Dear KKIM/KARS/SHINE Family,
May God be with you and yours this day…………
Are you maturing in your relationship with Jesus Christ? or are you stuck in idle? Do you know we are called to even be more mature in our most important relationship in life, and that is to be with JESUS!
Isaiah 40:31 “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not grow weary. They shall walk and not grow faint.”
More later in this CUP!
Sharon and I would be thankful for your prayers for her Mother, Betty. Betty is back in the hospital. She sure is having a rough time. Ever since she went in to just have a bunion removed, and then her foot get’s infected and then blood poisoning…….and it has affected much of her body. We are very concerned this morning of her condition.
Your prayers are very much appreciated for compete healing.
Dorothy Paladichuk of Sidney Montana was taken to the hospital on Sunday, they thought she was having a heart attack, Dorothy used to listen to me when I was an announcer at KGCX!She will be spending a few days in ICU as they check her out.
Please pray for Dorothy and Betty, two Godly women.
It takes a lot to shock this old man anymore..but I sure was when I picked up the Albuquerque Journal yesterday and on the front page an old friend (at least I thought he was!) Tony Oliva who lived in Placitas, NM and was one of the leaders of Family Lifeline, has been named in a June 2010 Securities and Exchange complaint alleging involvement in two alleged Ponzi schemes here in New Mexico. I have not heard from Tony in maybe 4 or even 5 years…….he now lives in England where is wife is from. It just breaks my heart to read this…The last time I talked to him he told me that he was doing investments. For a short time Tony did a program for Teens on KKIM. I first met Tony through a good friend. We prayed and cried together. He became a good friend.
I am so sad when I read this…….From Bill Corfits of Minnesota, “We were assured these people (Oliva and other associated with his investment company) were Christian, we would do prayer over the phone, we got comfortable with them.”
Santa Fe resident Alex Travis said, “He was charismatic and we just followed him.”
According to documents filed by the SEC in U.S. District Court, Oliva, “played the role of ring leader” in the effort to attract the investors who now stand to lose most if not all of their combined $6.7 million investment.
Tony has pleaded no contest to the SEC civil complaint.
The Journal article states that Tony made just over a half million bucks in a 16 month span, between May 08 and Sept. 09.
The write up in the Journal goes onto say that Oliva used his Church ties and members of his Bible study group to make investments that earned him referral fees.
Now I understand when I have asked old Friends of Tony, they have been elusive in their answers.
It just breaks my heart..I am weeping, where a Man that said he knew God and would speak God’s Word at Family Life Line and on KKIM would take such a sudden fall into Satan’s lap.
We need to pray for Tony and his wife. Let us pray that Tony be delivered from this!!!
I have been prayed over in the last couple of weeks and Mentor’s Gary Milliron and Pastor Jim Montoya saying people will try to use you Dewey and the Ministry.
We spend time in prayer and seek the Lord’s Will in bringing new Ministries on the radio.
I, like you have had people use me, I have had people use the Ministry for their agenda, but the Lord put’s a stop to it.
We are a very trusting Ministry…….as we continue to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ our discernment grows also.
We also have more than a dozen Pastor’s around us to give us Godly council.
I am approached everyday by email or phone call or text or fax with people that have an agenda …..most do…….I cannot any longer get back to all as I once did.
I pray over each request thou…….I sure do……..I pray with my whole heart……..
There is an increase in Fraud, Ponzi schemes, mis-representation……
Seek the Lord in everything you do…….just because one says so…..doesn’t mean so……..
PRAY….LISTEN…….seek council of an accountability group……we all need that!
Beware of Wolves in sheep’s clothing…….
It would be good for you now to revisit yesterday’s CUP where we talked about LEADERSHIP!
Too many people who say they are a Christian end up doing Monkey business, the flesh, Satan overtakes their life.
That is why we preach, we all need to have a close, close personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we need to have a FIRM foundation in our LORD! We need to have a group of Believers around us to hold us accountable! This group needs to be one that asks tough questions of us.
Apparently, Tony suffered from no accountability group.
Be careful who your teachers are………
I always tell my kid’s and also those who I work with to question me..Question me on anything…….ask questions, just don’t do……..This from our new friend Darlene…….
Great teachers will not only tolerate your incessant questioning, they will push you to do so.
I grew up around leaders who invited questions….freedom happens when you allow people to ask questions.
And if you don’t have the answer you work together to find it.
I want to share with you this story from Pastor Robert Lewis……..
Yesterday I preached on How Goduses the storms of life , whether it’s a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, flood, loss of job, divorce, end of a relationship..etc..the storms of life…….
I wish you could have heard the Words that God put in my mouth! WOW! The HOLY SPIRIT set me afire yesterday with the message from God. Not my Words, God’s Words.
I love it when people ask me how do you know it’s God’s Word…….don’t have enough time to answer that hear, just to say when you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you know!, and those around you in your accountability group know.
Anyhow Robert shared this with me…………..
God may use storms in our life to PROJECT US!!!!!!
God wants you to move to the next level of spiritual maturity and HE will use trouble and trials to make it happen!!!!
God wants to take you to new heights in your life and he will use the storms to do it!
Did you know that an Eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it happens?
An eagle will fly to an extremely high spot and wait for the winds to come.
When the storm hits, it sets its wings so the storm will pick up and lift it above the storm.
While the storm rages below, the eagle safely soars above it.
When the storms of life come……you may be going through one right now, and I know you don’t want to hear this, but if you have clear skies today, sooner or later you will be going through a storm..but when the storms of life come, we can rise above them by setting our minds on things above!
We can allow God’s power to lift us up and give us strength through any storm that comes our way!
Isaiah 40:31……we all have read this verse many times, but DO WE BELIVE IT!!!!!
“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not grow weary. They shall walk and not grow faint.”
I thank Pastor Robert Lewis for sharing with me so I can share with others.
Today please read the following………..
James 1:12
2 Cor. 1: 1-11
2 Cor. 4: 1-12
It would be great for you to read the entire verses 1 and 4
PRAISE GOD! let the WORD of GOD absorb into you heart, mind and soul.
We have the haze and the smell here in Albuquerque and surrounding area…….
GREER, Ariz. – New evacuations have been ordered for communities along Arizona’s eastern edge as a huge wildfire creeps toward more homes.
The Apache County sheriff’s office ordered an unknown number of residents along Highway 180 east of Alpine to evacuate their homes Sunday afternoon. The area is very close the border with New Mexico.
Alpine has been under mandatory evacuation orders since Thursday night.
Fire spokesman Eric Neitzel says the fire is not moving fast but has gotten close enough to the subdivisions to require residents to get out.
The evacuation area includes Escudilla (es-koo-DEE’-ah) Mountain Estates, Bonita, Dog Patch, and the H-V Ranch, plus county roads 4000, 4001 and 4225.
THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP’s earlier story is below.
A 225-square-mile blaze that has grown into the third-largest fire in Arizona’s history covered a mountain vacation town in a smoky fog Sunday, as wind blew smoke from the burning pine forest well into nearby New Mexico and Colorado.
Crews have not contained the fire near the New Mexico-Arizona state line, which has forced residents to evacuate from several mountain towns.
In the vacation town of Greer, which has fewer than 200 year-round residents, many voluntarily left on Saturday. Those who remained, mostly business owners, dealt with haze heavily tinged with smoke on Sunday. Among them was the owner of the 101-year-old Molly Butler Lodge, who was hauling out his most valuable items.
Allan Johnson spent the morning getting antiques, including an 1886 table brought by covered wagon from Utah and a 1928 Oldsmobile the lodge uses for weddings, out of the fire’s path. He said he was not taking reservations but was keeping open the restaurant, mainly as a meeting place.
Greer is within miles of the fire, which officials expect will grow given a windy forecast and expected dry lightning Sunday and Monday. If the blaze comes within two miles of a containment line nearby, the town will be evacuated.
“We’re all waiting for the word,” Johnson said. “It could be 24 hours, could be eight hours. It might not happen at all — that’s what we’re all rooting and praying for.”
Winds died down overnight, allowing crews to burn 30 miles of containment lines between active and unburned areas that create a buffer from the most violent wind-driven runs.
“It gives a much greater chance of it having diminished fire behavior as it approaches the lines,” fire information officer Peter Frenzen told The Associated Press. “And that’s the concern, that you might get intense fire activity that might throw embers over the line and spot beyond our control lines.”
On Saturday, Gov. Jan Brewer called the blaze “horrific” following an aerial tour and said it was “the likes of a fire of which I have never experienced from the air.”
In Nutrioso, the blaze came within two miles of homes, and heavy yellowish smoke in Alpine reduced visibility to about a quarter mile. Smoke drifted into northwestern New Mexico towns such as Fence Lake and Zuni Pueblo, said National Weather Service meteorologist Mark Fetting, and was expected as far north as Gallup. The haze also could reach as far as Albuquerque by Monday.
Spokesman Brad Pitassi said 1,300 firefighters were at the blaze, including some “from Oregon all the way to New York.”
Since the blaze started May 29, four summer rental cabins have been destroyed, the U.S. Forest Service said. No serious injuries have been reported.
The fire is the state’s third-largest, behind a 2002 blaze that blackened more than 732 square miles and one in 2005 that burned about 387 square miles in the Phoenix suburb of Cave Creek.
The state also was contending with another major wildfire, its fifth-largest, in far southeastern Arizona that threatened a church camp and two communities. Air crews dumped water and retardant near the Methodist church camp Saturday as the 156-square-mile blaze burned around the evacuated camp in the steep Pine Canyon near the community of Paradise.
Paradise, as well as East Whitetail Canyon, was evacuated in advance and the nearby Chiricahua National Monument was closed as a precaution. Crews set backfires and kept the blaze from about a dozen occupied homes and other vacation residences Saturday.
“Paradise, even though they did protect it from the initial fire that passed by the day before yesterday, it’s still not totally out of the woods,” said Dave Killebrew, an information officer for the team battling the blaze.
INDIANA IS BEING THE SALT AND LIGHT……………
INDIANAPOLIS – A looming showdown over Indiana’s new law that cuts funding for the Planned Parenthood organization may test how far Republican-led states are willing to go in pressing their tough new anti-abortion agendas. The stakes are high. The future of health care for more than 1 million poor and elderly Indiana residents hangs in the balance.
Indiana became the first state this year to cut off all government funds to Planned Parenthood, fulfilling conservatives’ goal of financially weakening organizations that provide abortions. Other conservative states have considered such action in recent years but backed away under the threat of loss of all federal money for their Medicaid programs.
The willingness of Indiana, led by a Republican governor and GOP-controlled Legislature, to challenge the federal government and risk a huge financial penalty could take the issue into uncharted legal and political territory. Conservative leaders in other states will be watching the confrontation as they plan their own action on abortion and other social issues.
“I think this is an instance in which a state is really trying to overturn national policy and in so doing is likely to forego federal funding,” said Christopher Arterton, professor of political management at George Washington University and an expert on federal-state issues.
Is Indiana willing to risk $4.3 billion in Medicaid money to strike a blow for the right-to-life movement? Some conservative members of Republican-controlled legislatures argue it’s time for states to risk serious penalties to defend their principles and throw off federal mandates. And the Medicaid program, with its rising costs and strict rules, has been a particular target of ire.
Is the Obama administration actually willing to leave low-income families without health care to punish a defiant state?
“Like any game of chicken, it’s about who blinks first,” said Ed Haislmaier, senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Health Policy, a conservative think-tank.
Planned Parenthood has filed suit to challenge Indiana’s law, so the courts could have a say in how the dispute is resolved.
The Obama administration directed Indiana this week to drop its ban on Planned Parenthood, which the legislature passed this spring after becoming considerably more Republican and conservative in last fall’s midterm election. The Department of Health and Human Services said the state cannot legally pick and choose which agencies provide health care to people covered by the federal-state program. The warning letter cited a federal statute that directs the withholding of all Medicaid funding from a state if it violates federal law.
White House spokesman Jay Carney said this week that 19 states have gotten into disputes with the Obama administration over health care funding, and all amended their plans to keep their money. He said he expects Indiana to do the same.
Arizona reversed course last year after HHS threatened to withhold money because the state had frozen its children’s health program. Some Republican lawmakers in Texas also proposed dropping out of the Medicaid program this year but backed away because of the financial impact.
Republican lawmakers in Indiana are refusing to back down.
“Indiana’s on solid legal ground,” said state Sen. Scott Schneider, an Indianapolis Republican who sponsored the measure to cut off Planned Parenthood. “There’s no reason for us to change course at this time.”
Indiana conservatives are clearly hoping the administration will blink if it comes to cutting off health insurance for poor people. The money pays for all kinds of routine health care.
The White House and HHS “have made the decision they are willing to drive those stakes that much higher at the risk of poor people’s health,” said Sue Swayze, legislative director of Indiana Right to Life, which is supporting the Indiana law.
Carrying out the threat could be difficult, Haislmaier said.
“From a political standpoint it is interesting whether the Obama administration has really thought through the implications,” he said.
Possible compromises or half-measures could settle the matter.
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, who did not push for the Planned Parenthood law, could ask state lawmakers to repeal it. The federal court in Indianapolis that is hearing Planned Parenthood’s legal challenge could block the law from going into effect, buying time for changes.
The federal Medicaid statute also gives HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius latitude to withhold only a portion of Indiana’s Medicaid dollars, cushioning the impact.
Senate Appropriations Chairman Sen. Luke Kenley, a Republican who supported the Planned Parenthood ban, said the state should seek some deal to keep people from losing their coverage.
“If the state can’t reach an agreement with the federal government, then the state should back off in the face of losing all its Medicaid funding,” he said.
PRAISE GOD for the Godly leaders in Indiana!
In the Love of Christ, Dewey Sharon and Family!
