PRAISE GOD!!! Glad you are here this morning……..We get a lot of comments wondering about how our Kid’s are doing! WOW! Thank you! We just got this wedding picture from Steph of all of us! We want to share it with you!

From Left to right Michael graduate of NM State working for Dish Network in Denver, Natasha, Greg’s fiance who is a Graduate of NM State also attended CIA School in Ireland, She lives in Denver and is a Restaurant Manager, Greg Graduate from CIA School in Hyde Park, NY Executive Chef over 10 Restaurants in Denver, Sharon, Patrick, Daughter Steph’s husband works in the Defense Industry in Denver, Steph is a physicist for a Company in Denver a Graduate of NM State, Dewey, Gretchen Graduate of University of NM now at Eastern NM in Wildlife Mgt and begins work in Mule Shoe Texas Monday, Lars is attending Columbia College in Chicago for Cinematography . WOW! The Lord has blessed us much and the Kid’s are working hard!

Bill Graham said, “Parents, pray that God may crown your home with grace and mercy. In searching for ways to bridge the generation gap, there is no doubt that we, as parents, will have to practice what we preach, by striving more to bring our conduct into line with our code of beliefs.” AMEN!

I also go back to what Tom sent in a few days ago, and I think this will be the third time I have posted this, but the Lord says post it again because it is so profound……

I heard a man say that he learned more as a parent than he ever learned from his parents. I learn so much from my children and from being a parent to my children.

We must be Salt and Light in our own homes.

One of the main reasons America is struggling is because of the problems we find in families.

We must help families as the Body of Christ.

Here our a few more thoughts from Billy Graham…….

Only God Himself fully appreciates the influence of a Christian Mother in the molding of character in her children.

Then influence of a mother upon the lives of her children cannot be measured. They know and absorb her example and attitudes when it comes to questions of honesty, temperance, kindness, and industry.

Many parents preach to their children but do not set good examples. Parents want the children to do as they say, not as they do.

Parenting is the most important responsibility most of us will ever face, and none of us does it perfectly.

What a blessing it is for parents to BELIEVE in their children! AMEN! AMEN!

Wise words from Billy.

I wish I had been a better parent when the kid’s were growing up, talking too much maybe, giving out to much advise at times, not having enough patience ……now I find myself praying more and just listening more……..somehow the Kid’s survived and are thriving!

Sharon has been and is the stabilizing force in the home.

Just like my Mom, Ruth was.

Honest, good hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.

That’s from Luke 8:15

This morning let us life up all families to the Lord, the families that are struggling so much, the families that have one parent at home, the families that the Dad has walked out on, the families that have a druggie for a Mom or Daddy. Let us hold up these families this day and all days. Let us as the Body of Christ reach out to these families and be Salt and Light. Let us show them the love of Jesus Christ, Let us be Christ like.

My prayer this morning is that you will share this CUP with many.

My prayer also this morning is that you will not rush this CUP, that you will pray over these writings, that they will be absorbed into your heart and soul, and that they will help bring you closer to God and your Children.

When God created humans, he designed us to live in families. Family relationships, therefore, are important to God. Even the church, the universal body of believers, is called the family of God. When we receive God’s Spirit at salvation, we are adopted into his family. This collection of Bible verses about family will help you focus on the various relational aspects of a godly family unit.

Getting Back Up After Failure by Rick Warren

“Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up. But when trouble strikes the wicked, that’s the end of them.” (Proverbs 24:16 CEV) Failure isn’t fatal — it’s normal! Just look around. All of us mess up from time to time. Somebody recently gave me a book, “The (Incomplete) Book of Failures: The Official Handbook of the Not-Terribly-Good Club of Great Britain.” When they printed the book, they forgot to print the first two pages and had to add it later. Even the book was a failure! Unfortunately, we tend to hyper-focus on our own shortcomings, and that robs us of our confidence. That’s part of what happened to the first disciples. Yesterday, I told you how amazed I was that the first disciples went from defeated to dynamic so quickly after the Resurrection. I shared with you the first of three roadblocks to confidence that the disciples illustrated: fatigue. The second of these roadblocks is failure. Matthew 26:56 says, “All the disciples deserted him and fled” (NIV). One of the main reasons the confidence of the disciples was so shaken was their sense of failure for having deserted Jesus. Plus, the thriving movement they were a part of — the ministry of Jesus — was seemingly dead. They were having a pity party. They were second-guessing themselves and wondering what went wrong. Jesus was supposed to be the Messiah, but then he died. I’m sure they were asking, “Why me? Who cares? What now?” What’s the antidote to failure? It’s perseverance. You overcome failure when you admit it to God and keep doing what God has called you to do regardless of setbacks. The Bible reminds us that God specializes in using failures. The fact is, just three days after Jesus was crucified and the disciples thought their lives were in the tank, Jesus rose from the dead. God specializes in lost causes. The Bible says in Proverbs 24:16, “Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up. But when trouble strikes the wicked, that’s the end of them” (CEV). Are you ready to get back up? While you can’t change some of the common risk factors of diabetes (e.g., your family history, age, and ethnicity), you can control most other diabetes risk factors. Here’s the final four: Diabetes Risk Factor #9: You’re Depressed Depression can do more than make you sad, irritable, or lose interest in activities you once enjoyed. It can also increase your diabetes risk by 60%. How? People who are depressed often don’t exercise, don’t socialize, and eat poorly, all of which boost the odds of developing diabetes. Research also links depression with hormonal changes that can raise your risk for obesity and diabetes. If you suspect you have depression, talk to your doctor about treatment, which may include medication, therapy, or a combination of both. Diabetes Risk Factor #10: You’re Getting Older As if having more wrinkles and gray hairs isn’t enough, middle age also means a higher diabetes risk. Diabetes is more common after the age of 45, when your metabolism slows, you start to lose muscle mass, and your weight creeps up. That’s why it’s even more important to keep up daily healthy habits and get screened for diabetes every three years or less after the age of 45. Diabetes Risk Factor #11: Your Family Has a History of Diabetes Diabetes loves families! It’s true that genetics play a role in your diabetes risk. If you have a parent or sibling with diabetes, especially type 2 diabetes, your odds are significantly higher. For example, if one twin has type 2 diabetes, the other has a 3 in 4 chance of developing it, too. But, the American Diabetes Association notes that heredity isn’t destiny. While you may be genetically predisposed to diabetes, healthy habits, such as watching your weight and exercising, can delay or even prevent diabetes. Diabetes Risk Factor #12: Your Race or Ethnicity People of some races or ethnic groups have a higher diabetes risk than the general population. Are you African American, Asian American, Hispanic, American Indian, or Pacific Islander? Depending on your background, your risk of type 2 diabetes can be up to 77% higher than it is for your Caucasian friends. You can’t change your race or ethnicity, but you can control other diabetes risk factors, such as weight, diet, stress, and sleep. Ask your doctor how often you should be tested for diabetes. I am very thankful for the work the Lord has given me…….yesterday I was able to spend time with Pastor Ray Franks and Pastor Steve Smothermon on the radio! What Godly men, what Mentor’s of mine!

How blessed am I???? WOW I have what, about 25 Pastor’s around me as Mentor’s!!! Iron sharpens Iron! I am so thankful to the LORD for blessing me this way with so many AWESOME friends!

A Call to Godly Living

The apostle Paul lived in an age when sensuality, the pursuit of pleasure, and rebellion against the Lord were prevalent. In response, he wrote letters urging Christians not to follow in the ways of the world. Like those early believers, we are to pursue godliness by…

Presenting our bodies to God. Our total being–mind, will, emotions, personality, and physical body–are to be turned over to our heavenly Father (James 4:7a). Submitting ourselves to the Lord requires a definite decision to give Him control and a daily commitment to remain under His authority. By surrendering to Him, we will position ourselves for godly living.

Becoming living sacrifices. The Christian life is built around the concept of sacrifice. Jesus left the perfection of heaven to dwell among a sinful people so He might reconcile us to God. He offered up His life to make payment for our sins (1 John 3:16) and brought us into His family. As believers, we are to follow His example. Paul called it a living sacrifice, because it is ongoing–one that is repeated daily.

Life is full of options. Many decisions involve a choice between following God’s way or our own. Maturing Christians will increasingly sacrifice their own desires and embrace His will.
A life of godliness is characterized by a heart and mind bent toward the things of God. Although we will live imperfectly, our focus is to be on obeying His will and pleasing Him. Let’s commit to becoming more like Jesus, the One who willingly gave Himself to God as a sacrifice for us.

Great words from Dr. Stanley, By being Salt and Light, by being Christ Like and caring our the Great Commission we can turn this World around for Jesus Christ! We only have to believe and do!

This is what the Lord is showing me RIGHT NOW…………..

Proverbs tells us, “It’s dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you” Proverbs 29:25…….there is so much freedom in that, I had been a prisoner of fearing what others think of me for years, now that I have for the most part, 95%, let go of that fear, I have so much freedom to serve the LORD, to be Salt and Light and say what HE tells me to say and do!

Many, many are afraid of others and what they think. maybe you are afraid of others and what they think of you.

The person who fears God has nothing to hide. In fact, he or she is scared to be away from God! King David had a holy fear of God but still ran toward Him and said, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you” Psalm 139:23-24

AMEN! FOR GODS GLORY ALONE WE GO FORTH!

After yesterday’s posting my neighbor Tom Johnson sent this in….what an impactful statement……

AMEN! I cried when I read that, and said..that is how I feel at this point in my life! I am learning more from my kid’s!

I said to Linda at work that I wonder if this is how my Dad felt at 56……I miss him dearly he passed on 20 years ago.

It was a very beautiful morning here at the Moede house yesterday as Chef Greg and Natasha fixed me, Sharon and Gretchen breakfast! Food was AWESOME. conversation was even better!

Lars flies in tonight from Chicago for 10 days!

Very emotional day for me and Sharon, but an AWESOME day and then I get this from Kathy Robbins
who prophesied over me months ago……..

I saw the robin perch on the window sill
Her heart was full a gratitude for the day’s fill
And thought of you in my heart of hearts
Knowing Daddy’s working is good for you to impart

I then saw a new mother of sparrows
Lurking around her newborn fellows
She sang and jumped and pranced all around
Declaring with her song the earth is the Lord’s, it is holy ground.

What of your song and dance today
To declare this is the day the Lord has made
He sees, He knows and is ever aware
And will not be late, but with more goodness to share.

New strength we declare released from the throne

Praise God for you, your ministry and especially the cup this AM.

I believe with all my heart PRAYER IS THE KEY. II Chronicles 7:14…”if my people humble themselves and PRAY”.

Dewey, what would happen if Jesus’ body, the church, worldwide, would begin to fast and pray for renewal, revival and restoration. Back in the early 1800’s a prayer service was started by just 6 men at lunch time that exploded to thousands praying. Businesses had to close for the lunch hour because so many were heading to the church buildings to pray for revival and renewal. Chuck Swindol says, “THE FIRST THING AND ONLY THING THAT WILL WORK IS THE LAST THING WE TRY…PRAYER!”

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God. AND, the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” What protects our hearts? What protects our minds? PRAYER!

Praying for you, Sharon, Gretchen, Lars, Greg, Steph, Mike, Natasha your family, your ministry and influence as a person of Salt and Light. SHINE ON!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am thrilled to inform you that the wool fleece came back
sopping and that by His grace, ELM is now planning to
continue operations next year! As in the past, the Father
showed up in a big way and, as has often been the case, He
showed up in the final moments. I want to acknowledge and
thank Pastors Alan and Gail Hawkins and their congregation
at New Life City for responding in a huge way in our time
of need. I’d also like to extend a special thank you to
our intercessory prayer leaders, Joan Christy and Carol
Shirley (the school’s “prayer ladies”) for inviting Alan
and Gail to visit ELM last week. Pastors Hawkins were
touched by the students at ELM and responded with such
tremendous love. I also want to let you know that our
families continue to fund raise and are working hard to do
more for the school than they have in the past. They have
definitely been inspired by all of you who stepped up in
our time of need. The sum of all of this (sorry for the
math pun), is that God clearly wants ELM to continue to
share the gospel in Albuquerque’s toughest neighborhood
next year 🙂

On behalf of the teachers and students at ELM, I’d like to
thank you again for your prayers and support of Escuela
Luz del Mundo this year! And please don’t forget that you
are invited to the annual continuation ceremony on Friday,
May 25th at 5:30 PM that will be taking place in the main

Calling Got Lost In The Laundry

We all have a calling on our heart to fulfill God’s purpose, but how do we follow God’s calling when we don’t feel valued, worthy or qualified to do so?
I sometimes feel like I’m on a roller coaster ride that is being driven by the highs and lows of self-esteem. As a life coach I know that self-esteem plays a large part in our pursuit of our purpose but how can we move from the lows (feeling broken, unworthy, invisible or unqualified) to feeling confident, grounded, valued and brilliant in our journey to achieve our highest calling? I have struggled with this a few times in my life along with many of my clients and I’ve learned some valuable lessons I want to share…
We often get a degree or certificate from school and we feel worthy and qualified to move forward and pursue that career because we got educated and validated in that process. We feel qualified and confident to move forward to make money in that area. But yet we don’t put the same validation on our calling when God calls us to move forward in His purpose. When we hear Gods calling and he has equipped us with amazing talents and gifts, why don’t we give ourselves the permission, or feel qualified, worthy or valued enough to move forward in that calling? Instead we question it or question ourselves? Friends will come and go, fashion will change, time will continue moving on, but God will remain constant, and so will His value of you. I just went through this this year with my business – I heard God’s calling through a prayer a year ago and heard him ask me to change one of my businesses from being an inspiration program for all women to being faith based for women’s ministries. I immediately felt unqualified. Who am I to do something faith based – I’m an everyday working Christian mom — I didn’t go to school for seminary nor do I lead anything for my church? But what I do know is I’ve been an unshakeable Christian for 20 years and I love Christ and I love women’s ministry. I had to get out of my own way and let God work through me. What I learned is that he equipped me for this transition from the day I was born – he gave me the talents, gifts, skills, friends and knowledge to do it, but I had to believe that. I had to believe he would be there every step of the way. Today I have a program and retreat company that serves womens’ ministries worldwide called Sisters (www.sistersprogram.com) – I truly see how God equipped me to create this program and how it serves his church and his women and I am happy that I heard the call and I trusted the call. It wasn’t fast nor easy! It took over a year to gather the team and finish the transition, but I did it through trusting God.
One of the things I highly suggest to help you through this process is to Stop-Pray-Listen. This is something I named as I was walking through the ‘fire’ of following my calling. It wasn’t that I just prayed a lot I actually had 3 steps… the first was to stop my day from errands, parenting, cleaning the house and working to stop and pray (sometimes it was only 3 minutes!). The stopping part took some practicing because I was great at praying throughout my busy day. But the biggest challenge was the listen part! What I want to challenge you to do is to hear what God has planned for you and have the courage to move in that direction. The first steps are scary – you might feel unqualified, but do it anyway, you might feel scared, but do it anyway, you might feel alone but do it anyway. I learned quickly that I had to pray about it every day, I had to keep believing that I was equipped, I had to ask for support from my Christian sisters, and I had to be patient!!
You might be asking how do we make such a dramatic shift when the world says we can’t, or our identity is wrapped up in our career or material things?
Proverbs 3:26 – For the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
This verse says ‘the LORD will be your confidence’, not your friends, not the clothes you buy, not your career, not the car you drive, but the LORD. You no longer need to look to other places or material objects to determine who you are and what your worth is. You don’t have to be afraid of situations and circumstances that cause you to feel insecure and doubt your value, because your real source of worth and value comes from Christ who gives you all the confidence (and talents) you need in any situation. When obstacles cause you to question your value, you don’t have to accept them, when friends or family say or do things that make you doubt your worth, you don’t have to accept them. They are not your source of worth; your worth comes from a much greater power. As a coach I know it’s hard to actually ‘apply’ or implement new ways of thinking or actions, here are 2 great books that helped me on my journey ; Return to Love by Marianne Williamson who says pray for miracles (miracles in her book are you praying that God will shift your perspective in this area so you can see newly). if you look at the world for your validation, value and worth I encourage you to pray for a miracle everyday until your mind starts to put more value on Gods’ thoughts of you verses what your neighbor thinks of you. Pray such that God will open your eyes, mind and heart to his love and acceptance and his full confidence in you, and you will start seeing yourself pursuing your highest calling and your highest self in no time!! The second great book I wanted to share about is Lioness Arising by Lisa Bevere who talks about how crucial it is to do life with your pride sisters. She talks about how strong, and confident lionesses are and how they do life together confidently. I ask that we awaken from our slumber of mediocrity and day-to-day spinning and rushing, and we step into our strength and value that God put on us and we pursue our highest calling together!!!

Continued: Are You At Risk for Type 2 Diabetes?
Review: Nearly 26 million Americans have diabetes, a metabolic disorder that results in too much glucose (sugar) in your blood. While you can’t change some of the common risk factors of diabetes (e.g., your family history, age, and ethnicity), you can control most other diabetes risk factors. Here’s four more:

Diabetes Risk Factor #5: You Eat a Bad Diet
For many people, a bad diet boosts their diabetes odds. Most Americans eat few fruits and vegetables, which puts them at a very high risk for many health problems, including diabetes. In fact, one survey found that fewer than half of Americans eat five or more servings of fruits and vegetables most days of the week. Of particular benefit are leafy greens, such as spinach, kale, and collard greens. One analysis found that eating slightly more than one serving of leafy greens a day (about 1 cup raw greens) can lower diabetes risk by 14%. Make sure you buy as farm fresh as possible.

Diabetes Risk Factor #6: You Live with Stress
Managing a busy to-do list and crazy work hours isn’t just stressful. It also increases diabetes risk. Chronic stress causes your body to release extra stress hormones, such as cortisol. In turn, that causes insulin resistance, which makes blood sugar levels climb. Stress also contributes to other diabetes risk factors, including depression, a bad diet, and poor sleep, Hatipoglu says. Manage stress with relaxation techniques that you find to work for you. Spend time with great friends or enjoy a nightly sitcom or a funny movie for some laughter.

Diabetes Risk Factor #7: You Guzzle Sugar-Sweetened Drinks
Many people enjoy an occasional soda with their pizza, but drinking too many sugar-sweetened beverages – including juices, energy drinks, sweetened ice tea, and coffee drinks – packs on pounds that can lead to obesity and diabetes. Experts suspect sugar-sweetened drinks alter the body’s ability to use insulin efficiently, causing blood sugar levels to rise. A better choice? Sip water with lemon instead.

Diabetes Risk Factor #8: You Have Hypertension
Nearly one in three Americans has high blood pressure, or hypertension, a state in which your blood pressure levels are above 140/90. High blood pressure means your heart is working harder than it should to pump blood throughout your body. Hypertension doesn’t cause diabetes, Hatipoglu says, but high blood pressure is often a sign of diabetes. The good news is many of the same steps that can help you prevent diabetes (e.g., exercising and eating right) can also stave off or lower high blood pressure.

Let me share with you some WONDERFUL News in our LORD! Let us be Salt and Light to our Families! WOW! Gretchen got the news she got a 4.0 at Eastern New Mexico and Lars has all A’s thus far on his finals! It is so right to hold up our Children! Sharon and I took Gretchen, Greg and Natasha out to eat last night to celebrate. I hear from many of you how you hold up your Children, I see it first hand across the street from neighbor Tom and Joan Johnson. I was modeled this by my Mom and Dad. I see it with many others. Being Salt and Light starts right in our own home. We have to be careful as to not start pointing fingers and trying to correct the world if our own house is not in order.

As the Children get older, I struggle to let go…….I guess I should not even call them children anymore!
Now I find myself listening more to them and giving them my thoughts when asked and still providing encouragement.

One of the biggest things we can do as Parents no matter how old the Kid’s are is PRAY!

Turning the page now to Christianity under Attack in the United States, I had Fmr Congressman and Pastor Bill Redmond on with me last night to talk about this………

On Thursday, May 10, 2012, just one week after a record turnout for the National Day of Prayer across the country, when millions gathered from coast to coast to unite in prayer, the Colorado Court of Appeals ruled that the governor’s proclamation for a state Day of Prayer violates the Constitutions’ provisions for religious liberty. The Colorado Court of Appeals also requested that a trial court decide if a governor should be prohibited from making such proclamations in the future, as well as a permanent ban on state prayer events. The judges did not weigh the National Day of Prayer proclamations, which federal courts have ruled are constitutional.

This case began in 2008 against former Governor Bill Ritter by a small group of atheists headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin. Judge Mullins of the District Court in Denver, Colorado, initially dismissed the case on October 28, 2010, declaring “…there is nothing controversial about a restatement of a right protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution…the proclamation [does] not have the force and effect of law, and even if [it] did, the language does not support the foundation for a state religion, but only an acknowledgment of the rights of the citizenry as recognized as far back as the Declaration of Independence.”

If Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and Colorado Attorney General John Suthers do not appeal this decision to the state Supreme Court, it is likely there will be national impact as a direct result.

The National Day of Prayer has been deeply rooted in America’s history since 1775. More than 900 public proclamations have been recorded since that time, and 34 of our 44 presidents have made such declarations. In 1952, a bill unanimously passed by Congress was signed into law by President Truman setting aside an annual National Day of Prayer. And, in 1988, legislative steps were taken by Congress and President Reagan to establish the first Thursday of May as the specific day for the observance each year. However, prayer is also deeply rooted in Colorado’s history. In fact, the first proclamation calling on Coloradans to pray was in 1905 when Governor Jesse F. McDonald stated that we should “turn to the Lord in prayer…for His mercies, and for a continuation of our present happy condition in the future; and do earnestly request that, in our homes and houses of worship, we humble ourselves before Him, with gratitude and love in our hearts, and endeavor to cultivate within us the Christ-like spirit.”

With this ongoing assault on the National Day of Prayer, as well as our hard-won religious liberties, we must remain faithful in prayer, and we hope millions will continue to join our NDP Task Force to that end. George Washington, our first President, stated that “It is our duty as a people, with devout reverence and affectionate gratitude, to acknowledge our many and great obligations to Almighty God, and implore Him to continue and confirm the blessings we experienced.” Other presidents and government leaders have echoed these sentiments throughout our country’s history. Prayer is an indispensable part of our heritage, and as citizens, we must not become complacent or grow weary in our commitment to interceding for our nation during this pivotal and challenging time.

We urge that every individual within the great state of Colorado contact Governor Hickenlooper and Colorado Attorney General John Suthers to appeal this decision to the Colorado Supreme Court.

Today we hear from Darlene Quiring, Pastor Paul Holt, Pastor Don Kimbro, and Pastor Mark Tross……

This whole Psalm deals with those who are seeking to do God’s righteousness, to give to the poor, to be an upright and just person, to contribute to other needs, clothing the naked and visiting widows and orphans.
Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
So many people looking for encouraging Bible verses look to this one because they think that if they delight in the Lord, then He will give them what they want.
My interpretation would be that if we take a whole-hearted satisfaction in Jesus, he will mold and shape our hearts so that we have proper desires.
In doing so, as we commit our path to Him we will be faithful to establish our ways before Him. It’s certainly one thing to get what you want from God, but I think it is another thing to be transformed by Him. Darlene Quiring

These types of verses are often misquoted by the health and wealth crowd (name it and claim it, blab it and grab it). These verses and the similar verses found in the New Testament (including words spoken by our Lord Jesus) have an implied if/then statement attached (my computer science training) to them. Notice that the verse begins with “Take delight in the Lord and”. The two concepts are joined. If we take delight in the Lord then He will give you the desires of your heart.

When our desires are His desires, that is when incredible things will happen. Our Lord Jesus put it this way in John 5:19 Then Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you; the Son can do nothing of himself [by his own will], but only does what he sees the Father do. For whatever things he [the Father] does, these are also likewise done by the Son.

So what do I desire? To do the will of the one who sent me.

Perhaps this explanation of the passage in question from my mentor Robertson McQuilkin will help understand the promise:

“Different interpretations are given to the promise, “he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psm. 37:4). Does the psalmist (David) mean to indicate that God will answer prayer by giving what the person desires? Or does he mean that the desire or “want” a person ought to have will be given to him? The answer to that question can be settled by a simple word study that indicates that the Hebrew word translated ‘desires’ actually means ‘prayer, petition or request’ (mishalah).”

Another way to determine the meaning is to check parallel passages. The word is used only one other place in the Psalms and that is in 20:5 which says, “We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests (mishalah).

I believe God is promising through David that those who delight themselves in the Lord are the ones who will have their prayers answered–prayers asked according to His will (1 Jn. 5:14-15). I hope this helps.

When you talk about asking, that’s exactly what ‘praying’ means, Ask, Seek & Knock, is what Jesus said, but remember, it’s In His Name, representing all that He is and in agreement with His Word. King David said, The Lord is My Shepherd, I Shall Not Want, and Paul said, My God Shall supply ALL of your needs, according to His Riches In Glory! These are great and precious promises, all of which are yes and amen In Christ Jesus. Ephesians says, This Is God’s Will for you. Isn’t it a shame that so many Christians don’t read The Word, because Jesus said, If you love Me, you’ll obey My Commandments. Obedience always brings God’s Richest Blessings, so like Jesus said, As The Father Has Sent Me, So I AM Sending YOU! My prayer is that all believers everywhere would delight themselves in the Lord, bring unity to The Body, Equip The Saints for service & Fulfill The Great Commission, so that we could be with The One we should all be desiring most, FOREVER! The term ‘making out’ referred to how you did on your school exam….
Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, and instant coffee were unheard of.
We had 5 &10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents.
Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel.
And if you didn’t want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.
You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600, . .. . but who could afford one?
Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon.
In my day:
‘ “grass” was mowed,
‘ “coke” was a cold drink,
‘ “pot” was something your mother cooked in and
‘ “rock music” was your grandmother’s lullaby.
‘ “Aids” were helpers in the Principal’s office,
‘ “chip” meant a piece of wood,
‘ “hardware” was found in a hardware store and
‘ “software” wasn’t even a word.

And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby.
No wonder people call us “old and confused” and say there is a generation gap.

Are You At Risk for Type 2 Diabetes?
Nearly 26 million Americans have diabetes, a metabolic disorder that results in too much glucose (sugar) in your blood. While you can’t change some of the common risk factors of diabetes (e.g., your family history, age, and ethnicity), you can control most other diabetes risk factors. Here’s how:

Diabetes Risk Factor #1: You’re a Couch Potato
A sedentary lifestyle is one of the biggest diabetes risk factors. Recent studies link too much sitting — whether at your desk at work or on the couch in front of the TV — with higher diabetes risk. Getting regular exercise may be one of the most important things to do to prevent diabetes. Why is activity so good? Regular exercise takes glucose out of your bloodstream and sends it to your muscles, where it’s burned up as energy. That helps keep your blood sugar level steady. Exercise also helps prevent other diabetes risk factors, including weight gain, stress, and insomnia.

Diabetes Risk Factor #2: You Have Belly Fat
Skyrocketing rates of diabetes are directly linked to America’s bloated waistlines. More than 85% of people with type 2 diabetes are overweight, according to the National Institutes of Health. It’s not clear why being overweight boosts diabetes risk, but experts suspect belly fat that make body cells resist the hormone insulin, which carries glucose in the blood to cells to use as energy. When you develop insulin resistance, cells can’t take up the glucose, resulting in high blood sugar levels. People concerned about heart disease and diabetes should simply take their height and waist measurements to figure out their risk, say British researchers. Ideally, all should aim to keep their waist measurement to less than half that of their height, found the scientists. That means a 6ft (72 inch) tall man should aim to keep his waist less than 36 inches, while a 5ft 4in (64 inch) woman should keep hers under 32 inches. They have found that the easy-to-calculate ratio between the two is a much better predictor of risk than the most widely measure of obesity, called body mass index (BMI).

Diabetes Risk Factor #3: You Haven’t Had a Blood Glucose Test
When it comes to understanding your diabetes risk, knowledge is power, which is why regular diabetes screenings are so critically important. A simple blood test can tell you if your blood glucose is rising or whether you have pre-diabetes, a state in which blood sugar levels are slightly elevated but not high enough to qualify for diabetes. Experts estimate that prediabetes affects 79 million people in the U.S. “When people learn they have prediabetes, I tell them they’re extremely lucky,” says Betul Hatipoglu, MD, an endocrinologist at Cleveland Clinic. “It’s an opportunity for them to make changes so they can reverse the disease.” Get a blood glucose test every one to three years, depending on whether you have other risk factors.

Diabetes Risk Factor #4: You Don’t Get Enough Sleep
Skimping on sleep is exhausting and makes you grumpy. Even worse, it causes your body to secrete extra stress hormones that lead to insulin resistance and weight gain, Dr. Hatipoglu says. “People who don’t sleep enough at night are also hungrier because they have more ghrelin, a hormone that make you eat more,” she says. Aim for 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night. If your partner says you snore, and you don’t wake up refreshed, see your doctor. You may have sleep apnea, a breathing disorder during sleep that can boost your diabetes risk.
