Dear KKIM/KARS/SHINE family,
May the Peace of Jesus Christ be with you and yours……
After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”
John 20: 26-29
Do we just skim past those verses? Oh what other evidence does the world need?
Oh how wonderful it is to just read the word of God everyday……..
We are praying for all those in Los Alamos County where voluntary evacuations are underway from the fire that is raging on. Some People from Los Alamos and White Rock have already left, our dear friend Shona Neff who lives in White Rock was preparing to leave late last night or in this morning, she and the family were packing up.
There are reports of Power Lines and Phone lines down in the area. KKIM FM 94.7 has equipment above the Santa Fe Ski area that relay’s our signal to our main transmitter North of Espanola and it is now getting it’s power from a generator. That area is being effected by the Pacheco Canyon fire, which continues to burn.
We are also praying over all the fires in New Mexico…the Bosque fire near Belen.
The Wallow fire continues to burn in Arizona and just into New Mexico and the Track fire near Raton and around the Southern Colorado border is still not out.
New Mexico is now rated the driest state in the United States.
We have been constantly calling for prayer for rain, we pray that you will join us. It is a miracle that no deaths have occurred with all these fires! PRAISE GOD, please continue to pray for the safety of the firefighters and all those in the path of the fire.
Getting back to the opening scripture, I grew up hearing the term, “Oh he is a doubting Thomas!”
Do you lack belief in God’s Word?
Do you know those that do not believe in our Lord?
Monsenor Cesareo Gabarain (1936-1991) was one of the best known composer’s of Spanish Liturgical music. He was inspired by the feelings and actions of the humble people he met during his ministry.
He wrote the hymn, “You are the Seed”, it is based on the Great Commission, Matthew 28: 19-20
“Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
Here is the hymn…….
You are the seed that will grow a new sprout;
you’re a star that will shine in the night;
you are the yeast and small grain of salt,
a beacon to glow in the dark……..
Go, my friends, go to the world,
proclaiming love to all,
messengers of my forgiving peace,
eternal love.
Be, my friends, a loyal witness,
from the dead I arose;
“Lo, I’ll be with you forever,
till the end of the world.”
The stanza’s contribute to the message of the refrain drawing upon several images that project growth and hope:
Stanza one includes seed, star, yeast, salt, beacon, dawn, and wheat.
Stanza two cites Flame, and Shepherds to lead the whole world….through pastures of peace.
In Stanza three, yesterdays yeast is beginning to rise, a new loaf of bread it will yield.
Seed: “And he answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man.” Matt 13:37
Salt: “Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men.” Matt 5:13
Has America lost it’s salt?
Light: “Ye are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hid.” Matt. 5:14
We, as the Body of Christ must shine our LIGHT more than ever!
By the way Cesareo Gabarain was known for his work with the youth. Following a tour of 22 cities in 1990 to conduct workshops in the United States, he passed away of cancer at age 55.
This story was taken from the United Methodist Reporter and the hymn is UM hymnal, No. 583.
We must be Salt and Light to the World carrying out the Great Commission and occupy until the Lord returns.
As I drove last night to pick up daughter Gretchen at the airport I could see the large plume of smoke to the North from the fire near Los Alamos and to the South the sky was dark from the smoke of the Bosque fire near Belen, a very errie feeling, my spirit was disturbed, by these fires and the power of fire, but we have the POWER of our Lord, but are we turning toward HIM? or away from HIM?
I was praying for the end of the fires, for the safety of the firefighters, for those in the path of the fire……..forgiveness of our sins……..praying for rain and wondering why the leaders of this State of New Mexico have not called for prayer. Power in prayer! I was sadden that there has been no call from our leaders, have they forgotten our Lord? I have not hear anything about prayer……and our Lord…..only on the resources of man to fight these fires.
It just saddens me, not one word for our Lord……….not one call out…….
Have we lost our Salt? have we lost the Light in this state? It seems the State of New Mexico is just relying on the resources of man and airplanes to fight these fires.
Too me, It is a huge statement that neither the Gov. or any other state official has called for prayer……..
I also pray that today is the day, that the time is now that the Gov. and leaders of this state turn toward our LORD for everything, for everything!!!
Man does not have the answers, only our Lord.
Read in the book of Joel today my friends..
Joel 1: 14
Consecrate a fast,
Proclaim a solemn assembly;
Gather the elders
And all the inhabitants of the land
To the house of the Lord
your God
And cry out to the Lord
Oh Lord, have mercy on us………..
Let us be in prayer…………
