From Max Lucado…….
Water for the Soul Posted: 02 Dec 2011 10:01 PM PST “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” John 7:37 NKJV |
Ask God to prepare you. “Do not be surprised at the fiery trial, as if something strange were happening to you.” 1 Peter 4:12
Jesus, my Savior and Giant killer, I trust you with my heart and give you my life. I ask for mercy, strength, and eternal life. AMEN!
When we lose all sense of knowing God as He is, we try to make God out of what He is not.” AW Tozer
I have taken the following from a collection of writings of Max Lucado
When accusers called Him a son of satan, Jesus asked for their proof. “Can any of you convict me of a single misleading word, a single sinful act?” John 8:46. No one could. Disciples traveled with him. Enemies scrutinized Him. Admirers studied Him. But no one could convict Him of sin. No one spotted Him in the wrong place, heard Him say the wrong words, or saw Him respond in the wrong way. Peter, three years Jesus’s companion said, “He never did one thing wrong. Not once said anything amiss” 1 Peter 2:22 msg Pilate was the head of the Roman CIA, yet when he tried to find fault with Jesus, he failed. John 18:38 Even the demons called Jesus “the Holy One of God” Luke 4:34 niv
Jesus never missed the mark!!
Our universe is God’s preeminent missionary. “The heavens declare the glory of God” Ps 19:1. A house implies a builder; a painting suggests a painter. Don’t stars suggest a star maker?Doesn’t creation imply a creator? “The heavens declare His righteousness” Ps 97:6 nkjv. Look above you!
“There is something deep within humanity that echo’s God’s yes and no, right and wrong” Romans 2:15 msg. When atheists decry injustice, they can thank God for the ability to discern it. The conscience of God’s fingerprint, proof of his existence.
“To whom, then, will you compare God?” the prophet invites, Isa. 40:18,. To whom indeed? “Human hands can’t serve our daily needs—-for He has no needs” Acts 17:25 nlt. You and I start our days needy. Indeed, basic needs prompt us to climb out of bed. Not God. Uncreated and self-sustaining, He depends on nothing and no one. never taken a nap or a breath. Needs no food, counsel, or physician. “The Father has life in Himself” John 5:26. Life is to God what wetness is to water and air is to wind. He is not just alive but life itself. God is, without help.
Hence, He always is. “before mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. Ps 90:2 nkjv.
God never began and will never cease. He exists endlessly, always. “The number of His years is unsearchable” Job 36:26 nasb
He is “the eternal God” Rom. 16:26. he invented time and owns the patent. “The day is yours, and yours also the night” Ps 74:16. he was something before anything else was. When the first angel lifted the first wing, God had already always been.
Oh my is this not beautiful! If you are not in AWE, you should be!

Pastor Marvin Capehart went to be with the Lord this afternoon Dec. 3. He and his wife Jan had been living in Logan, NM with their daughter and son-in-law. The celebration of Marvin’s life will be at FBC Albuquerque on Saturday Dec. 10 at 10 a.m.
Before the Capeharts became part of the First Baptist Family some 7 years ago, Marvin Capehart was long time pastor of Alameda Baptist Church in the North Valley.
Marvin Capehart affected the life of thousands of New Mexican’s with his “Ask the Pastor” radio program on KKIM which aired for nearly 40 years. Ask The Pastor is the longest running talk show in New Mexico broadcast history, as it continues this day on KKIM, with Pastor Mark Tross, who Marvin mentored and Pastor Paul Holt. Marvin also served as a police chaplain for decades and if I remember correctly established a record for the years of his service to the Albuquerque Police Department.
Marvin was also the voice of New Mexico Baptists at the New Mexico State Legislature until just a few years ago. He and Jan knew every state rep and senator and literally stayed in Santa Fe full time during the 30 day and 60 day sessions.
Marvin and Jan met at her home church in St. Louis when she was a college student and Marvin came to visit a friend there. Their life is a wonderful love story of a marriage of more than 50 years as a pastor and pastor’s wife who were a team in all they did as they served the Lord.
Let us be in prayer for the Jan and the Family.
Just a reminder the Hank the Bible Answer Man starts tonight on KKIM at 9pm an hour long program. What a wonderful night time Bible study! Enjoy!
Pastor Bill Ruhl is with us for another Financial news report……..
Financial News You Need To Know #7:
Reading Dr. Joe’s “Medical Bag” here in “Dewey’s Cup” this past Wednesday struck a familiar chord in me concerning financial advice I’ve given out. I too have had a number of “patients” come to me for financial (health) advice over the years and my prescription for good financial health has always been, “Start with a well balanced budget (diet).” Sometimes years later, these same “patients” will come back in, still hurting, financially “overweight”, and debt ridden. They throw all their financial information down on my desk and in total frustration blurt out, “I give up!” My first question, much like Dr. Joe’s, is, “Did you implement any of the suggestions I gave you?” When the answer comes back, “No!”, I simply smile and say, “Then you are not giving up, you just haven’t started!”
I encourage each person experiencing symptoms of financial crisis to get started with a simple prescription of the generic wonder drug known as “The Budget”. Within a very short period of time, just as the natural body begins to respond and heal when properly cared for, so will your financial “body” (budget) kick in and begin to show positive results. What’s the key to to good health naturally and financially? Follow the prescribed plan of action given out by the world’s greatest expert in all fields. No, not Dr. Joe or myself, we are just His messengers. God’s Word has the keys to life… In health, in finance, in every matter. Study to show yourself approved, seek wise counsel, and implement what you have learned. Really, it’s that simple! Proverbs says, “Steady plodding brings prosperity!” (NLT) That’s a Good Word and that’s The Financial News You Need To Know to keep you healthy, wealthy, and wise. I’m Bill Ruhl with Global Destiny Ministry. Be Blessed By Being A Blessing!
Here is this mornings Medical Bag with Dr. Joe……….
Chronic pain suffered by one spouse can affect marital communication and influence the partner’s ability to cope with a chronic pain condition, according research reported in The Journal of Pain, published by the American Pain Society, www.ampainsoc.org.
Psychological research has shown that how a spouse or partner responds to an individual’s behavior affects how and when emotions are expressed. For example, validation of a partner’s emotions by showing respect and acceptance promotes effective emotional regulation, trust and closeness. Conversely, invalidation of emotions, demonstrated by hostility or ignoring, increases emotional distance and is correlated with poor marital adjustment and depression. From a clinical perspective, the authors believe their research shows patient gender is an important factor when assessing and treating pain patients and couples. Interventions, therefore, should be aimed at the couple, not just the pain patients, in order to help reduce invalidating behaviors and remarks and disruptive responses to them. Empathy training was recommended.
This is from Anita…………Thanks for sending!
To a Special Person
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT IT’S CHRISTIAN PERSON WEEK AND YOU SHOULD SEND THIS TO ALL BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN PEOPLE.
When I say that ‘I am a Christian’, I am not shouting that ‘I am clean living. I’m whispering ‘I was lost, but now I’m found and forgiven.’
When I say ‘I am a Christian’, I don’t speak of this with pride. I’m confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’, I’m not trying to be strong. I’m professing that I’m weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’, I’m not bragging of success. I’m admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’, I’m not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’, I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’, I’m not holier than thou, I’m just a simple sinner who received God’s good grace, somehow!
Today is Beautiful Christian Person’s Day.
Pretty is as Pretty does but, Beautiful is just plain Beautiful..
HALLELUJAH!!! Thank you Anita!!!
