Dear Family of Jesus,
Good Morning my Dear friends!

What a HUGE day in the LORD yesterday!
Let us pray for Jannetta who is on her way to California for her son’s graduation! PTL! Let us pray for Becky Franks as she continues to recover. Let us give thanks to Ernie and Cathy who have given us a financial gift to re-launch “Dewey and Friends: on KAZQ CH 32! What a blessing! I get asked more and more about the TV program and so I am just thrilled in the LORD that this all took place yesterday with the help of Pastor Ray Franks!

The Holy Spirit is moving in a MOST POWERFUL way here at the CUP and on the RADIO! Read this note from Michael…
Dear Dewey,
Wow, this morning as I’ve just read your CUP, I’m in tears. That scripture from Psalm 112 was LIFE to me this morning! And your sharing about facing health issues, and overcoming them is something I’ve been dealing with as well. When we meet next week, I’d like to ask you about the Doctors you’ve mentioned. I’m looking forward to seeing you. Thanks so much for your honesty, and thanks again for allowing God to use you!

The scripture Michael is referring to is……….“…A righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.” – Psalm 112:6-8
My prayer is that we will hold up all Men and show this scripture to them! AMEN! Father’s Day is fast approaching, let us be in prayer for all Dad’s…..I encourage two books for Dad’s, Courageous from the movie and Tony Evans book, Kingdom Man.
Yesterday was the 68th Anniversary of D-Day, not much mentioned about it in the United States. I am so thankful that I grew up in a time where I was surrounded by the WWII Generation! Men that lived Psalm 112: 6-8! PRAISE GOD!
The LORD has really impressed upon me to share about the HOLY SPIRIT, DISCERNMENT, A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM……..be CHRIST like!
Yesterday Victor asked, “”we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Cor 2:16. He asked what does this mean?…….He said Dr. Joe Fawcett advised him to dig deeper into the meaning of “the mind of Christ” because of the relation between the mind and physical pain we experience. Victor lives with back pain. Yesterday I had Pastor Leonard Navarre and Pastor Derek Smith share their thoughts on the radio.
I also share this verse at this time again, as the LORD shows me too………Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do.” John 14:12…….keep this Word of God in your mind as you read this….from Pastor Phil Holt………..Not our Paul Holt but Phil Holt……..
What Does It Mean to Have the Mind of Christ?
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him”- 10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. 14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment: 16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord that He may instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-16
1 Corinthians 2:16 tells us “we have the mind of Christ.” What does this mean? Let’s begin with what it does not mean? Having the mind of Christ certainly does not mean we always think pure thoughts. Therefore, the mind of Christ cannot refer to our natural brain or that which controls the thinking in our head. But isn’t this the only “mind” we have? Maybe not.
The context tells us exactly what it means to have the mind of Christ. First, notice how much the Holy Spirit and the human spirit are mentioned: “His Spirit” (v. 10); “The Spirit” (v. 10); “man’s spirit” (v. 11); “Spirit of God” (v. 11); “Spirit who is from God” (v. 12); “the Spirit” (v. 13); “the Spirit” (v. 14); “the Spirit of God” (v. 14); “spiritual man” (v. 15). Second, notice how many times Paul mentions spiritual discernment or the ability to know something that is of God: “revealed to us by His Spirit” (v. 10); “understand what God has freely given us” (v. 12); “spiritually discerned” (v. 14); “known the mind of the Lord” (v. 16).
Now, let’s put the two together. To have the mind is the supernatural ability, from the Holy Spirit, to know in our spirit the things of God.
In other words, when we receive Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit into our spirit. We are indwelt with the Holy Spirit at this moment and forever. An added bonus to receiving the Holy Spirit into our spirit involves our spirit receiving a “mind” of sorts. This spiritual mind allows us to know in our spirit the things of God. These things from God can include our identity in Christ, insights into Scripture, knowledge of God, discernment, direction, the love of God, or anything that is of God.
The verse that best summarizes what it means to have the mind of Christ is v. 12: “We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.” What a blessing to have the mind of Christ. All Christians have this spiritual ability to know and discern what is from God. Like most gifts, we have to exercise it in order for it to be strong.
So, how can we make sure we exercise the mind of Christ? Here are a few suggestions:
- Whenever you read or study the Bible, don’t simply rely on your natural brain, but instead ask God to supernaturally help you to discern truths with your spiritual mind.
- Concentrate your attention on two main areas: the character of God and your identity in Christ.
- Whenever you don’t know what to do, ask the Holy Spirit to give you direction.
- Take time in prayer to listen to God. Ask God to reveal to your spiritual mind whatever He wants to tell you. Be silent, wait on the Lord, and receive whatever He gives to you.
- Give attention to those “impressions” you get from time to time. More often than not, these impressions are God speaking to you in this “mind of Christ” that you have.
What a great adventure to follow the Lord. Having the mind of Christ is another wonderful way to enjoy walking with God.
Great words from Pastor Holt……..We also have been talking about our Daily Walk with Jesus Christ……….I encourage you to always picture Jesus Christ right beside you. We must awake early and soak in the goodness of God, read His Word and pray.
My Dear Friends, Let us have the mind of Christ in everything we do and say……let us be so into the Holy Spirit that we do wondrous works of the Lord. Let us PRESS INTO GOD………picture that……that is what Pastor Bill Ruhl keeps encouraging me to do..keep pressing into God…….great word picture……
Lori shares this on starting our day with the LORD!
Establishing A Daily Habit Of Reading God’s Word
How To Study God’s Word:
Jeremiah 30:21 says “I will bring him near and he will come close to me, for who is he who will devote himself to be close to me?”
If a carpenter is up on a ladder trying to work on a roof, does he get down from his ladder each time he needs a nail and look through the whole pile to choose just the right one? Or, does he carry the nails close to him in a belt that while he is on the ladder working he can easily reach in and grab the nearest… most available nail?
This is much of what the Lord is saying in Jeremiah 30:21. Which of us will come close to Jesus, and devote ourselves to being close to him…and available for him to use? This is the person who the Lord will use. J The Lord will use the person who is devoted to Him and who makes himself available and who yields his will to Jesus.
Proverbs 8:32-34 “Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways. Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching DAILY at my doors, waiting at my doorway.”
So, the first thing that I would encourage you to do to be close and to become more available to the Lord, is to spend time DAILY in God’s Word, praying and waiting upon the Lord and His direction and voice for your life.
There is no hard and fast “rule” about what time of day, but I have found and heard from many others that spending time with God first thing in the morning, is the best way to start your day…before your day quickly begins to “unravel”.
As I choose to count it important to draw close to the Lord, and give him the “first fruits” of my day, time and effort, He blesses it in such a way that is so amazing. We often feel as busy wives and mothers that if we get up early, we’ll never have enough energy to make it through our day. This is not what I’ve found to be true. I have instead seen the opposite be true….that the benefits of spending this early morning time with Jesus, FAR outweighs the few minutes of sleep I would have gotten had I slept in. God blesses my effort to get up, deny self and to spend time with him in ways that multiply my strength, endurance and rest!
Than you Lori.
You will find my friends by Reading the CUP and drinking it……and spending much more time in God’s Word and praying first thing in the morning that you have then put on the Armour of God and are ready to go through your day! PTL!!!!!!!!!!!

June 7, 2012. If you are biting and devouring one another, you are running the risk of destroying one another. Every time you criticize and judge a person, you are taking a bite at or even out of them. More than once lately, I have found it compelling to tell the perpetrators to “just stop it. You don’t know what you are doing. You are destroying your witness, harming yourself and laying up for you curses that will have cause to come back upon you.” The amazing thing is that those doing this have almost always gradually gotten into the biting and devouring without knowing it has progressed so far. So, when confronted, they stop. Praise God. I have to daily examine myself to see if I am guilty of the same thing since I see it so clearly in others. God forgive me.

June 7, 2012. My power is available to you. When you gave your life and heart to Me you experienced the great exchange. At the time you made the decision you did not know all that you received, but in reality you have exchanged your life for mine. My power is within you and available to you and others around you. Be aware of My Presence and power wherever you are. Sometimes there will be opportunity to express yourself through it dynamically and sometimes it will be more passive, but be aware it is always attracting others. Whatever the need, be aware and responsive. My power attracts and gives opportunity to share Me.

June 7, 2012. I overheard someone say, that when they were in a particular person’s presence, they felt the school principal just walked in the room. They sensed they had to exhibit excellent behavior and have their A game on. Some have this mindset when they are around their pastor. The Lord says, “You are all My sheep. I receive your exceptional traits which make you unique. I believe only the best for you. Your pastor does also. Accept with open arms those who have My charge over you. Refuse to let any intimidation or fear hinder you. I desire fellowship with you. Those who have spiritual responsibility over you desire rapport as well.”
1 Peter 4:9-11 (NASB) “Be hospitable to one another without complaint. As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Kevin Robinson
Here’s Doc Joe………..
There are a number of ways to lose weight that can be hazardous to your physical and mental well-being. Here are several of the common worst ways to lose weight.
No Calorie Diet: Our bodies need fat, plus healthy fats actually help you burn fat. Unfortunately, the zero-calorie trend is one of the most popular, leading people to consume harmful artificial sweeteners in the name of losing weight. Also, diet drinks can actually cause weight gain.
Drugs and pills: We’re all familiar with this one and we know there’s not a magic pill that will make you skinny. Sadly, drugs, like cocaine, are often used as a quick fix for weight-loss. But in the long run they can severely damage your heart and your brain. There are certain supplements that can aid in fat-burning, but they must go along with healthy eating and exercise, and the healthy supplements are whole-food based.
Fad Diets: The Annals of Internal Medicine reviewed 10 of the nation’s most popular weight-loss programs and found that except for Weight Watchers, none of them show proof that they actually work at helping people lose weight and keep it off. About 45 million Americans diet each year, spending $1 billion to 2 billion each year on weight-loss programs. Yet America remains the most obese country on earth. Not eating a balanced diet will not help you lose weight and can actually inhibit any weight-loss.
Skipping Meals: This approach may appear to make sense, but really it’s a harmful and unhealthy way to lose weight. Your metabolism increases after eating, and if you chronically skip meals, your metabolism can slow down and actually lead to weight gain. Starving or skipping meals is extremely ineffective in weight-loss.
Purging: Purposely throwing up is incredibly dangerous to your health. Purging often comes with serious psychological effects on the individual. The act of throwing up is either a symptom of, or leads to bulimia and it can also increase your cravings for unhealthy foods. Purging creates an illusion that the hunger craving has been satisfied by consuming food, but the calories are lost by throwing it up.
Laxatives: Excessive use of laxatives in the form of pills, powders, suppositories and teas in order to lose weight is not a new concept. Continuous use will weaken your digestive system and can cause abdomen related complications. Avoid!
Smoking: Another popular way to suppress hunger. Smoking sends vague signals to the brain which increase the metabolic rate, and consequently kill hunger. Chronic smokers can skip meals and not feel any effect. However, this method causes long term damage as the body becomes weak and more susceptible to cancers and other infections.
Over-Exercising: If your body is already undernourished, over-exercising can be one of the worst things you can do to lose weight. Sticking to a rigorous exercise regime can rarely be considered a bad thing, but extensive amounts of cardio won’t help you drop the remaining weight. Burst training for 20 minutes, 3-5 times per week is an appropriate amount, along with strength training.
Working out and sticking to a healthy way of eating (NO fad diets) should complement one another in order to lose weight in a healthy way. Losing weight requires a lifestyle change, especially if you want it to stay off. It’s hard work, eating healthy and exercising.
