The Shining light of little Graham.

This is a true story that took place right here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. My prayer after you read this is that your light for Jesus Christ will be even brighter. That you will be Salt and Light. Some talk……..others do it….like little Graham who passed onto Heaven at age 7. An Aunt of Graham’s, Julia, who works for our Sister Station KHFM, walked into my office at the Radio Ranch yesterday and said, “I would like to donate something to your 40th Birthday celebration for KKIM.” I said, “Well, thank you!” She said, “My little nephew Graham just passed away at age 7 and I would like to do something in his memory, by giving away the book, Heaven is for Real, which he would read to kid’s and adults as his Ministry.”

Let Graham’s Dad pick up the Rest of the Story………….This was in my email box last night when I got home……..

Hello Pastor Dewey – my sister mentioned your upcoming anniversary (congrats!) and the fact that she shared some of Graham’s story. She said you requested some elaboration so here goes…

Graham was diagnosed with choroid plexus carcinoma, a very rare brain cancer at age 2 ½ on May 15, 2007. Over the next 4 ¾ years he battled his cancer – a total of 5 craniotomies to remove tumors (two were aborted due to serious complications), 3 shunts installed in his skull, 2 ½ years (total) chemotherapy, and 6 weeks focal radiation. This does not include additional planned/unplanned trips to the hospital (total time over the 5 years probably equaled 3+ months). In the end this highly aggressive cancer took his life on February 16th of this year.

Graham never let cancer get him down. He had his moments, certainly, but during the vast majority of his time he shrugged it off and acted as any normal kid would. Even as he quickly declined at the end, he had very few moments where he was down on life.

Last summer, about a month before we found out (in August 2011) that his cancer had metastasized, Graham started talking more and more about God and Heaven – wanting to know what it was about and how to get there and who (in our family) was already there. My wife explained that to get to Heaven you must have Jesus in your heart, and Graham not only accepted this, he embraced it. He began asking classmates and teachers and adults whether they had ‘Jesus in their heart’ so he could be assured of seeing them in Heaven.

There are other indications between August and December 2011 that Graham knew how things were going to end but he told us that God had told him “it was going to be okay.” On December 7th, we told Graham (and his sister Sara) that there was nothing more the doctors could do to treat his cancer. We were all obviously upset but he immediately grasped the significance of the news. Very shortly after that, one of our church (Oasis Community Church – Pastor Keith Ritter) members gave Graham the book Heaven is for Real for Kids. My wife and I had recently read the adult version.

This became ‘Graham’s book.’ It took him about a week to memorize it. We read it nearly every night at bedtime and he read it many times on his own. He told others about the book. He told others about Heaven as described in the book. He spread the Word. It became utterly apparent that Graham had accepted his fate, placed absolute trust in God, and was ready to take his place in Heaven. Then others heard of Graham’s love for the book and my wife received requests for Graham to read it aloud – first a class at our local Mennonite school, then for our Church, then for the entire student body of the Mennonite school, and finally, in our living room, to his own 1st grade class plus teachers, the principal, parents and high school aged brothers and sisters. He did this even as he lost his hearing, began to experience ‘palsy’ in his face, and ultimately the ability to speak clearly.

Graham touched many people in that time. As I stated in my comments at his service, “Who knew that in two short months he would accomplish more than I dare say some pastors do in a lifetime?” He was an amazing little boy. He is sorely missed…

What an AWESOME testimony…………I think I should change Little Graham to BIG Graham! We can learn much from his testimony……..what can you learn from BIG Graham’s life? What can you change about yourself this day? My challenge to us all this day is be a World Changer for Jesus Christ like BIG Graham! One of my prayers this day is that you and I be as effective in sharing Jesus with other’s as BIG Graham!

He talked it and walked it and shared it!

Dearest Dewey, Sharon and Family.

When you spoke of the passing of your father Dewey, it reminded me of my ex-Mother-in-law. I never had the Honor of meeting that Godly woman. But as the story goes,she was in a coma, just before she passed on to Glory, she woke up, Looked up, and said “Yes, I know you”
That story has always Blessed my heart. I’ve only heard of the Godly Faith she had, and what a wonderful woman she was. Her last moments here on this earth will go down through all her Children’s children to family connected to her. Well, now to Friends of Family as well.. Not only was her life a Legacy for them/and us, but her death as well. We never know what God has in store for us.

Hi Dewey!

Reading about your Dad’s death when he was 64 reminded me of my Dad. He was almost 66 when he died April 3, 1981. He didn’t die on Easter but very close. His last words were, “Look at all the faces smiling at me”. I was so grateful to the ER physician for calling my mom a week or so after he died and telling her that.

Anyway, just another thing we have in common!

So, I want to tell you about a wonderful man of God that I first heard speak about 7 years ago. He came back to speak at our church (Calvary Chapel Eastside) again in March. His name is Samy Tanagho.

Below is an excerpt from his website www.gladnewsministry.com

“Samy Tanagho was born and raised in Egypt where he studied Islamic law and Islamic religion at Ain Shams University (School of Law) in Cairo, Egypt and later practiced law as an attorney. Samy is Chairman of the Board for the Glad News For Muslims non-profit corporation.

Samy has been sharing the Gospel with Muslims for over 30 years. He speaks on God’s love towards sinners and how we can communicate the Gospel effectively to the people we meet, including Muslims.

Samy’s passion is to encourage every member in the body of Christ to be active in fulfilling the Great Commission. His wife Hala often joins him to share her story of imprisonment in Egypt for converting from Islam to Christianity.”

Samy spoke of the population explosion of Muslim believers throughout the world. While many nations are encouraging couples to have one, or at the most two children, Islam encourages it people to have as many as possible.

That said, the more Muslims we can effectively share the Gospel with the better (for many reasons)!

I love Samy’s heart for all people. His love for the Lord is contagious! His wife Hala was with him at our church 7 years ago. When she got up to speak her face was radiant and all she could say was how beautiful Jesus is, how wonderful etc, etc. She has bragging rights about being imprisoned for her faith but all she talked about was how wonderful our Savior is! I will never forget her speaking. At the time she didn’t speak much English so had an interpreter. (Samy)

Anyway I’m now assisting Samy’s mission work by contacting people who would possibly be interested in inviting him to speak. Many churches welcome him to speak but many are either afraid of the Muslim people or don’t feel they are worth saving.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this Dewey. I’d love to talk with you on the phone when you have a minute, ok…maybe more than a minute! I feel this is extremely timely and will benefit many who will hear.

Somehow I discovered the Bible was like an “Operators Manual” for living life God’s way, successfully. I broke down this verse to my understanding. Believing I had been justified by faith, I believed and received God’s blessing for my family through Abraham the believer. Over and over again I confessed it to be true. I still do that. I am blessed and my family is blessed. All my descendants are blessed. My church is blessed. My ministry is blessed. Even I myself am now a blessing to others. Could it get any better? Join me.

April 11, 2012. Recently I was walking with someone around a barn. We then walked through a paddock and towards a pond. While under an oak tree we noticed some rather large deer tracks within the trodden pathway of cattle and donkeys. Upon further inspection, I noticed tracks of raccoons, dogs and cats. The Lords says, “Upon the pathway of your life, utilize the opportunities I give to share My love with others. Make a positive impact on those with whom you cross paths. You have far greater value than any animal will ever have. Shine forth My righteousness upon others walking the pathway of life. Make an indelible mark that leaves an everlasting impression.”

Some Tips on How to Prevent Back Pain and Get Some Relief

Sometimes how you stand, sit, or even sleep can cause back pain. In fact, the smallest of things – bending over to pick a pencil up or scooping up your grandchild for a hug – can throw your back out of whack. Here’s some advice for you to take to help you prevent back pain or get some relief.

– When you have to stand up for a while, don’t just stand there with both feet on the floor. Instead, prop one foot up on a low stool or a phone book.

– Get sole-savvy. Wear low, comfortable shoes with shock-absorbing rubber or crepe soles. Good walking shoes soften the impact as you walk. Ladies, no high-heels allowed. Men, no walking around in cowboy boots that have riding heels. You may want to give Vibram Five Fingers running/walking/exercise shoes a serious try as they have been shown to help folks with back pain. Check out http://www.vibramfivefingers.com

– Tighten your abs. These core muscles are nature’s girdle, providing the support and strength you need to prevent back injuries. Doing Pilates or crunches or holding a push-up position on your elbows will do the trick.
– Get up and move. Take activity breaks from your computer every 30 minutes to prevent stiffness. Prop your feet on the desk (knees higher than your hips).

– Be careful about heavy lifting. Never bend over to pick up something weighty. Squat down, knees bent, back straight. To lift, tighten your abs, push up with your legs. Better yet, ask friends to help.
Assume the best sleep position. For minimal back strain, lie on your side, legs comfortably bent, with a pillow between your knees that brings your knees parallel to each other. Can’t sleep unless you’re lying on your back? Place a pillow beneath your knees.

Savings is making provision for tomorrow, debt is presumption upon tomorrow.” So, you have arrived at a new level of financial security; what do you do? BUDGET (verb)! As a wise man, set aside (savings) for the provision of tomorrow so that the presumption of receiving resources tomorrow does not overtake you and leave you the fool. You have become a disciple of budgeting, now it is time to be disciplined in your budget. Store up in time of plenty, so that you will have in time of lack. That’s Biblical Stewardship.

Yesterday I got two cards of encouragement in the mail one from Karen and the other from Wannel Pate! I so much appreciate the encouragement, we all need encouragement from each other!

I was asked yesterday by a bank teller in her early 20’s why I thought why so many kid’s and families are struggling. One key reason is that there is not a man in the house to offer Godly encouragement! There maybe a man in the house, but not a Godly man! Too many children have grown up and are growing up without a Kingdom Man! Godly men can turn this World around for Jesus! I will die saying that!

Tony Evans says:

Men, we serve in a Kingdom. God is our King. Christ is our head, our leader. And He has asked us to stand fast. He has asked us to give our individual allegiance to Christ’s command through His headship over our lives, regardless of the cost. It is our responsibility as men to see it that those under our care—-those who depend on us and those within our realm of influence——have every opportunity possible for protection, provision, and safety. If we don’t give that to them, not only will they end up suffering, but others will suffer too.

It becomes generational!

I remember when Chuck Colson was here in Albuquerque for the Biblical Worldview Conference and he said, “If we could have conferences like this all over America we could turn this Country of ours around!”

THE STORY OF EDITH BURNS…

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio , Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.

One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns. When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.

Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: “Hello, my name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?” Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.

Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly . Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure.

Edith began by saying, “My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?”

Beverly said, “Why yes I do.”

Edith said, “Well, what do you believe about Easter?”

Beverly said, “Well, it’s all about egg hunts, going to church, and dressing up.” Edith kept pressing her about the real meaning of Easter, and finally led her to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Phillips said, ” Beverly , don’t call Edith into the office quite yet. I believe there is another delivery taking place in the waiting room.

After being called back in the doctor’s office, Edith sat down and when she took a look at the doctor she said, “Dr. Will, why are you so sad? Are you reading your Bible? Are you praying?”

Dr. Phillips said gently, “Edith, I’m the doctor and you’re the patient.” With a heavy heart he said, “Your lab report came back and it says you have cancer, and Edith, you’re not going to live very long.”

Edith said, “Why Will Phillips, shame on you. Why are you so sad? Do you think God makes mistakes? You have just told me I’m going to see my precious Lord Jesus, my husband, and my friends. You have just
Told me that I am going to celebrate Easter forever, and here you are having difficulty giving me my ticket!”

Dr. Phillips thought to himself, “What a magnificent woman this Edith Burns is!”

Edith continued coming to Dr. Phillips. Christmas came and the office was closed through January 3rd. On the day the office opened, Edith did not show up. Later that afternoon, Edith called Dr. Phillips and said she would have to be moving her story to the hospital and said, “Will, I’m very near home, so would you make sure that they put women in here next to me in my room who need to know about Easter.”

Well, they did just that and women began to come in and share that room with Edith. Many women were saved. Everybody on that floor from staff to patients were so excited about Edith, that they started calling her Edith Easter; that is everyone except Phyllis Cross, the head nurse.

Phyllis made it plain that she wanted nothing to do with Edith because she was a “religious nut”. She had been a nurse in an army hospital. She had seen it all and heard it all. She was the original G.I. Jane. She had been married three times, she was hard, cold, and did everything by the book.

One morning the two nurses who were to attend to Edith were sick. Edith had the flu and Phyllis Cross had to go in and give her a shot.

When she walked in, Edith had a big smile on her face and said, “Phyllis, God loves you and I love you, and I have been praying for you.”

Phyllis Cross said, “Well, you can quit praying for me, it won’t work.. I’m not interested.”

Edith said, “Well, I will pray and I have asked God not to let me go home until you come into the family.”

Phyllis Cross said, “Then you will never die because that will never happen,” and curtly walked out of the room.

Every day Phyllis Cross would walk into the room and Edith would say, “God loves you Phyllis and I love you, and I’m praying for you.”

One day Phyllis Cross said she was literally drawn to Edith’s room like a magnet would draw iron. She sat down on the bed and Edith said, “I’m so glad you have come, because God told me that today is your special day”

Phyllis Cross said, “Edith, you have asked everybody here the question, “Do you believe in Easter but you have never asked me.”

Edith said, “Phyllis, I wanted to many times, but God told me to wait until you asked, and now that you have asked.” Edith Burns took her Bible and shared with Phyllis Cross the Easter Story of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Edith said, “Phyllis, do you believe in Easter? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is alive and that He wants to live in your heart?”

Phyllis Cross said, “Oh I want to believe that with all of my heart, and I do want Jesus in my life “Right there, Phyllis Cross prayed and invited Jesus Christ into her heart. For the first time Phyllis Cross did not walk out of a hospital room, she was carried out on the wings of angels.

Two days later, Phyllis Cross came in and Edith said, “Do you know what day it is?” Phyllis Cross said, “Why Edith, it’s Good Friday.”

Edith said, “Oh, no, for you every day is Easter. Happy Easter Phyllis!”

Two days later, on Easter Sunday, Phyllis Cross came into work, did some of her duties and then went down to the flower shop and got some Easter lilies because she wanted to go up to see Edith and give her some Easter lilies and wish her a Happy Easter.

When she walked into Edith’s room, Edith was in bed. That big black Bible was on her lap. Her hands were in that Bible. There was a sweet smile on her face. When Phyllis Cross went to pick up Edith’s hand, she realized Edith was dead. Her left hand was on John 14: “In my Father’s house are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

Her right hand was on Revelation 21:4, “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, there shall be no more death nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Phyllis Cross took one look at that dead body, and then lifted her face toward heaven, and with tears streaming down her cheeks, said, “Happy Easter, Edith – Happy Easter!”

Phyllis Cross left Edith’s body, walked out of the room, and over to a table where two student nurses were sitting. She said, “My name is Phyllis Cross. Do you believe in Easter?”

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: ‘Daddy, may I ask you a question?’
DAD: ‘Yeah sure, what it is?’ replied the man.
SON: ‘Daddy, how much do you make an hour?’
DAD: ‘That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?’ the man said angrily.
SON: ‘I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?’
DAD: ‘If you must know, I make $50 an hour.’
SON: ‘Oh,’ the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: ‘Daddy, may I please borrow $25?’

The father was furious, ‘If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don’t work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.’ The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy’s questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door. ‘Are you asleep, son?’ He asked. ‘No daddy, I’m awake,’ replied the boy. ‘I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier’ said the man ‘It’s been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here’s the $25 you asked for.’
The little boy sat straight up, smiling. ‘Oh, thank you daddy!’ He yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father. ‘Why do you want more money if you already have some?’ the father grumbled. Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,’ the little boy replied. ‘Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.’
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It’s just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time s lip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

The brightness of his eyes and clothing impressed me as a man of wealth and stature. He got married to his childhood girlfriend when she was 16 and he was 17. They were married 63 years. She died quietly in bed beside him 13 years ago as they slept. He reads the Bible daily and attends church every Sunday. All their children are Christian. He greatly inspired and encouraged me today. We hope to meet again. The Lord says, “Show yourself friendly and new and old friends will gather to you like a magnet. Encourage and inspire them in the Lord with your testimony of faith.”

April 10, 2012. Just as a parent often gives reminders to their child on proper conduct and correct behavior, so too will I. Over and over again, you can easily notice and perceive how kids quickly point their finger at someone else for being unfair. They often cannot be reasoned with or will not act logically or rationally. You easily see the skewed conduct among little ones but cannot see the same actions in yourself. People deceived don’t recognize their own misconduct. Don’t war within yourself. Begin looking at troubling situations from outside the box. See and hear who your battle is truly against. Open your eyes and ears to your own improper actions.

Walk it Off!
Walking does your body a world of wonders: It improves your mood, flattens your belly, reduces body fat, and improves cholesterol. But it does something else, too: Walking reduces your risk for diabetes.

That’s right. Take 10,000 steps a day (5 days a week) and you’ll lower your diabetes risk three times more than if you walk only 3,000 steps a day. Learn how walking lowers your risk for diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, and more.

You’re probably already logging about 5,000 steps. Even sedentary folks rack up about 3,000 (1.5 miles). Here are easy ways to walk more steps:

Track how far you walk. You’ll be amazed at how a pedometer motivates you to walk even more. Pick a model with an easy-to-read display, a sturdy clip, and a loop-on “leash.” (It’s easy to lose!)

Buy good walking shoes. Running or walking shoes are fine as long as they keep your ankles stable. Running shoes have more cushion in the heels; walking shoes, more arch support. For the comfiest fit, shop in the afternoon, when your feet are slightly swollen.

Sit less, walk more. Walk — don’t sit — while you talk on the phone. Also, put an exercise machine in front of every TV and a portable pedal machine under your desk at work.

Walk farther each week. Increase your steps 10% a week. Even if you begin walking at 3,000 steps, in less than 6 months you’ll be up to 10,000.

“Walking saved my life.” So say many walking enthusiasts who picked up the habit and as a result either reduced their risk of disease, lost weight, beat depression, or enjoyed countless other major health rewards.

Although you may not be surprised to know that walking is considered a superior health habit, it might surprise you to learn just how much research has confirmed the far-reaching and diverse health benefits that regular walkers experience.

Some doctors, including me, and scientists even believe that walking regularly can reverse illness and aging, making the simple act of walking quite possibly the most underrated prescription for good health.

Here’s a list of health wishes that walking can fulfill for you

1. I wish I had more energy.
A short, brisk walk has both a calming and an energizing effect, according to research. And walking may help you feel more alert and well-rested because of its ability to improve the quality of your sleep. Walking at a moderate pace later in the day can help encourage deep, restful sleep. Finally, the mood boost you experience from walking may further enhance your energy levels.

Walk toward a good night’s sleep. In a study, people who walked more than six blocks per day reduced their sleep problems by one third. Walking at a brisk pace cut their sleep problems in half.

2. I wish I could think more clearly.
Need to sort out some things in your head? Few activities help improve your perspective as quickly as a brisk walk, which will boost circulation in all parts of the body, including your brain.

Some research has also shown that walking is associated with less cognitive decline and a reduced risk of dementia later in life.

In addition to improving cognitive function, walking regularly can help you handle stressful situations and help you remain in control of your emotions, which clears the path for straight thinking.

3. I wish I could protect myself from my parents’ diseases.
Your genetics determine only a small part of your health profile. Research shows it’s how you live your life that really counts, and walking regularly can prevent and improve many serious chronic diseases.

Here is a short list of ways that walking can reduce the impacts of disease. Moderately intense activities such as walking can:

– Reduce cardiovascular disease by as much as 30%–50
– Decrease osteoarthritis pain and improve stability, endurance, and agility
– Reduce the risk of colon cancer and possibly breast cancer
– Protect against diabetes in high-risk people and lower blood glucose and improve insulin action in diabetics
– Lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart attack

4. I wish I could lose weight.
Although you might think that losing weight is the only way to enjoy an improved health profile, the truth is that regular walkers may not have to worry quite as much about what the scale says. Studies show that thin, sedentary people may have more markers of heart disease risk than overweight people who exercise regularly.

Nonetheless, losing weight is a great way to improve your health profile, and walking can help you accomplish this goal. Brisk walking will increase the number of calories you burn each day and can boost your muscle mass, which in turn helps your body burn more calories throughout the day, not just while you are exercising.

5. I wish I felt happier in general.
Protecting and nurturing your mental health is an important part of overall wellness, and studies show that brisk walking regularly has the ability to lower your stress levels. Also, studies show that aerobic exercise such as walking may bring long-term benefits to your mental disposition by warding off both depression and anxiety.

Steps Toward Better Health
No other prescription for your health is as free and easy as walking. It can even equal more vigorous forms of exercise in terms of its ability to improve your health profile. And it’s easier on your body, especially your joints, than activities such as running.

Don’t think you have the time to walk? Just take a short walk in the morning and another at lunch or after work. Physical activity can be accumulated over the course of a day rather than all in one session, and it doesn’t have to result in weight loss to have health benefits.

So start where you are, and gradually increase the amount of time you spend walking. You’ll be granting yourself some very key health wishes in the process.

I do not watch many movies, because there are not that many good ones! But yesterday we watched the “War Horse” A MUST FOR YOU! A story about love and loyalty! One of the best movies I have ever seen in my life, a story about a boy, turned man and Soldier and his horse!

This day (Yesterday) 20 years ago my Hero and Dad Wally Moede passed on suddenly at 3am Easter Morning in Windom, Minn at the home I was raised in. Brother Daryl tried giving Dad CPR, but Dad had passed before he hit the floor. As Dad took his last breath, he said, “Ruthie” My Mom’s name, as she was right beside him. They where married 49 years, Dad was just 64 and has just retired that week. Pastor Zeh showed up at the house with an Easter Lilly for Mom around 5am and Mom put it on the table by the big picture window and as the sun rose, one of the Lillie’s opened up! That is the Easter Miracle that took place among the great, great sadness in the Moede home that day, that Dad was received into heaven on Resurrection Sunday, and God used Pastor Zeh and that Easter Lilly to show us so

My testimony until the day I pass to heaven is that God does miracles to this day…..I am seeing them more and more as I Pastor………..many, by people who believe and receive! Standing up from a wheelchair and walking, from being in a coma, near death to making the honor roll in school, to getting the death sentence of cancer to being healed, to going know where in life to succeeding in life……..all because People prayed to our LORD and we anointed with oil (James 5) and people gathered in Belief in God and in agreement of healing and it was received by the hurting one. Trust in the Lord, and do good…And He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4 AMEN! God is still in the miracle making business! AMEN AMEN!

Tony Evans states and I throw in my two cents!: When we look around our world today, we can see a lot of wear and tear. (AMEN TONY! AND I SEE IT ON THE FACES OF MANY!) There is a lot of wear and tear on women who are being abused or neglected. There is a lot of wear and tear on children who are being forgotten, misled, or turned lose. There is a lot of wear and tear on churches that split, sit stagnant, or fail to develop men who grasp the abundant life or the high call to discipleship. There is a lot of wear and tear in our communities and our nation as the economic, educational, racial, criminal, social, and health care wars dismantle our society.
Yet we cannot resolve any of these issues without first addressing the root causes!
The Church must address these and not hide from them!
One of the major causes of this crises we are facing today is that in so many areas is that men are not aligning themselves with the purposes of God’s Kingdom! Until that alignment is made right, wear and tear will only perpetuate itself.
There are only two answers, Gods and Mans, which one will you follow?
The answer is not in Politics, it is in the Bible. AMEN!

I will not say someone is stronger than cancer. That implies that the people that are fighting the hardest are somehow weaker than cancer. I have never seen anyone outside of a cancer warrior display the strength it takes to struggle for life against a disease that wreaks so much damage. everyone who fights cancer is strong. Those who do not survive in this world are perhaps the strongest of all.

Very humbled Saturday praying over the poorest of the poor at Albuquerque Rescue Mission, Thank you Jannetta LaMort for this opportunity. Many came to the Foot Washing, I was so moved by this time. To think we have 7,000 homeless people in Albuquerque, some even put it over 12,000…I weep this morning…..I walked the streets around the Mission and sat and talked…..and prayed…….with many……Why do I tell you this? too encourage us all to serve God’s people…….to meet people where they are at. One man said to me, “You know you are in a bad part of town with dangerous people on the street!”Many people showed up yesterday at the Mission to serve! God is with us all to serve each other, whether it’s a bottle of water or listening to a man that has a severe mental illness. Let us all soften our hearts toward the homeless, on Resurrection Sunday….Let us all meet people for Jesus Christ wherever they are at and whoever they are. Let us share with the miracle that took place this day.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — California artist Thomas Kinkade, whose brushwork paintings of idyllic landscapes, cottages and churches were big sellers for dealers across the country, died Friday, a family spokesman said.
Kinkade, 54, died at his home in Los Gatos in the San Francisco Bay Area of what appeared to be natural causes, David Satterfield said.
Kinkade’s sentimental paintings, with their scenes of cottages, country gardens and churches in dewy morning light, were beloved by middlebrow America but reviled by the art establishment.
The paintings generally depict tranquil scenes with lush landscaping and streams running nearby. Many contain images from Bible passages.
Kinkade, a self-described devout Christian, claimed to be the nation’s most collected living artist. His paintings and spin-off products were said to fetch some $100 million a year in sales, and to be in 10 million homes in the United States.
“I’m a warrior for light,” he told the San Jose Mercury News in 2002, in reference to his technical skills but also the medieval practice of using light to symbolize the divine. “With whatever talent and resources I have, I’m trying to bring light to penetrate the darkness many people feel.”
Before Kinkade’s Media Arts Group went private in the middle of the past decade, the company took in $32 million per quarter from 4,500 dealers across the country 10 years ago, according to the Mercury News. The cost of his paintings range from hundreds of dollars to more than $10,000.

Newsman Mike Wallace also passed on this weekend at age 93.

Eating Flavonoids Protects Men against Parkinson’s Disease

Men who eat flavonoid-rich foods such as berries, tea, apples and red wine significantly reduce their risk of developing Parkinson’s disease, according to new research by Harvard University and the University of East Anglia.

Published in the journal Neurology (University of East Anglia, “Eating flavonoids protects men against Parkinson’s disease, study finds.” ScienceDaily, 4 Apr. 2012. Web. 5 Apr. 2012) the findings add to the growing body of evidence that regular consumption of some flavonoids can have a marked effect on human health. Recent studies have shown that these compounds can offer protection against a wide range of diseases including heart disease, hypertension, some cancers and dementia.

This latest study is the first study in humans to show that flavonoids can protect neurons against diseases of the brain such as Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s disease is the most common of the major movement disorders, a category of conditions in which a malfunction in the nervous system affects communication between the brain and the muscles. Other common movement disorders include dystonia, characterized by involuntary muscle spasms, and essential tremor, a neurological condition in which part of the body shakes or trembles.

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic, progressive neurological disorder that was called “shaking palsy” when it was first described by James Parkinson in 1817. The symptoms include tremor, stiffness, difficulty moving, and problems with walking and balance. Parkinson’s disease may be difficult to diagnose in the early stages, because the symptoms begin gradually and progress over time.

There isn’t a cure for Parkinson’s, but treatments exist to help control symptoms. People with the condition can live a normal life span, although they may develop complications such as pneumonia in the later stages and are at heightened risk of falling or choking.

Around 130,000 men and women took part in the research. More than 800 had developed Parkinson’s disease within 20 years of follow-up. After a detailed analysis of their diets and adjusting for age and lifestyle, male participants who ate the most flavonoids were shown to be 40 per cent less likely to develop the disease than those who ate the least. No similar link was found for total flavonoid intake in women.

The research was led by Dr. Xiang Gao of Harvard School of Public Health in collaboration with Prof Aedin Cassidy of the Department of Nutrition, Norwich Medical School at UEA.

“These exciting findings provide further confirmation that regular consumption of flavonoids can have potential health benefits,” said Prof Cassidy.

“This is the first study in humans to look at the associations between the range of flavonoids in the diet and the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease and our findings suggest that a sub-class of flavonoids called anthocyanins may have neuroprotective effects.”

Prof Gao said: “Interestingly, anthocyanins and berry fruits, which are rich in anthocyanins, seem to be associated with a lower risk of Parkinson’s disease in pooled analyses. Participants who consumed one or more portions of berry fruits each week were around 25 per cent less likely to develop Parkinson’s disease, relative to those who did not eat berry fruits. Given the other potential health effects of berry fruits, such as lowering risk of hypertension as reported in our previous studies, it is good to regularly add these fruits to your diet.”

Flavonoids are a group of naturally occurring, bioactive compounds found in many plant-based foods and drinks. In this study the main protective effect was from higher intake of anthocyanins, which are present in berries and other fruits and vegetables including aubergines (eggplants), blackcurrants and blackberries. Those who consumed the most anthocyanins had a 24 per cent reduction in risk of developing Parkinson’s disease and strawberries and blueberries were the top two sources in the US diet.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological condition affecting one in 500 people, which equates to 127,000 people in the UK. There are few effective drug therapies available. Parkinson’s affects at least 500,000 people in the United States, and some estimates put the number much higher; the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation estimates that as many as 1 million people are affected. Some 50,000 new cases are diagnosed each year, a number that is expected to rise as the population ages. Most cases begin between the ages of 50 and 65, with the average age of onset about 60—though younger people are affected, too.

Dr Kieran Breen, director of research at Parkinson’s UK said: “This study raises lots of interesting questions about how diet may influence our risk of Parkinson’s and we welcome any new research that could potentially lead to prevention.”
