I was sharing with a young parent in his mid 20’s how precious these times are with his 3 children……..Oh my Oh my! I was telling him how I miss our kids…..people say oh I skype…yes, not the same as having them in the house. Looking at the picture of Jackson reminds me why I do what I do……Be salt and Light so that our Children and their children can have a better world.

Let us pray for Leticia Salinas as she is having pain in her first pregnancy. Please keep her in your prayers.

Last night we covered the debate on Facebook……many of you followed our coverage. At the same time son Lars was installing a recording program on my computer and our microphone arrived yesterday so we are getting closer to having our broadcasts on the www,fggam.org web site. I have learned to be patient on all this, so stand by for details. I sure missed being on air last night.

The President was exposed last night without his teleprompter. No 30 second sound bites last night, the President was completely exposed… and as I was watching him stumble and grasp for words and details, I wondered how did this man ever get elected? Because people didn’t pay attention to the details and Christians did not turn out to vote! At one point when Romney and Obama where discussing business issues, Romney stated after Obama had mumbled, jumbled something, Romney said, ” I have been in business 25 years and I have no idea what you just said.” Very clear last night that the President is over his head and has survived on a teleprompter and staged events and 30 sec sound bites.Obama lost in the first 3 minutes last night and Biden will show poorly in the VP debate. Romney will have to be prepared for a desperate Obama in the next debate after such a poor showing…..You need to make sure and vote! You need to know the details and Romney poured them out last night the best you can in limited time. This was the best showing of a Republican candidate for President since Ronald Reagan. Romney is very focused like any good businessman on what he is going to do to turn around the Country. Obama is still telling fairy tales.

As the first presidential debate takes place tonight and we draw nearer the November 6th election there are probably more differences between the two parties than any other time in history. Regardless of what your political affiliation is it would be a huge mistake to believe that things will be pretty much the same regardless of who wins. Life will be vastly different for the next four years under one party than it will under the other party. My strong advice to the members of MPCC and to all the faithful believers that are my friends on Facebook is that you take the time to diligently look at the difference between our two candidates and that you take the time, in particular, to discover what they believe and practice when it comes the the social issues that impact four faith and convictions. I’m talking about issues like freedom of religion (as opposed to freedom from religion), the sanctity of life, the sanctity of marriage as it is presented and taught in the Scriptures. While I’m concerned about our economy, the rising cost of health care, the size of government, taxes, immigration, etc. my spiritual conscience is deeply concerned about the need to return to our national heritage, which is to say, return to the Bible when it comes to our future. And I can say with integrity that these issues take precedence over any loyalty I have to one particular party. This is not about Republicans or Democrats for me, it’s about one nation under God. Study the candidates/issues, be informed and vote your conscience…your spiritual conscience.

Karen Rowe of Hope In Today Ministries posted this yesterday.it’s excellent. I talked with Karen yesterday as we prepare to fly out to Efland, North Carolina next week for the Revival she and her husband Ron are hosting! Please keep this revival in your prayers! Karen shared with me, even a gambling hall in Efland has a poser in their window promoting the Revival!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me share with you this morning again from the writings of Pastor Steve Hickey. WOW! Does he hit another Grand Slam homerun!

I get asked a lot about people’s salvation and what they do with it.I get asked a lot about people NOT being filled with the Holy Spirit………

This is taken from Pastor Steve’s book, Obtainable Expectations A Timely Exposition Of The Sermon On The Mount. I strongly encourage you to read this book and get your Pastor a copy!

Pastor Steve talks about going the second mile..I have shared that here on the CUP. Matt 5:41 If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

He writes….”Religion” is the Magnificent Mile. Walk in religion and you will be content with “magnificence.” If religion can satisfy you with “magnificence,” then keep your witness away from the rest of the world. Mile two, the miracle mile, springs forth when we press beyond ourselves and beyond what we are obligated to do. Only then do we successfully resist the resistance and deception of the Spirit of Religion. The Spirit of Religion has a magic trick when it comes to miles one and two.

Certainly you have seen the Magician pull a rabbit out of a hat. Everyone loves that hat trick. Right before your eyes they place a handkerchief in the hat, and yet they pull our a rabbit. Likewise, the Spirit of Religion, and the high priests of the Spirit of Religion, swap the miraculous with the magnificent. We are so wowed by the grandeur that we never notice God left. Religion vainly seeks to manipulate God through magic, ritual and tradition. The magicians of Egypt mimicked the power of God; by grace, Moses walked in the power of God!

I get asked a lot about when people are baptized…that the Church needs to be better at helping raise up people that have just entered the Kingdom……not just baptize them, but be a Mentor to them, help guide them in their new life. Many get caught up in the Baptism, but then do not stay alongside them.

Here is what Pastor Steve Hickey writes on Salvation…….

Salvation is a wonderful thing and I do not mean to diminish or disparage it in any way by saying it belongs in the mile-one. (Pastor Steve as I had shared in a previous CUP stated that mile one is salvation when our progress into the Kingdom seems to stop shortly after saying the sinner’s prayer. Mile Two is the filling and empowering of the Holy Spirit launching us into a lost world!)
Pastor Hickey says, his desire here is to make a point regarding how so many are saved but not yet converted. They make it to the alter, their sins are forgiven and they seem to make it no further. The journey we call the Christian Life simply becomes a destination one arrives at when they ask Jesus into their hearts, when in truth that significant step is just step one of the Christian life.

AMEN! It is our duty in our LORD to help people move to the second mile!

It is a very bad time in New Mexico for finding a job.and it seems to be getting works. So pray for them and their children that we can show Christ’s love to them.

Regular Consumption of Sugary Beverages Linked to Increased Genetic Risk of Obesity Researchers from Harvard School of Public Health have found that greater consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) is linked with a greater genetic susceptibility to high body mass index (BMI) and increased risk of obesity. The study reinforces the view that environmental and genetic factors may act together to shape obesity risk. The study appears Sept. 21 in an advance online edition of the New England Journal of Medicine. “Our study for the first time provides reproducible evidence from three prospective cohorts to show genetic and dietary factors – sugar-sweetened beverages – may mutually influence their effects on body weight and obesity risk. The findings may motivate further research on interactions between genomic variation and environmental factors regarding human health,” said Lu Qi, assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition at HSPH and senior author of the study. In the past three decades, consumption of SSBs has increased dramatically worldwide. Although widespread evidence supports a link between SSBs, obesity and chronic diseases such as diabetes, there has been little research on whether environmental factors, such as drinking sugary beverages, influence genetic predisposition to obesity. The research was based on data from three large cohorts, 121,700 women in the Nurses’ Health Study, 51,529 men in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study and 25,000 in the Women’s Genome Health Study. All of the participants had completed food-frequency questionnaires detailing their food and drink consumption over time. The researchers analyzed data from 6,934 women from NHS, 4,423 men from HPFS, and 21,740 women from WGHS who were of European ancestry and for whom genotype data based on genome-wide association studies were available. Participants were divided into four groups according to how many sugary drinks they consumed: less than one serving of SSB per month, between 1-4 servings per month, between 2-6 servings per week, and one or more servings per day. To represent the overall genetic predisposition, a genetic predisposition score was calculated on the basis of the 32 single-nucleotide polymorphisms known to be associated with BMI (weight in kilograms divided by the square of the height in meters). The results showed that the genetic effects on BMI and obesity risk among those who drank one or more SSBs per day were about twice as large as those who consumed less than one serving per month. The findings suggest that regular consumption of sugary beverages may amplify the genetic risk of obesity. In addition, individuals with greater genetic predisposition to obesity appear to be more susceptible to harmful effects of SSBs on BMI. “SSBs are one of the driving forces behind the obesity epidemic,” says Frank Hu, professor of nutrition and epidemiology at HSPH and a coauthor of this study. “The implication of our study is that the genetic effects of obesity can be offset by healthier food and beverage choices.” Bottom line here folks is DON’T drink sugary beverages if you value your health! www.DrJoeFawcett.com Thanks Doctor Joe! Make sure you have not been buying into the placebo that the world has been offering you. The confessing and believing church, at every point, runs counter to the cultural tidal wave. Those words are written by Pastor Steve Hickey. I was asked yesterday how people can support non-biblical candidates. It is because people, many in the church buy into the placebo that the world is offering them. Luke 23:34, And Jesus prayed, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

This is really the fault of the Body of Christ, the Church lost it’s voice because we allowed it. We must not give up and we must be the Salt and Light and carry our the Great Commission and occupy until Jesus returns. That is what we are called to do, let your light shine, don’t put it under a table!

It should be alarming to us that we lack Biblical candidates running for office. I remember growing up in Christian Radio and my Boss Ed Moore would point out to us the Biblical candidates running for office. Look around who is running for local, state, and national office, not many Biblical candidates, and by that I mean that the Bible is their life. Many can talk a good talk, but few are walking the talk. We must hold up Biblical candidates like David Standridge running for Judge and others like him and as Pastor Tom Bozone of Rock Rio said on Dewey and Friends, “We must get Biblical people to run for office.”

Pastor Steve Hickey of South Dakota is in the State Legislature, and what a leader he is! South Dakota is a leader in the sanctity of life movement! Standing in the gap for God! We need more Pastor’s like Steve Hickey! BOLD MEN FOR GOD!!!

Now just another thing the Lord has put on my heart……let your light shine…..Facebook has been an excellent Ministry tool for us………at the same time, like anything else it is abused by so called Christians. My heart aches for people who call themselves Christians and even some friends of mine on the hate they spew forth on Facebook or the bad language. You may be the only Bible someone meets, God knows what you post.

The World watches Christians…….what is your example, testimony that you show everyday?

That is part of the reason we are in the mess we are in, by the mixed messages so called Christians send to the world.

I have a prayer need…. yesterday my left eye started to pain me and fill with crud and now spreading to the right eye. Thank YOU LORD that I can still see and do the CUP! Sharon thinks it could be pink eye, I have been fighting a virus for over a week now. It started with my nursing home visits.

Pray for Becky Franks, the wife of Pastor Ray Franks. Becky is in much, much pain.

I was wondering if you would pray for this young girl named, Hailey Ratliff. She use to live here in Albuquerque, and was on my daughter’s volleyball team, the Mustangs. Anyway her family moved out to California. Last week, as she was riding her bike home from school, she was hit by an SUV and died. Hailey was only 12.
Pray for healing for her parents and her siblings.

(person)-I didn’t mean it. (God)—Well, at least you’re admitting it. But it’s not much fun carrying that load of bitterness around inside, is it? (person)-No. But I’ll feel better as soon as I get even. Boy, have I got some plans for that neighbor. She’ll wish she had never moved into this neighborhood. (God)—You won’t feel any better. You’ll feel worse. Revenge isn’t sweet. Think of how unhappy you already are. But I can change all that. (person)-You can? How? (God)—Forgive Ann. Then I’ll forgive you. Then the hate and sin will be Ann’s problem and not yours. You will have settled your heart. (person)-Oh, you’re right. You always are. And more than I want to revenge Ann, I want to be right with you….(pause)…(sigh). All right. All right. I forgive her. Help her to find the right road in life, Lord. She’s bound to be awfully miserable now that I think about it. Anybody who goes around doing the things she does to others has to be out of it. Someway, somehow, show her the right way. (God)—There now! Wonderful! How do you feel? (person)-Hmmm. Well, not bad. Not bad at all. In fact, I feel pretty great! You know, I don’t think I’ll have to go to bed uptight tonight for the first time since I can remember. Maybe I won’t be so tired from now on because I’m not getting enough rest. (God)—You’re not through with your prayer. Go on. (person)-Oh, all right. “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” (God)—Good! Good! I’ll do that. Just don’t put yourself in a place where you can be tempted. (person)-What do you mean by that? (God)—Don’t turn on the TV when you know the laundry needs to be done and the house needs to be picked up. Also, about the time you spend coffee-ing with your friends, if you can’t influence the conversation to positive things, perhaps you should re-think the value of those friendships. Another thing, your neighbors and friends shouldn’t be your standard for “keeping up”. And please don’t use me for an escape hatch. (person)-I don’t understand the last part. (God)—Sure you do. You’ve done it a lot of times. You get caught in a bad situation. You get into trouble and then you come running to me, “Lord, help me out of this mess, and I promise you I’ll never do it again.” You remember some of those bargains you tried to make with me? (person)-Yes, and I’m ashamed, Lord. I really am. (God)—Which bargain are you remembering? (person)-Well, there was the night that the children and I were home alone. The wind was blowing so hard I thought the roof would go any minute and tornado warnings were out. I remember praying, “Oh, God, if you spare us, I’ll never skip my devotions again.” (God) –Did you? (person)-I’m sorry, Lord, I really am. Up until now I thought that if I just prayed the Lord’s Prayer every day, then I could do what I liked. I didn’t expect anything to happen like it did. (God)—Go ahead and finish your prayer. (person)-“For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.” Amen (God)—Do you know what would bring me glory? What would really make me happy? (person)-No, but I’d like to know. I want now to please you. I can see what a mess I’ve made of my life. And I can see how great it would be to really be one of your followers. (God)—You just answered the question. (person)-I did? (God)—Yes. The thing that would bring me glory is to have people like you truly love me. And I see that happening between us. Now that some of these old sins are exposed and out of the way, well, there is no telling what we can do together. (person) – Lord, let’s see what we can make of me, OK? Amen!

People often ask me what I do with my time and efforts. As I did yesterday, I usually spend my “day off” thinking of and praying for these kids. God gave each sponsored child into our care. With joy in my heart I tell people that since April 2001, I have given a huge portion of my life and resources to the poorest of the poor children in the Philippines. When I finish telling them, people are usually stunned and speechless but have a smile on their faces. I ask them pray for our ministry. To have this ministry is a dream come true. Each day of my life, I pray for the 600+ children and their 20+ dedicated pastors. That is why my heart is broken (I believe like Jesus) when I see or hear of our children being so hungry they cannot learn effectively. So many things have gone well lately, you’re afraid it is time for something to go wrong. Don’t think that way. Keep your thoughts positive. Don’t expect something to go badly. Sometimes what you fear comes upon you and you don’t want to be expecting the negative. Why not expect the positive and see what happens? It will be something to learn. When you think positively, you tend to act positively. When you think negatively, you act negatively. Think of going from glory to glory. If your mind drifts toward the negative, rein it in. Bring it into obedience and think of My goodness, My blessings and the fruit of My Spirit.
