Hi Dewey. I’d like to request prayer again from the Cup prayer warriors. My sister Charlene will be undergoing surgery on her eyes tomorrow to remove scar tissue and some blood vessels. The hope is that this will stop the hemorrhaging and restore full vision. She is diabetic and this is related to her condition. I got to visit with her for Thanksgiving and my wife and I anointed her with oil and prayed over her. She is a Believer and was grateful. Thank you to everyone for their prayers for her!

Got a Note from Leslie That her son RJ, we have told his story here on the CUP and on KKIM/KARS , he was in a very bad car wreck that killed his Dad and RJ went through numerous surgeries and was near death’s door but the LORD saved him and now Leslie got word from Former State Rep. Janice Arnold Jones that she has gotten help for RJ that his med’s will be taken care of for free! PRAISE GOD! Let us give thanks! Also thank’s to Janice Arnold Jones for helping. I have to share with you there has been never a time when I have called Janice that she has not helped! She is the type of person we need in office serving people! This has been a long journey for RJ and the whole family, it has put much stress on the family in many ways. Please keep them in your prayers.

In like manner, financially, what does it profit a man to appear to own many things, yet, in reality, have nothing of value that actually belongs to him? We are not to lay up a lifetime of debt, owing everyman, and owning nothing. We are to be a borrower from no man, but instead create an inheritance, through actual purchasing, saving, and investing, to leave to our children (future generations).
My father did not have the appearance (bling, flash, facade) of riches, but he had the legacy (actual ownership) of wealth. He drove a dependable, well maintained, functional vehicle (in our case with a family of six mostly station wagons). He purchased 250 rural acres in Tennessee to retire on (after a lifetime career in the military), enjoy community close by and divide among his children in death. He lived a godly, family life that built into his children values and morals, a caring love for one another, family, friends, and strangers, and established a proper work ethic for us to prosper in. He was a successful, devoted caring husband and provider for over 50 years of marriage.
My father was a wealthy man, because his desire was in the things he needed and his delight was in the Lord. A rich man is unwilling to part with anything, but a wealthy man attributes everything to God and gives out of the abundance he has received from the Lord. My challenge to you today is to search the Scriptures and develop a heart to become wealthy, with which you will flourish even in times of famine. Learn to be content in all things because you have established yourself in the stewardship principles found in the Word.

Now I have to say…we have Dr. Joe here with another solid message about self-responsibility!

I give patients instructions for their own good… and they ignore me.
Patients would come in and sheepishly admit that they hadn’t done anything I’d advised them to do. And then, they would ask me why they still had pain. It was like they had no clue that their actions or lack thereof, had real consequences.
I used to get upset, when I was much younger, because I really wanted them to get better. And I knew that if they didn’t do what they were told, they simply would continue to suffer.
Then, one day, it occurred to me, “If they didn’t care, why should I be upset?”
So from that time on, I was very mellow. “OK,” I’d say, mildly. “No problem.” Then, with a gentle smile, I would explain that they had paid me well to give them advice. And once I gave that, it was totally up to them.
If they didn’t do what I advised, no sweat from me. They were welcome to ignore my advice and come back, as many times as they wanted. I would always smile broadly and say, “Ya know, MY body doesn’t hurt.” That usually got the idea across.
Most folks won’t take the action they need to, even when it’s in their own best interest to do so; even though it’s obvious to everyone else what they should do. Nowhere is this more obvious than when you’re told how to melt fat off your body, in the easiest and fastest way possible and they won’t take advantage of the opportunity. Some folks STILL won’t do what’s in their own best interest. How ‘bout you?

Roy tickled me with this message! GREAT MEMORIES!!!

Hi Dewey,

While enjoying the CUP this morning I found a pleasant surprise. Some one besides myself remembers Roy Rogers. I was a member of the Club waaaaaaaaay back in the 40s. Went to the Sat morning movies for 9 cents. I even got to meet Roy, Dale, Gabby Hayes, and The Sons Of The Pioneers. This was in Las Vegas when they filmed the movie “Heldorado”. I was 5 years old, that’s a memory that will be with me till I die. Too bad the youth of today doesn’t have a man like him to look up to.

I’m working on a second Gospel CD and will send it to you when finished.

Many of you know my love for Cowboy Clarence! He lives for the most part in a wheelchair, but he does not let that stop him from sharing the love of Jesus Christ! He sent me and Sharon a lovely Thanksgiving Card that he made himself. We certainly can all learn from the Cowboy!

Smith Wigglesworth writes…….

These are days when we need to have our faith strengthened.When we need to know God. God has designed that the just shall live by faith. Any man can be changed by faith, no matter how he may be fettered. I know that God’s Word is sufficient. One Word from HIM can change a nation!

And let us pray that God change our nation! AMEN!

Wigglesworth writes more…..”What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that you receive them, and ya shall have them.” desire toward God, and you will have the desires from God: and He will meet you on the line of those desires when you reach out in simple faith.

The more I study my Bible and read the works of such Godly men as Smith Wigglesworth I am finding it is in a lot of cases our lack of belief can hinder our prayers, among other things.

I would encourage you all to study the life and writings of Wigglesworth. What an amazing life he lived in our LORD. He prayed over people that had been pronounced dead and they were brought back to life. I don’t even know anymore if most of the Body of Christ believes in healing and the miracles of God. God is still in the miracle making business, God has not changed, but the Church certainly has.

Wigglesworth in his Ministry stressed the importance of reading the Bible. Eugene Peterson who wrote the Message Bible after being asked to, said when he became a Pastor people were not interested in the Bible. Peterson had spent part of his life as a Teacher and taught Biblical languages of Hebrew and Greek in a Theological seminary. When the Lord called him to Pastor a Church, same one for 30 years, he was sadden in the lack of interest in the Bible. Thus became the Message Bible.

My point here is that we must read our Bibles……George Martin writes………

God’s Word is not an empty or powerless word: it is a life-giving Word, a transforming Word.

The Word of God is spoken to us in a variety of ways. It is spoken through the Church, the Body of Christ. It is spoken to our hearts in prayer. And it is spoken through the Words of the Bible.

Reading the Bible as the Word of God can allow a power to flow into our lives, a power that can transform us. Listening to the Word of God spoken through the Words of Scripture can draw us deeper into a relationship with God himself. Scripture becomes a means for the power of God to take hold of us and reshapes us, brining us to fuller life.

Scripture speaks of the power of God’s Word. “Is not my Word like fire, says the Lord, like a hammer shattering rocks?” (Jer. 23:29 nab) “For the Word of God is living and active sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Heb. 4:12 rsv). This same powerful word of God is addressed to us to bring us life. It is :the saving power of God for everyone who has faith” (Rom. 1:16 neb); it has “Power to build you up and to give you your inheritance among all the sanctified” (Acts 20:32jb).

Martin says that we have 1440 minutes to live each day of our lives. If we spend just 15 minutes a day prayerfully listening to the Word of God speak to us though the Words of the Bible, it will make a difference in the other 1425 minutes. AMEN!!!

If we spend a few minutes alone with God’s Word each day, everyday, day after day, in course of our years they will play a significant role in our transformation in Jesus Christ!!!! AMEN AMEN!!!!!!!!!!

I believe in so much what Max Lucado writes……

Don’t make a decision, whether large or small, without sitting before God with open Bible, open heart, open ears, imitating the prayer of Samuel: “Your servant is listening” (I Sam 3:10 nlt)

You have a Bible read it.

You have a family of faith, consult it. Mentors!

I have learned not to do anything, simple things turn here or there…without praying to God.

One more thing I wanted to share with you this day is that this Month, Nov. 5 was the 100th Birthday of Roy Rogers! What a Godly couple him and Dale Evans were! AMEN!

Some of you will not even remember Roy Rogers and Dale Evans…..I know as the older I get this old fuddy duddy must realize what I know and who I knew, a lot don’t.

In the peak of his TV show that ran from 1951 to 1957 Rogers would get 400,000 pieces of mail a month!

PORK CHOPS? In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth. The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother’s cubs, perhaps she would improve. After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only orphans’ that could be found quickly, were a litter of weanling pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger… Would they become cubs or pork chops? Take a look you won’t believe your eyes Now, please tell me one more time … Why can’t the rest of the world get along? Thanks Babe! Dr. Joe has today’s medical bag……. You’re far more likely to die from heart disease, cancer, stroke, high blood pressure, pulmonary disease, or diabetes. Know what they all have in common? If you said obesity, go to the head of the class. In fact, it’s a distinct medical liability, in a number of ways, and a quick short cut to the morgue. It’s been shown that the “apple” shape in men is associated with heart attacks. That pot belly is actually a collection of visceral fat around the abdominal organs. And it’s been associated with deranged blood lipids (like triglycerides and cholesterol) that cause arterial blockages and insulin resistance that eventually leads to diabetes and all its deadly complications. Merry Christmas! I was greeting everyone with Merry Christmas this weekend and when I was walking Buffy and Reno in the Park and would shout out, Merry Christmas and PRAISE GOD! Now that is what I call occupying!!!!!!! Let us shout out Thanks and Praises to our LORD! Don’t be bashful! I love walking and running in the Park and shouting out to my LORD!

Had a late lunch with Lars as he returned to Chicago for school yesterday, what a wonderful visit we had! Gretchen and Brian came over Thanksgiving Day but Steph, Pat, Greg, Natasha, and Mike all had to stay in Denver to work.

I had good talks with brother’s Dave and Darly and Sister Deb. Please pray for Deb’s Mother-in-law Mary as she is having serious health problems.

I had a talk with someone I had not forgiven from 20 years ago! yes, I too carry “things” inside me! The Lord has had this on my heart for 20 years, since my Dad died. I finally have been able to forgive!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!! It was quite a release to do so……..It was a great hurt that I was finally able to let go of.

I had wonderful talks with my Uncle Wayne Caraway who is 88 years old and lives on Grandpa’s Farm outside of Windom, Minn. and also my 84 year old friend Ted Peters from Windom who I used to work with at the School in Windom. I also was able to have a wonderful, God Filled conversation with my 91 year Uncle Bob Caraway who lives in Upland, California. WWII Vet in the Navy who was on a secret mission on a sub for nearly 2 years, and Grandpa and Grandma never knew where he was or if he was okay during that time! I have to tell you that these three men, Wayne, Ted, and Bob are Christian men. I have had the privilege of being around wonderful Christian men and women all my life, especially when I was growing up in Windom, it has helped lead me to where I am at today!

I just received the Godly honor of being asked to Marry Jannetta LaMort and her husband to be, Jim. PRAISE GOD for this marriage!!!! They will be married on New Years Eve! Please keep this in your prayers. PS Jannetta is our web master here at the CUP!!!!!!!!

We received news over the weekend that on Thanksgiving night, our Dear friend Leslie’s family car was fired on at their home. Their car took gun shots. Albuquerque Police are taking this very serious. Please keep Leslie and her family in your prayers. This is such a Godly family.

Our Dear friend, Angel Murchison’s daughter was driving her car and it flipped over, thankfully she is okay. PRAISE GOD!

Our Dear Friend Joe Kennedy from Taos, NM had a mini-stroke this weekend but is doing fine. Please continue to pray for Joe, there seems to be no permanent effects of the stroke.

Please pray for Marcie and Steven Cheney of Tucumcari, NM as they grieve the loss of Husband, father Scott. I talked to Marcie this past weekend and this is of course a tough time for Marci and little Scott, no bones about it. It’s just been a month now or so. Please keep them in your prayers.

God Heals

We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. Romans 8:28
Prayer isn’t what heals us. God heals, not prayer. A matter of semantics? No. If you think the power is in the prayer and not the One who hears the prayer, you fault the pray-er for unanswered prayer. If I had prayed more, better, differently. It’s a depressing cycle.
Don’t assume that the faithful will never suffer.
Remember that Peter was in a storm before he walked on water. Lazarus was in a grave before he came out of it. In Matthew 26:39, Jesus himself prayed to be delivered from earthly pain.
Please don’t interpret the presence of your disease as the absence of God’s love. I pray he heals you. And he will, ultimately.

Now here’s Pastor Bill Ruhl and our Financial news……..

The “Super Committee” proved itself to be a colossal failure and a further barometer of this nation’s leadership capabilities, which equals a dismal ZERO! Interesting that they were in so much agreement to disagree that their greatest success was arriving at that conclusion before the mandated November 23rd deadline. The deadline was for them to arrive at a resolution of national fiscal responsibility. Obviously, being unable to comply and arrive at some sort of compromise that would have included spending cuts, revenue increases, tax revisions, etc, they arrived at the conclusion to just adjourn early and head home, to the comfort of their homes for the holiday season, while the economic future of this nation teeters on the brink of certain disaster.
What should we (you and me) be doing NOW since Congress and the present administration can’t seem to come up with an economic strategy, other than the present course of senseless, out of control spending? Get your financial house in order! The key word for us individually and for the nation is BUDGET! Simply defined: A plan, in writing, to direct the day to day allocation of your resources to provide for your NEEDS and FUTURE well-being. Simply put: Get out of DEBT as quickly as possible and find hard asset investments/purchases to secure your resources for the future!
Here it is America: Develop a plan to spend what you have…not what you don’t have. One develops a pathway to wealth…the other the slippery slope to poverty.

The biggest concern I hear coming from dieters especially this time of the year is the issue of being “hungry” and a lack of satiety from the meals they eat.

The truth is, you can easily eat A LOT of food and leave the table full (every time) while still sticking to a reduced calorie regimen IF you learn to harness the power of something called “caloric density”.

The term “caloric density” simply refers to the amount of calories in a given amount or volume of food.

A food that packs a large amount of calories in a very small volume of food is considered to have a very high caloric density. Conversely, foods with a low caloric density yield a much smaller calorie total from the same amount of food, allowing you to eat “more” without actually consuming more calories.

Ice cream is a classic example of a food with a high caloric density. Anyone can easily eat 1,000 calories of ice cream in one quick sitting. On the other hand, even the largest appetites would have a hard time consuming 1,000 calories worth of spinach.

Obviously, if the goal is to leave the table full without consuming a massive amounts of calories, the key is to consume low-calorie, high volume foods.

It’s probably no shocker that fruits and vegetables have very low caloric densities, particularly green and leafy vegetables.

Other foods with low caloric densities include lean proteins, beans, and by nature, most foods high in fiber.

The key is to COMBINE LOTS of fruits, veggies, beans, and lean proteins for meals that leave you full, without the calorie bulge.

Apply that simple tip to at least 2 meals today and I guarantee you’ll shave hundreds of calories off your daily total while being completely content with the amount of food you’re eating…and LOSE life robbing fat weight!
