Rep. Espinoza Disappointed with Tabling of HB 118
( Santa Fe , NM ) – Rep. Nora Espinoza (R-Chaves, Lincoln, Otero-59) expressed her disappointment that House Bill 118: Marriage Defined was tabled in the Consumer and Public Affairs committee today. The bill was tabled by a 5-2 party line vote.
“This is a backwards step for New Mexico families. I am extremely disappointed the Consumer and Public Affairs committee chose not to take a stand for family values and vote to allow this bill to be debated on the House floor,” remarked Rep. Espinoza. “We had the chance to show the rest of the nation that New Mexico believes in traditional marriage and we fell short of that today. I urge voters to contact their representative and tell them it was wrong for this bill to be tabled.”
HB 118 would define marriage between one man and one woman.
