Dear KKIM Family,
Fall is here…….Cooler temps…….snow in the mountains in Northern New Mexico……….and DIXON APPLES!!!
From KKIM’s Frank Haley……….
PEÃ’A BLANCA — It’s time for the yearly pilgrimage to that off-the-beaten-path, northern New Mexico piece of Earth with claims of being a “rare” spot.
Correct, The Dixon’s Apples orchard opens its sales to the public today at 8 a.m. sharp, which is sure to mean long lines of not just apple lovers, but lovers of these apples in particular.
“It’s a bountiful crop this year,” said Becky Mullane, who owns the business with Jim, her husband. “Because of the size of the crop, our harvest time will last probably two to four weeks this year.”
Mullane said this is as large a crop as they’ve had at the 50-acre orchard since before the drought that started in 1996 and they started losing some old trees.
The orchard’s famed Champagne variety along with the Red Delicious will be available come today. The Sparkling Burgundy, another of the orchard’s signature apples, and the Red Rome should be available maybe late next week or the following week of Sept. 27th.
Because of this year’s big crop, buyers don’t have to be afraid of missing out if they don’t arrive immediately.
It was Fred Dixon, who passed away this summer, who created the enterprise.
“He would be so happy to see this kind of a crop,” said Mullane, Dixon’s granddaughter. “He left us with a good one.”
We’re to walk worthy of the Lord. Col. 1:10 urges us to “walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him.”
We’re to walk as Jesus walked. First John 2:6 says, “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
We’re to walk worthy of our vocation. Eph 4:1 tells us that we have been given a new vocation, a new assignment, as God’s people. We’re to walk, therefore, worthy of the calling by which we have been called.
WOW! Just about 4,000 folks at last nights Casting Crowns Concert! Got to see a lot of KKIM supporters! PRAISE GOD!
We have this prayer need………..
Dewey,
can you please include this in your daily cup and prayer list… thank you… there two sons wrestle with Matthew…
Thank you.
Joe Rowe
Hello everyone,
I do hope that I am finding everyone in good spirits and busy with their daily crazy schedules. I am writing today in hopes that people on my email list will in turn forward this email to individuals in their address books getting the word out for Pedro and Angelica Aranda.
Pedro Aranda and his family have been and part of and contributed to the South Valley Community for over 8 years. Whether it be with their two sons (Isaac and Adrian) or simply giving back to the community by volunteering on the football field or the wrestling room. It is with a heavy heart that I mention Angelicas battle with Cancer and the impact that the family faces as a result. The Aranda Family is working tirelessly to keep sprits high and emotions in tact as they help Angelica with her battle, however, in keeping their focus on Angelica, Financially the burden is to deep. That is where the community comes in.
Mrs. Sanchez has put in place a Car Wash benefiting the Aranda Family. The Car Wash is scheduled for Sunday, September 27th. It will begin at 12:00 p.m at Checkers Auto Parts on Bridge and 5 Points. In addition to the Car Wash, Water and Burritos will be sold as well.
Please do you best to attend this Fundraiser and help this family who has given so much back to this community. Whether you are a South Valley resident or not, you generosity will not go unnoticed.
Best Regards
Cynthia Gallegos
P.S. Don’t forget to forward this e-mail to your friends and family.
Let us also pray on this…….It broke my heart when I was on the air last night that Mayor Chavez announced his support for gay marriage……..
Appearing on KKIM’s New Mexico News and Views last night Gwyneth Doland Editor of the New Mexico Independent one of the hosts of the Mayor’s debates Wed night said all three candidates were asked if they support gay marriage and Mayor Martin Chavez said yes, Richard Romero said yes, only Richard Berry said no. According to Doland this is the first time the Mayor has stated that he is for gay marriage.
And the misinformation keeps coming out of the White House……..
President Obama is drawing more heat from lst week’s big speech to congress to promote his massive health care plan. The President said his nationalized health care plan would not sue our tax money to pay for abortions, but the president of the Indiana Right to Life committee says Obama is being “completely untruthful”. Mike Fichter says many people have looked at HR 3200, particularly with the so-called Capps amendment, have clearly said “federally-required abortion coverage and tax subsidies will be part of the plan. Right to Life officials are disturbed that the White House is trying to muddy the waters and confuse people when it’s clear from the language in the health care bill that our federal tax dollars will be used to cover abortion on demand for any reason. Contact your congressmen and tell them you opposed HR 3200.
Let us pray on these matters
God understands our prayers even when we can’t find the words to say them.
Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
Thanks for sharing that Pastor Leonard!
I have said for years that the Church does not talk enough of death………..here are a couple of readings for you…….
The Heart
“Tomorrow morning,” the surgeon began,
“I’ll open up your heart…”
“You’ll find Jesus there,” the boy interrupted.
The surgeon looked up, annoyed “I’ll cut your heart open,” he continued, to see how much damage has been done…”
“But when you open up my heart, you’ll find Jesus in there,” said the boy.
The surgeon looked to the parents, who
Sat quietly. “When I see how much damage has been done, I’ll sew your heart and chest back up, and I’ll plan what to do next.”
“But you’ll find Jesus in my heart. The Bible says He lives there. The hymns all say He lives there. You’ll find Him in my heart.”
The surgeon had had enough. “I’ll tell you what I’ll find in your heart. I’ll find damaged muscle, low blood supply, and weakened vessels. And I’ll find out if I can make you well.”
“You’ll find Jesus there too. He lives there.”
The surgeon left.
The surgeon sat in his office, recording his notes from the surgery,”…damaged aorta, damaged pulmonary vein, widespread muscle degeneration.
No hope for transplant, no hope for cure. Therapy:
painkillers and bed rest. Prognosis: here he paused, “death within one year…”
He stopped the recorder, but there was more to be said. “Why?” he asked aloud.
“Why did You do this? You’ve put him here; You’ve put him in this pain; and You’ve cursed him to an early death. Why?”
The Lord answered and said, “The boy, my lamb, was not meant for your flock for long, for he is a part of My flock, and will forever be.
Here, in My flock, he will feel no pain, and will be comforted as you cannot imagine.
His parents will one day join him here,
and they will know peace, and
My flock will continue to grow…”
The surgeon’s tears were hot, but his anger was hotter. “You created that boy, and You created that heart. He’ll be dead in months. Why?”
The Lord answered, “The boy, My lamb, shall return to My flock, for He has done his duty: I did not put My lamb with your flock to lose him, but to retrieve another lost lamb.”
The surgeon wept… The surgeon sat beside the boy’s bed; the boy’s parents sat across from him. The boy awoke and whispered, “Did you cut open my heart?”
“Yes,” said the surgeon.
“What did you find?” asked the boy.
“I found Jesus there,” said the surgeon.

You Can Be Confident About the Future
by Rick Warren
“And I will live in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalms 23:1-6 NLT).
How long is forever going to last? Forever! Some day your body is going to die, but you aren’t! Your body is going to end, but that’s not going to be the end of you. You’re going to live forever in one of two places—heaven or hell. They’re both real places. You will spend eternity in heaven or hell. Your body is going to die, but you’re not going to die. We were made to last forever.
Why should Christians be the most confident people about the future?
“Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. . . . We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:6,8 NIV).
Death, for Christians, is a transfer, a promotion. It’s on to better things; no more problems. You’re not ready to live until you’re ready to die. You don’t know how to live until you’re ready to die. Only a fool would go all through life, totally unprepared for something that everybody knows is inevitable.
You’re going to die—someday. If you’ve accepted Christ, then you’re going to go to heaven. You’ll be released from pain, from sorrow, from suffering, from depression, from fear: “He’ll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone” (Revelation 21:4, MSG).
Let us pray…………
Dear Lord, We humbly pray to You to arouse within believers a sense of calling to pray for the Ministers of the Gospel in the spirit of Faith. In Jesus name, AMEN!
In the Love of Christ, Dewey Sharon and family
