SUNDAY CUP with Dewey KKIM/KARS
Editor’s Note
Welcome to the second issue of The eBulletfor 2011. We had planned to have this issue ready in early April, but the severe storms in the Southeast had other plans. We lost power for a few days and had some storm damage to clean up at HQ in Nashville in early April. And then, about the time we were back at full speed, our webmaster lost power for about a week when the tornadoes ravaged Alabama and other states at the end of the month. We’re up and running again and hitting on all cylinders (no more puh-ding, puh-ding sounds). To help in the disaster relief effort, TAGSRWC as an organization has donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and to the Mobile Medical Disaster Relief Foundation (MMDR). Through our Weaver’s Dept. Store, we’ve also sent a few dozen Mayberry T-shirts to Alabama on an MMDR truck. (You might see a few more people than usual in Alabama wearing Barney Fife these days, though there were already bunches being worn there, so it might be hard to tell!)In the aftermath of other disasters, such as ongoing ones in Haiti and Japan, Weaver’s has put together grab-bags and earmarked Hal Smith scripts, etc., to help raise funds. With those grab-bag and script fundraisers already underway, we’re just making direct donations from Weaver’s sales to disaster relief this time around.
As far as we’ve heard at this point, TAGSRWC members and their families are all safe after the storm, but many suffered damage. As it turned out, members of several TAGSRWC chapters had arrived in Tuscaloosa from out of state for the annual Eagles’ Wings fundraiser shortly before the big tornado hit there. (High winds from the tornado damaged their hotel, but they were O.K. inside.) The severity of the devastation is almost impossible to comprehend. And our thoughts are with all those who have suffered losses during this spring’s natural disasters. |
When the Church is Visible CUP KKIM/KARS DDC
The Dead Church |
new Pastor in a small Oklahoma town spent the first four days making personal visits to each of the members, inviting them to come to his first services.
The following Sunday the church was all but empty. Accordingly, the Pastor placed a notice in the local newspapers, stating that, because the church was dead, it was everyone’s duty to give it a decent Christian burial. The funeral would be held the following Sunday afternoon, the notice said.
Morbidly curious, a large crowd turned out for the “funeral.” In front of the pulpit, they saw a closed coffin, smothered in flowers. After the Pastor delivered the eulogy, he opened the coffin and invited his congregation to come forward and pay their final respects to their dead church.
Filled with curiosity as to what would represent the corpse of a “dead church,” all the people eagerly lined up to look in the coffin. Each “mourner” peeped into the coffin then quickly turned away with a guilty, sheepish look.
In the coffin, tilted at the correct angle, was a large mirror
Good morning Dewey,
I have a huge favor to ask of you. I had the most incredible adventure this past weekend and met a chaplain of a truck stop ministry in Alabama. A man truly anointed of the Lord and I have included some information about him below. I think the two of you are a lot alike and I just really felt an urge from the Lord to share all this with you. I don’t know if you ever do interviews with ministries from out of state, but would like you to consider that. He does a radio program on his local station. I’ve included all his contact info below.
(this is about my trip)…..
Since you all know about my trip…..just thought I would share with you a little bit about my weekend. This is the post I placed on one of the message boards on the Christian Mingle site:
I found the most amazing treasures on my adventures this past weekend in one of the most unlikely places you might think of. It all started out with an urging from the Lord to travel and ended with immeasurable blessings and lots of new friends from all over the country. I had the privilege to meet one of the most humble God-fearing men I have ever met and got to witness first-hand his passion for the lost and hurting. What is any better than seeing grown men moved by Holy Spirit, or see newlyweds on their honeymoon blessed and prayed over, or Yahshua shared with “the good ole boys from Alabama”? To see a ministry vision for revival to break out, to witness Holy Spirit pouring His anointing on and in and through, to pray for the physical and emotional healings of hearts, to stand with the hurting believing and declaring forth family restorations, to watch as local believers come to encourage and under gird, to feel the presence of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob so thick you are awed……
I ask you Mingle Friends, what better treasures can any of us “collect” than these?? Have you guessed yet where I was this last weekend? Yep, I stopped by the Truck Stop Chapel and said hi to Billy. He truly is a man who has a passion to hear and follow Abba’s heart. A true southern gentleman and friend, and yes, Billy is just as funny and serious as his postings on this site……one of Abba’s heavenly treasures here on earth doing the work of his Father with every ounce of energy and joy he possesses. If you ever get out Alabama way, stop in, say hi and lend a hand…..it will be one of the most amazing blessings you will ever “collect”.
(this is a story the Lord “downloaded” through Billy….Billy is not a great speller but that is part of the charm of his stories)……

Coming to the Rescue
by Rick Warren |

Are you at a place in your life where you need to be rescued? Are you ready to call out for help? It doesn’t take a special phone or a bat-signal. All you have to do is ask and Jesus will rescue you. You can ask him to rescue you in any area of your life – a relationship, a financial situation, a health issue, anything. But you have to ask. In Psalm 91, God says, “When you call on me, I will answer; I will be with you in your trouble and I will rescue you” (v. 15 NLT). That’s not just talk, because God doesn’t lie. It would be contrary to his character because he is total truth. Notice that God says you have to do your part and then he’ll do his part. You call, he answers. That’s it. Just call on the name of the Lord. And the name of the Lord is Jesus. It’s very important to understand that in any rescue operation, the rescuer gets to determine means and method of the rescue. You don’t get to determine how you are saved. It’s not up to you; it’s up to your Savior. And Jesus says, “I am the way…. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NIV). Jesus doesn’t say he’s a good way, or a nice way, or even the best way. He says, “I’m it.” If there was a plan B, God wouldn’t have sent plan A to earth to die for you. So if you’re going to be saved and have all your sins forgiven, there’s only one way it will happen, and there’s only one person you can call on … Jesus. |
