Good Morning KKIM Family!
A false witness will not go unpunished,
And he who speaks lies shall perish. Proverbs 19:9

We will keep you posted. I will let you know how the surgery goes……..we have a week or so now left before the surgery.
Yesterday as I was making a program decsion Pastor Jose Luis came into the station to pray with me. Gilbert Larson was also there. We talked about when we were little kids growing up we used to put our arm’s around our each other shoulders and walk around as buddy’s. What ever happaned to that? The girls would walk around holding hands. And whatever happaned to whisteling?
In the October issue of Christianty Today Al Hsu writes about being surprised by disability. He and his wife gave birth to a baby boy, Elijah who has Down Syndrome.
“People with developmental disabilities often help all of us understand our own brokeness.” Joan Mahler
Amen to that!
Getting back to Al Hsu column, he reminds us that October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Recent articles in both the American Journal of Genetics and Prenantal Diagnosis report that more than 90 percent of pregnancies prenatally diagnosed as Down Syndrome are terminated. As prenatal testing becomes normative, expectant couples may be more likely to abort babies who are not excatley what they had hoped for. Jean Vanier, founder of L’Arche communities which bring abled and disabled people together under one roof, warns that in a few years there may be no more children with Down syndrome in France because they will have been aborted. In China, babies with disabilites are often abandoned. Extremist groups in the Middle East have even used people with mental disablilites as unwitting suicide bombers. The Church (That is you and me folks) must advocate on behalf of those most vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. Care for the disabled is a global justice issue. The 2000 U.S. Census found that 19.4 percent of the population is affected by physical or intellectual disabilty.
All of us are only temporarily abled. We are only a car accident or stroke away from disability.
This brings me to a letter from Darrell from Farmington a dear freind of KKIM……….Darrell has cystic fibrosis………he fights for the rights of the disabled………
I wanted to write this to share with your listeners.
A few of my concerns. I am very troubled about the possibility of Senator Obama becoming our next president. He is a man who does not believe in many of the things that have made our country one of the finest on Earth. However, for the purposes of this discussion I will discuss only one issue. Barack Obama believes that abortion on demand should be the law of the land. As a life long advocate of people with disabilities I am well aware that 90% of all abortions performed is this country are done becauce pre-natal testing has determind that the child would be born into the world with a disability. The statistic which I have just given can be varified on dozens of websites on the internet. One aditional thing that I would like to say is that Senator Obama voted several while in the Illinouse State Senate to denie medical care to babies fortunate enought to survive the abortion process. I also witnessed with my own eyes as did other people Senator Obama refusing to codeme the practice of Partical Birth Abortion. This happened during the Presidential Debate which took place on October 15, 2008. I would like to close be saying that our Founding Fathers said that “We are indowed by God with certain enaliable rights. Among these are LIFE, LIBERITY and The pursute of HAPPYNESS.”
If he would denie this most fundemental right to the most helpless among us, we should think very hard before we cast our vote not only about that but also about what else he would denie us.

Quote of the Day………..
Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint. – Mark Twain
Here is the Funny Bone from Lew:
The teacher says to her new class, “For our first lesson, each of you will stand up, tell us your name, what your father does, spell what your father does, and then explain it to us. All right, Billy. You go first.”
Billy stands up and says, “My name’s Billy. My father’s a lawyer, l-a-w-y-e-r, and he defends people in court.”
The teacher says, “Very good. All right, Benjamin.”
Benjamin stands up and says, “My name’s Benjamin. My father’s a pharmacist, f-a-m… f-a-r-n… f-n…”
The teacher says, “Benjamin, you go home tonight and learn how to spell pharmacist. All right, Angelo.”
Angelo stands up and says, “My name’s Angelo. My old man’s a bookie, b-o-o-k-i-e, and if he was here, he’d give you nine-to-five odds Benjamin ain’t spellin’ pharmacist by tomorrow.”
Happy Birthday to KKIM Friend Mindi Schnieder!!! and our friend Tony Oilva is 5????!!!! Happy Birthday to you both! Let me know when your birthday is! I took you off the hook Tony!!!
This is a note from Dr. Deb on her program Saturday at 8:05 am on KKIM………..
To Walking in The Way listeners,
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I wonder whose life today has not been touched by breast cancer. As women, this disease has either touched our own lives or the lives of family or friends. I personally know three women in my circle of friends who have received treatment for breast cancer and my mother died from the disease. This week’s show will be one to listen to. I have several wonderful guests. Dr. Donella Wilson, Scientific Director of Research Promotion and Communication for the national office of the American Cancer Society is in town for a meeting and she will join us on the show. She will talk about the latest in research and treatment for this disease. Joining her will be Kathleen McVickers, a two-time breast cancer survivor and community advocate who will talk about her experience with this disease. Enrico Jeantete will tell us about the activities and services through the local office of the American Cancer Society. As always, feel free to call in with questions and comments for these guests. I hope this show will bless all of you as women either in your own journey with breast cancer or as you support women you love who are in the midst of this disease. Encourage others that you know to listen in on Saturday, October 18 from 8:05-9:00 AM on KKIM-AM1000 in the Albuquerque area or FM94.7 in the Santa Fe/northern New Mexico area. The show is streamed live on www.mykkim.com.
May God bless you this week,
Dr. Deb

Now let’s get to Karen and Nik two AWESOME friends……….
Do we ever give up on faith? By Karen Rowe
Recently, God brought us to 2 new opportunities…we approached both by faith, but in different ways…
**One decision, we waited on God’s direction until we were certain it was God’s will…
**The other decision, we quickly jumped on and received it as a blessing!
God still blessed our faith…, but in different ways than we were pursuing. We never lost faith in God, but in this one opportunity, our faith became misplaced in our finances…
The problem that I am sharing is that our focus and priority level slightly and silently shifted:
…Away from complete trust in God to provide
…and toward a need for an opportunity to survive;
…We placed our faith in an opportunity!
God IS our foundation for all things, including faith.
God IS our hope in ALL things…Jesus gives us HOPE!
Hope may be in the opportunity as God provides…
…But, the opportunity is NOT our hope……GOD IS!!!
Our faith IS NOT meant to be placed in the opportunity
…Our faith needs to remain in God.
We thought that we had found the answer to save the world from debt…somehow this opportunity moved up as a priority in our life and became something more than just an opportunity…it became our hope…our dream…and we subconsciously placed our faith in it;
…AND IT FAILED US!
When that happened, my faith crumbled a little…WHY?
Because I placed my faith in an opportunity and when my faith in this program crumbled, so did my faith… enough to feel it!
My foundation of faith was shaken because I placed it in the wrong place!
Our foundation needs to be strong…Jesus teaches us like a rock that won’t shift or crack or crumble…
My faith IS strong because my faith is in God!
Where we place our faith needs to be reliable… IN GOD ALONE!
HE IS our rock that won’t crumble!
A blessing comes from God…not from an opportunity!
Where is your faith?
Is your faith completely IN God or is it partially invested in an opportunity?
…Do you have a sense of urgency in something; a need for something other than trust in God to survive?
Faith is a gift from God…what we do with our faith is a choice!
Is there something that you are hoping for to get a better life? Good…us too!
However, today I pose the question, where is your hope? Is your hope IN God or is your hope partially invested in a need for something, other than trusting God to survive well?
Work hard, yes, explore new opportunities and do those things that God expects us to do. God expects us to work hard!
BUT…Does your hope have doubt or a slight fear that God cannot or will not give better than you can do another way???
God won’t fail faith…when our faith remains strong IN HIM!
Faith and hope in God have an inner purpose that lifts us up above all odds!
Faith and hope in anything else is setting opportunity above God…
It is a fine line, but a slight sway to the right or the left can take us off of the path that God sets for us…
God rewards faith and HE loves us…Can we trust that? I do!
And God blesses us!
When we walk with Christ, God will bring good into our life through even those things that we consider a failure!
In this opportunity that I have written about today, all on paper seemed so good, we even felt God’s peace as we entered into it, but there was always a hint of something not right… we could not put our finger on it; didn’t slow down to explore it and refused to even admit it, because it seemed so good…However something in this program was not agreeing with the Spirit living on the inside of us…we had the hint from God…
Hindsight, I can tell you that we were putting our hope into a program…more than we were putting our hope in God…that was the problem…we were on fire for this program and it was consuming us in the chase!
When the program, our hope for a better future, failed us, all of the sudden I felt burdened and worried and allowed myself to have a troubled heart! For the 1st time in my life, I wondered how we were making it financially! Crazy! Because, God has always provided, even against all odds!
When faith crumbles…everything seems to fall apart!
BUT…Jesus says, “Do not LET your hearts be troubled…”
It is not the opportunity…it IS GOD that gives us blessings…
Sharing our faith should be as easy as telling another about the movie that we went to last week…Only difference is that sharing our faith has the ability in Christ to change lives…
Live in peace, joy and happiness; Trust in God and rest assured, God IS over all things…
And we are Blessed!!!
Love in Christ,
Karen Rowe
Now here is some goodies from Brother Nik………
Please take time to read this…someone is reaching out and needs a friend.
Blessings,
Friendship and the Abundant Life,
by Ron Rose
Preparation
After a glorious day, camera in hand, exploring the beauty of Colorado
Aspens in the fall, I sat at dinner witnessing color and warmth and
richness of a different kind. Playing just across the table from me was
a colorful comedy. The meal took backstage to the humorous adventures
and countless stories of old friends.
Not only did I glimpse a vision of friendship vividly played-out in
front of my eyes, I was an invited guest. I got to share, to be part of
the moment.
The stories were detailed and dramatic. That night God gave me a vision
far greater than Aspens in the fall. Nothing celebrates life more than
old friends sharing memories. The abundant life God intended us to
experience is impossible without friendship. It is our most prized
possession.
God’s masterpiece of creation isn’t found in glorious sunsets, or
mountaintop panoramas, or spectacular fall colors; it’s invested inside
the people who inhabit this planet. God put his HD in us long before
someone thought of 1080i, but you can’t find it by yourself, it takes
friendship to see it. In fact, living in HD (High Definition) is only
possible within friendship. As your book of life unfolds and the
chapters are written, you will discover that nothing is more valuable
than friends.
Tragically it seems friendship, true friendship, has been devalued and
discounted. Some have never experienced it. You can get your face on
the cover of “Time” or “U.S.News” or “Forbes,” millions may know your
name, but without real friends it’s an empty achievement. You may be
networked to thousands in “Facebook,” “My Space,” “Twitter,” and
“Plaxo,” yet still have zero best friends.
Best friends know you; they know your strengths and your weaknesses,
your secrets and your stories. They are invested in you and you are
invested in them. They encourage you and bring out the best in you, but
at times they get in your face and say what needs to be said. Their
words, even if they hurt, always matter; they become part of your story
and you become part of theirs.
Jesus said, “Here’s how to measure your love: the greatest love is
shown when people lay down their lives for their friends. You are my
friends if you obey me.” Want to be a best friend? Show your love;
invest your life in others. Jesus pointed us that way.
If you want your joy in life to overflow, then get your focus off
yourself. Choose a friend and invest your lives together in something
bigger than either of you: build something, take a trip, share secrets
and deal with tough issues, work on a project, stay up all night
talking and dreaming and laughing. Experience life together.
Inspiration
Eric was having one of those, “I don’t really want to do this” moments.
He wanted to stay home and “veg-out.” But, God pushed him forward
anyway.
For several weeks now the group had been gathering on Tuesday’s for
coffee and questions and Eric was growing a little disconnected and
bored, even though he was supposed to be the leader.
But this night changed everything.
Find a way this week to reclaim your friends.
She had been coming for weeks, but had remained silent and mysterious.
So her words held a double-whammy.
Her voice was soft and engaging, but stinging: “Christians talk so much
about the abundant life, but it seems all your decisions are based on
fear. It seems you become Christians because you are afraid of going to
hell. You live a ‘good’ life so that God won’t punish you or the church
won’t get mad at you. You don’t share your faults because you are
afraid of looking bad … fear, fear, fear. Fear of hell, fear of
punishment, fear of displeasing God or others — honestly, that doesn’t
sound like abundance to me.”
Ouch, what a zinger! The group was stunned. She put into words what
each of them was afraid to even think. No one had an answer. She had
taken a big risk to make a statement like that and no one knew how to
respond. They left with her words still hanging in the air.
Eric asked, “Can we sit and talk awhile longer?”
That night became a holy moment. God used a stinging question/statement
to launch a friendship that has reshaped faith for both of then and
left them blessed by a touch of abundance.
Motivation
Do you have a best friend or two? Does he or she know it?
Find a way this week to reclaim your friends. Share a lunch or dinner.
Write a note or an email reliving a moment in the past. Invite a
potential new friend to trust you enough to move past the surface stuff
and talk of serous things. Get involved in a ministry with new friends.
Reconnect with old friends and see what God does with it.
Prepare for a touch of the abundant life.
God Bless you all…….We Love you all!!!!
