I learned through the spirit how to “Cast my cares on the Lord!” More than just a few words hinged together; learning how to cast my cares on the Lord was a life changing event in my life! I didn’t learn alone; I was taught by God!
All for the glory of God and the gospel of Peace, Jesus has forever impacted me and enabled me to say, that this is who Jesus is to me…
“He sat beside me by the campfire that night and I sensed his comfort overcome me [as I heard his quiet still voice convict me] of the truth inside, ‘It is okay. I understand; and I love you.’ I should have been on my knees in front of my Lord, but instead, I sit there humbly and in a frightened state, I said, ‘forgive me, but I am scared tonight’! This is a true story that is found on pages 30 & 257-266 of The Train Whistle if you care to read the details of this amazing experience, but the lesson to me that I want to share with you Today is that: This was Jesus sitting beside me [I felt his
physical presence from my shoulder to the bend of my knee sitting beside me on
that bench that night by the campfire]; and this is who Jesus is to me: In my weakness, He understands and loves me anyway! …and in your weakness, Smile, because Jesus loves you; and He is your strong arm!
All that Jesus is and all that He has done for me and yet, this is who Jesus remains to be … I can’t even put into words what this means … so I pray for you to experience God’s love flow into you through His Son like this … His ultimate position at the right hand of God and yet humbly still Today comes down from heaven through the spirit of God and reaches out to us! Unconditionally, He loves me (and He loves you too); Jesus understands and we have a friend in Him!”
Why would I feel a press and nudge from God to share this with you Today? Perhaps, do you need to know that this message is for you as much as it was meant for me? It was; you know! God loves you just as you are and Jesus understands and He is there for you just as you are, because you and me…we are the reason that Jesus has come for us in the first place!
Can you imagine? After all that Jesus has endured and overcome to save us; Jesus is not about to give up on us Now! Come to Jesus and just know how much God loves you! Meet Him on a friendship level and know that He is just a step away when you may think He is galaxies away! He comes to us in Spirit and these spiritual experiences are very Real, Powerful and life altering that enables your faith to trust God enough to change to become all you know that you want to be for God!

I don’t have to tell you that, because God has put that desire on your heart! Most of us I believe just have to learn how to come to God like this and cast our guilt and cares on the Lord. The learning begins when we just believe! It begins with believing and trusting, and finishes with lasting results with our faithfulness and dedication to our Lord Jesus Christ! The Holy Spirit convicted me, but I understand that these words alone will not affect you! I share my story only to show hope and offer encouragement to seek to find what the Lord has shown and taught me! Freedom [from guilt and burdens] is possible!
“But how”? Maybe, you are still asking?

Pray & seek the Lord’s thoughts [His will]; and it is God who does the work in you when you learn to submit your will to God’s will alone. Casting your cares on the Lord is all about putting God 1st in your life; above everything; trusting HIM above all; and against all odds! Seek God 1st submitted to HIS will by faith and according to His written word and strive to remain saturated in His peace!
Based on my story: Cast your Cares on the Lord and in an Instant God’s Love will literally pour into you by the power of the Holy Spirit! In an instant, my very being changed from wanting to pray angry words; to loving this person who angered me in such a shocking way! My peace returned to me when my heart changed by the power of God alone! All I did was persistently pursue peace by seeking God’s thoughts about my heart according to His will & purpose to teach me!

I tried all the ‘base line’ religious words, and applied them in my prayer…but nothing worked until I submitted my thoughts to God’s will! Once I understood that God knew what happened and he loved that woman as much as me … my job was to love and pray for her, but I did not arrive at this place of love alone! God alone in me enabled what I was not capable to overcome in my emotions alone ~
… Not by my own will power or strength, but by the grace and power of God’s love alone!

I thought my job was to pray for God to teach her a lesson so that she would not make this same mistake again … but that was my angry prayer of self-righteousness! We have to learn the power of praying submitted to God’s will, with a willing heart to change our mind and [change
our opinion of what God should do]! It is not our job to fix people; it is our job to change our self, which begins with our mind!

Pray with God; and allow the Holy Spirit to convict your heart, willing to hear the hard truth… than in fact, even though the wrong against you was wrong, it is you & me that God is calling to change [and don’t allow anyone or any situation to steal your peace … humble
yourself to God with a grateful heart]! We are only responsible for changing our self…and bad things come against us to enable us to grow. Know this: God really knows what He is doing, even when it hurts and we don’t understand! God is at work with us all, with a Bigger Picture that we can see! Jesus knew this picture, that is why he endured being treated unfair all the way to the cross, because God so loved us! So, with certainty, you can know that God is at work changing us all and that includes the person who wronged you too, but it is up the them to accept change or not!

So…It goes back to it is our job to love and pray for each other…especially if we know about God’s plan of Salvation!
We have to pray for each other in our lack of knowledge to know to do better!

I learned that I can’t pray, “God pick me!” Because God loved that woman as much as God loved me that day, but my only responsibility was to learn the lesson that God was teaching me: To cast my cares on the Lord and my purpose was simply to love and pray for the one who wronged me…

There is more to this story, but …
Do you know what I prayed for first in that instant that love filled my heart for this woman who wronged me so bad? I prayed that nothing I said to her [my wrong that I did to her in my angry words] … I prayed that she would find the freedom from judging me like I was judging her! …with a grateful heart that God’s love had changed my mind and heart! I prayed that she would not be held down in that place that I was: angry and just wanting to pray the self-righteous prayer, but rather would be filled with love and forgiveness [freedom in Christ] and know how much I loved her now! It was too late in that moment to say the words to her, I was miles down the road by then, but it was not too late for Jesus to let her know!
God is this powerful! God is this full of love! The Holy Spirit is amazing and meant to be experienced alive and working in our life, which begins from our inner being!

A trap is set on purpose by someone to capture something special. Satan sets traps baited with the things that appeal to our sinful nature. An animal would never go into a trap without something alluring in it to capture its attention. Neither do we go into traps on purpose. However, if we are focused on the temptation, we will be blinded to see the trap. God gives freedom in his love, but with that God-given freedom, we have the freedom to choose and decisions to make.

Don’t worry about yesterday, Shed guilt & simply repent and learn from your mistakes; don’t fret about tomorrow, God’s got that covered! Today is a good day to enjoy a brand New day that God has called Today!

Childhood Obesity Tied to School Lunches

It’s no secret that portion sizes have increased over the last 60 years. The CDC just released a shocking graph showing just how much that increase has been.

Another shocker: chocolate bars today are about 1,233% larger compared to the early 1900’s. It’s no wonder why the country is suffering from an overweight and obesity epidemic- one that was unheard of only 3 decades ago.

But it’s not just the fast food sizes that have increased. School lunches have also grown in size and calories, and have decreased in nutrition.

School Lunches and Obesity

Researchers have pointed to another cause for childhood obesity, the school lunch! In fact, school lunches have gotten so bad that they’re impacting today’s obesity rates. A survey taken from 1973 to 1974 compared to a survey taken in 2003 to 2004 showed that the prevalence of obese school-aged children jumped from 4% to a disturbing 18.8%!

A recent study found that students who regularly ate school lunches were 29% more likely to be obese compared to those kids who brought their lunches from home.*

There are many factors contributing to fattening and unhealthy school lunches. This article won’t go into all the factors or politics involved, but I wanted to mention a few things. One major factor is budget. It can be challenging to come up with school lunches that are both inviting and healthy, while keeping prices low. The unfortunate result is that many schools rely on high energy, yet low nutrient value foods to fill up their students.

Other factors are the special school programs some schools offer to get more revenue. In schools where the surveys were held, there were regular “Tater-Tot days”, which is as unhealthy as it sounds. Other schools have an a la carte menu.

The Problem with a la carte

A la carte selections aren’t subject to any health guidelines which the school is required to follow, as these are not the lunches that are served “free”. Students who wish to have a la carte lunches have to pay for these, and since they’re paying customers, they’re automatically provided with more selections. Given that, the student doesn’t necessarily have to choose the healthier option.

Fortunately, there’s some light at the end of this dark tunnel. A federal law was passed late last year that is said to limit the amount of calories in every school meal. The Department of Agriculture said that they will also require programs to offer more fruits and vegetables.

Help Your Kids Have a Healthier Lunch
I don’t think we should depend on the government to provide optimal nutrition for our kids or families. There are things that we can do for ourselves, and our children, to encourage them to eat healthier.

Here are a few suggestions:

– Brown Bag Solution. Make healthy lunches at home and pack them for your kids. Obvious, but effective. If you have picky eaters, have them help. Plan out meals together, do the shopping together, and prepare the lunches together. Avoid lunch meats as they are loaded with salt and other harmful chemicals. Be organic!

– Feed them a large healthy breakfast. The right kind of breakfast can do incredible wonders in controlling obesity levels. Eat a scrambled or over easy egg (range fed eggs) or an omelet with some kind of lean meat with a small Berry Smoothie – instead of any kind of a cereal, waffles or pancakes. Avoid fruit juices as they are loaded with sugar which is the absolute last thing they need to start their day off with.

– If you’re an activist and are called to do these things then write to your local schools. Community action helps a lot to get the schools in your area serve healthier meals. Join other concerned parents and students and request healthier meals.
