SUNDAY CUP OF COFFEE with Dewey KKIM/KARS
Read | Matthew 7:7-8
As we’ve seen, there is a pattern to seeking God’s guidance. The first step—cleansing—is actually important throughout the entire process. In fact, all but one of the remaining steps have no particular order and can fit together in many ways.
The exception is surrender. The Lord cannot share His plans for our life until we are committed to following Him no matter what. He certainly knows whether we are seeking direction in order to obey or merely to consider what He suggests. Therefore, surrender even precedes our request for guidance. First John 5:14-15 says that
the Lord hears and grants our petitions when they line up with His will. It’s possible to ask for things that are not of God, but believers who yield themselves to Him will find their way to the right request and the best possible answer.
Most of the time, God guides believers to an answer through His Word, which is why I encourage meditation upon Scripture (Ps. 119:105). Our reading can take us to a chapter that deals with our very situation or reveals an applicable principle. Sometimes God speaks a crystal clear message to one person’s heart which nobody else would glean from that particular passage. The key is to believe that the Lord is going to guide you, and to live out that faith (Mk. 11:24).
The process of seeking guidance is often slow, so we must wait. Running ahead and manipulating circumstances can be a costly mistake. The omniscient Sovereign of the universe acts on behalf of those who wait for Him (Isa. 64:4). You who seek direction will receive; that’s a promise (Matt. 7:7-8).
I just love Charles Stanley…I gave him a BIG HUG last year at the National Religious Broadcaster Convention.
I encourage you to read all of Psalm 119……it did this morning and let the Words soak into my heart and soul. Our world is a crazy place that is moving so fast and we need to make sure to spend time in prayer and to read God’s Word and to listen. I say that God has sped time up! yes I do! I can’t find a Preacher yet that disagrees with me on that! So in the rush of our days…we must rise early and spend time with God…..seeking direction from Him.
How can we not spend time with God each morning?
Seeking guidance………..

Here is an AWESOME note from Pastor Paul Holt on National Day of Prayer………
With the National Day of Prayer coming up, Christians must head the call to lead our country to repentance before God with prayer and fasting. The healing of the land only comes when God’s people who are called by His name (we call ourselves Christians, don’t we?) turn from their ways, humble themselves and pray. I feel a heaviness this morning that we are ignoring the signs, the shaking of heaven and earth, and missing the very narrow window God has given us.
Jo and I continue to lift you and Sharon up as well as the ministry of KKIM,
Paul
