Good day Dewey’s Daily Cup Readers!
Please allow me to introduce myself again for you; I am Karen Rowe, Host of Hope in Today, Author of The Train Whistle, Sounding the Call of God’s Love, and fellow reader of DDC. I have studied for years with God [through the power that God gives … Holy Spirit anointing] and this is my credential that I have to write this day: “I know the shepherd,” and “I learn as He teaches me how to live my life obedient to God’s Word”, which is the direction to our life to the full. Simply put, I follow Jesus. All I do is apply my faith that God has given to me to serve in my purpose, but it is Jesus alive in me who shows me that way and He equips me every small step I take all along the way!
It is once again an honor to serve by writing what is on my heart! It is 3:30 am in NC and the spirit of the Lord woke me up with words on my mind about “pride.” As far as my faith, these are the words the Spirit put on my heart to say Today; and, as far as your faith, you can test and approve! I share, because when God presses our heart to share, we can know that God has someone on his mind other than me! We are not to be wise in our own eyes; or over-think and allow let pride to stand in our way!
Prime example! God gave me a revelation of simplicity [as I
was struggling in something silly], “I don’t have it all figured out, BUT God does…Follow Jesus!” This was so powerful to me in that moment, I thought “if I could get that on a bumper sticker, I would put that revelation on my car!” I don’t usually like bumper stickers btw, so for me this was a point to make! Within 2 weeks I had designed, ordered and received this bumper sticker! YET, when I showed it to Rev. Alston, I said in doubt, “I don’t know; some people may not like bumper stickers.” His reply was amazing in power and simplicity! “Karen, if you don’t offer the bumper sticker, because some people don’t like bumper stickers, then you would be keeping the message from the ones who would like to have this bumper sticker.”
This made me think! What if God only had one person on His mind other than me with this simple message? It is worth all that I do to share [all (no more/no less) that God puts on my heart to share]! Now, some things are just for our personal growth and learning; and I have learned (& btw I am still learning J)not to share everything with everyone, but when God opens doors to share and HE presses our heart to share, then we need to step in faith and be bold to share, because it is the work of the Holy Spirit, who does all the work to completion! We just plant little seeds! My seeds are with words that do not originate from my intelligence, so I share by faith because I trust God knows more! Who am I, to let my pride and own thoughts stand in the way of my faith that God can use?
… And so I share this message with you Today! I hope this will bless you!
Our Boast in is the Lord … so … Is it Okay to say that God can be proud of us? If love is not proud; is this a boast; or praise to God? Let’s take a look:
Love is not proud, but God is proud of us! Love is not a boast, but rather a position in a relationship requiring a helper. The spirit of God teaches us the dangers of being “pride filled” but also, the spirit teaches us the beauty in being proud of who we are in Christ, which brings glory to God! We should be proud of knowing Jesus, because He is Lord over our life! But our excitement is not a boast, but rather a story to reflect how much we all need God!
God is proud of us; did you know that? God loves us like this, I tell my son, “I am proud of you son!” (I am proud of both of my children and I am proud of my husband too); yet it is that child’s response that got my attention, “what did I do my mommy?” “Son”, I will say; “It is not what you have done or didn’t do; I am proud of you for who you are, because I know your heart.”
This amazes my 7 year old son that [I could be proud of him
for doing nothing; especially, knowing that he has done much not to be proud of
… hummm (me too btw)]. Perhaps this will amaze you too, when I say that God is proud of us for who we are. It is not about what we do or don’t do for God that makes him proud of us; God is proud of who we are on the inside … our heart! The Bible is meant to make us better people in our behavior, and God looks at and knows our heart as we learn and all along our way! God just loves us with patience and perseverance, but there is that time that when we reject learning that we need to humbly come home to God! Love is not proud!
So let’s take a look at pride as the Bible explains this kind of ultimate love that is not “proud” … Yet, God tells us to expect hearing, “well done my good and faithful servant!”
This is not a double standard! God is not doubled minded! God is absolute and never changes; God is love and God is proud of His Son, “Jesus, who is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”! I am proud of my son for who he is too! Because of ultimate love, I am proud of my husband and my children all of the time; and this type of being ‘proud of’ opposes pride & links directly to love…4 little letters that hook to respect that have the world baffled in the simplicity of the meaning of love!
Once my husband and I took a series of adoption classes and in one of those classes, I learned a valuable understanding that is fitting to share here right now: Simply, “it is not the child that is bad; it is the behavior.”
There is a separation between our behavior and actions from whom we are, but our behavior reflects what we believe, thus, reflects who we are, but because it is not our behavior that dictates who we are (none of us are perfect…we are simply learning how to be better with each passing day), it is who we are that God is proud of, because we are simply His child! God knows His children and is calling us to Him quickly in Today’s world it seems, but maybe my eyes are just wide open to see it! God has been at work since time began bringing us home to him, so that our relationship with him as his child could be fully reconciled!
Nothing we can do will make God love us any more or any less and I will tell you with complete conviction of my heart, that God is proud of who we are, because He loves us as His own family! God sees beyond our behavior, because He knows the root of who we are! God knows our heart!
So God is proud of us when we accept His gifts and step out in faith when we trust him, but God will love us either way and God is proud of us for simply being His child! God knows his children, that I am for certain and He works endlessly to not let one of us children walk away or stay hidden away from him. But God is God and part of who we are is that we have a mind to choose to love God too.
I believe that it comes down to believing enough to seek God’s knowledge to gain understanding of … “just who is this God of ours who does love us like this?”! So this is the purpose of Today.
God is our Father and He is proud of His Son, Jesus! God is our Father and he is proud of whom He made us to be! And God is proud of our behavior when we are faithful to HIM, but God is proud of whom we are regardless of our behavior!
I know this because I am not perfect! But I know my heart just loves God so much that I want to be faithful to HIM. I respect Whom God Is, but still as a child, I test those boundaries sometimes and it is here that I see God’s tender & loving, yet firm and always Right hand redirect me, because of love and a greater knowledge that He has of just how far I could stray away. So God is calling us home and keeping us in line, but we just need to open our eyes and mind and heart to allow him to speak … & listen to hear His voice! Read in the Train Whistle, Sounding the Call of God’s Love: when the Spirit reminded me, “just what do you think you will get if you give up? Are you going to give up on God?” That was all I needed to change my stubborn, pride-filled mind off of how this situation was directly affecting me & back on to simply respecting God for whom He IS!
If you get nothing else out of this today, please know that God loves you just the way you are! It is Jesus whom makes you pure from all sins and God doesn’t expect you to be perfect ~ He loves you just the way you are! However, God does expect us to learn from His Word and learn about His ways to become more like His Son, Jesus with each day that God calls Today!
Today is a good day to begin a brand new day with God regardless of where you are in your relationship with Him! You know because, Like I have said in the Train Whistle, the only guarantee that we have for tomorrow is from the choices that we make in Today!
In addition, I truly believe that God could care less about what happened yesterday, He just knows we need to understand that yesterday is for our experiential training to live better in Today! Shed quilt for sure and move forward and upward with your head held high, because the good news is that God so loved “you” that He sent His only begotten Son, that if you just believe, you shall not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16) and read on in Scripture, because God did send Jesus for us; and as Jesus come for us, He certainly did not come to condemn us, but to teach us about a choice that God has offered us when we had no choice! Jesus come, died and rose to give us the offer of life…and yes…we are called to begin this life Today, as soon as we choose to hear God’s voice and obey, but there is more! Jesus offers us a choice Today and for all eternity …when we had no choice to make!
Our choices in [where we place our faith] reflect [who we
have chosen to be], but not who we are to God! God sees us as his child needing a Father! He has not sent us out [to grow up in this world] unequipped! God has loved us from the beginning; and we are equipped in Jesus for more than we understand! God has loved us so much that Jesus has accomplished our Reconciliation with God! Did you know that you are anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit when you first believe in Jesus Christ as God’s holy Son who redeemed you from your sins to bring you in the presence of God?
To close, remember [to understand from God] all things you do not know, which means that God will bring you understanding and you will trust Him until you understand! God is proud of you as His child [even as you
are stuck in your sins], but it is the sin that God hates…not you! God loves you (insert your name) so much that HE did send Jesus for you, but the choice is in our (insert your name) personal hand! You are worthy to come to Jesus just as you are, because God is proud of your heart … the part of you that never dies and the part of you that is equipped to be made perfect regardless of your mistakes!
I will refer you to Scripture now to meditate on with God to gain your personal Revelation Knowledge that is fitting in your life! Perhaps, God will open a door for you to share your story? …My faith believes He will! God knows your story and God knows your heart…Come to Jesus and believe God’s Word! Don’t let pride stand in your way! Don’t let anyone’s opinion speak louder to you than God’s personal voice … Don’t let fear or pride stop you from believing or changing your ways!
God’s Wisdom will not leave you double minded about wanting God’s help to change! (see James)
Proud of behavior simply means that God is pleased with our choice to be faithful to His every Word that has been spoken to us and given to us to know! God is pleased when we choose to sacrifice our time just to show up to learn His word and God is well pleased when we are obedient to our purpose in which God has called us to!
Matthew 3:17
New King James Version (NKJV)
17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
I will leave you with Luke 15:11-32
The Parable of the Lost Son … Could this be you in your relationship with our Father in Heaven?
21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
Please read the entire message and it concludes with how much a Father unconditionally loves their child…regardless of where they have been or what they have done… a Father is proud of whom their child is, because a Father knows the heart of his child …and waits for them to come home to them and be blessed…
31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”
It has been such a blessing to me to have been up with God this morning hearing what He has had to say; I hope this will be a blessing to you too, because when we listen, we will know that God is always near … sometimes we just have to persevere to learn something through life experience, which reminds our “prideful” heart that we simply need God!
Love is not proud or rude … (study 1 Corinthians 13 and learn how to apply love to your life!) God is love and God loves us just the way we are ~
Today is a good day to come home or draw nearer to God!
God is Love! God loves you unconditionally; accepting who you are (flaws and all), because we can’t change alone! It is Jesus who has accomplished for us [all
we need] through the power that is in God’s blood that has been shed for us through His Son, Jesus, who is the Christ, the Son of the Living God!
God desires your love for Him to be returned, but He loves you regardless if you return the love that He has given; or reject Him and walk away alone…God still loves you. This is true love!
Revelation knowledge: Don’t worry about yesterday, Shed guilt & simply repent and learn from your mistakes; don’t fret about tomorrow, God’s got that covered! Today is a good day to enjoy a brand New day that God has called Today!
Be blessed in all you do in your comings and your goings … smiles!
Love in Christ,
Karen Rowe …

From Dr. Joe’s Medicine Bag
Don’t be Among the Third
A third of the world’s adults are physically inactive, and the couch potato lifestyle kills about five million people every year, experts said in a recent article in the medical journal The Lancet.
“Roughly three of every 10 individuals aged 15 years or older – about 1.5 billion people – do not reach present physical activity recommendations,” they said in a report that described the problem as a “pandemic.”
The picture for adolescents is even more worrying, with four out of five 13 to 15 year olds not moving enough, it said.
Physical inactivity was described as failing to do 30 minutes of moderate physical activity five times a week, 20 minutes of vigorous activity three times a week, or a combination of the two.
Inactivity increases with age, is higher in women than in men, and more prevalent in high-income countries, the researchers found.
A second study, comparing physical activity levels with population statistics on diseases like diabetes, heart problems and cancer, said lack of exercise claimed more than 5.3 million of the 57 million deaths worldwide in 2008. It said inactivity was a risk factor comparable to smoking or obesity.
Lack of exercise causes an estimated six percent of coronary heart disease cases, seven percent of type 2 diabetes (the most common form) and 10 percent of breast and colon cancers, it said.
Reducing inactivity by 10% could eliminate more than half a million deaths every year, the report said, adding that the estimates were conservative.
The human body needs exercise to help the bones, muscles, heart and other organs function optimally, but populations are walking, running and cycling less and less as they spend more time in cars and in front of computers, the investigators said.
The Lancet series called for global efforts to promote physical exercise by improving pedestrian and cyclist safety on city roads, for example, more physical education at school or promoting access to free public exercise spaces. But I say that “the Church” needs to first call upon the believers to move more and sit less…it’s just that easy IF you understand that the body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit and it too needs to be taken proper care of in order to be a blessing to itself and others.
