Welcome
To Dewey’s Daily Cup
This week I am going to share with you the message that I gave Sunday December 20th, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Reserve, NM. This is part 1: This message is based on Luke 2: 8-20. I suspect that all of you are familiar with Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. In on of the comic strips, Lucy walks up to Charlie Brown just before Christmas and says, “Charlie Brown, since it IS Christmas, I suggest that we lay aside all our differences and be friends for this season. Charlie Brown says, “That’s a great idea, Lucy, but why does it just have to be this time of year?” The sad fact is that many people DO behave differently at Christmas than they do during the rest of the year.

Remembering Pastor Larry Moss
UPDATED: Listen Here: How Larry Moss Changed My Life It is with great sadness that I write this post on the passing of Pastor Larry Moss. Larry passed away in his sleep last night at the age of 74 at his home in LaCenter, Kentucky. I just got off the phone with his lovely wife Lou. Lou said “I feel like I have lost half of myself.” Larry had battled illnesses for the last few years. He was the Pastor for 36 years at Heights Cumberland in Albuquerque before moving back home 6 years ago to the LaCenter, Kentucky area. I told Lou that Larry made me a better man, he was my hero. I had talked to Larry about a month ago and he was in rehab from heart surgery he had in June of this year. Larry was one of the most Godly people I have ever known, his radio program on KKIM, which I managed for 8 years, ran for about 25 years, one of the most popular programs ever on KKIM. People were always wanting a copy of Larry’s shows, as he was such an excellent teacher. Pastor Harry Chapman of Westside Cumberland in Rio Rancho told me tonight “I never knew anyone who could usher us into the presence of Christ like Larry.” Pastor Harry first met Larry in 1980 when he and his wife Sally joined Heights Cumberland. Pastor Richard Mansfield of New Beginnings Church in Albuquerque said this about Larry, “He was a tremendous man of God, he was a Pastor to Pastors, a Pastor to Albuquerque.” In my 20 years in Albuquerque I have heard it said numerous times that Larry was the “Father” of so many pastors in New Mexico. He mentored so many! Lou said that services are pending and that there would be a service in Albuquerque at Heights Cumberland. I will update as I get information. Larry has left us all a tremendous Godly heritage, he taught us all well, he gave it all he had. He went to Kentucky to retire but God had different plans he still preached! I cannot say enough good things about this man! Larry Moss leaves an eternal heritage.
Christian Roots
I just had to share with you this morning my love for our Lord, My Sharon, My Children and Grandchildren, My love for Preaching, Teaching and Counseling. My love for my hometown, Windom, Minnesota. (Daughter Gretchen took this picture of me last night dressed in my new Windom Hoodie!)Windom is where my Christian foundation began. It will always be so very special to me! I can still remember all of my Sunday School Teachers, includingIrene Hartberg, Orville Fredrickson and Everett Stevens! ROOTS! Christian roots! One of the missions the Lord has given me is to share those Christian roots with the world through Preaching, Teaching, Counseling, News and Inspiration at FGGAM, Podcasts and more……..
Here are the Words the Lord has given me today for you…………
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2
And this from Adrian Rogers…….I fought fear in my life for years until I gave my entire life to the Lord………
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Did you know that fear can cause you to forget things? Now, I’m not talking about forgetting a phone number or someone’s name, though it may cause you to forget things like that. Instead, I’m referring to fear that causes you to forget the blessings, the anointing, the power of God—all these possessions you have because you are saved!
It happened to Timothy, who was mightily gifted and graced by God for the ministry that God had given him. Yet he forgot this in the midst of fear, and Paul had to remind him (see 2 Timothy 1:6). He had taken his eyes off of God and focused on fear so much that he couldn’t see anything else.
Let me tell you something friend: You are tremendously blessed! If you get your mind distracted by fear, then you will fail to see your blessings in Christ. Fear will blow out every light in your soul, take the blue out of your sky, and the joy out of your life.
ACTION POINT:
Friend, wake up and count your blessings. Rejoice, for you are in Christ!
