Yesterday here at the CUP we talked about the Holy Spirit and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ……..read this hearty warming note from Sonja in Surprise, Arizona:
Dear Dewey, I heard this read on K-Love yesterday while driving home; when I got home I reread it. I think it fits well with what you wrote in the Cup today.
“Look to Me continually for help, comfort, and companionship. Because I am always by your side, the briefest glance can connect you with Me. When you look to Me for help, it flows freely from My Presence. This recognition of your need for Me, in small matters as well as in large ones, keeps you spiritually alive.
When you need comfort, I love to enfold you in My arms. I enable you not only to feel comforted but also to be a channel through whom I comfort others. Thus you are doubly blessed, because a living channel absorbs some of whatever flows through it.
My constant Companionship is the pièce de résistance: the summit of salvation blessings. No matter what losses you experience in your life, no one can take away this glorious gift.”
Psalm 34:4-6; Psalm 105:4; 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
In Jesus,
Sonja

Law of the Garbage Truck
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport…
We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.
My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.
So I asked, ‘Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!’
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Law of the Garbage Truck.’
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.
As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you.. Don’t take it personally.
Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.
Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,
so …. Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
Have a garbage-free day!
“Faith is not believing God can, it is knowing that God will.”
Thank you for sharing Darlene! God Bless you and yours forever and ever!
We bring to you Pastor Ray Franks and his lovely wife Becky to you for a prayer need. Pastor Ray is of Evangel Christian Center and Alpha Omega Broadcasting, KAZQ Ch 32 TV in Albuquerque, NM. Becky has been having breathing problems with abnormal oxygen levels. This has been an on and off situation for a lengthy amount of time that has really taken a toll on Becky. Ray is the kind of husband every women deserves, a devoted man of God who looks after his wife.
When I talked to Ray that we are praying for him and Becky he stated, “Pray for the Lords Will to be done.” We come together to pray for Becky, for healing, for strength, for peace and for Ray the same, all in the name of Jesus, Amen! Ray is one of my main mentor’s in life, a Dear, Dear friend who has helped me in my walk with Jesus Christ for many years and also has helped us launch FGGAM, we are so ever grateful for Ray and Becky. Ray and Becky have been servants of God for people in New Mexico for years. We love them very much!
I have come to love this bold man of God, Pastor Steve Hickey
of Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he is the Pastor of Church at The Gate and a South Dakota State Legislator. Let us pray the healing of Jesus over Pastor Steve, in Jesus name, Amen!
HEALTH UPDATE FROM PASTOR STEVE
On Monday, I get a lung biopsy and they will keep me overnight. I’d appreciate your prayers and I’m told this is a routine procedure. But, here’s what’s going on. Shortness of breath and a dry cough for a couple years, and a trip to the ER in Greece last June… I’ve been diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. It’s the same thing my mom, her sister and brother all died of a few years ago. I’ll get my head around it, rise up in faith and win. I’m confident I won’t live one day less than God planned for me. The devil is a putz. God is life.
Some of you remember the drill my mom went through and it’s the path they want me on. They slow it down with a steroid. They put me on a lung transplant list at Mayo and then they just monitor it with annual breathing tests and CT scans. And they say I have to quit smoking tasty cigars but I’m praying for confirmation on that– Kristen says she already has confirmation that is of the Lord. (I’m joking, for those who don’t know my sense of humor.)
My diffusion rate is 67% and my lung capacity is 71%, each down 10% from when I had some tests at the University of Texas in 2009. After my mom died, her lung transplant doc and an IPF specialist flew me and my cousin to Texas to get a battery of tests done because it is very rare to find a family with three immediate family members dying of this disease in a short period of time. They were hoping to find a genetic link and identify some triggers that set it off (poultry, smoke, mold, dust, etc). People with the genetic link are 60% more likely to get it. No triggers were found conclusive and that’s why it’s called idiopathic, or no known cause. We have prayed specific prayers to break this off our family generationally. And we will continue to seek the Lord for breakthrough.
So, I’d appreciate your prayers!
Pastor Steve
