Dear DDC readers,
I’m Karen Rowe, host of Hope in Today, author of The Train Whistle, Sounding the Call of God’s Love and member of DDC reading family. It is my honor and privilege to be joining you Today! The title of the theme of Today’s Cup is “Mastering our Self by the Strength of God Alone.” I hope this will be a blessing to you!
Good morning & Good day! I hope all is well with you in this Day that God has called Today! … and if not, then I hope you have the grace of God to get through it well, because you can through the strength of Jesus Christ who lives in you through the power of God’s anointing!
Let’s face it, we don’t always have a good day ~ Sometimes things seem to face up against us and go full steam the wrong way, but still God is always Good; and God always works all things out for the good for them that love God! So let’s lift praise to God for all Good and Righteous things …; because in all situations we can choose to be joyful in the Lord!
Dewey has asked me to fill in for him while he is away, so I thought it would be a good time to relax our minds together and prepare our hearts for his return. Dewey has been sharing some amazing teachings, and I am sure that he will carry us onward when he returns.
There are so many things we could talk about Today, but how about we talk about the power in our words?
To prepare your mind; how do you describe “who you are?”
Would you say, “I am blessed or lucky?” … how about, “I am religious or spiritual?” … or more powerful yet; would you describe yourself as, “I [am a] “particular religion” or I am a Christian, whom Christ in me makes me to be …?”
“I am” describes how we accomplish all we do; “I am a” describes who we are …
Would you consider yourself “Blessed or cursed?” If it is the latter, then look at Iniquity and find your Truth in Jesus! This day and time, even the words, “Cash or Credit” make a difference in the way we intend on communicating our intentions! I use my credit card so much, because [I have learned how to get paid
for using it, instead of paying interest to buy more than I can afford]! So, to me, my credit card is instant payment ‘same as cash,’ HOWEVER, to the Dentist, Cash still means cash! [The actual green stuff and shiny coins …that used to jingle
in my pocket more often]! Hummm…Our understanding of word meaning is important for good communication in our blessed life with God too!
Immediate payment with our words of “cash or credit” makes a difference to the one collecting the money! “Credit” to the one in charge of receiving our payment for their service means: the transaction will cost them money to do the transaction! Ponder your freedom in Christ …Our Salvation cost Jesus HIS blood and now we are Free to choose freedom; according to God’s Holy Word; or remain stuck in our mindset according to being wise in our own eyes…
So consider this:
Are you “emotional or spiritual” most of the time? Humm, most of us flip back and forth, but we are called to grow into maturity in Christ (see 1 Co 3:1, 2:16, Colossians 2:6-7), so that we are not tossed back and forth like waves in sea (Ephesians 4:14)!
That oh emotional roller coaster! However, we can master our emotions by purposing our hearts to be loyal to God above all things by mastering / harnessing our emotions by the strength of God alone!
We are equipped in Christ (anointed by the power of the Holy Spirit) to display Self-Control, by purposing our heart to stay in step with the spirit (see Galatians 5:25, 5:23) …
“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit”, displaying the fruit of the Spirit with: “gentleness and self-control, by remembering who we are [and what following Jesus actually means]: To remain in LOVE!
John 15:4 tells us our need to remain in Jesus and 1 Co 13:5 tells us how to remain in HIM: Remain in LOVE: “it is not self-seeking”.
It is our Words, which REFLECT our mindset and our heart!
Our mind and heart are either set on God with HIS Word ready on our heart [open to learn to
change] or set on Selfish Ambition with a closed mind that is made up [&
self – justified with many words that come from our emotions].
If anything affects us directly, beware and guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus! Pay attention to your words and thoughts! If you try to justify a thought, action or word, [you want to say or do], then it is flat out wrong in God’s eyes!
We want to justify our emotions, but we are justified by Christ alone!
Emotions & Words can control us!
OR
We can control our emotions with our Words!
Today is our opportunity to be showing who we are in Jesus:
Love reflecting Christ is what pleases God & our words are powerful either way we choose to Reflect Christ in our life!!!
To be honest, most times it is easy to please God when everything goes our way …
& God calls us to Rejoice in Today!
Yet, how we handle the moments in our life will reflect if we are Acting with God, [according to Love and
in Step with the Spirit]; or Reacting to & in our emotions …
Today is each MOMENT as we live in it! Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23
This message was written especially for DDC, which was inspired from my new book, The Train Whistle, Sounding the Call of God’s Love! I hope this is a blessing to you and I hope you will pray about getting a copy of the Train Whistle for yourself and someone you know! To God is the glory alone! I hope Today’s Cup has been a blessing to you!

Words are Powerful
Words can be the difference in where we show our appreciation and acknowledgment: toward God or claiming success as a boast in ourselves. Words reflect our hearts to show if we choose to praise and thank God or ignore what God has done. Regardless of our opinion on this, God hears our words, and we either praise and thank God in all that we do or we shun him sometimes.
Luck seems to be an all-American word, and although seemingly innocent, luck is attached to e-mails and is ultimately where some people place their hope. Luck differs from faith in that in faith, there is no doubt, but in luck, there is. Luck is based on a collision of accidents. Faith is based on our hope in all that Jesus has done. Good luck to you has a nice sound and is meant well, but luck has no attachment to God’s good will. Instead, we should say: if it is the Lord’s will, then you will be blessed by your faith.
We are blessed by God’s grace that he has given us through our faith in Jesus Christ, not by luck. A more powerful expression of words directs focus onto God’s good will in his perfect guidance of his wisdom, where we are truly promoted in our lives that God has given us to live. Be blessed reminds us to focus on our gifts that are received from God with a grateful heart, giving God praise and thanksgiving at the same time.
Luck indicates by accident or good fortune and by means gained by our own efforts alone without a need for God’s help. However, a blessing acknowledges what God has done. Give God the glory for the good things that happen your way and watch God bless you even more when the going gets tough. Not by chance or reason, but by the grace of God.
Words can offer thanks, and with our words we can serve the Lord. We have a choice to choose our words carefully. Experiencing positive words changes our perspective in experiencing God.
To say “I am blessed” or “It was a blessing” serves God more than saying what the world says: “It was luck” or “I am lucky.” There is a power in our words.
But I tell you that men will have to give account on the Day of Judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.
Matthew 12:36-37 (see also Proverbs 16:1-3)
Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
Proverbs 12:19
Blessings and curses come from what we allow our tongues to say (see James 3:10). God hears every word that comes out of our mouths. Be careful for twenty-one days and challenge your heart to guard your tongue. Watch your luck change to being blessed in all that you do.
Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Simply let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No”; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
James 3:10; Ephesians 4:29; Matthew 5:37 (see also James 3:2-8)
I hope that these words have been a blessing to you Today on Dewey’s Daily Cup! I believe we will lift each other up in prayer Today, as we also we have a responsibility to love and pray for others!
Revelation knowledge: Don’t worry about yesterday, Shed guilt & simply repent and learn from your mistakes; don’t fret about tomorrow, God’s got that covered! Today is a good day to enjoy a brand New day that God has called Today!
Be blessed in all you do in your comings and your goings … smiles!
Love in Christ,
Karen Rowe …

From Dr Joe’s Medicine Bag-
Nosebleeds can sometimes look more serious than they actually are. The good news is that most — in adults and children — can be treated at home.
To stop a nosebleed
– Try to stay calm. Being upset usually makes the bleeding worse. Take slow, deep breaths from your abdomen.
– Sit down — but don’t lie down. Bleeding slows when your head is above your heart.
– Lean forward a bit — never back. This will help you avoid swallowing blood.
– Use your thumb and index finger to firmly pinch the lower, soft part of your nose. Don’t put tissues or gauze into your nose.
– Hold your nose for 10 continuous minutes.
– If bleeding continues, you might try gently blowing the nose to remove any clots. Then, pinch your nose for another 10 minutes.
– Once the bleeding stops, be careful with what you do as anything could make it start all over again. For example, don’t vigorously blow your nose, bend over, lift anything heavy or do strenuous activity; take it easy for a while.
If you’re still bleeding after 20 or 30 minutes, call your doctor. Also, be sure to seek medical care if the bleeding is caused by an injury.
Nosebleeds are often the result of overly dry nasal membranes — and can be caused by allergies or colds, as well. They can also be a side effect of certain medicines — or the sign of a health problem. If your nosebleeds are a frequent problem, talk with your doctor.
And, if you have a bleeding disorder — or take medicine that increases the risk of bleeding — ask your doctor how you should handle nosebleeds or other injuries.
