Dear Dewey’s Daily Cup Family and Friends,

Good morning and God bless you in this day that He has made! Today is February 9, 2012!
I encourage you to look in the Bible for all the places we are called family…and all the places we are called friends…I don’t know how many places we will find, but for Today:

Family of God in Christ Jesus:

· “Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother (Mark 3:35).”
· “…those who have faith are children of Abraham (Galatians 3:7).”

Genuine Friendship is a deep relationship!

· “You are my friends if you do what I command (John 15:14).”
· “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you (John 15:16).”

A friend accepts you as you are. A friend likes to spend time with you
A friend must be a friend. When walking with Jesus, “I” need to pause with Him when He wants to spend extra time with people even though I might be busy.

I believe if we are honest with our self, we each have a friendship-craving heart, but we must first be a friend to have friends… The Lord is to be our friend, not just our master. I pray that spiritually you will sense the Lord’s presence as you think through these penetrating messages…

· A friend accepts you as you are.
· A friend likes to spend time with you.

Today the Lord is leading me in understanding of what it means to have a friend in Jesus & the difference Jesus makes in life! Below, I share from a spontaneous and real church moment between me and my son about how friends treat each other and how we respond when friend lets us down and even purposely hurts us with their words…I hope this will bless your heart with love from Jesus.

The Truth will Set You Free & Rescue you

· Seek Wisdom from Above …God teaches in James 3:13-18
· Evaluate your fruit of the Spirit…God reveals in Galatians 5:22-23
· Above all show LOVE …God’s expectations are described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Sometimes we need to stop and lift up a friend.

But we can’t count on just anyone to stop and lift us up … only a friend in Jesus … who is –Jesus coming to us through a friend …
Who has hurt you in the past? … & … Did you let them get into your mind …enough to change something about yourself … enough to even stop doing something [good
and not harmful] you liked or felt good about doing, but they just didn’t understand? Did you let their words stop you in your confidence in Who You Are and Who You Are Made to Be? Our confidence is in that God has not made a mistake in the way He has made you! Our Job is figuring out our PURPOSE in being a friend in Christ … and this is where our confidence arises … Our strength will rise when we wait upon the LORD!
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14
ONLY YOU have been given THE measure of faith to do what GOD has called ONLY YOU to do! Today, let’s look at putting a comma behind our purpose in Christ and Continue on in serving the LORD and encouraging one another daily!
The Lord has me up this morning with someone on my mind J and He lead me to two Scriptures (Matthew 5:13-14) to share!
13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Then, timely my 6 year old son came in as I was listening to the Lord and writing for God’s Glory alone … and we together had beautiful church this morning! … With a message for us all!
Let your light shine for Jesus through all things that come against us and remember who you are!
Why do people hurt us?
Think about this: People hurt us for 2 reasons … It boils down to one reason; or the other!
They either are jealous / envious … showing Hate toward us … Or … They love us!
Praise be to God for our knowledge to OVERCOME!
Remember in yesterday’s Cup … There is an announcement to make:
Our STRENGTH will RISE as we WAIT upon the Lord! & Greater is He who is in us than he that is in the world! ………….. Take this with you in your mind today……UNTIL this message EXPLODES in your HEART!
To share a bit …church between a mom and her son …to God be the GLORY:
A little girl calls my son “bacon head” on the bus. He does not like it AND it hurts his feelings! Mostly, he didn’t understand why! Thank God for giving us the GIFT for understanding! What beautiful church we had this morning just me, my 6 year old son and the power of God who joined us for understanding and direction!!! Powerful Church!
The simplicity of childhood relations is good to share, because it is the same matters as an adult, but many times easier to see through a child… We ALL face childhood matters …no matter what our age, but we also need Childhood Faith no matter what our age!
Timely, from Facebook: “When people hurt you over and over again…Think of them like a sand paper and you as the wood…They may scratch and hurt you a bit …BUT in the end…You end up polished and they end up useless …Achievegoals.com”

Please … follow along…just to pull in understanding for the scope of this Cup Today … and please know that I am a girl, so I am not bashing woman nor am I bashing men … I am being a friend in Jesus! This has been a GREAT FREEDOM TO ME & so I share from God’s Word, my heart and my 6 year old son’s experience:

I explained to my 6 year old son …little girls can manipulate to get into your head … and so it is with all women, we have the gift of manipulation. … But we, as women of God, must be very careful to use our gift to bring glory to God!
The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him (Genesis 2:18).” Suitable helper would be better-translated ‘helper matching him’, i.e. supplying what he lacks. She is his missing rib. “Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib (Genesis 2:22).” Notice that God created Adam, but made Eve…but both are in the likeness of God …(see Genesis 1:27).
And so it is with adults and all genders alike! God’s Judgment on mankind (man and woman) has been overcome by Christ! …We are rescued if we seek the Truth instead of denying the Truth that sets us FREE in Christ!) …Study on your own Genesis (3:16-17)…Understanding that a woman’s curse was to crave attention never to be fully satisfied ~ “and thy desire shall be to thy husband,” …httlog J

God has Rescued us from His Judgment … if we seek the TRUTH we shall be set FREE indeed!

“but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; 16 and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame. 17 For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong. 18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; (1Peter 3:15-18).”

That being said … let me move on, because hurt comes from all genders …

Thinking about that little girl who called my son “bacon head, she follows my son around saying mean things to him, such as “I don’t like you.” He tries to get away, but she continues to follow with mean comments that confuses him and hurts his feelings!
· There are 2 ways to get our-self into the head of another (HATE or LOVE); … and
· There are two reasons we would want to do that … 1) envy & selfish ambition 2) OR Love …
Thus, notice that by either:
· … saying mean things
· …or showing love;

o Regardless of the purpose:

· 1) To hurt/destroy …
· 2) Or …to build up, encourage with love …
{One is from envy and selfish ambition (Refer to James 3:13-18)
& … The other is just letting our light shine for Jesus … LOVE}!

Okay, think of this…

The little girl either was 1)jealous and really does not like my son; or 2)she likes my son. If …I don’t like someone, I stay away … just saying! “Lord, Give me the attitude that YOU want me to have with this person!” I find this Confession that I need Jesus to be a great help and benefit to me daily! And, HTTLOG< Jesus makes a difference in my behavior!
We only tend to want to bring harm to another when we are full of ENVY OR SELFISH AMBITION… [again, look into Scripture for your knowledge and
apply the Word to your life TO
experience the Truth; not only working in your life, but to set you free]! Period.
Jesus gives us a choice to put a comma behind our sin or trespass (our mistakes) …and move forward forgiven! …& Jesus gives us a choice to put a comma behind another’s sin or trespass (their mistakes) against us to simply respond in love …
Jesus is not condemning us…He is freeing us to be a genuine friend and live in peace in order that we may be a team (a church celebrating Christ)!
I am not saying that my son is perfect … maybe he has given this little girl a reason to be so spiteful against him? That is the beauty of God’s LOVE! Jesus loves us unconditionally and simply calls us each to change our heart to love! Sometimes, we just need to pray for ignorant people! Sorry to say it like that, but in my ignorance, sometimes I just don’t know any better …and sometimes I do … BUT I am not stupid, which means I can learn how to be a better friend in Jesus!
Ignorance simply means a lack of knowledge to know to do better, so we need to pray for our enemies!
Read and study James 3 … Especially the Two Types of Wisdom … None of us are immune to envy and selfish ambition, but only those who love God will seek God’s Wisdom!
This little girl in 1st grade follows my son around saying bad things to him…He “didn’t” understand, but Praise be to God, he has a mamma who does!
She is either jealous/envious and doesn’t like him; or she likes him … Either purpose, she wanted to get into my son’s head! And it Worked … she got inside my son’s head! He was thinking about her still in this morning!
Think about your own situation … When someone hurts you, takes advantage of you or pushes you out of the way to get your rightful seat/position in something…it is because it appears better … to them than what they have already! Our job is to shine our light (LOVE)…Apply 1 Corinthians 13 …Remain Patient, kind and not self-seeking …, because they just do not know any better!
We need to pray for Ignorant people, because until we learn, we are all ignorant … and I say this with love and a smile, but we is me plus you … and I am not wise in my own eyes! Jesus is our Wisdom from above! I am not condemning the little girl or my son; nor am I condemning you or me … We are simply learning how to love beautifully as the child of God, whom we are in Jesus!

I got real quiet …and just a little louder than a whisper … I whispered to my son

… Did you know … Let me tell you …I put down my coffee and got real close to him … and quietly told him … “YOU HAVE A POWERFUL LIGHT IN YOU!!!
And we talked about LOVE … Daniel said, so when someone takes my seat up front, I should just go and find another seat. Yes, my son, but do something else too… Quietly in your mind, pray for them who don’t know any better YET. Let your light shine …He said, I know, like I should be patient and kind and not self-seeking. I said right, because you know something greater! Daniel said “just like Jesus. They put nails in his hands and feet and he loved them anyway!” Jesus was patient and kind and not self-seeking!
So back to that little girl, she accomplished the manipulation and got into my son’s head, because he was still thinking about … “he was troubled in his heart and mind” about her calling him a “bacon head”. I looked at my son and smiled, well I don’t see any bacon on your head and you are not a “bacon head” You are wonderfully made and you are a child of God and I love you. I am proud of who you are!
The little girl most likely likes him …in some 1st grade way …but is confused in her emotions and her ability to get noticed is by getting in his head with her words to control/manipulate… She is too young to plan this…it is just the way God made us, but we need to use our gifts to bring praise and honor to God.
I demonstrated to my son that when he loves another like God loves him…God is so pleased with him and gives him a PURPLE! That is the highest reward for behavior you can get in 1st grade! Daniel asked me how he can tell the difference if she …liked him …or was jealous/envious of him.
Simple, I said, know who you are and when someone tells you they don’t like you, smile confidently and say “you have a right to feel that way … Come and see me when you change your mind” with a silly little “hip hop” kind of smile gesture to keep it FUN & in way that is inviting/nonthreatening and sincere!
So when it is hard to do the right thing when someone attacks us with words, remember your “Spinach” …(Read more about spinach in The Train Whistle)… God’s Word in relation to the ‘effects’ of Spinach to Popeye… Open your mind (the can of God’s Word) and just as Popeye pours the spinach down his throat … Consume … Pour God’s Word into your heart! God’s Word IS our strength to do the right thing…and accomplish all great things!
The right thing is to simply love like Jesus… show love like Jesus … & walk in active love like Jesus…just like Jesus did …especially when it is hard…because when it is hard, it is the darkest for another to see … So let your light shine when it is dark for someone in the family of God…
Just like Jesus did … We know something FAR greater than the one who intends on bringing harm to us … THEY NEED THE LIGHT … to show them the way … !

Discover the Secret to a Faster Metabolism
Eating carbohydrates makes you store belly fat. Eating protein puts on muscle. In a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association it was discovered that when you over eat on a low protein diet, you store bad fat around your organs including the liver, kidneys and pancreas. But if you eat a high protein diet, you add muscle and increase your resting metabolism and muscle mass. Since muscle burns seven times as many calories as fat, that’s a very good thing.
This has important implications for our thinking about calories.
Bottom line: Not all calories are the same. Some calories make you store fat, while others make you store muscle. It’s your choice…which do you want?
For the first time in human history more people are overweight (2.1 billion) than underweight; this has important implications. The world is getting fatter – over the next 30 years, the prevalence of obesity will double and mostly in countries like China and India because how do you get twice as many fat people in a country like America where 65% are already fat.
Quickly absorbed carbohydrates form the bulk of the American and increasingly the world’s diet which is from sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and white flour. These deadly substances are very efficiently and quickly turned into belly fat in the body…which leads to obesity and diabetes…which leads to a quality and quantity of life that is NOT what God had in Mind.
Another recent study found that the free fructose in high fructose corn syrup (not in fruit), led to dramatic increases in belly fat, inflammation, blood pressure, blood sugar and even pre-diabetes in adolescents.
Carbohydrates and protein trigger produce very different chemical messages in the body independent of calories. Carbs lay down the fat, while protein lays down muscle.
This study on protein adds to a growing body of research proving that higher protein diets (25%) does all sorts of obesity fighting things to your body and your brain:
It makes you feel fuller than an equivalent amount of calories from carbs.
It leads to more weight loss in “free-living” humans as compared the ones who were force fed extra calories.
It prevents gaining weight back after you have lost weight.
It speeds up metabolism and builds muscle so you burn more calories all day long and even while you sleep.
Reducing belly fat and building muscle is quite simple. And it’s not just about the calories you consume. It’s about where those calories come from.
Here are a few simple and easy to do tips to speed up your metabolism and get rid of belly fat:
Skip the sugar – in all of its forms. Especially liquid calories from any source (soda, juice, alcohol) all of which store belly fat. Be on a mission to get high fructose corn syrup out of your diet, it is especially good at laying down belly fat.
Ditch the flour – wheat flour, especially, is just like sugar. 2 slices of whole wheat bread raise your blood sugar more than 2 tablespoons of table sugar!
Start the day with protein not starch or sugar. Try whole omega-3 eggs, a protein shake, nut butters or even kippers (smoked herring – very high in omega 3’s!). Skip the bagels, muffins and doughnuts…don’t even think about ‘em or even look at ‘em!
Have protein with every meal – try nuts like almonds, walnuts or pecans, seeds like pumpkin, chia or hemp or have beans, chicken or fish.
We’ve been scammed by the food manufacturers and advertisers that all calories are the same. They are not. Maybe someday the practice of nutrition and medicine, and our government’s nutrition advice will catch up with the science. Maybe then we can make a difference in the malicious tidal wave of obesity, diabetes and chronic disease coming right at us. Not! Don’t even begin to count on medicine, the science of nutrition or the government to save you with a pill, lotion or a potion. Rather, as a believer and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and citizen of Heaven, treat your body as He created it to be used…as the undefiled Temple of the Holy Spirit. Honor the Lord each moment with your only vessel He gave you from the instant of your conception by taking care of it so that you can go and do with vitality as He so leads.

It is 2:30 in the morning and all is quiet, except my mind. I am thinking of something we all cannot stop. There are reminders all around us. We run our lives by it, darkness and light separate it, and still there is nothing to stop it. Have you guessed what it is? TIME is out of our control. Every second, minute, hour, day, month, and year always comes. It does not matter who you are, where you are, how rich or how poor one is you cannot stop time. What you do with it is another theme. In the scriptures, God always says TODAY, never tomorrow. So, what are you going to do this day? This is the day he has made for us. Only you can know what you are going to do with the TIME you have been given…

Jesus, You are God. In the past, present, and future, You are there. You alone have conquered death. Thank You for going to the Cross and taking upon Yourself the penalty for my sin. Because of Your sacrifice and victory of death, I am redeemed to live forever with You and see Your Glory! Thank You JESUS! AMEN!
The Lord woke me early again this morning. He said “Get up and follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” So I serve to not only bring you real hope, but to show evidence of the Living God through the power of the Holy Spirit!
Dearest friend, This message was in front of me all day as I have been praying in the spirit for you…even though many of us have never met, God knows you … and God knows I will pray, so God bless you and know how very much you are loved by God … This is the message:
Strength will rise … as we wait upon the Lord! … God IS our Everlasting God …
From Rev & Pastor Jesse L. Alston, a great man of God; and my spiritual mentor and partner in ministry…He has shared a revelation with me and now I share with you! A Revelation is a Holy Spirit given understanding of Scripture to comprehend a deeper meaning that we can apply to our life Today…
“This is the greatest announcement that the world has ever heard!” …And this is the announcement for the whole entire world: OUR STRENGTH WILL ARISE AS WE WAIT UPON THE LORD! …and GREATER IS HE WHO IS IN US THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD! These words proclaimed are words to stir in your soul! At First … to me ~These words (Scripture) intrigued me, & I had partially understood what I had heard before… but this Scripture did not fully absorb in my soul until the next day!

In a MOMENT of time…Perfect set by God ~ The Holy Spirit convicted my heart with such an explosion in my spirit that these words became the Truth to my entire being … with a power of excitement and Truth to be understood!!! This is the greatest announcement: “but those who hope (wait) in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:21)!
“To those who are suffering or going through sickness … We DO, as a child of God, have the greater ONE in us!” Pastor Alston proclaimed this revelation to me … “THIS IS THE GREAT ANNOUNCEMENT …AND IT IS FOR THE WHOLE WORLD!” “Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!” (1 John 4:4)
Later in the day, I heard this song … “Strength will rise … as we wait upon the Lord! … You are our Everlasting God …” the light of truth and understanding beamed on inside of me like an explosion … like a beacon in the dark! No longer just mear words …The Words came to life and exploded in my innermost being with understanding to be absorbing in … my mind and heart …my very soul!
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord! … God is the Everlasting God! Hallelujah to the Lamb of God!
Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s Word to you Today in this way that God’s Word becomes alive in your soul with a light of understanding and with power like an explosion to TRUTH to your life with God! Hallelujah means “Praise the LORD!” This word is made by putting together two Hebrew words: Hallelu (meaning “praise”) and Yah (for the name of God, “Yahweh,” or “the LORD”).

Praise the LORD before you start your day!

There is a Scripture that has really been speaking to me lately … and sometimes a certain language version will speak more loudly than others to me … I hope the Holy Spirit speaks to your heart as you read this with God:
“…the unfeigned faith that is in thee …wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee …
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord … , but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel…” The Second Epistle of Paul the Apostle to Timothy Chapter 1:5-10 Holy Bible National Version Study Edition.
I encourage you to reread “Footprints” by Victor Martinez found in yesterday’s Cup! It has been such a pleasure working with Victor in an unconventional way … friends united … and inspiration through the power of the Holy Spirit … Victor’s heart has inspired my heart for a Holy Spirit Revival! God’s idea, not ours, but through the power of the Holy Spirit …inspiration that comes to us from God! Hallelujah to the Lamb of God!
Why are churches not teaching with MORE passion … not only the message of our heavenly gift, the Holy Spirit, but also “with the power of God manifested among them…”? I believe the answer to this part begins with you and me and the whole body of believers.
The world has become desensitized to “holiness” and “spiritual” … and “are being led astray” … Maybe partially because sometimes, the things not understood are not impressed … maybe because of fear? Fear that man (even, the church goer) will not be pleased? BUT …what about pleasing God? …because the Holy Spirit is working Good through a believer’s life! But if we deny the truth … ?
Things not understood can be uncomfortable or “spooky” …However, the Holy Spirit is NOT “spooky”. …And, all things that are uncomfortable opens a door to fear! YET, God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power … and … I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
Appeal for Loyalty to the Gospel … HTTLOG >>>
6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:5-7)
Fear intends to stop Faith –with a purpose to bring harm and stir confusion by quieting the truth!
But … FAITH perseveres through “uncomfortable” and steps OVER and ON TOP OF fear with a Holy Spirit confidence of PEACE, understanding … and WISDOM from God!
Following the Holy Spirit, We have a choice to change our “period” into a comma [and continue & press on] …or change directions as the Holy Spirit enables us to put a period to sin [and stop]!
Replace your period with a comma and continue on with Peace following the WORD … (or change directions) for Good by following the WORD, because Motivation that is from God (God’s Will) with Perseverance will lead to success in all things!
Whatever are you hoping for that is your need in this moment, Stick with Jesus and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit! I have a testimony: A Lost Key in a Strawberry Patch! To keep this short and to the point for the Cup today, the only way I found that little lone key in acres of vines was through the power of the Holy Spirit with motivation and perseverance! I was just about to give up after over an hour looking in a seemingly hopeless situation, but praying the entire way with an achy back, when I changed my prayer to God, “I love you anyway and I know it will all be okay!” Hidden under, the very next tender vine that I lifted up…there it lay! A lone key on a brown leather key ring waiting to be found! Trust in God no matter what the situation looks like! Because only God knew where that key lay and only through the power of the Holy Spirit (through motivation and perseverance) did I find that key!
I jumped up and yelled out in the middle of that Strawberry Field, “Praise the Lord!” And I meant it, but I didn’t mean to yell it, but I did; and it was good and well received! Then, we shared some laughter AND Praise to God …as we departed with those who shared this experience with me … As we left, the attendant still humbly nodding his head in AWE … and with a real warning…looked at that “nature matching” key chain, smiled at me and tied a pink ribbon of tape on it for me that I will not be blind again or ever lose what I found again …
Sometimes we need to tie a pink ribbon on our mind and heart to remember WHO we represent … Jesus …and WHAT we are capable of …in the power of the Holy Spirit!
Perhaps we need to remember Who we are to God! … and how very much God loves us and tends to our every need…God is Faithful, but how faithful are we willing to be to God?

Timely in God’s Perfect Time …Now Ray Sturdivant

Jesus was a carpenter, let Him build your house.
2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ..
At salvation we brought nothing to Jesus but a sin scarred soul in desperate need of forgiveness and life. God cannot accept any sin payment on our behalf except what Christ accomplished at Calvary proven on resurrection day. That‘s why satan will tempt us to mix works into our foundation of faith alone in Christ alone, and then anything built on top of that weak foundation will always be vulnerable to collapse when he applies the pressure.

The Bible uses the earth or dirt as a symbol for man. Adam was made from dirt and we will turn back into dirt when we die. So adding our works or behavior to what Christ accomplished for us is like adding dirt to concrete and pouring it for a foundation. Mixing dirt with concrete creates a foundation that will crumble under the pressures of life that God promises satan will bring to bear on each one of our spiritual houses.
Matthew 7:24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.

Only when we build our spiritual house on Jesus the rock (solid concrete) do we have the ability to weather satan‘s relentless assault. Paul reiterates this metaphor that Jesus taught in the following passage.
1 Corinthians 3:11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

But it is not only our foundation that has to be built in Christ; our spiritual house has to be built from Christ brand materials. What gets blown away from our house in the storms are the materials of our own construction, which we trusted in that weren‘t built by Christ. The Holy Spirit is the instructor that teaches us how to replace the pieces of us torn up from the storm with materials built by Christ. The solid foundation, in Christ alone, sets the standard for everything built on top of it. Maybe it was no accident that Jesus was a carpenter when He walked this earth.
Colossians 2:6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him

Miracles DO Happen, By Ernie Belanger

I know that many of us who are true believers do not believe in coincidences because we know that God touches our lives every day with miracles that we may not see. It is His guidance that works events, which bring us lovingly closer to Him. Those subtle things that go virtually unnoticed. On the other hand there are those miracles that come along and smack us right between the eyes so there is no doubt God has His hand all over the situation. This story is one of those undeniable Devine interventions

A truly devoted, God loving lady, Mother of ten -five natural children, five adopted- foster mom to twenty three others over the years found herself confronted with an adulterous husband. He has done the most reprehensible things to her emotionally, turning family against her and worst. He is acting out as if he truly hates and despises her because he rationalizes that she forced him to have the affair, she made him do it. I think you get the picture.

While she was out working to support her family, he remained home for 12 of their 31 year marriage collecting disability. Though he isn’t disabled per se he is “technically” disabled because a disease he has occasionally makes it painful for him to drive and walk. But he works around the yard, helps friends move etc.

God blessed her over the years she built a financial services company using a large portion of the funds she made she used to support Christian charities, she’s made mission trips to Africa and loves nothing more than to do unexpected anonymous acts of charity for those who are in need. Attaching a message that simply tells the recipient that God loves them and reminding them of the salvation message. To say the lease her heart belongs to her Lord and Savior and God her creator.

About seven years ago to protect her family from the financial devastation that would occur if she became ill she took out a long term care policy. Two years ago she was diagnosed with a very rare degenerative tendon disease, one for which there is no cure. Already she has had over 15 surgeries including ones to fuse her wrist and put metal plates and screws in her hands as the bones were separating because the tendons could no longer hold them together.

The bottom line: it is not a question of IF she will use the policy but when.
Now you have the background here is the Miracle.

In late December she received notice that the policy canceled because of lack of premium payment. But neither she nor her three designated alternates received a notice that premiums were due and the policy was going to laps. It turns out, however when she called the company they would not reinstate the policy even though she received no notice it was going to laps or was canceled. The company had confirmed an address change she made- she was told several important things. First the address change was made on the Life Insurance side of the company not the Long Term Care (apparently the right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing). Secondly all notices were sent including the notice to her former business partner. But not to her at her new address.

With this news she discovered that her husband received a notice addressed to her daughter – he opened it read it and took no action after calling and promising his daughter that he would bring it to her and her former business partner who was the broker never notified her – in spite of a legal obligation to do so. Then it happened. Two weeks after being notified the policy canceled and as she was working with an attorney to prepare a law suit against her former husband and former partner FED EX delivered a letter to her home.

In the letter addressed to the State Department of Insurance and copied to her, the company agreed that due to the circumstances of the situation they would reinstate the policy in the annual premium was paid. God stepped in and made this happen. She doesn’t know who notified the state (no one in her office would have known who to notify and only one person knew of the situation)

But it gets better. Everyone at her office is Christian. One part time accountant – though Christian – did not believe that Miracles happened today that they were a thing of the past. She was only one who knew about the situation. My friend after confirming that this employee didn’t believe in miracles handed her the envelope. As she was reading the letter tears started streaming from her eyes as her mouth dropped open in amazement. When she finished reading the letter she looked up and told my friend, “I do believe in miracles now. “She then got up from a desk and gave my friend a huge hug and they cried and prayed together.
I know this is a long story but please believe that even when you don’t know it is happening God is working Miracles in your life. Most go unseen by you but they are there. They may not be the ones you want at the moment but He is right there with you every moment of your day and night.

Our God is an Awesome God.

Amen! Now Wednesday’s Medical Bag with Dr. Joe Fawcette

I get asked this question a lot, “Why do health advocates proclaim the benefits of sugar alcohols like xylitol as an effective, diabetes-friendly alternative health food?”
To answer the question, you first need to know a little bit about what sugar alcohols are.
Sugar alcohols are fairly natural. Most are found in various fruits and vegetables, and some are a by-product of normal metabolism. They are used as a sugar replacement for these key reasons:
They usually have about half the calories per gram of table sugar.
They visually look like sugar; white and granular.
They have anywhere from 50 to 100% the sweetness of table sugar.
They are not addictive like sugar.
They do not cause cancer, liver damage, or other chronic health problems.
They don’t cause blood sugar spikes or problems with blood glucose like table sugar does.
They are safe if used sparingly.
But, like most things, you have to take the good with the bad. And sugar alcohols are no different.
First, there’s the “cooling” sensation that can occur with sugar alcohols. Some people have compared it to the menthol-like effect cough drops can have. While this is more of a sensation than a flavor issue, some people feel it negatively affects the overall taste of the food or beverage being consumed.
Second, is the laxative effect that can occur with overconsumption of sugar alcohols. Because they are not adequately digested, sugar alcohols can cause some fairly unpleasant side effects, namely bloating, cramping, flatulence, and diarrhea.
Yet, given these drawbacks, a lot of folks swear by sugar alcohols and even go so far as to claim that they have health benefits beyond simply replacing sugar.
There are approximately 15 different sugar alcohols. The three most common are maltitol, erythritol, and xylitol. When reading labels, look for this suffix “tol”, as it denotes a sugar alcohol.
Maltitol is the least “natural” of the sugar alcohols, in that it is created by hydrogenising maltose, a sugar found in starch. It does produce a cooling effect and definitely causes digestive upset when over-consumed, as well as sometimes with a single serving. Read the labels and if a product has this in it, you’ll probably want to steer clear of it.
Erythritol occurs naturally in mushrooms, pears, melons, grapes, and fermented foods like wine, soy sauce, and some cheese. It is 60 to 80% as sweet as table sugar. It too causes that cooling sensation, but the one thing that sets it apart from other sugar alcohols is that it is fully absorbed in the small intestine, therefore it rarely causes the laxative or other digestive problems associated with sugar alcohols. Also, it does not spike blood glucose levels or insulin levels. Because of its fairly safe profile, erythritol is used commercially especially as one of the ingredients found in the stevia-based sweetener, Truvia.

Xylitol is the most recognizable sugar alcohol. It’s been around since 1891, and has been satisfying our sweet tooth since the 1960s. Like erythritol, it‘s found in many fruits and vegetables, including hardwood trees like birch, and is produced in the body as a part of everyday metabolism.
Xylitol leads the sugar alcohol pack when it comes to widespread use. It’s used in more than 35 countries and can be found in everything from gum and cough drops to toothpaste and mouthwash.
Like the rest of the sugar alcohols, there are some xylitol side effects, namely the laxative effect, as well as the less problematic cooling sensation. But what seems to make xylitol stand out is that there appears to be a few xylitol benefits as well.
Xylitol Research
You’d think that most of the research for it would center on the xylitol-diabetes connection, but it doesn’t. Much of the research is on dental health! Research is discovering that xylitol helps to prevent tooth decay as well as gum disease. Researchers also concluded that xylitol was effective in preventing middle ear infections, though they qualified it by saying that only the gum and syrup were effective, as compared to the lozenges. They did not state why the gum worked better than the lozenge, though both appeared to contain similar amounts of xylitol.
While xylitol does appear to have medical benefits, you have to consider any possible xylitol side effects like diarrhea and flatulence. Like other sugar alcohols, xylitol is relatively safe from a disease-causing standpoint. But, safe and well-tolerated are two different things.
Excessive consumption, which can vary from person to person, can cause excessive diarrhea, with the same negative consequences that long-term laxative use would cause; nutrient deficiency (due to poor absorption), electrolyte imbalance, even constipation, as your bowel slowly loses its ability to contract properly.
Please be aware that there is significant xylitol danger for your pets. Specifically, xylitol toxicity in dogs can be fatal. So make sure none of those “table scraps” have xylitol in them!
Here’s the bottom line: Sugar alcohols, namely maltitol, erythritol, and xylitol, appear to have a fairly safe profile with disruptive side effects. But, when it comes to dental health and middle ear infections (especially in children), a strong case can be made for the use of xylitol-based syrup and chewing gum.
But are these sugar alcohols a good option for people trying to manage their waistlines or even lose weight? Are they good options for people with diabetes?
Yes, IF you are willing to put up with and how often you plan to use them. Chronic use can result in chronic diarrhea, which carries with it a host of bad consequences.
So, I say no to sugar alcohols as a sugar replacement, with the possible exception of erythritol (Truvia) for occasional use (no more than once a week), as it does not appear to cause the same level of digestive distress.
Instead, do everything you can to wean yourself off of sugar and any sweet treats by trying stevia as a sweetener. Stevia (an herb) is available in granulated as well as liquid forms and can be found in just about every grocery and health food stores. Stevia has NO side effects like the sugar alcohols do.
Friend, table sugar is highly addictive. Research is showing that it’s right up there with nicotine and alcohol. If you are struggling with a “sweet tooth”, I encourage you to meditate on God’s Word, because there you will find your healing. “How sweet are Your words to my taste, [Sweeter] than honey to my mouth!” Psalms 119: 103 NKJV

I came across the quote on Facebook last week in a posting by my church’s radio station. Immediately after reading it I thought, this is the kind of drivel someone obviously NOT in pain would make. I was ready to make that snarky comment on Facebook but wasn’t able to do it at the time. Hours later I still was thinking about it and still angry. I didn’t know who Tim Hansel was but was sure the guy wasn’t in pain when making the statement. So I decided to google him and boy was I wrong!
And boy was I glad I didn’t make the snarky comment. I’ll let you google him for yourself but he was a man who suffered a terrible hiking accident and went on to live in horrible chronic pain for the rest of his life. He was a Christian and wrote about it. He passed away a few years ago. Anyway, I’m still chewing on that quote. Not because I don’t believe it…and also tend to fall on the “bitter” rather than “better” side of it…but because I’m not ready to resign myself to living with this pain. It’s more than I can write now but I’ve done a lot of studying on divine healing over the last year and I’m just not convinced God is not willing to heal me. I don’t know why it’s not happened yet and I want to be a vessel of His glory even in sickness, but I also think He would be more glorified by healing than my suffering. I am convinced that if Jesus Christ walked in to my home right now I would fall at His knees in desperation and He would instantly heal me. He would not ask me to suffer for Him, as He already did that on the cross. Anyway….too much for now but just wanted to let you know some of what I’m chewing on. I’m also meditating on Psalm 27, as there’s a lot there to cling to.

Dear Victor, I will stand in faith with you … your faith IS for healing and my faith is as well … Joined in ministry with Pastor Alston, we share as the Lord leads us to healing! Continue to say & confess these Scriptures until it becomes a reality in the spirit!

Standing on the Word of God, It is written:

1. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed(Isaiah 53:5).”
2. He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you (Matthew 17:20).”

· If we have faith as small as a mustard seed and can move a mountain …
· Then If we have doubt as small as a mustard seed then the doubt stops the process of what God wants to do for you!

We also believe, because of Who God Is and because God Can! We ask because God tells us to! And Jesus teaches us how…according to the Word of God!

And God has given you your measure of Faith in the way you will receive your healing …by His Stripes you are healed! Continue to confess the WORD Proclaimed to us by God until it becomes a reality in the spirit! The Word of God will heal us … by His stripes we are healed!

· Doubts will come to cancel out our faith, BUT…
· WITH Faith planted in the Word…httlog…We can rid our doubt with continually saying (I am Righteous in Jesus and by HIS stripes I am healed! See below Scripture and believe!
· Continually speak saying [Confessing I learned from Pastor Leonard Navarre with KKIM] …[“Confessing is Telling God” [that we believe] “what HE already knows”]… “By His stripes I am healed!”
· God wants us to come into spiritual contact with HIM…httlog …to open our eyes and really see the signs of the Spirit by His power.

Refer to 2 Kings 6:17 In the physical we see the enemy all around us, but we can pray to see in the spiritual … to see God’s glory manifest …just like Victor wrote in “Footprints”

1. What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness (Romans 4:3).”
2. 23 The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, 24 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification (Romans 4:23-25). …[Tune in to Hope in Today Thursday…I am amazed how God is using HIS Word]

Let us pray …
Father, together with Victor, we ask for healing according to your Word and our Faith in your Son Jesus who is the Christ and you are the Living God! By the blood of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in us; and According to Your Word, the prayer of a Righteous man is powerful and effective! We cleanse our hearts before You Lord Jesus and thank you God for making us Righteous in your Son …we answer our call to pray with our faith. By the power of the Holy Spirit and in the name of Jesus we command this mountain of pain to remove itself and depart from Victor’s body to be cast into the sea! We believe and stand on Your Promises oh God … And according to your faith, Victor, you are healed…To God be the glory, honor and praise! Thank YOU Lord Jesus for all You have DONE for us …Hallelujah to the Lamb of God …

A message we all need to hear … well … at least I do,

…because how too often do we quiver (if we are honest) when approaching someone about Christ? What are we afraid of? Rejection? Why fear rejection? –what do you have to lose? –and what do they have to gain? Our caution comes from the Holy Spirit! Our nudge comes from the Holy Spirit, so listen and don’t be afraid to just strike up a sincere conversation … Trust the Holy Spirit to lead!
By definition: Rejection occurs when an individual is deliberately excluded from a social relationship or interaction … That doesn’t sound so scary, does it? Why fear being excluded from a relationship that is not good for you?
If you lack words …Pray and ask God to anoint you (submitting to the Holy Spirit) to speak what only God knows needs to be said or to quiet you when no more needs said…
OR< Are we sometimes afraid that we will ‘scare’ someone away from Jesus?We don’t have that much control! God is the judge, the Holy Spirit does the work, all we do is pray and love each other… Hallelujah to the Lamb of God … Thank you Father, Son and Holy Spirit … that through the work of the Holy Spirit it is impossible to mess up God’s work, because it is the Holy Spirit who convicts our heart to believe! However, if we say or do nothing then we plant no seeds …and, Remember that no one is rejected by Christ ever, unless they reject HIM…

To be baptized in the Holy Spirit just ask for this gift from God the Father in the name of Jesus. (Luke 11:13) “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Jesus is the one who baptizes in the Holy Spirit. John the Baptist taught, (Mark 1:8) “I indeed baptized you with water, but He (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Word Truth Press has a good study on the Holy Spirit! “One of the most important ministries of the Holy Spirit is to convince the world of the truth about Jesus Christ. This ministry carries on even today. Whenever the word of God is proclaimed in the world, the Holy Spirit is there to work in the soul of a person. It is as if the Holy Spirit shouts inside a person: “It is true. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God!” The Holy Spirit is called the “Spirit of Truth” who will testify to people in the world about Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit will not contradict the Bible.

The world is saturated with “holy” information today. I bet I have more on my iPhone right now than the entire church had in the book of Acts. But the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ was not created to be a religious book club or discussion group. We are to be visible demonstrations of the Kingdom of the living God. This is to be in practice, not theory. 1 John 4:17b “… as He is, so are we in this world.”
In 2 Corinthians 6:16, God says, “I will dwell in them and walk among them.” If this is true, He should be leaving some big footprints. But where are they? This is something I’ve been contemplating and pursuing in my life for several years now. Recently, I read a short book by Andrew Murray called, “Divine Healing”. I would like to share with fellow CUP readers a few quotes from the book. Maybe they’ll shed some light on what some of these “footprints” are…above all, so we may seek and follow them:
“What is it that distinguishes the children of God? What is their glory? It is that God dwells in the midst of them and reveals Himself to them in power (Ex. 33:16; 34:9-10)…Is it permissible to pray in this way now, to ask the Lord, “Grant unto thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness while thou stretchest forth thy hand to heal”(R.V.)?…God’s servants need even in the present day, in order that the Word may be preached with all boldness, that the power of God should be evidently manifested among them…The apostles knew well that it was not the eloquence of their preaching which caused the truth to triumph, but they knew the necessity for the Holy Spirit to manifest His presence by miracles…They had been filled with the Holy Ghost on the Day of Pentecost, but they still needed the supernatural signs which His power works. The same promise is as much for us, for the command to preach the Gospel cannot be severed from the promise of divine healing with which it is accompanied…And the poor heathen! How he would awake if he saw by facts that which words had not enabled him to lay hold of, if he were forced to acknowledge that the Christian’s God is the living God who doeth wonders, the God of love who blesses!”

I know its been a long time. It’s been soo busy. I miss you and want to always thank you for being there for Scott an Marcie and for speaking at his service. Marcie always gets people asking: Who was that man and how do you know him? That was a beautiful service he did”! I agree.
I wanted to meet up with you, Marcie and I were talking about it this weekend.
A friend of Blaine and school mate is in the UNM Hospital as she attempted suicide and is uncertain as of yet how much brain damage she may have. If you can place her on your prayer list it would be nice. She is a great kid and just going through all the stressors which the teenagers now go through, it’s a lot tougher than when we were in school.
Her name is Neah and she is 14 yrs old.
Thank you for all you do and It would be nice to see you and maybe Marcie can meet Sharon.

We can trust God with the results!

Let’s keep Neah and all who are in need Today in our Holy Spirit prayers! God always answers prayer! Do you ever hold back on prayer, because you don’t know if your prayer will do any good? Listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and open your mouth to pray for others and for yourself and praise God in faith … not in doubt! Whatever God does, He knows it is good …We don’t have to always see the results to know that God IS working … BUT we do always have to pray and trust God for the Results! Prayer is the simplest form of communication known to man, yet the world is afraid to pray.

9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God (Philippians 1:9-11).

How is it that someone just simply decides one day to GIVE THEIR LIFE to Jesus trusting in who HE is? Simple, because of the conviction of the Holy Spirit inside your soul in that place that just knows HE IS THE ONE! Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God!
Jesus tasted death so we could taste life! (Hebrews 2:9 & 6:9) But what does this mean to you? And do you believe? Who do you say Jesus is to you? When Peter was asked that question by Jesus, Peter’s reply was, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God!” Jesus answered unto him, “Blessed are you Simon Peter, because this knowledge did not come from man, but revealed by my Father in Heaven!” (Matthew 16:17)
In Matthew 13:3-23, Jesus describes people who receive the truth of the gospel but are not truly saved … the falling away (Hebrews 6:6). The tasting of truth is not enough to keep them falling away from it … They must come all the way to Christ in complete repentance and faith; otherwise, they in effect re-crucify Christ and treat Him contemptuously. But a true Christian loves Jesus …

Worshiping and gathering in Service as a Team for Jesus

There is something special about Dewey’s Daily Cup … It is always fresh brewed especially for you! As with a good cup of hot coffee in the morning, we all like our coffee a little different … and some not at all: Some like it black, while others like theirs with cream and sugar; yet still there are some who like it flavored chocolate or cinnamon…just a little different to suit their tastes. However, no matter what your personality is (style of worship) it comes down to “whether you like coffee, or not” … it comes down to my heart and your heart, but “religion” falls below who God IS …
Worship in togetherness should not be separated by the condiments (personalities) … Worship in togetherness should be united in Jesus Christ praising God …alive in the Holy Spirit … period.
God wants us to love each other remembering WHO we are in Christ.
In church together, no matter what our personality is, it comes down to whether we “like” (LOVE) Jesus or not … Period. I love Jesus and that is not too bold for me to hear or to say, because it is not about me, but about our PURPOSE to serve –and we are a TEAM in Christ with a great and awesome cause…to learn, grow and share what the Holy Spirit puts on our hearts to share, so that we can be a PREPARED TEAM ready to serve well!
However, it is the Holy Spirit who does the work! … We either love PEOPLE –like Jesus …looking to God’s good purpose through the sacrifice of loving others with patience and kindness; Or we don’t…Love is not self-seeking! Jesus even had to tell Peter, “Satan get behind me!” …And Jesus loved Peter! IN FACT: Peter was the one who understood Who Jesus was directly from God…YET, Jesus knew that Peter was not immune to “being wise in his own eyes” …He had trouble trusting what He could not understand (YET) …
May we open our mind and hear from God … and unite for the cause of Christ … and “be visible demonstrations of the Kingdom of the living God … in practice, not theory … as He is, so are we in this world.”

I had more on my mind, but my heart says to stop. I pray that we may learn each day how to more effectively walk with the Power from God who lives in us … the gift He has given us…the Holy Spirit …and with Jesus Christ as our Lord …both individually and then spiritually enabled as the United Church with Jesus, who IS the head of the Church. The Lord perfectly timed this article to come across my reading. It’s a very interesting article in a medical journal I got Monday. I had to share it with you along with my personal experience. I believe the Lord wants someone to read this to whom He wants to set free from an addiction:
“After the Super Bowl, Doctor Offers Tips for Coping with Football Withdrawal Symptoms
Now that the Super Bowl is over, millions of fans will go through withdrawal symptoms from not being able to watch football.
Loyola University Health System psychiatrist Dr. Angelos Halaris describes the effects this has on the brain, and offers tips on how fans can cope. Halaris is a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and medical director of Adult Psychiatry at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
Halaris explains that when a person engages in a pleasurable activity, such as watching a football game, a neurotransmitter (brain chemical) called dopamine is released in a part of the brain called the nucleus accumbens.
When the pleasurable activity ends, the person is left with a feeling of deprivation. It’s similar to what a smoker feels when deprived of a cigarette – except there’s no quick fix like a cigarette for the football fan.
‘When the football season is over and there’s no other game on the schedule for months, you’re stuck, so you go through withdrawal,’ Halaris said.
‘For hardcore fans, the feeling can be similar to post-holiday blues’, Halaris said.
Halaris offers these tips for fans that suddenly have to face months without football:
– Don’t go cold turkey. Watch football on YouTube, or on recordings, in gradually diminishing amounts.
– Share your feelings of withdrawal and letdown with a friend or spouse.
– While it can be unpleasant, football withdrawal is not serious enough to require antidepressants or other medications. And do not self-medicate with drugs or alcohol.
– Most important, buck up. ‘You’re just going to have to basically tough it out until football starts up again,” Halaris said.’”
How very, very sad it is to be addicted to a sport or anything other than the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet, I know what Halaris is talking about. About 20 years or so ago I was a hardcore addict to America’s favorite pastime and no it isn’t baseball. America’s favorite pastime is football and professional football was my “juice”. Yep, I even taught Sunday School and was admired in the church as a leader. Nobody knew about my love-affair with football. For a “really big game” I couldn’t watch it with anybody because I’d be super intense. Even my precious family had to vacate the room to let “daddy play football”. And heaven help me or them if my beloved team lost. I’d be in the dumps for days! Thank God I never financially gambled on any game. But, I gambled away my mind, emotion and will… and my walk with the Lord. But I wasn’t alone. Untold thousands, maybe millions, of people today (in the church) are still like that. Football addicts. Soulfully lost until late August slowly rolls around to again feed their addiction of choice…and so their vicious cycle goes on and on.
I absolutely disagree with Halaris on his “treatment” approach. Instead, let’s call it the way the Lord God calls it in His Word, “sin”. It is a sin. Not football, but an out of kilter mindset toward the one I had, which totally misses the mark that He has put before us. Football was an idol of mine just like it is an idol to millions. It was because I chose it to be. It was my “god”.
What happened to me to bring about my repentance, the 180 degree turning away from this addiction? I can assure you that it was none of what Halaris suggested, which only treats the symptoms and not the cause. The root cause is sin. The sinful cause is a personal choice to put anything other than the Lord God of the Bible before Him…even something such as football when it rules the soul. Ask yourself, “What have I put ahead of the Lord? Sports? Health? Money? Church? Children? Looks? Position? Business? Job? A person? The government? Politics? Fill in the blank___________________ ?
The Holy Spirit convicted me of my sin a few days after my team had lost the Super Bowl way back when. The Lord lovingly and graciously showed me what it had done to me, what it was doing and what it could do to me and my family. I was deeply convicted…game over. My wife and children had prayed for me in their alone time. God heard and answered them. Through His Power I went cold turkey. I chose to stop the deep soulful ties to football and follow Him. He is the One I chose to follow and no longer the emotional ties to a…game.
God’s way is The Way to love, joy and peace; things no addict of anything could ever experience. I wanted those fruits of the Holy Spirit back because I’d sinfully misplaced them and didn’t even know it! My desire to watch football took a quick nose dive. From that point on, I would never look at the game the way I used to. In fact, several years later, we made the choice to never have cable or network television in our home again. If and when I do watch a full game, which is really rare nowadays, it’s from somewhere else.
Fast forward to 20 or so years to now. Sunday, my wife and I watched two super teams battle it out. We were watching it from our favorite restaurant in a booth. There were only a handful of patrons in a normally crowded place. The sound on the big screen monitor was muted. We could barely read the fast moving closed captioning from where we sat. I thought to myself how far I’d come since “then”.
Monday, I read about how the quarterback for the losing team had sat numb, not moving, totally depressed on the bench in front of his locker for over 20 or so minutes looking down at the floor with a towel over his head. He finally got his act together to fulfill his contractual obligation to meet the press. In front of the whole football world he was gracious in his words, but you could tell his mind was a thunderstorm of heavy emotions. Friend, I could be wrong, but it appears this man is on the low path because of a deep rooted addiction to the game. To put it into perspective, I saw another extremely competitive quarterback who’d just lost in a huge way in the playoffs to this same quarterback about three weeks ago. His biblical worldview perspective was right on. His was the highest path of a choice that it’s just a game, play it to the best of your ability that the Lord gives you, work harder, and move on knowing that it’s just a season in your life. He, as he always does, gave the Lord Jesus Christ all the glory. He is totally addicted to Jesus no matter what.
How about you? If your football is out of kilter, I hope what I had to say is a wakeup call for you to tell the Lord about it, then turn away from the addiction and turn to fully follow Him without looking back.

I know many of you are wondering what is happening to the two parental rights/notification bills that have
Been introduced in the New Mexico State Legislature in the beginning of the session.
The answer is NOTHING!
Both bills are sitting the first committees they were assigned to. In the House it is Consumer & Public Affairs and the bill is HB 51. They have not had a hearing, and if they do, and there are only 3 meeting dates left and the last one is on the last day, thus it is impossible for this bill to progress through the Judiciary Committee and then to the House floor.
SB 157 has been assigned to the Public Affairs Committee in the Senate. It too has not had a hearing and is not scheduled as I write this. It meets on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, so there are only 5 days, with the 16th the last day of the session. There is no time for it to go to judiciary and to the Senate Floor.
After this it would to go to the other chambers.
So the pro-abortion Democrats in leadership and in the committees have “killed” the bill with time.
This is Rep. Ben Lujan and Rep. Gail Chasey in the House and Sen. Michael Sanchez and Sen. Dede Feldman in the senate.
You may ask what can be done. The answer is REPLACE THOSE LEGISLATORS WHO ARE NOT WORKING FOR NEW MEXICO AND ARE TRYING TO KEEP THE GOVERNOR (WHO PUT THE BILLS ON THE CALL) FROM PASSING GOOD LEGISLATI9N.
This can only be done if you make a commitment to be involved in the 2012 General Election by backing good pro-life candidates. RTLNM’s PAC will be providing that information for the whole state in regards to state legislative candidates. National Right to Life PAC will share their endorsements of federal candidates with un an in turn we will share that information with you.
Each of us can and MUST do something to help these candidates.
