December 15, 2011. Someone apologized for being overly confident and too forthright in ministry. When the Holy Spirit is leading, there is never need for apology. He exalts Jesus and seeks to glorify Him. He does that quietly and seldom with fanfare. This is a season to come forth. Step into the light of My glory and claim your rightful place in My Kingdom. I have made you and prepared you for these last days. Claim your inheritance of reigning with Me now and later. All My promises to you are yes and amen. I am for you so who could be against you. Stretch out and stretch forth to embrace your royal possessions.
Galatians 5:16,18,25 (NASB) “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.” “But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.” “If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” |
Yesterday on the Radio version of Dewey’s Daily Cup and New Mexico News and Views we talked about FORGIVENESS. This is a HUGE subject any day of the year, but during the Christmas season it can be one that really get’s the emotional pot going crazy. Not forgiving others or not forgiving ourselves. Whether it is an Abortion, Divorce, and Affair, Drug use, Alcohol, bankruptcy, Pornography, Lies, Sexual abuse,Domestic Violence, Problems in the Church, problems with the Pastor…….FORGIVENESS for many is tough……How do you feel about Forgiving yourself and others?
Matthew 6:14…..
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
1 John 1:9 ESV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
What do we not understand about God’s Word on this?
Kathy Robbins who I met in Asheville, NC at the Revival that I took part in with Dr. Kyle Martin, was my guest on the CUP yesterday. Kathy is a Christian leader in Asheville. She has been through much in her life. She shared a huge part of her journey yesterday…I was so touched with her testimony…WOW! She had an abortion and she also lost her husband to suicide. If you would like an audio copy of this interview let me know. It is one of the best interviews I have ever had on Forgiveness, not because of me, but because Kathy just lays it all out their for God.
Here is the Fact sheet that Kathy supplied me for our interview…….She has had to forgive herself and others…..We can learn much from Kathy’s Testimony!
What are the current statistics concerning abortion in the USA? (43% of people less than 45 yrs old have had at least one abortion.)
(Each Sunday in USA almost 50% people attending church have had or been directly involved with an abortion with little or no healing.)
Why? Secret sin that none wants to address because of shame and being judged.
Number of abortions per day: Approximately 3,700
What occurred in your life 2 yrs ago that began the journey into your healing?
(My Mother died. I had been caregiving for 19 years with my parents. Saw the date on her tombstone, fell over it wailing and when I stood up I felt closure. I sat down in my car and Holy Spirit said “it is time to give your children their identities.”)
Would you share briefly about your husband? (My husband committed suicide sixteen months ago- I myself battled suicide for eight months until Holy Spirit said “the tormentors have been loosed against you.” Unforgiveness releases the tormentors. He then told me I held unforgiveness toward myself for 30 yrs. I had to go back 30 yrs to release my children before being able to release my husband so I could live.)
What was some of the impact of abortion? (Psychological-Emotional trauma: always pregnant in the mind. obesity from daily looking in the mirror and wondering what it would have been like to be pregnant at each stage. Rejection of womanhood- directly opposes God’s plan for a woman; the image of myself as a mother was damaged; withdraw from my families and didn’t mother at all-eventually had a hysterectomy; tried many ways to fill the emptiness; became a super aunt; feeling guilty, shame, sorrow, unworthy, self condemnation, loneliness, bitter. My healthy suffered greatly; sleep disturbances; All kinds of Behavior Changes; difficulty with all types of intimacy; I divided time into “before” and “after” the abortion: hopeless) The fruit of death comes into every area of your life.
A woman may say she knows God forgives her, but she cannot forgive herself. This says she still feels guilty. This means she does not accept God’s plan for dealing with sin, which is Jesus’ death dying in place of my sin. Many times we are forgiven yet continue to walk in condemnation. We regret our decision for having an abortion but struggle with feelings of unworthiness for having chosen abortion. We think we are branded and marred for life. Others may try to earn God’s forgiveness by working for it.
Grieving is a normal and healthy response to a major loss through death. After an abortion women may attempt to bury their grief, turn their emotions off, and run from God. They don’t feel worthy to grieve their loss. Women who have an abortion feel guilty because they DO know what part they played in their child’s death. There are several stages of grieving a woman must go through to find the healing she is crying for.Relief that it’s over, denial over a period of years, suddenly becoming angry, learning to forgive, depression and finally accepting their mistake and surrounding herself with God’s loving forgiveness. The final stage of grieving is acceptance.
I went through a Bible study with another woman and two facilitators in Forgiven and Set Free by Linda Cochrane. One of the areas I have studied greatly is the Character of God. Just Who is He really? Can I trust Him with my deepest hurts? Understanding who God is invites us to get close to Him. Knowing who God is encourages us to be like Him, to love Him, to respond to Him in obedience and to bring our needs to Him. A woman is a nurturer. It is easy to see why we have to look at the natural instinct God gave us in order to be healed. He is a Nurturer and only He can show us how to receive his healing touch.
God sent his Son to set us free from the bondage of our sin. Feeling unforgiven is very often caused by feelings of guilt. We are set free from this bondage by first of all acknowledging sin’s existence. When we recognize the sin as the source of our guilt, we then apply the truth of God’s word to our lives. If we do not believe and obey the truth of his Word regarding our sin, we will stay in emotional bondage, crippled by guilt and feelings of unworthiness. If we DO believe and obey, we can be set free from this emotional bondage and being to walk in the light of God’s forgiveness and love.
Forgiveness isn’t making allowances. Is not forgetting; it is not an open door for more wrongdoing; it is not resolution. Forgiveness is a choice, not an emotion; Forgiveness is a process; It is breaking the power of pain, anger and hatred. It is an act of grace. When we choose to forgive and receive forgiveness, God sends grace to do the healing. Forgiveness mirrors the character of God.
I encourage each woman who is listening who needs healing in this area to find another woman who can walk with her through this journey. I strongly do not encourage you to try and do it by yourself. Go to a local pregnancy center and seek counseling, pastoral or Christian counseling. It is so rich when you walk with another woman who is working out her salvation also. God wants us healed more than we want to pursue it. The freedom will be worth the confrontation of the ghosts from the past. The most powerful statement I can make is I am no longer a woman who had an abortion. I am a mother who lost a child.
If you would like to contact Kathy you can find her on Facebook….Kathy Robbins. If you would like a CD of the interview let me know. What a Ministry Kathy has.
Pastor Steve Smothermon was with me during NM News and Views then at 4:25 and we continued talking about FORGIVENESS.
Pastor Steve made it clear that unless we forgive others, our prayers will not be answered.
Proverbs 1:28 “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me.
Proverbs 28:9 He who turns away his ear from listening to the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.
James 4:1 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?
Pastor Leonard Navarre put me through a study of why our prayers are hindered. I have a whole list of scriptures that I can provide you if you contact me.
I leave you with this…….Rebelling against God………will hinder your prayers……….Rebelling against God’s Word, His 10 Commandments…..your prayers will be hindered or as Pastor Steve said, they will not be answered.
Scriptures on Rebelling against God……Duet. 1:45; I Sam. 14:37 28:6
Repent of any sin you have in your life.
I have many people coming to me for help…….they have problems…….One of the first things to do is look at our lives………is our Walk with Jesus Christ in line with HIS Word. Or are we outside of God’s Word?
What does God’s Word say about the life we are living today?
As Pastor Steve said last night, “Obey God and Forgive”………Steve said that is when we are in line with God, when we Obey HIM and we forgive others.
Yesterday for me was a very emotional day on the air because FORGIVENESS is so HUGE!
Study what I just shared with you, share it PLEASE! If we would forgive others and ourselves and Obey God , OH My! What a life for Christ we would live!
In my 35 years in Radio, it was one of the most POWERFUL days!!!!! My thanks to Kathy and Pastor Steve for impacting the Kingdom!
I encourage you to share this CUP with many……UNFORGIVESNESS PLUGS UP OUR DIRECT LINE TO GOD! I am also talking about forgiving yourself!
Ray has this AWESOME writing for us on Craving Jesus Christ in our lives…..fit’s right in with our subject today……
The life of Christ
The only life that has ever won the spiritual war and defeated satan on his own turf is the resurrected life of Christ. Satan got his backside handed to him at the cross and the resurrection of Christ took away his favorite tool, the fear of death.
Hebrews 2: 14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.
We fervently teach that when someone turns to Christ for salvation all of their sins past present and future are forgiven. And this is a precious truth we all trust in. But we should never stop our understanding of salvation there because the key to living a victorious life in the midst of relentless demonic attack is the life of Christ. The very resurrected life of Christ comes to indwell each one of us at salvation. It is by trusting in the life of Christ inside of us that we have more than enough power to live the life God desires for us
