I have been studying on FAITH, I have been studying through the book recommended to me by my Dear friend Phil Arndt of Heights Christian Church. With Scripture and John Bevere’s book, Extraordinary Life, I am having a BALL! WOW! I AM SO ON FIRE! I continue to grow in my FAITH!!!!!!!
How much are we not receiving for our own lives, or MORE IMPORTANT how much are we not receiving to assist others in our arena of influence because we are not living by faith?
It is clear why people don’t receive what grace has already provided.
James bluntly states, “The reason you don’t have what you want is that you don’t ask God for it” James 4:2
He’s not talking about halfheartedly asking, but asking with determined faith.
The principle of God responding to our faith rather than to need applies to all areas of life, whether it’s the ability to walk in holiness, live creativity, apprehend wisdom or inspired ideas, or receive healing or deliverance from habitual behavior—-in short, to receive anything heaven has provided for our lives or, more importantly, for reaching our world with the gospel. We cannot minister effectively unless it is done in FAITH! In fact, James is bold enough to state that when we come to God for anything we must do it…….
in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord. James 1: 6-7
This is really important…..”Let not that man suppose that he will receive ANYTHING from the Lord.” Think of those words NO RECEIVE ANYTHING. That’s definite with no gray areas and no exceptions! God is making sure we get this POINT BLANK: HE responds to FAITH and nothing else.
FAITH is the pipeline that transports GRACE into our lives.
If we don’t have COMPLETE FAITH to access God’s grace to live extraordinary, then we will not have the ability to bring forth eternal fruit and destroy the works of the devil. We will not be able to fully accomplish our purpose. How then can we please God?
It is for this reason we are emphatically told, “No one can please God without faith” Hebrews 11:6
We need more faith; tell us how to get it. Luke 17:5
If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, “be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,” and it would obey you. verse 6
The key is getting into God’s Word..get it into our inner being: “For with the heart one believes” Romans 10:10 The heart is the seat of our belief, so this is where the seed must be planted. Jesus discusses this pivotal truth in the parable of the sower. In fact, understanding this principle is very important.Jesus states in Mark 4:13…….
If you don’t understand this story, you won’t understand any others.
I challenge you today to grab your Bible and read Matthew 13: 1-23
The seeds that fell along the path stand for those who hear; but the Devil comes and takes the message away from their hearts in order to keep them from believing. Luke 8:12
How does Satan take away God’s Word?
Through disappointing experiences, man made “Christian” traditions, human reasoning, erroneous beliefs we cling to.
“For with the heart one believes” Romans 10:10
I will leave you with this today. As My Daddy used to say this is where the rubber hit’s the road………
Often there is a time period that begins when we originally believe God for something specific and continues until the work is completed or manifested. This is the Critical belief period. It’s the period when what you are “believing for” hangs in the balance, we all have been there right? It can go either way, and it’s all according to your faith. Bevere says to people who are questioning why God did not come through for them, “Somewhere in the critical belief period, you believed more in the adversity than in God’s Word.!”
When I read that, it’s like a HUGE LIGHT went on in me! I have believed in past adversities more than God’s Word at times!!! Forgive me Lord!
We will, Lord willing pick this up on Tuesday!

Dewey, I just read this sermon and thought you might enjoy it. It kind of went with what the Cup was about today. Darlene Quiring
Old Fashioned Christianity [Old
Paths / Landmarks] by Jerry Shirley
Proverbs 22:28-22:28
Old Fashioned Christianity
Prov. 22:28
Perhaps the most applicable verse to the 21st Century!
We like to talk about the good ole daysand sometimes we long for them!
Game: Remember when
Say amen if you remember when
You clean your rug by hanging it up and hitting it w/ a stick?
You could walk to the grocery story and rattle off your list to the clerk, and he would fetch them for you?
Movie theatre was cheaper on Saturday, and you didnt have to worry about what you would see?
Got the latest news from the radio?
Doors of your home were seldom locked?
Didnt know you were poor because everyone else was just like you!?
Hobos would stop by your house for food and then do a chore?
You knew all the neighbors
Mother would can all the vegetables she could before winter
No a/c but you didnt know you were hotit was always that way!
At school you were expected to pay attention, and do what you were told the first time!
Most men worked 6 days a week
Drs. made house calls carrying all they needed in the little black bag
Gay meant happy
a mouse was a rhodent, not something in your hand at your desk
downloading was how you got the hay into the barn
a website was where spiders lived
when mom said time out it meant out in the woodshed
you hoped it wasnt raining when you needed the restroom!
Our society has come a long wayfor much of it we can be gladbut unfortunately, our society also feels like weve outgrown the need for God!
We Need Some Old Fashioned Preaching:
What is it? Some would say its a tone of voice or jumping pews. But what is the characteristic that sets the old preaching apart?
We need bold preaching w/out compromise. One of the greatest reasons for Americas moral washout is the watered down sermons coming from our pulpits! We need preachers to say, thus saith the Lord, w/out apology. A preacher w/out boldness is like a knife w/out an edge/gun w/out bullets/Mustang GT w/out an engine!
People today are very bold w/ their sin/out of closet/flaunt it/brag about it at watercooler/sometimes even Christians are bold about sin saying, thats who I am, like it or lump it!
Preachers ought to be bold, too, in crying out against sin! The need of the hour is prophets of God saying, repent, the kingdom of heaven is at hand!
IllBilly Sunday lived in the early 1900s/preached boldly against sin/a drunk before being saved/preached much on the wickedness of addictions/alcohol/one day was asked to tone it down, stop offending people, stop rubbing the cats fur the wrong way/he replied, Im not changing my preachinglet the cat turn around!
Bold preaching is avoided/feared in the 21st century
But not in the old days! What was the difference that made any difference? It wasnt the man, it was the message! How rough it was/how realhow it was said/ what was saidHow loud/how livedGood acting/good accuracyPersonality/purityWalking on eggshells/stepping on toes (truth hurts!)Fiery delivery as much as it is faithful contentguy pounding/God producing!
However, the fire today is also gone! Though the fire wasnt the man, but the message, though it wasnt delivery but contentthe fire causes more to listen!
Ill.one day a young preacher asked John Wesley how to get more people to come hear his preaching/I want bigger crowds!/Wesley said, allow God to set you on fire, and the people will come to watch you burn!
Pray for me that the fire of my content will spread to my delivery! (dont hesitate to help, eithersay amenlike sic em to a dog!)
Bold preaching is clear, concise, and direct. It should feel like its aimed right at you at times. The dedicated Christian seeks out a church where they can be uncomfortable!
Jokelittle boy came home from church, mom asked, what did the preacher preach on today?/thought a moment and said, he didnt say!
Unfortunately, around our city and across our nation, compromising, pussy-footing, pantywaste preachers stand up and try not to rock the boatjust talk 30 minutes w/out saying anything!
Ill.d.l. moody said that good preaching will make people get right or get mad!
3 areas where we need more old fashioned preaching:
1. Against sin
Sin: man calls it an accident/God calls it abomination
Blunder/blindnessby chance/by choicefascination/fatalityinfirmity/iniquityluxury/leprosyliberty/lawlessnesstrifle/tragedymistake/
madnessweakness/willfulness
I believe in being positivesharing the good news! But there is no good news until you face the bad news.
Ill.mail carrier who doesnt give you all your mail (we need preachers who will deliver all of Gods mail, and that includes the bills he sends when He reads our meters and the summons to appear before Him!)
All weve got today is junk mail about how to feel good about ourselves and add to society!
We need preachers to tell it like it is:
Abortion is murder, not a choice/homosexuality is an abomination, not an alternate lifestyle/alcoholism is a sin, not a symptom/not just a habit, its horrible!/its adultery, not just an affair/its more than just a one night stand, its one nasty sin/there is no safe sex outside of marriage!
We need more old-fashioned preaching against sin
2. About hell!
We need old-fashioned preachers like Jesus, who preached on hell, the destiny of the damnedJesus mentioned hell twice as much as heaven, but today were afraid to talk about it.
We moved here from the Bible Beltand our newspaper had an ad from a local church, targeted at our church, which read: looking for hell-fire, and damnation preaching? Tear up this ad! But if youre looking for a church that preaches a loving, understanding, forgiving God, come give us a try!
Lets never forget that the plan of salvation contains some very bad news at the beginning!
We need more preaching against sin, about hell
3. On sacrifice
We live in the day of comfortable Christianitybut Jesus, an old-fashioned preacher, majored on sacrifice!
Jesus said, if you want to follow me, you have to deny yourself, and take up your cross!
One day a group of men said to Jesus, well follow you wherever you go, and Jesus turned to them and said, foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the son of man has no place to lay His head!
He was serving notice: Im calling you to a life of sacrifice!
Today its all handed to usif its not easy, Im not interested.
Heres a note left by a dying missionary in Africait was found on his desk:
Im part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have stepped over the
line. The decision has been made. Im a disciple of Jesus Christ. I
wont look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is
redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure.
Im finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning,
smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap
living, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need preeminence, prosperity,
position, promotions, or popularity. I dont have to be
right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now
live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer
and labor by power.
My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow,
my way rough, my companions few, but my Guide is reliable, my mission clear.
I cannot be bought, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face
of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at
the table of the enemy or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I wont
give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed
up, paid up, preached up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till He comes, give till I drop,
preach till all know, and work till He stops me
We need more preaching on sacrifice/hell and judgment/against sin!
In other words, todays message starts w/ mebut we also need some old-fashioned Christians wholl get seriously sold out for God, wholl believe He can do it again (decision cards on table) wholl get on their knees begging God to do it againand Im not leaving my knees til you do it again!

June 11, 2012. God has plans to bless and prosper you. Special revelation of it will likely come through a dream, a trance, or some vivid picture created in your imagination. Visions involve foreseeing what is going to happen. He gives His vision loaded with promises and directives. A Gentile Roman soldier named Cornelius had a vision directing him to send a representative to Joppa to fetch a man named Peter. Simultaneously, the Apostle Peter fell into a trance (also referred to as a vision). He saw a sheet from Heaven with unclean food. He was directed to eat thereof, against the dietary laws of God. He was spared any judgment. As he related this story to Cornelius, he indicated he had come to extend grace and forgiveness to Cornelius. Cornelius was saved. On that day, the Gospel became available to all believing Gentiles and Jews alike. God has a vision for you also to bless and prosper you. Ask Him about it.

June 11, 2012. Your lack of joy is stemming from those who are not being and doing all they need to do and be. This also includes you. Your mind gravitates there, especially when you start to fall asleep. I know it is breaking your heart, but worry is not the answer. You can’t change them or change yourself on your own. The only way changes can happen is through Me. I can change your worrying about another by your surrender of the whole problem through prayer and leaving it with Me. When you need to do something I will show you. I can change each one when each one obeys, doing what I say.
Romans 11:33-36 (NASB) “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE Lord, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR? Or WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” Bev Robinson

June 11, 2012. As we approach Father’s Day this weekend. I cannot stop thinking about my daughter Kaytlin. Yesterday, my wife and daughter went to get new clothes for summer. Kaytlin was so excited to show off the new outfits to me one by one. With excitement each and every time, I was so delighted to see her sparkle. God says, “I have given you new garments to wear before Me. Will you display an excited show of your new clothes? I delight with every move you make toward Me! Your relationship with Me is exquisite! I have given you My very best. Receive with gladness all that is rightfully yours.”

Here’s Doctor Joe…………
Avoid In-Flight Flu and Other Airline Health Hazards
This is a big time for air travel, so I want to share with you some little-known risks.
Today, just stepping inside an airplane puts your health at greater risk than ever before. I’m not talking about airline accidents, and I don’t even mean the potential health dangers (or privacy invasions) associated with backscatter x-ray devices, or the groping of the TSA.
I’m referring to the incredibly high risk of getting sick from spending time inside a high-tech, aerodynamic germ trap. When you travel by plane, you are instantly 100 times more likely to catch a cold or come down with the flu than if you’d stayed grounded. Yes, 100 times!
Serious Medical Issues Stem from Air Travel
With more international flights and dangerous diseases like measles bouncing from country to country via plane, you have to worry about more serious illnesses, too – not that the flu can’t be deadly serious.
Air travel also puts you at higher risk of a life-threatening pulmonary embolism – even if you’ve never been diagnosed with heart disease or circulation problems.
Frequent flying can damage your hearing… and even jet lag is tied to some nasty, long-term health risks.
Even with all the dangers, I certainly don’t recommend that you forego flying. If you need to get somewhere far away, there’s just not a more convenient way to go. So, instead of cancelling your travel plans, let’s take a look at what you can do to protect yourself when you fly…
The Most Common Flight Risk
More than anything else, when you fly you risk being laid up with a cold or the flu. Even though these illnesses are typically minor, they’re no fun and best avoided if possible.
When you fly, make sure you drink lots of water. The low humidity in the cabin dries out your nasal passages, which makes it easier for viruses to gain a foothold in your body and make you sick. You can combat this effect by staying hydrated.
You don’t have to guzzle gallons of water, but sip on water often – before and during your flight.
You can also help to prevent colds by using a nasal mist, by keeping your hands clean (I’m not a major advocate of hand sanitizers, but I make an exception when flying), and by taking extra vitamin C, zinc, and vitamin A leading up to a trip.
Protect Yourself from Dangerous Blood Clots
I had a very close friend die from this. He was flying in from Israel back to Dallas, Texas.
When you fly, the changes in pressure, the prolonged inactivity, and even the extra-dry air may cause what is known as deep vein thrombosis, or DVT. Many doctors believe that air flight causes changes in your circulation that trigger small blood clots to form in your legs, particularly on long flights where you may be inactive for hours.
Sometimes one of these clots is big enough to block the flow of blood to the rest of your leg. When that happens, your leg begins to ache and may swell. The real danger is if one of these clots breaks free and lodges in the artery that leads to your lungs. That’s a pulmonary embolism, and it can be deadly. This is what happened to my friend…he died instantly on his front porch within an hour after he got home from the airport.
People at the highest risk of DVT are those who have cancer or heart disease, who are overweight, who have been sick, or who have had a recent surgery. Taking hormone-altering drugs can also increase your risk. You can reduce your risk by making it a point to move around during your flight.
Here a few health tips to consider before your next flight:
– Wear loose-fitting clothes.
– Go for a stroll – stand up and walk around the cabin at least once every hour.
– Stretch in your seat. Twist and look over one shoulder and hold the stretch. Then twist the other way. Circle your ankles to stretch your calves. Pull one knee toward your chest and hold it for a moment. Then do the other. Stretch often during the flight. If you use the restroom, take an extra minute to do some bigger stretches while you’re up.
– Try to select a seat with extra leg room or opportunities to get up. An aisle seat, an exit row seat, or a business-class or first-class seat can all give you extra space and mobility. Seat upgrades can cost you extra, but they may be worthwhile in terms of comfort and health.
– Drink lots of water.
– Take a brisk walk through the airport during your layovers.
– Wear support socks designed to help circulation.
– Consider wearing a filter mask, especially on international flights, or when travelling through airports with large numbers of international passengers such as Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington Dulles.
– If you do have any signs or symptoms of DVT in the days following air travel, see a doctor quickly.
Prevent Hearing Damage
The constant roar of a jet’s engines can eventually take a toll on your hearing, especially if you’re a frequent flyer. In this case, protection is simple. Invest in a pair of noise reduction headphones and wear them for the better part of the flight.
Don’t Let Jet Lag Wear You Down
A long-term health risk associated with flying is jet lag. When you travel across time zones, you can mix up your internal clock and your sleep patterns. The short-term risks of jet lag include headaches, nausea, and insomnia. Long-term risks of frequent jet lag include cognitive decline and mood disorders. It can also contribute to heart disease and certain cancers.
You can minimize the impact of jet lag on your body by gradually adjusting your sleep schedule during the week before a trip. Make sure you get a full night’s sleep before you depart. Once you board the plane, set your watch to your new time zone. Once you arrive at your destination, get outside and walk around. Don’t go to bed until a normal time for the time zone you’re in. And, one more time… stay hydrated. It will help you adjust more quickly.
Being able to fly from one destination to the next is a major convenience and not one that I’m willing to give up. By following the tips here, you can make sure that you stay healthy before, during, and after your trip.
Tomorrow, “Does Sugar Make You Stupid?”
