element in the game………and doing the best to keep cheaters out of the game and out of the Hall of Fame. To make sure we are sending the right message to our youth. Many were shocked and mad that not one player was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday, I was not, I say that is well and good! Theses major League players sign a contract that states that they will always represent MLB in an excellent way. This goes back to what I am sharing today on mentor’s, we must be careful who are children follow, who we hold up as examples!

Keep the cheaters out of our club.
That was the prevailing sentiment from several baseball Hall of Famers who were happy to see Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Sammy Sosa excluded from the Cooperstown fraternity Wednesday.
“I’m kind of glad that nobody got in this year,” former Detroit Tigers outfielder Al Kaline said. “I feel honored to be in the Hall of Fame. And I would’ve felt a little uneasy sitting up there on the stage, listening to some of these new guys talk about how great they were.”
Goose Gossage went even further — he often does.
“I think the steroids guys that are under suspicion got too many votes,” he said. “I don’t know why they’re making this such a question and why there’s so much debate. To me, they cheated. Are we going to reward these guys?”

I’ll admit I’m a people watcher. But not for the purpose of judging; I love to read them like a book. I look at their lives much like the characters in the Bible, who were of no notoriety or fame until God decided one day that their story was noteworthy. And now, if you mention Peter, James or John, though there is no surname attached, most people will immediately think of the disciples. They were ordinary people whom the Lord saved and used in an extraordinary way.

So when I meet people in the course of the day I have to wonder, what’s your story? If your angel is taking notes in the book of “you” what is the title of today’s chapter? Is it in the category of romance, tragedy, horror or like mine most days, comedy?

Going off on a random trail here, but not really, because it is about people watching…a Facebook friend of mine posted from a McDonalds yesterday that he was people watching a couple of cowboys. Real cowboys! Who were flirting with a McDonald’s employee. He asked the gal “Hey thar young lady… wanna tomaaater?” then he proceeded to reach in his pocket and pull out a tomato and hand it to her! My Facebook friend is a musician who travels a great deal, so I really have no idea what State he was in, and I won’t stereotype any state by guessing, but I have my theories. The story left me in the state of hysterics! People are too stinkin’ funny. Why watch television when you can get that kind of comedy in person at McDonalds!? And for free.

Can you imagine that guy’s angel’s reaction? I wonder if he wrote that down; probably just shook his head and said, “Really God, this is who you gave me to follow?” You may question my theory on this but in Matthew 18:10 Christ says “Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is heaven.” Angels are indeed people watchers, and they are in the presence of God, so that conversation could theoretically happen.

Now back to my point…

The title of today’s chapter in the book of Shari would be “Watch where you’re going.” I get so wrapped up in people watching sometimes that I forget to watch my own direction.

Hebrews 12:1 says “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily best us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

Sometimes I look at other peoples stories out of concern, interest or because my story seems less interesting, or by way of denial because mine brings sorrow or frustration to my own heart. Whatever the reason, I am without excuse if in the process of reading someone else’s story, my book ends poorly. I’m not the only people watcher, I am compassed about with a cloud of witnesses and I don’t want to fall flat on my face in this race because I was watching someone else.

Today I don’t have any “tomaaaters” for you, but I have this prayer, I pray that God sends a chapter into your book filled with the goodness of God, laughter from Heaven, and the provision of your needs. God Bless!
