Yesterday was a day of sadness and happiness for me to see Lars leave to go back to Chicago. I am thankful for the growth in this young man and all the prayers you have said for him. He is growing so much! For God’s Glory Alone! One of the thrill’s for an old radio guy like myself to to launch a new radio station, and that is what happened to us at American General Media yesterday! After months and months of work, All News, All The Time AM860 went on the air! It offers our radio market here in the Albuquerque area a very unique format, all news, all the time. We have talk stations, but not an all news station. We have already received great response from folks! The AM band is very important and stations like KKIM and AM860 are providing a great service to the state of New Mexico. It is all in the content. Just like a Church,it’s in the content, just like in a Preacher, it’s in the content. It’s like our walk with Jesus, it’s in the content. I have preached for years about all the Nothing noise in the World, the airwaves are full of it! LOL LOL! At KKIM and AM860 we are into content, information to keep you informed. We soon, please pray, will have a web site up for AM860 so that you can listen on line. I am continually sadden by many people who are not informed of the issues that this Country and the Church face. God’s agenda is to advance His kingdom down the field of life, and to do so, He is looking for men who will rise to the occasion to be great, you must first allow yourself, release yourself, and give yourself permission to want it. You were made for greatness. It is okay to want it. In fact, it is more than okay—-it is a mandate.

Far too many men are satisfied with being on the practice squad. far too many men are satisfied with just being okay, with getting by, or living a mundane and ordinary life. Many, if not most, of the problems that we are facing today are because men are thinking too small. They are either not thinking about greatness at all, or they are thinking about it according to the world’s grid for greatness.

God stands in the locker room of our souls with a personal bid for greatness, so long as that greatness comes under HIS authority! And as long as it is expressed in an effort to reflect HIS glory. This is something that the world doesn’t necessarily say is valuable but something that eternity has deemed as priceless. Understanding the value of true greatness is the key to experiencing all you were destined to be.

Men rule by intimidation, fear tactics, and leverage. But Jesus said, “It is not that way among you.” The rulers of God’s kingdom are much different from the rulers of the world, as are their strategies. Jesus didn’t diminish a man’s need for greatness; He simply defined the way a man ought to get it, which is through service! True greatness is outward-focused and others-driven. It is not dominance, but rather dominion that benefits those around you. READ THAT AGAIN, SEND THIS PORTION OF THE CUP TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW, GIVE THIS TO YOUR PASTOR!!!!

WOW! Does Tony Evans bring it home or what! That last paragraph is the key to the failures of men, families, marriages, church’s, businesses, WOW WOW! pray on that. Do not quickly go on from here, spend time in prayer, confess your sins my brothers and sisters………

WOW WEE! AWESOME! Thank YOU LORD for awakening me at 3am to share this with all! Thank YOU for Pastor Eddie B and Pastor Leonard Navarre for their mentorship and for Leonard sending me Tony Evans way!!!

You will avoid much trouble in your life if you will submit to Godly mentors…..I am hearing from many each day that are drowning in trouble because they do not seek Godly mentor’s…..they complain but do nothing to get attached to Godly mentor’s…..they pretend to know God.

Why do people complain about “THINGS” and don’t seek a solid Pastor and Body of Christ?

I am hearing from many that they cannot find a solid Pastor who will take calls and make time for a visit.

Let us pray.

Are too many Pastor’s in a “comfort zone?”

I don’t know.

Probably fault on both sides.

I have to tell you that I could shut down the radio station for a day and have people come for help and prayer and the line would be so long………

In fact, if I could, I would set aside more days and invite people to come and meet and pray individually…….or I would just go and meet people where they are at!

Spring is busting out all over. It is my favorite time of the year. The new plants, trees, grass and animals. Spring is the promise – Spring is when a boy Mantis sees a girl Mantis and finally realizes what he’s been praying for. lol! Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection -not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime. (Martin Luther) The beauty of spring is Gods handwriting!!!

Amy is entering a new season with her cancer……….Amy is an inspiration to us all……..We first heard from Amy, I think 4 years ago, and have been praying for her since…..please read her letter here and let it be an inspiration to you and all those you know!

Dear Dewey and my brothers and sisters in Christ,

I know it has been awhile since you have heard from me! First I would like to remind all of my brothers and sisters to check their breasts, not only for lumps, but for any changes in size, texture, or feeling, and get anything you find that is different checked out. It can save your life, and we are called to seek life!

I wanted to share my news. As of the second week in April (the Friday after Easter) I will be off of chemo after two years being constantly on it. My scans have shown that the last chemo they did (a really strong cocktail of an infusion once every three weeks, daily pills, and then pills I would take 5 days a week) finally worked, but the side effects have been tough. Many of them are scaling down as my body adjusts…Anyways I want to let you know that this last tough chemo regimen has done the deed. God guided me to it, and it has wiped out any visible cancer in my body. I am truly rejoicing! I only have two weeks left of the five days a week pills, and have finished the infusions.

I do have a prayer request though. I am sorry for being so gripey. I am delighted and so thankful for the healing that is going on, but I am left with certain side effects that I am worried about, both now in the next two weeks, and in the future. Praise God that my heart and organs have stayed relatively healthy. I ask for prayers for organ health now and as I heal. One side effect that has really bothered me is a burning and numbness in my hands and feet. I fear permanent nerve damage. I ask for prayers for reduction of any pain that is not necessary for healing, and for complete restoration of nerve function. Also complete restoration of health, and the cancer to never come back!

A certain bit of scripture is speaking to me these days. He is making me fresh and new Isaiah 43:19 – See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. Indicative of Easter coming, but also of personal healing.

This has been such a long journey. I appreciate so very much the prayers that have been offered for me. I know that the prayers have helped me through so very much.

April 3, 2012. Your thoughts are slowly turning to returning. This is a good thing not a bad thing. It is good to think ahead and be prepared, but don’t overthink…by spend too much time thinking. The time spent in thinking needs to be in prayer rather than in reasoning. Believe that whatever pops up, I have wisdom to give you and all the problems will be worked through. Think of the problems as challenges which can be overcome not as obstacles which cannot be overcome. Pray for the one who is questioning you. They are questioning because they have been questioned. Act like men, whether male or female, be strong and sturdy. In the natural and the spiritual keep a keen ear and a watchful eye. Through dreams and/or visions be on the alert. Keep your senses in tune with Mine.

What You Eat at Breakfast Can Control Your Blood Sugar Throughout the Day
Eating foods at breakfast that have a low glycemic index may help prevent a spike in blood sugar throughout the morning and after the next meal of the day, researchers said at the Institute of Food Technologists’ Wellness 12 meeting.

These breakfast foods also can increase feelings of satiety and fullness and may make people less likely to overeat throughout the day, according to presentations Wednesday by Kantha Shelke, Ph.D., principal, Corvus Blue LLC, and Richard Mattes, M.P.H., R.D., distinguished professor of foods and nutrition at Purdue University.

The glycemic index ranks foods on the extent to which they raise blood sugar levels after eating. Foods with a high index are rapidly digested and result in high fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Foods with a low glycemic index produce gradual rises in blood sugar and insulin levels and are considered healthier, especially for people with diabetes.

Mattes’ research specifically focused on the advantages of having almonds, a low glycemic index food, with the morning meal. In his study, published last year in the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism, participants who ate a breakfast containing whole almonds experienced longer feelings of fullness and had lower blood glucose concentrations after breakfast and lunch, compared to those who did not have a low-glycemic breakfast.

When a low glycemic food is added to the diet, people spontaneously choose to eat less at other times throughout the day. Mattes added that while the calories need to be taken into consideration as part of a person’s overall diet, almonds can be incorporated in moderate amounts without an effect on body weight.

Both Mattes and Shelke stressed the importance of eating a healthy, low-glycemic breakfast in maintaining a healthy weight and blood sugar levels. A 2009 study found that about 30% of people skip breakfast one to three times per week. Among those who eat breakfast, cold cereal is the most popular (83%), followed by eggs (71%).

In addition to low glycemic index, Dr. Shelke said the ideal breakfast for consumers has these attributes:
• Savory
• Portable
• Pleasing texture
• Fills you up for extended periods of time
• Satiates quickly so less is consumed
• Affordable for the whole family to eat every day
• Non-fried
• Delicious without making you feeling guilty

“This is a very tall order for food product manufacturers,” Shelke said. “It takes a lot of skill and understanding.”

While it may present challenges for food manufacturers, it is well worth it to develop these products because of the prevalence of diabetes and pre-diabetes in the United States and beyond. It is estimated that by 2030, more than 16% of the global population will have a blood sugar problem.

“Most of the risk factors are things that can be managed and modified,” Shelke said. “We can reverse pre-diabetes and prevent it from becoming diabetes. Food has become the reason for what’s ailing us, but it can actually be a solution in a number of different ways.”

If you eat a cereal for breakfast, I strongly urge you to first pour your milk or better yet your almond milk into the bowl. Then mix in a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder and then add your cereal with some frozen blueberries or strawberries. Eating a “breakfast cereal” alone is a recipe for a health disaster waiting to happen.

Always keep in mind that the food you choose can be your healer or it can be your killer.

Saturday I was called by Mistie Miles to come to her Mom’s house and pray over her. Dena has cancer and I anointed her with oil and prayed over her with the family. See James 5. I have to share with you it was an AWESOME time of peace and healing! So much peace and healing in that house! On the drive over the Holy Spirit was moving in me!!! WOW!! I was shaking in goose bumps, the Holy Spirit brought so much peace and healing into that house! WOW WEE!

Tremendous movement of the Holy Spirit, many cries, much happiness at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!

To me what hinders peace and healing many times is, NOT ALL CASES, is our lack of receiving what is being offered by God.I repeat Not in all cases of course, but I am finding it to be true in some cases, just an observation from my sick calls. Don’t fight the Holy Spirit and believe in all of God’s written Word.

I also want to share this: I make house calls for Jesus! I was just thrilled in Jesus to get that call, I will go anywhere, anytime for my LORD. I do not boast in that for myself, but for God’s Glory Alone I make myself available to all at anytime, and this is a Preacher who still will make house calls!!!!!!!!!! For God has given me this to do!!!!!!!!!!!!

We must make ourselves available to each other for the Kingdom of God!!! AMEN AMEN!!!!!

Sad day at the Moede house yesterday as Gretchen went back to Portales and goodbye to Lars who flies back to Chicago today after a quick spring break! I love the kids so much!

In Reading the book, Kingdom Man I look at our children and see that they are all thriving, even with all the challenges they have been through! We all go through many, many challenges…if we are grounded in Jesus Christ we will come through. The book written by Tony Evans is a book every man needs to read.

God told Abraham and David that He planned to make their names great. God was going to see to it their names be etched in stone. God would make sure that these men would not just come here, been here, and then left here. God would make sure that these men would forever be known as great.

Yet before I go any further, I want to pause because I can hear your concern. I hear what you are saying. You are saying, “But, Tony, That’s Abraham. That’s David. Those are great men. That’s not me. I am just an ordinary man. God never said that to me.”

OH! BUT YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!

HE did!

In fact Jesus did, in John 14:12, Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do.”

That is not a verse we hear preached on too frequently throughout Christendom. But I am not sure why. It is pretty straightforward truth. Maybe the majority of our preachers have a difficult time believing that something that sounds so good could actually be true.

Yet Jesus said plainly that, if you believe in Him, you are going to do stuff that even He didn’t get to do on earth. That is a POWERFUL reality that I don’t want you to miss. That is kingdom truth,. Not only will you do the great things that Jesus did, but you will also do even greater things.

AMEN! Do you believe?????? It’s all in the GOOD BOOK!

Most problems in our society can be put on Men not being Kingdom Men………

As many of you know Sidney, Montana is a special place to me. I started radio in Sidney after Brown College and an internship at the Minnesota News Network. I love the Sidney area, always will. Craig and Anita Price adopted this young sportscaster on KGCX back in 1979……..I got this email from Anita last week as she wrote to me about the funeral of Sherry Arnold the school teacher in Sidney that was killed………..

Good Morning Dewey – Today there will be a funeral for Sherry Arnold, the beloved daughter, wife, mother, teacher that was abducted and killed. So much media has entered into this tragedy. We are glad Sherry will be put to rest-she is in the arms of Jesus. God Bless Sherry and God Bless her loved ones.

After evil took Sherry Arnold away from Sidney Jan. 7, good took center stage Friday when community members were able to bid their final goodbyes to their teacher, mother, daughter, colleague and friend at Arnold’s funeral.

Close to 3,000 individuals including family members, teachers, law enforcement, friends and students gathered in the Sidney High School gym for the nearly two-hour service.

Although Sherry Arnold was no longer alive, the gym was filled with the loving spirit she brought to the area.
The strength and amount of Sherry’s love in the community was evident in the messages given during the service. While Pastor David Warner, Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated, messages were also offered from Pastor David Meehan, Ebenezer Congregational Church, Father Ned Shinnick, St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, and Pastor George Karres, Pella Lutheran Church.
Religious leaders commended the support offered by the community to the family during the tragedy.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced such a sad thing,” Father Shinnick said of the incident. He noted no human can measure the damage.
He went on, “Many of you were violated in this community. This community was violated. Very sad. But we don’t stay there alone.”
Pastor Karres noted, “Here, we are. All our hearts are broken.” He said the tragedy was Sidney’s 9-11. “Yet, God is still here. God is weeping with us.”
Shinnick urged residents to build and re-create the community and make it “a safe and beautiful place to live in.”
Karres said just as Christian followers felt badly on Good Friday, residents are sad now. “But God is going to turn death into life. Easter is coming, say it with me.”
Karres closed, “Through Jesus, Sherry is going to live again forever, and so shall we. Remember, Easter is coming, Easter is coming, hallelujah, hallelujah.”
Pastor Meehan reminded that like Sherry Arnold, God is a mathematician and He has a distinct plan for every life.
Paster Warner said that although many pastors were involved with the service, “far more people (throughout the community) have been preaching Christ in this struggle.”
He noted that even through the darkest days of this journey, people were stepping up to tell others about God and Jesus Christ. Christian acts were also seen by how residents stepped forward to comfort the Arnold family and other community members.
Sidney Superintendent of Schools Daniel Farr also mentioned the tremendous amount of support for the Arnold family as well as school staff members. Farr said he is proud to live in a community where residents show so much concern and compassion.
“We will be a stronger community because Sherry has planted many seeds for us during her lifetime,” Farr said.

But without a doubt, the United States is one of the most unique nations in the history of the world. Some of the weird facts about the United States listed below may be difficult for you to believe. April 2, 2012. Be sure to stay connected to your life source. The yaupon tree outside my study at home was badly damaged by a severe freeze with heavy snow. We pruned the most damaged limbs. Other limbs remained but the bark on those branches were beginning to fall away, robbing the limb of the nutrients from the main trunk it needed. After seeking ways to restore the damaged limbs, they have now been severed. It appears that two or three strong and healthy limbs will survive. One way to stay healthy in your connection is to continually receive nourishment in preparation for hard times. Those times will surely come. For instance, I had an option to connect to the Internet today through Wi-Fi or a hard wire. The hard wire was better but the connection was loose. I stayed with the Wi-Fi to send this email. God says, “Insist on healthy connections that will remain fruitful.”

How do You Replace Sugar?
The number one thing to eliminate in your life is sugar – no matter what kind of diet you may be on. So, how do you replace it? That’s where your “alternative” sugars come in to play. What exactly are alternative sugars? Some really are sugars, such as honey, agave and coconut palm sugar, some are herbs like stevia or luo han, and then there are the infamous sugar alcohols, such as xylitol and erythritol.

Alternative sweeteners are faddish these days leading you to believe that they are a health food. Therefore, let’s take a look at a few of the more popular alternative sweeteners. Are they healthy? Is it okay if they’re made from corn?

Before we dive into individual alternative sweeteners, I want to give you my take on them. In a nutshell, they are a great option in moderation… yes, moderation, instead of a free-for-all like we were all really hoping for. Sorry. Are they healthy? Not really, because they are super processed products. Yes, some do have a few health benefits, but besides honey, they are not usually whole foods. They are isolated components that have very little nutritive value.

Stevia
Stevia is an herb, and if you grow your own stevia (which is easy to do) and use the leaves to sweeten your food, this would be considered a whole food. But most of us aren’t going to do this, because it’s not convenient and the leaves leave a bitter aftertaste. The bitter taste in stevia is what gives it its health properties, but manufacturers remove that component from store bought stevia so that it is palatable, leaving very little health benefit, if any.

So, that leads us to the powdered and liquid form of stevia, both of which are extremely processed and are then often mixed with other highly processed ingredients to make them taste better and more convenient to use. Does that make stevia bad? Not necessarily, depending on what type you buy. In fact KAL liquid stevia is probably one of the best alternative sweeteners out there. It’s definitely not the most natural form of stevia, but this alcohol-free version tastes great and isn’t mixed with processed fillers that most powdered stevia’s use. Use it in small amounts, and it’ll keeps you on track with your healthy eating and health goals.

Overall, alternative sweeteners are a good option when added to a healthy whole-food diet, but keep in mind that they are highly processed and need to be consumed in moderation.

Luo Han (also spelled Lo Han)
Lou han has been gaining popularity over the past few years. It’s a fruit from China related to an herb in the gourd family (cucumbers, squashes, etc.). A chemical compound found in lou han called “morgoside” is extracted and used as a sweetener. It’s 300-400 times sweeter than sugar and is very similar to stevia. Lou han has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries to treat various symptoms, such as a chronic cough or sore throat. Since we’re taking just a component of a whole food and isolating it, I highly doubt our isolated, processed version of lou han has the same medicinal value as back in the day, but it has been shown to have anti-fungal properties.

Lou han would be considered “friendly” to your diet, depending on what fillers the manufacturer uses. Just like stevia, manufacturers often add filler so it can be used in cooking similar to regular table sugar. Again, these fillers are processed and usually derived from corn and other undesirable ingredients. The liquid lou han that is mixed with maltodextrin or alcohol (corn derivatives), so I’d suggest you stick with KAL liquid stevia since it is easier to find, doesn’t have any fillers, and tastes pretty good. But lou han is a doable option, but do your research to find a quality brand and have fun experimenting.

And now on to the controversial sugar alcohols; people usually either love or hate them.

Xylitol
Xylitol naturally occurs in virtually all fruits and veggies, but the type you buy in the store either comes from the birch tree or the corncob. They use the corncob most often, because it’s the cheapest way to isolate xylitol. Xylitol is a completely isolated component; it does not contain any residual corn allergens, proteins, fungus, mycotoxins or other contaminants. Xylitol made from corn is okay, is friendly with your diet, and contains anti-fungal properties.

Keep in mind that a natural substance in a whole food is extracted and isolated, and this is what makes them far from natural anymore. Xylitol is not sugar at all, but rather a sugar alcohol that has 40% fewer calories than sugar, itself. It has a slow, steady energy release, which makes it a great choice for diabetics.

The downfall of xylitol and other sugar alcohols is that it is metabolized differently than sugar, which can cause a laxative effect, gas or bloating until the body becomes accustomed to it. Introducing it into your diet slowly, starting out with a very small amount – maybe one cookie made with xylitol or 1 teaspoon in a smoothie and see how you do with it. Some folks just can’t handle sugar alcohols, so they need to stick with the other alternative sweeteners.

Xylitol looks and tastes just like sugar and can be substituted in recipes one-for-one, meaning ¼ cup of sugar equals ¼ cup of xylitol. Some folks think it’s slightly sweeter than sugar, so they like to use a little less xylitol. I suggest you don’t use more than ½ cup of xylitol in a baking recipe; it’s just too much and is sure to cause stomach discomfort. If you need more sweetness, then mix it with other alternative sweeteners. In fact, this is what you may want to do in your recipes that call for xylitol. One nice benefit of using xylitol is that it helps your baked goods stay moist!

Xylitol would be my second favorite sugar-free alternative sweetener, behind liquid stevia.

Erythritol
This is another sugar alcohol that has gained popularity. It occurs naturally in fruit, mushrooms and some fermented products. It is highly processed, but there’s no concern for fungal or mycotoxin issues, making it friendly for your diet. Erythritol exhibits some, but not all, of xylitol’s anti-fungal properties.

A lot of people get excited about the fact that erythritol is supposedly easier to digest, causing less chance for stomach discomfort. But, it’s only 60-70% as sweet as sugar, so you must use more to achieve the same sweetness as xylitol or sugar. For cooking, you’d replace 1 cup white sugar with 1 ¼ cup erythritol.

Most cooks are not a fan of erythritol for baking. Unlike xylitol, it actually tends to cause baked goods to dry out. It also has a distinct cooling sensation in the mouth, which xylitol has, but it is much more pronounced with erythritol. It also tends to accentuate the waxy characteristics of the fat used in the recipe, and there is always some type of fat added to baked goods. Because of these undesirable characteristics, erythritol is also often mixed with other fillers. So always read the ingredients and know what you’re buying.

Honey
Truly raw, unprocessed honey is a whole food and occurs naturally in nature. It’s the best sugar choice as far as health benefits go. Honey is not just sugar. It’s a whole food, which is rich in amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These co-factors give honey its anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties that make the health benefits so extraordinary.

The problem is, according to Food Safety News, almost 80% of the brands from big box grocers and pharmacies tested had no trace of pollen. No pollen means that it is NOT honey. 100% of those little packets of honey you find at restaurants contained NO pollen, which means its fake honey. Imitation or fake honey is usually a syrupy concoction of cane sugar or high fructose corn syrup in water with colorings and binding additives, and maybe a small amount of honey. Don’t use it.

When buying honey, buy it from a health food store and do your research on the brand you’re buying. Most health food stores will carry local honey, which is often raw and unfiltered, but if you know of a local bee farm then get it from them.

Raw, unfiltered honey is friendly to your diet in moderation. Honey is a food high in sugar therefore you’ll want to use it very sparingly. If you are dealing with some type of health issue or weight problem, I suggest you go with the completely sugar-free alternatives that’s discussed above.

Agave Syrup/Nectar:
Agave is sugar and sugar feeds fungus. On top of that, agave is highly-processed and 90% fructose. Food manufacturers would like you to believe that agave nectar flows from the agave plant straight into the jar, but this just isn’t true; it’s very processed. According to Weston A. Price, “While agave syrup won’t spike your blood glucose levels, the fructose in it may cause mineral depletion, liver inflammation, hardening of the arteries, insulin resistance leading to diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and obesity.” So, with that said, agave is NOT on my list as a healthy alternative sugar. Please avoid.

Coconut Palm Sugar / Coconut Nectar
It’s important to know that “coconut sugar” is not derived from the coconut fruit itself, but from the flowers of the coconut trees. So unfortunately, it does not have the astounding health benefits that coconuts have. But if you find truly raw coconut sugar/nectar, it does contain some live enzymes, minerals, amino acids, Vitamin C and some B vitamins. It is absorbed into the bloodstream at a significantly slower rate than regular refined sugar, which helps to avoid blood sugar spikes.

Coconut sugar has been getting a lot of press lately, and new brands seem to be popping up left and right. You may want to try Coconut Secret, because it is raw and minimally processed. There are a lot of highly processed junk brands out there that would basically be the equivalent of eating table sugar, and some are blended with other fillers such as white cane sugar. So read the labels and do your research.

Coconut sugar/nectar IS sugar. As we’ve talked about, at the end of the day, the body and fungus sees all sugar as sugar (regardless of the type), but on occasion if you want to make a sweet treat and need real sugar, use raw unrefined coconut palm sugar. It’s reminiscent of brown sugar, it has an incredible caramel butterscotch sweetness and no coco-nutty taste. You can substitute coconut sugar for traditional sugar at a 1:1 ratio in normal cooking and baking.

Just like all “healthy” foods get put up on a pedestal for a time period, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some negative press coming out about coconut sugar over the coming years for the same reasons agave has been dethroned. Sugar is sugar, not a health food… so be careful.

Anything in excess is unhealthy. Most folks need to eliminate all sugars, including honey and coconut sugar. But don’t be fooled into thinking that the sugar-free alternatives are healthy. They are a great option, but they are not a whole food and should be used in moderation.

Bottom Line: Always question processed and concentrated foods that are not found in nature, even if they are “raw” or “natural”. Enjoy these alternative sugars while gaining back and maintaining your health, but listen to your body to find out which ones work for you.

The first thing I notice when I receive income and expense statistics from folks wanting to learn how to establish a budget, is the number of items most people have mixed in with their needs that are actually wants. To have an effective budget you have to learn to get down to the “nitty gritty” and sort things out. A need is basic necessity in life, anything else is a want. Needs establish the basis for your budget, wants come after you’ve established a successful budget and have a discretionary spending fund in place. Let’s look at this a little bit deeper. Food is a broad concept. It includes groceries and eating out (on an occasional basis), but outside of that much of what I see listed as food is “entertainment”; which is a want, not a need. Coffee shops, delis, pizza, ice cream, “big” anything, you get the picture…these are items or times of entertainment and not part of a food budget. These expenditures can exist in a budget, but let’s be honest, if you are having trouble making “ends meet” these are the first items that should “end” until you can “meet” your budget goals. Learn to be specific in your budget which will make you honest in your assessment of your financial condition. First time budget lists often have line items that say Wal Mart, Target, Smiths, which are all store names not budget entries. When I find a store name listed in the food section I always ask to see the receipt. Yup, you guessed it, there among the “food items” I find cosmetics, toiletries, electronics, batteries, toys, clothing items…anything and everything that a big box store sells is of course there. Take each receipt and break down the expenditures into their appropriate categories. Once you’ve done this a few times you will see how grocery shopping at big box stores leads to impulse buying…stick to the list and don’t browse the other isles is the best cure for this budget buster. The Lord is not against wants, He delights in blessing His children, but His promise is to supply our needs when we are faithful stewards of what He has entrusted to us.

Your wife is stronger than you think! I had a friend Tom Johnson point that out to me months ago, it awoken further love for Sharon in me……..I had underestimated Sharon’s strength.

I have to say that I am a firm believer in all of us having mentor’s, having people around us to tell us things we need to hear….things that God has told them to tell us! I see this as a huge problem in the Body of Christ………surrounding ourselves with people that just tell us what WE want to hear, not what WE NEED to hear!

My prayer is that each day you drink this CUP with your Bible in hand.

WOW WEE! Hallelujah!! What a day yesterday!! A day of miracles!

Yesterday I am sitting in the control room of KKIM and finishing the CUP as the Computer at home is just gotten wore out……..this is 5:30 in the morning as I finish the CUP and get ready for a live break during our Radio-A-Thon. The lovely man on the phone says, “Dewey I read on the CUP that you need a computer!” I said, “Yes, In fact I ordered one yesterday from Angelo Winfield yesterday…He said, “We are going to pay for it!!” I wept…….I wept……..More to the story……Karen Rowe told me on Tuesday to order the Computer in faith and to not let the blessing of the CUP be taken….order the computer on faith….I ordered it and then a mentor of mine, Pastor, calls (he does not want his named used, he said it is all for the Glory of God) and it’s all paid for! I wept more and more…..

I wept much yesterday…….tears of joy and blessings…..one of the problems with us these days is that we don’t cry enough…tears of our Lord……

There is more…………Even is this economy……..WE WENT PASS OUR GOAL OF 150 Children yesterday!!!!!!!!!! We are on our way to 200!!!! Thanks to all of you who helped rescue Children in Haiti!!! WHAT HAVE I LEARNED: This part of about giving and being blessed has been tarnished by the Church and too many Ministries and Evangelists, too many have done what an unbelieving world wants to see……It has hurt solid Ministries like Cross International and KKIM and most Ministries, it’s the few that do the damage. I myself have learned by my relationship with Jesus Christ…….that the Holy Spirit will move me when it is time to give and I give, even if I don’t see that I have it, but then it comes back to me in many ways…….We have to give with a pure heart……..and receive with a pure heart………no other motive……..no other motive…….The key to a life in Jesus Christ is a pure heart for Him……an ear that hears Him. To act when we hear Him, even if we do not see it!

In his book, Kingdom Man, Tony Evans says that Psalm 128 is the mantra of a Kingdom man…….

“How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,

Who walks in His ways.

When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands,

You will be happy and it will be well with you.

Your wife shall be happy and it will be well with you.

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine within your house.

Your children like olive plants

Around your table.

Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed

Who fears the Lord.

The Lord bless you from Zion,

And may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.

Indeed, may you see your children’s children.

Peace be upon Israel!”

In this Psalm, David outlines the life of a Kingdom Man. he begins with the personal life of a man who fears the Lord: “How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways. When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands, you will be happy and it will be well with you.”

Read that again…….How is your walk with Jesus doing? Yesterday I witnessed a Christian man lying……to another Christian man and women. These are the kind of things that an unbelieving world loves to see. There is too much of this in the Body of Christ!

I was asked so what do you think Dewey? I said, and I really mean this: I try not to do something stupid everyday…….If we keep focused on walking right beside Jesus we all would be better off…….if we would just think and know that Jesus hears and sees everything…….We must not embarrass our Lord.

Simple things..but the flesh struggles so much at times…….

Daddy used to say, “Sometimes the less said, the better………..the Lord just gave me those words……

I am seeing more clearly in my life the fruit of my hands…….can you see the fruit you have produced?

What if we all took a moment right now to stop and be silent and in our minds picture the fruit you have produced over your life time……..PRAISE GOD!

David writes about the family of a Kingdom man……”Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine within your house, your children like olive plants around your table.”

Next, David talks about the Kingdom man in relation to the church: “The Lord bless you from Zion.”

And David concludes with the Kingdom Man and his community, including his greater society and his legacy: “And may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. Indeed, may you see your children’s children. Peace be upon Israel.”

The blessing comes when a Kingdom Man fears the Lord and walks in His ways in his personal life.

This morning as I was eating my breakfast at the table with my grandson Connor who is 2 years old. I was reading out of my Bible John 12:12-19. I was getting some study time in for Palm Sunday. Soaked into the word, I was awaken by the sound of Connor saying to me “Bible, my Bible”. I realized that Connor had been watching me and wanted to first copy me in what I was doing and the second thing was that he wanted to please me. So I ran to get his Bible from the family room and placed it next to him. I stopped my study and read to him 2 or 3 quick stories out of the Bible for Connor. He was so please and excited to hear about Jesus and just how much He love us.
This reminded me that we need to set a good example to our children and yes even our grandchildren because they are watching us. Paul said follow me as I follow Christ. Jesus said to have faith like a child. My grandson is just learning at 2 to talk and express himself of his need. Today I saw his need to know God’s word and to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Please take the time to encourage the next generation to know Jesus our Lord and Savior.

A Community Before Christ

Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” (Mt. 25:40)

Here is both a rewarding encouragement and a warning that should bring us up short. Whatever we do to Christ’s brethren is reckoned as being done unto Himself.

We can show kindness to the Lord Jesus any day by showing kindness to a fellow-believer. When we show hospitality to God’s people, it is the same as if we entertain Him in our homes. If we give them the master bedroom, we are giving it to Him.

Almost anyone would be quick to do everything possible for the Savior if He came as King of kings and Lord of lords. But He commonly comes to our door in very humble guise, and it is this that puts us to the test. The way we treat the least of His brethren is the way we treat Him.

A godly old preacher visited an assembly in hopes of being able to share with the saints from the Word. He did not have personal charisma and may not have had a dynamic pulpit style. But he was a servant of God and did have a message from the Lord. The elders told him that they could not ask him to stay for meetings and suggested that he go to a meeting in the black ghetto. He did, and was warmly received by the brethren there. During his week of meetings, he took a heart attack and died. It was as if the Lord was saying to the brothers in the fashionable assembly, “You may not have wanted him but I did. In refusing him you refused Me.”

In his poem “How the Great Guest Came,” Edwin Mark-ham tells of an old cobbler who made elaborate preparations for a dreamed-of visit from the Lord. The Lord never came. But when a beggar came, the cobbler put shoes on his feet. When an old lady came, the cobbler helped her with her load and gave her food. When a lost child came, the cobbler took her back to her mother.

Then soft in the silence a voice he heard:

Lift up your heart, for I kept my word.

Three times I came to your friendly door;

Three times my shadow was on your floor.

I was the beggar with bruised feet,

I was the woman you gave to eat,

I was the child in the homeless street.

Isaiah 53:9 Old Testament Prophecy

At eveining time, a rich man from Arimathea arrived. His name was Joseph, and he had become a disciple of Jesus. he went to Pilate and asked to be given Jesus body; Pilate assented and oprdered his servants to turn Jesus body over to Joseph. So Joseph took the body, wrapped Jesus in a clean sheath of white linen, and laid Jesus in His own new tomb, which he had carved from a rock.

Joseph of Arimathea had become a disciple of Jesus. he was honoring Jesus the only way he knew how; little did Joseph know that three days later Jesus body would not need a tomb anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus’ Last Words on the Cross

The hill is quiet now. Not still but quiet. For the first time all day there is no noise. The clamor began to subside when the darkness—that puzzling midday darkness—fell. Like water douses a fire, the shadows doused the ridicule. No more taunts. No more jokes. No more jesting. And, in time, no more mockers. One by one the onlookers turned and began the descent.
That is, all the onlookers except you and me. We did not leave. We came to learn. And so we lingered in the semidarkness and listened. We listened to the soldiers cursing, the passersby questioning, and the women weeping. But most of all, we listened to the trio of dying men groaning. Hoarse, guttural, thirsty groans. They groaned with each rolling of the head and each pivot of the legs.
But as the minutes became hours, these groans diminished. The three seemed dead. Were it not for the belabored breathing, you would have thought they were.
Then he screamed. As if someone had yanked his hair, the back of his head slammed against the sign that bore his name, and he screamed. Like a dagger cuts the curtain, his scream cut the dark. Standing as straight as the nails would permit, he cried as one calling for a lost friend, “Eloi!”
His voice was raspy, scratchy. Reflections of the torch flame danced in his wide eyes. “My God!”
Ignoring the volcano of erupting pain, he pushed upward until his shoulders were higher than his nailed hands. “Why have you forsaken me?”
The soldiers stared. The weeping of the women ceased. One of the Pharisees sneered sarcastically, “He’s calling Elijah.”
No one laughed.
He’d shouted a question to the heavens, and you half expected heaven to shout one in return.
And apparently it did. For the face of Jesus softened, and an afternoon dawn broke as he spoke a final time. “It is finished. Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”

As he gave his final breath, the earth gave a sudden stir. A rock rolled, and a soldier stumbled. Then, as suddenly as the silence was broken, the silence returned.
And now all is quiet. The mocking has ceased. There is no one to mock.
The soldiers are busy with the business of cleaning up the dead. Two men have come. Dressed well and meaning well, they are given the body of Jesus.

March 30, 2012. A most precious lady we once knew had the habit of covering her mouth when she spoke. She was not one who liked to draw attention to herself. But just the opposite was true. She was awkward and retiring from the presence of almost everyone who knew her. Her talents were remarkable in every way. We grew to love her deeply. Once I knew she believed that my wife and I really loved and accepted her, I asked her about her noticeable habit. She would never say one way another. She took all this to her premature death and grave. Without reference to our dear friend in any way, the Lord is saying, “If you have done foolishly in exalting yourself, you may lay your hand over your mouth. But all you need really do is confess your sin, receive your forgiveness and walk in total liberty and joy. Receive My grace.”

March 30, 2012. I know you’re frustrated. This frustration is coming across to others as real anger. You don’t want that. Those involved will respond to the anger in an adverse way and not hear the important things you are saying. You have been dwelling on this for a long time and it has built up so much anger in you. It is like you are in a pressure cooker. I am the only One who can process your anger, because I know your heart. Pop off to Me. You need this until you can get it all in a logical thought out way where others can hear what you are saying. Act wisely and do this.

March 30, 2012. Lay aside the spirit of timidity. I did not give that particular spirit to you. Instead I have given My power and a complete mindset. For too long My Church has become comfortable within the walls of where they meet together. It is good to assemble together with other believers in worship. Likewise it is good to get out beyond yourselves and deliver My good news to a lost and dying generation. Your dependence cannot be not upon you. I am the one who brings conviction of sin. I need you to play an active role in sharing the new life I bring. The Spirit of the Lord is upon you.

Pills versus Lifestyle
Recently, in an act of desperation to turn back the tide of the obesity epidemic that now affects almost seven out of every ten Americans and over 80% of some populations (African American women), the advisory committee to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) voted 20 to 2 to recommend approval of Qnexa, a “new” obesity drug that is simply the combination of two older medications, phentermine (the “phen” of phen-fen”) and topiramate (Topamax).

This was an outrageously dangerous decision. Mounting evidence proves that the solution to lifestyle and diet-driven obesity-related illnesses including heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and even cancer, won’t be found in a prescription bottle.

By 2020, over 50% of the US adult population will have type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, with annual costs approaching $500 billion. By 2030, total annual economic costs of cardiovascular disease in the US are predicted to exceed $1 trillion. By 2030, globally we will spend $47 trillion; yes trillion, to address the effects of chronic lifestyle-driven disease. Outrageous!

Prescription medication for lifestyle diseases has failed to barely dent the obesity and disease curve. Statins are known to increase the risk of diabetes in women by 48%. And large data reviews by independent international scientists from the Cochrane Collaborative found that statins only work to prevent second heart attacks, not first heart attacks, which means they are not helpful and most likely harmful for 75% of those who take them.

Avandia, the number one blockbuster drug for type 2 diabetes has caused nearly 200,000 deaths from heart attacks since it was introduced in 1999. The drug was designed to prevent complications of diabetes, yet heart attacks are the very disease that kills most type 2 diabetics. In 2011, the FDA issued stricter prescribing guidelines for Avandia, but the drug is still on the market. Outrageous!

The large ACCORD trial found in over 10,000 diabetics that intensive blood-sugar lowering with medication and insulin actually led to more heart attacks and deaths.

Something is deeply and outrageously wrong with the medical approach.

The problem of chronic disease, including obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, is not a medication deficiency, but a problem with what we put… at the end of our fork.

Why would good men and women of science vote to approve a medication for a condition that is a social disease and requires a social cure? The social, environmental, economic, and political conditions of America and increasingly the global community have created a fatty environment.

Something must be done. But it’s not better medication or surgery or more angioplasties and stents, which have no proven benefit in over 90% of those who receive them. The data shows they work for acute coronary events, but not stable angina or blockages.

We continue to pay for expensive treatments for chronic disease, despite the fact that they don’t work, while insurance does not pay for nutrition counseling unless the patient has kidney failure or diabetes. Outrageous!

Chronic disease is a food-borne illness. We ate our way into this mess and we must eat our way out.

Every year the average American consumes 24 pounds of French fries, 23 pounds of pizza, 24 pounds of ice cream, 53 gallons of soda (or a gallon each week), 24 pounds of artificial sweeteners, 2.7 pounds of salt, 90,700 mg of caffeine, and about 2,700 calories a day. And that’s just the average. Lord, convict us!

Do we really think that we can medicate our way of this problem with a repackaged old diet drug (phentermine), combined with an older anti-seizure medication (Topamax)? Both these drugs have dangerous side effects, including increased heart rate, heart attacks, and birth defects such as cleft lip.

Large studies published over many decades show that 90% of coronary heart disease cases, 90% of type 2 diabetes cases, and one-third of cancers can be avoided by maintaining a healthier diet, increasing physical activity, and stopping smoking. We must treat the cause, not the symptoms.

Mounting evidence points to the power of food to reverse heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, and even to lengthen our telomeres, slowing the aging process. In a recent study, intensive dietary change reversed advanced type 2 diabetes in only 12 weeks. There is no medication that can achieve those results.

There really is a simple solution to our obesity epidemic. But it’s not in a pill bottle. It’s at the end of our forks. It is simply more effective than any medication and works better, faster, and cheaper, not just as prevention, but also as treatment for what ails us. We can change our fatty environment through individual small choices we make every day, and making changes in our homes, our families, our schools, our workplaces, our churches. In Jesus’ name, we have the power to be well.
