Dear KKIM Family,

Good Morning My Dear friends, Thanks for stopping by for a CUP! I just love being with you each morning! The highlights for me are praying over you and writing to you each day, Doing my Radio program, and coming home to Sharon and the doggies at the end of the day!

We sure have enjoyed Gretchen being here this week. She is done with School and heads this weekend to Mule Shoe, Texas to work this summer at the Wild Life Refuge there. Michael started a new job in Denver as a Computer Tech with Dish Network and Lars will be coming home here at the end of the week. Greg and his fiance Natasha are staying with us for a couple of days! We are blessed that the kids want to come home now and then!!

The LORD is doing a great work in our Family! Thank YOU LORD!

I have been asked by the largest Christian Advertising Agency, Ambassador Advertising, to write a few words on Father’s Day!! It’s for their National Publication!!! Praise God for this OPEN DOOR for GOD’S GLORY ALONE! I love the folks at Ambassador and thank them for this opportunity!

I am also finishing my column for the www.windomnews.com today on Graduation. I thank Dave and Rahn for the opportunity to share with my hometown! It has been a thrill to reestablish relationships through the Windom Paper! This has allowed me to kind of pay back my hometown for all it did for me!

Last night I took a hard it ball to the jaw! Playing second base the ball took a bad hop and struck me in the lower left jaw! PRAISE GOD, NO Breaks, no swelling…………Thank YOU LORD! We got beat last night however!

I thank the LORD for the amazing health he has given me! The other team could not believe that I am 56 years old!

Let us continue to pray for Cathy, her shoulder surgery went well, but was in much pain afterwards. I prayed with her husband to be, Ernie, on the phone last night.

I pray you heard last nights radio program with Dear, Dear friend Pastor Larry Moss! Great to have him with us! That Man has provided me with so much Godly knowledge! Thank YOU LORD!

As we learn to “delight in the Lord”, and as we begin to actually DO IT, our hearts desires change from the things of this world to the things that honor God.

This passage is often misused, mis-quoted and misunderstood.

Delight in Him and you will always be fulfilled!

I have loved that verse (Psalm 37:4) for years.

If you take delight in the Lord, then your heart desires Him.

So He will give you the desires of your heart – Himself!

Before we repent of our sins and ask Jesus to come into our hearts we are of the world, seeking only what makes us happy and doing only what we choose to do. After Christ becomes Lord of our lives the desires of heart change so dramatically. We are filled with a love beyond comprehension and long only to please the one who died for us to set us free. We delight in His word and begin to hide it in our hearts. We give all praise and glory unto Him who loved us so much that He gave His life on Calvary so we could spend eternity with Him. The desire He puts in our hearts are to do all His word tells us to do, including following the ten commandments and loving one another. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”. Romans 8:1
We no longer live as we did. We can turn every need or concern over to God and He will take care of it in His perfect timing.

I just want to share once again what I have been led to do and say in everything I do.

Be Christ Like, that is my hearts desire in everything I do and say, and that is the

blessing that is on my heart, to be Christ Like, Paul writes in no uncertian terms

“We make it our aim…to be well pleasing to Him” 2 Cor 5:9

For me to be able to be Christ Like, is worth everything to me, more than the

riches of the world.

In the Message Bible Pauls word’s are put this way……”Cheerfully pleasing God is

the main thing, and that’s what we aim to do, regardless of our conditions.”

I love the words main thing! This should be our motivation in the life of every one

of us. First things first.

You Light Up Our Life!

For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; the Lord my God illumines my darkness.” Psalms 18:28 (Amplified Bible)
What an awesome verse! When I read this verse today, there was such a presence of the Lord. That He is making me to finally realize that He is the light of my life.
It is He that leads us through the valleys. That He is the light, the one that prepares the pathway before us so that we can see that He is our sole source.
That He will finish that which He has begun in us. What hope there is in this simple verse. It should make us rejoice, to leap with joy. For He will, not maybe, light the lamp, He will keep the flame burning.
Oh, the wick will need trimmed at times and the oil replenished but that is where our part comes in as we stay focused on Him. To allow Him to replenish us each day with fresh oil, fresh manna, that yesterday is gone and tomorrow is yet to arrive.
That each day as we come before our Father we draw strength from Him. We are refilled, replenished. Given what is needed for the day to enable us to walk that path that is set before us.
He will illuminate us. Allow us to see what is needed. What we need to do. To be changed by His word, by His spirit. That He will enlighten our darkness so that we do not have to stumble but rather, He lights the path before us, as we are focused on Him.
He exposes the cracks, the rocks, the things that are in our path as we walk with Him.He so wants us to realize the reality of who He is. That He is Lord. That He takes delight in us when we come into His presence.
He truly delights in us when we spend time with Him. Is that not awesome! That the creator of Heaven takes pleasure in spending time with you and I.
That we each are unique, created by Him for a time such as this and it is only as we begin to realize this, that we begin to understand, that as we go through the valleys of life, as well as the mountain tops, we are brought into His purpose, as we take the focus from us to Him.
Only then will we begin to see. There is nothing that we have gone through that can’t be used to bring glory to the Lord and we can be used as that lamp that shines brightly in the midst of the darkness and allows the Christ within to shine forth and bring hope to others.
When that light shines forth, it will draw others to want to know more about our Lord, that they will see it is a reality, not a theory and desire to know the giver of life and light. Then we indeed will be able to say, “Lord, You light up my life, you give me hope and you make my path clear in the midst of darkness.”

May 15, 2012. Why are you in a dither? It’s not good for your health to worry. When the problem first occurs, your energy gets into ultra-high gear and later comes crashing down. I know you have seen many around you worrying. Just like it was not good for you to see them, it is not good for those around you to see you worrying. Haven’t I always brought you through in the past? It has not been as bad as you thought when you got on the other side of the problem, has it? The simple solution is to tell Me about the problem, listen and obey then lay back and rest in peace.

May 15, 2012. Growing up on a farm in Tennessee, I was always fascinated with our livestock and their grazing patterns. Though there was plenty of green pasture for the taking, some would stick their heads through the barbed-wire fence looking for better grass to eat. They would strain so hard to get the seemingly better grass. The Lord says, “Be satisfied within the pasture where I have placed you. I am your Shepherd and you are the sheep of My pasture. Rest assured that I am keeping your best interest in mind in where I have placed you. Eat and be satisfied in My fields of abundant provision for you.”

We also pray this morning for Cathy who is undergoing shoulder surgery this morning and Pam who has been ill. We pray healing on Cathy and Pam in Jesus name AMEN!

UPDATE: Becky Franks is home from the hospital after surgery but still in much pain. Please continue to pray for healing for Becky and for Pastor Ray, we pray super natural strength and peace during this time.

We also pray for Pastor Paul Holt and his wife Jo, they are stranded in Los Lunas as their truck broke down. Pastor Jim Montoya is helping them. Paul and Jo are trying to get back home to Magdalena and go to work. yesterday a tornado touched down near Magdalena, no injuries reported.

Officials report a tornado touched down south of Magdalena as strong storms slammed the Land of Enchantment yesterday. Magdalena Marshal Larry Cearley says the twister moved across the ground for ten minutes and came within a half-mile of homes while ripping up trees and tearing down fences. Officials reports no injuries from the tempest.

Do you equate success with wealth, acclaim, and power? If we measured by these standards, then Jesus, who was rejected by His community and didn’t even have a house of His own, was a failure. But, of course, we know that’s not the case. So God must use something other than these worldly goals to define success. In fact, Scripture is clear that Jesus Christ is our example–we should strive to be like Him.

So, what exactly was our Savior’s mission? In today’s passage, we see the answer through His actions: He came to serve. The disciples, wanting recognition and reward, were arguing about who’d be the greatest in heaven. In contrast, Jesus took off His outer garment and performed the task of the lowliest servant: He washed the dirty feet of His followers. The next day, Almighty God was crucified by His own creation. In allowing this, He offered salvation to all–even those who nailed Him to a cross.

Jesus deserved glory but chose sacrifice and pain. And He asks that we follow His example of service. With the exception of Judas, His disciples obeyed. In fact, they all faced great difficulty and most died brutal deaths because of their faith. But they willingly walked the path of humility because of what Jesus had taught them: “The last shall be first, and the first last” (Matt. 20:16).

How do you spend your resources and time? And which topics dominate your thoughts and conversation? These are a few indicators of the driving goals in your life. You may long for worldly recognition, but God has a higher calling for His children. Ask Him to foster a servant’s attitude in your heart.

May 12, 2012. Good things are on the horizon. It is a time of expectations in the Lord. What has been next to impossible before will begin to be possible and likely. I am the God of increase. In all I do, I seek increase for My children. This is also the desire of your heart, to bless and give to those you love the most. Turn loose now of the strings of poverty thinking. You have been thinking of lack far more than thinking increase and plenty. Years ago you began to pray for your needs to be met with a little left over. Now I want you to pray for and begin to claim increase and overflowing. Let your giving match your expectation of Me. You house is about to be enlarged. Prepare for it.

Our prayer is that you had a very blessed Mother’s Day weekend! AMEN!

I cooked on the grill for Sharon Saturday, BBQ Chicken, and then took her up to Santa Fe for brunch yesterday. Gretchen is the only child to be able to be with us for Mother’s Day, but we had an AWESOME time in our LORD! I also fired up the grill last night!!!

There is so much Peace in our house…….I thank the Lord for that……..we have challenges, many, just like everyone else, but we have the Peace of the Lord. One of the things that drives me is to tell my story to many is what Jesus Christ has done and is doing in my life.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

God said to to Paul, “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Once Paul realized this, he happily declared, “I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power (grace) may rest on me.” 2 Cor 12:9

The rest of my life and Sharon’s, will be the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

With great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. Acts 4:33

Do you notice that in this scripture great power is associated with great grace being ascribed as God’s empowerment to advance the Kingdom!

Grace is not only the gift of forgiveness, His imparted nature, or empowerment to live a holy life; it is also God’s empowerment to advance the Kingdom! It’s God’s empowerment to do what Jesus did——and even greater works. It’s the empowerment to live extraordinary in the Lord!

You are in Christ Jesus, who became for us…….righteousness. 1 Cor 1:30

Because of what Jesus did for us, we are now acceptable to God in every way. Again this refers to our justification, not to our walk with holiness. Right standing with God has nothing to do with our effort but is based on the amazing work of God through Christ! It’s very sad to hear Christians refer to themselves as lowly worms or miserable sinners who have just been forgiven.

It breaks my heart to hear someone speak in this manner when such a great price was paid for us not to only be forgiven and delivered but also to be re-created in the image and likeness of Jesus Christ!!!

First and foremost, the Kingdom within speaks of the divine nature, which empowers us TO LIVE HOLY AND FRUITFUL IN THIS PRESENT WORLD FOR JESUS CHRIST!!!! Problem is in these times many so called Christians have taken God’s Word and defined Holy and Fruitful in their own way!!! The Bible is Holy, complete!

This POWER is most evident in the life of Jesus

HE showed how humankind was created to live—-not bound to the burning desires of fallen flesh, but motivated by righteousness, propelled by the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT in love, joy, and peace—-abounding in forgiveness, healing, restoration, and lifting others to the HIGHER LIFE!!! This is the Kingdom; it’s not to only live Holy but also to bring Heaven’s lifestyle to our lost and dying world. AMEN! That is the Mission of For God’s Glory Alone Ministries! AMEN! Please keep us in your prayers as we walk this road! AMEN!

The LORD continues to show me not only is the secular world lost, much of the Church is walking down that dead end road!

I will say this…….I thank the LORD for all HE has done in my life…….all HIS promises in HIS WORD and my prayer is that I will grow even closer to HIM and walk with HIM so close my remaining days and serve HIM as HE would want me to, that is the desire of my heart. Lord, there are times when the hurt placed on me by others becomes too much and I want to see the other person pay for the hurt they have caused me. I get stuck thinking about this and I find myself unable to move forward in a healthy and full way. Father, I turn my hurt over to You so I can start to move forward towards a new day and You can deal with those that have hurt me as You, only in Your judgement, see fit. Amen.

May 14, 2012. On my desk is a figurine from olive wood skillfully hand carved into a likeness of Joshua and Caleb. They are carrying on their shoulders a long rod with a huge pod of grapes from the Promised Land. Joshua was appointed by God to restart God’s vision of a land filled with milk and honey. But this time, the new “startup” was to be led by Joshua because Moses was already dead. This is a day for re-starting (when God is ready) the vision of “Revelation of God’s Mysteries and Truth.” The vision of God never dies. Many battles lie ahead. Giants populate the land and must be defeated. Gathering at Shiloh with Joshua to make plans for war is essential. The enemy is defeated and you can gather the spoils if you participate with Me. You have been waiting long enough. It is time to “start up” and head out. Will you gather at spiritual Shiloh with us? What will you sacrifice for the vision?

May 14, 2012. You’ve had a hard time making up your mind. You started going in several different directions, but each one just wasn’t right and you knew it. You had to choose for time’s sake and at first all was going so smooth and easy. Then there was the wall. The wall seemed to rise up out of nowhere. It came as a surprise. You have asked Me for wisdom for years and acted on what I said. So now slow down, continue asking and continue listening. You know from past experiences that I know what to do and I will tell you. Heart-healthy foods that lower blood pressure, reduce symptoms of plaque, and improve cardio fitness

The foods you eat bring pleasure to your palate and provide your body with powerful healing substances. Most people probably never consider that their morning grapefruit protects their blood vessels or that eating a handful of raw almonds daily can protect them from cancer. Certain heart-healthy foods have a reputation as natural cures to lower blood pressure, reduce symptoms of plaque and improve cardio fitness.

Animal proteins
Animal proteins like fresh fish and seafood are high in omega 3 oils, monounsaturated fats and calcium; all of these are helpful in reducing the risk of heart attack and managing high blood pressure problems. Be picky…choose meats that are grass fed and free from chemicals.

Olive oil
Studies of women with high blood pressure who were placed on a diet rich in olive oil for one month showed a marked reduction in their blood pressure levels.

Raw milk cheese
Research indicates that people who have adequate calcium consumption tend to have more luck controlling their blood pressure levels. Raw milk cheeses are high in calcium and low in sodium, making them an excellent food to help with high blood pressure problems.

Vegetables
Corn is an excellent source of folic acid and vitamin B, which protect the arteries and reduce atherosclerosis.

Onions and avocados prevent LDL or bad cholesterol from damaging blood vessel walls.

Tomatoes are high in lycopene, a potent antioxidant that has produced significant results in lowering blood pressure in patients participating in an Israeli study conducted in 2006.

Garlic’s natural anti-inflammatory properties may prevent blood clots and improve overall cardio fitness.

Celery is high in vital nutrients and minerals such as potassium, magnesium and calcium, all necessary components in foods that lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart attack. Eating the entire plant benefits the cardiovascular system.

Choose only organic vegetables and fruits to avoid pesticides and hidden genetically modified plants that may not benefit your heart or your health.

Fresh fruits
Loaded with pectin, a natural fiber that binds to cholesterol and toxins in the blood, apples can clear the blood and lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels as much as 10 percent over a six-week period, notes Applegate.

Oranges and lemons are high in potassium and fruit pectin. Both aid the body’s regulation of blood pressure and reduce cholesterol plaque from arteries.

Grapefruit supplies vitamin C, pectin, folic acid and lycopene, which help prevent symptoms of plaque by flushing LDL cholesterol from arteries and lessen high blood pressure problems.

Beans, legumes and whole grains
Both soluble and insoluble fibers are important for maintaining arterial integrity and controlling high blood pressure problems. Most beans provide soluble fiber, which is high in vitamin B and folic acid helping to reduce plaque and lower blood pressure. Whole grains like oats and oat bran flush unhealthy plaque from the system further protecting against the risk of heart attack and improving cardio fitness.

Chocolate

God Bless you Jerry and Kelly, and Happy Mothers Day to Kelly and all the Mother’s out there. My Mom Ruth was called home to Heaven in 1995. Some where I have a picture of me that my Dad took of me running home from School with a handful of dandelions, and I had the biggest smile on my face as I picked them for my Mom!!!! I will always remember my Mom as always working for us kids and Dad. Either cooking, washing, shopping at the store, working as Cook at the School, always taking care of someone or something, and doing it in such a gentle way. Mom stood by us kids no matter what. Her Bible was one of the most marked up Bibles I have ever seen, verses underlined circled, notes….etc.She read that Bible and used God’s Word to carry out her life on this earth. One of the reasons I am at where I am today is because of the model my Mom set for me, a Christian role Model. I was blessed by Mom and Grandma Caraway who told me in 1972 that I would be a Preacher someday! YES! AMEN to that! Grandma Moede passed onto heaven when I was in Kindergarten, but I remember sitting on her lap and I can still feel her love to this day. You see, by having the childhood I had, I want to share that goodness with all. God has called me to minister to Children that do not have a Mom present in the house or a Dad in the House, or children that have been abused by their Mother or Dad. God has also called me to Minister to the single Parent, The Mom who is all alone this weekend. The past 2 weeks I have been counseling a lady in her 40’s who was abused by her Dad, and the wounds are still fresh this day as her Dad was in the hospital and she was battling whether to call him and say she forgives him. My Mom and Grandma’s would circle this lady and give her a hug and say to her, I love you and so does Jesus! That is the love that we need to model and share with the World, the Love of Jesus Christ!

ps…….To this day I carry had written letters that I received from Mom over the years…..her beautiful hand writing, which I did not inherit! LOL LOL, But the love she showed me through her letters, wherever I was working in radio, in Montana, North Dakota, Indiana, South Dakota……she always was putting her love for me in words……..you see this was before email!!!!

This day I have Sharon who models to to the kid’s all the time………and models that love to me…….showing me and the kid’s a Godly love, she is a bright light in the family, helping guide me and the kids in a Godly way. She does the same as a nurse at the Hospital..she is God’s nurse here on earth! AMEN!

If you want to add a special touch to your Mother’s Day card or letter this year, consider including a meaningful passage from scripture about what it means to be a mother and the impact mothers can have on our lives. While the Bible is full of references to motherhood, the following ten verses are my favorites*.

1. Hebrews 12:11: “All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.” This verse is an excellent introduction to expressing your thankfulness to your mother for how she raised you, which helped you develop into who you are today.
2. Proverbs 6:20-23: “My son, observe the commandment of your father and do not forsake the teaching of your mother; bind them continually on your heart; tie them around your neck. When you walk about, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk to you. For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching is light; and reproofs for discipline are the way of life.” You can use this verse to thank you mother for her wisdom and guidance and remind her that you will always hold what she has taught you close to your heart.
3. Proverbs 31:10-12, 25-30: “An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life … Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also, and he praises her, saying: ‘Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all.’ Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.” This passage describes God’s vision for motherhood. Husbands, this verse is especially perfect for a Mother’s Day card or letter to your wife, the mother of your children.
4. 1 Timothy 1:5: “But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.” While growing up, and especially during our teen years, many of us have probably felt, at one time or another, that our parents’ discipline was too strong or too strict. Over the years, however, we come to realize that our parents disciplined us because they loved us. Thank your mom for providing you with sound “instruction” even when it may have been difficult.
5. 1 John 3:18: “Let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.” This is a verse for the mom who has always communicated how much she loves you not just with her words, but also through her actions.
6. 1 Corinthians 13:13: “But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.” Has your mother given you all three? Tell her so, with a thankful heart.
7. Proverbs 29:17: “Correct your son, and he will give you comfort; He will also delight your soul.”
8. Psalm 139:13: “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.”
9. Isaiah 66:13: “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you …”
10. John 16:21: “Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world.” This verse is particularly fitting for a pregnant woman or a new mom.
No matter which Bible verse you choose to include in your Mother’s Day card or letter, your mom is sure to cherish it as long as you’ve written it from your heart.

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, [and to be] a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD. Psalm 113:9

WHO IS MOTHER?

Mother is half of the Father/Mother team, the one who gave birth to you as a child. When she first held you in her arms, she fell madly in love with you! She is the one that changed your diaper, gave you your bottle, bathed and dressed you. She is the one who tended to you when you were sick, wishes she could have bore your pain, but unable to even share it with you. There is none like a Mother.
If you have children, then you know what it’s like to be a Mother. Often, it’s a tough job, with unruly children, and many heartaches before they are grown. Sometimes a Mother is lucky that she has well-disciplined children, but only because she has done her best in order for them to be well-adjusted teenagers and later adults. Mostly, Mother sits and worries that she hasn’t done her best with her children, especially if they don’t turn out as she thought they should, with all the training she had given them.
Mother is a human being, capable of making mistakes. She is not perfect, just as none of us are perfect. But she is the one that we picture as being perfect during our childhood. As we become older, we realize that Mothers are capable of right and wrong ways of doing things, missing the mark, just as much as the next person. But she is still Mother. The thing that sets her apart is her everlasting love for her children and her intent that they lead normal, well-adjusted lives.
Not until we become adults, do we really begin to appreciate WHO Mother really is. She has nurtured you through your childhood, put up with your sassy ways and times of being lazy during your teenage years, and cried through your becoming an adult. But Mother was always there to encourage you when you made a mistake, although sometimes it’s hard not to show disappointment {I am sure I’ve done that}.
As we grow older and have our own children, we realize that Mother was a very strong person, and we begin to wonder can we ever fit into her shoes. No, we wear our ‘own shoes’……..we can never do things the same as our Mother, although she has given us the pattern from which to build. IF we have a Godly Mother {I did!}, then we can bring up our children in the ways of God, so that when they grow older we have the assurance that some day they will live for God. After all, Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the ways he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Mothers are special. Is your Mother living today? If so, try to make this Mother’s Day the most wonderful day of her life! Show her you care if only by telling her you love her. Take her out to eat, take her flowers, but show up on Mother’s Day, if possible. You will never know how much this helps Mother to realize her family still cares. Sometimes we get busy doing the usual things in life, and lose sight of the most important aspects – loving our family. And Mother happens to be where that ‘family’ began. Without Mother, there would never have been a family. You might also tell Daddy that you are so happy that he chose Mother to be his wife. Make his eyes light up as well!!

This upcoming Sunday is Mother’s Day. It’s the day when Americans remember and celebrate the contributions and sacrifices their moms have made on their behalf.
In honor of Mother’s Day, I’d like to tell you a story about one mother whose devotion shaped not only her son’s life but countless others, as well.
Her name was Monica. A Christian, she was married to a prominent man who wasn’t a believer. He was unfaithful and even beat her at times. Monica’s response was to go to church every day and pray for his conversion. She hoped that by setting a godly example, even in the midst of her mistreatment, she might win him over. And that’s exactly what happened.
The suffering and anguish caused by her husband paled before what Monica’s oldest son put her through. He lived a dissolute life, devoted to pleasure. He left one mistress and took up with another. His only son was born out-of-wedlock.
His lack of faith and rejection of Christian truth hurt Monica even more. He belittled her beliefs and seemed to go out of his way to embrace Christianity’s competitors for the hearts and, especially, minds of his contemporaries. He later recalled how his being “dead [to] that faith and spirit which,” as he put it, “[my mother] had from you… O, Lord” made her weep.
Still, Monica never gave up. The greatest preacher of the time, knowing of her prayers and tears for her son, told her that “it is impossible that the son of so many tears should perish.”
That preacher, Bishop Ambrose of Milan, was right. At the age of 35, Monica’s son, Augustine, became a Christian and was baptized, along with his son, Adeodatus, by Ambrose. A few months later, on the way home to Hippo with Augustine and Adeodatus, Monica fell ill and died.
Monica could not have known that her prayers and devotion would affect not only the life of her son but also the course of history. Her concern was that her son believe “the truth which is in Jesus.”
This devotion to the spiritual welfare of her son is why Monica is regarded as the model for all Christian mothers. Like Susannah Wesley, her zeal for the salvation of her son had an impact far beyond anything she could have imagined.
But there’s another reason why Monica’s story should resonate with “BreakPoint” listeners and readers. Her concern was not only that her son give up his debauchery, as important as that was. Monica was determined that he embrace the truth of Christianity. She prayed that he would renounce false worldviews and put his sharp mind to the service of Christian truth.
And that’s exactly what he did. Augustine championed the Christian worldview against the false alternatives of his day. Much of what Christians believe today was first and best articulated by Monica’s son. His writings, the Confessions and the City of God, are considered classics, not only of the Christian faith, but also of all of Western culture and civilization. Those books have profoundly shaped me and my ministry.

While there can be only one Monica and Augustine, every Christian mother-and father, for that matter-should be concerned with their kids’ worldviews. Praying for them and teaching them to seek after Christian truth is a solemn duty on our part and a contribution they will always remember, whether it is Mother’s Day or any other day of the year

As we took communion one Sunday morning, I heard a small boy asking, “What’s that, Daddy?”
The father explained the meaning of the bread. Then he prayed. The boy was quiet until the cup was passed. “What’s that daddy?” His father again explained. Then he prayed.
I chuckled at the colossal task the father was tackling. When I turned to give him a knowing nod, I realized it was David Robinson, NBA basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs. On his lap was his six-year-old son. Less that 24 hours earlier David had led the Spurs in scoring in a playoff game. In 24 hours he’d be doing the same in Phoenix. But sandwiched between nationally televised, high-stakes contests was David, the dad—-explaining communion to David, the son.

Which matters most? What will make the biggest difference? Watching his dad play basketball or hearing him whisper a prayer?

May 11, 2012. My servant David had a wonderful grasp of who I AM. His writings, meditations, and prayers in Psalm 119 paint an excellent picture of what I AM through My Word. Here are some of his prayers to Me and how My Word ministered to him. My Word keeps you from sinning, revives you and strengthens you. My Word establishes you, brings salvation, gives answers and gives life. My Word is merciful, keeps you, gives hope, settles you, tastes sweet, is a lamp and light, upholds you, gives understanding, directs your steps, is pure. My Word brings hope; My Word revives you; My Word brings deliverance to you. My Word is yours.

I’m going to be with Dewey this afternoon on his radio show. He wants me to talk to you about something that’s VERY important to your health; actually it’s VERY critical to you, your loved ones, your friends, your co-workers…to everyone who knows you. We’ll be talking about an article from the latest Newsweek magazine where on its cover is a photo of a blue-eyed baby holding French fries with the headline, “When I Grow Up, I’m Going to Weigh 300 Lbs. Help!”

That’s for this afternoon, but for now I need to address something that’s related to that which is an early warning sign to tell you if you are at HIGH risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, stroke, depression, and cancer.

I want you to do this quick test to see if you suffer from this potentially DANGEROUS situation.
1) Stand facing a mirror
2) Turn sideways
3) Look in the mirror at your belly

If your belly sticks out, protruding over your pant-line, you may have a VERY dangerous situation developing that you need to take immediate action on.

Belly Fat Isn’t Just Embarrassing, it’s Downright Dangerous!

While belly fat may be a visual annoyance, an inconvenience, or even an embarrassment, it’s actually something MUCH WORSE.

The wider your waistline and belly get, the more deep-hidden belly fat you develop around your organs – something called visceral or intra-abdominal fat – which is linked to high cholesterol, high insulin, high triglycerides and high blood pressure.

What’s worse, research published in the New England Journal of Medicine that looked at more than 350,000 people found that those with belly fat have a higher risk of DYING compared to their peers without a spare tire.

Not only is this fat dangerous, but for many of us, it’s hidden – out of sight – without us even knowing it. In fact, most people don’t know how MUCH hidden belly fat they have because the only truly accurate way to know that is with a expensive CT or MRI scans.

Sure, if you’re overweight you’re much more likely to have this fat, but even NORMAL weight people can have too much.

This helps to explain why as you age, that scale just keeps going up and up, even though your face and arms and legs may look the same – you are steadily and quietly and adding slabs of this dangerous, toxic hidden fat.

Which of These Two Fats Do You Have More Of?

Generally speaking you actually have TWO major types of fat, subcutaneous fat and visceral fat.

Subcutaneous fat is located superficially just under the skin and tends to accumulate in the hips, thighs, underarms and butt.

When you pinch you belly, that slab of fat that you are grabbing is the subcutaneous fat – it’s located on the OUTSIDE of your abdominal muscles.

But the visceral fat, on the other hand, is located on the INSIDE of your abdominals, snaking it’s way around your organs and in particular your liver, which as you’ll find out in a second, is one of the keys to why belly fat can increase your risk of heart disease, diabetes…and, yes, premature death.

It’s what makes your pants hard to fit into and what creates a beer belly in men and makes women look like over-sized pears.

While neither subcutaneous nor visceral fat are great to have in excess, it’s the visceral fat that’s proven to be the most dangerous.

In fact, belly fat is much more metabolically and biologically active – it’s a TOTALLY different animal.

“If you put visceral fat in a petri dish and you put subcutaneous fat in a petri dish and stimulate them, the visceral fat will produce a lot more inflammatory molecules that can raise a person’s risk of heart disease and diabetes,” says Tim Church, medical director of the Cooper Institute in Dallas.

So from a physiological standpoint, your belly fat is effectively another organ or gland, producing hormones and other chemical messengers that interact with other parts of your biology.

Except it’s an organ that’s gone ROGUE…it’s like a MONSTER living inside your body, SPEWING out hormones and toxins that increase inflammation and make it difficult for important organs, such as your kidneys and liver, to do their job.

For example, because of how close visceral fat is located to your portal vein – the vein that carries blood from your intestinal area to your liver – the junk that your belly fat monster spews slips into the portal vein and zips RIGHT into your liver.

Some of this junk – extra fatty acids for example – causes your liver to increase the production of LDL cholesterol, which can collect in your arteries, oxidize and become inflamed. This can lead to swelling that narrows the arteries, restricts blood flood, straining your heart and dramatically increasing your risk of a heart attack or a stroke.

And if that wasn’t enough, the extra fat that’s in your liver causes your liver to go crazy and produce way too much glucose (blood sugar). Too much glucose leads to your body blasting out too much insulin, which leads to insulin resistance and eventually type 2-diabetes!

How to Kill Excess Belly Fat

So what’s the solution to taming your belly fat monster?

Is it to exercise until you drop? Starve yourself? Go on a low-fat diet? Absolutely NOT!

Exercise is important, but nowhere near what a PROPER diet should be, after all, food is the fuel and if it’s good fuel then good things happen and if it’s bad fuel then really bad things happen. The key is the food you eat or don’t eat. It’s your medicine or it’s your poison…either way it’s your choice.

So what is the best food to eat?

First let me tell you which foods are the worse you could possibly eat. It’s the following foods that puts on the fat and causes you the most problems. And here they are: sugars of any kind, breads and pastas that are processed, and starchy vegetables such as potatoes (it is one of the vegetables that contain starch or carbohydrates in abundance. Our body converts and stores the unused carbohydrates or glucose as body fat). These “big three” foods are THE fattening carbohydrates that you really need to avoid at all costs.

Now, here’s the shocker! The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat foods that are rich in animal products — meat, eggs, cheese — along with green leafy vegetables. Your weight will go down when you eat like this, and heart disease and diabetes risk factors will be greatly reduced. I strongly advise that you shop for animal products that are grass fed and your veggies from your local farmer. You’ll want to keep your food sources as free as possible from chemicals. And you’ll want to keep taking your Fish Oil capsules and Vitamin D3 tablets, too.
