A pastor from Ecuador spoke and his message was we all need to be DAVID’s and persevere!!! His sermon was AWESOME! We need to face the GAINTS! Our Lord is with us! I think I left my notes at the Church.so sorry, but the Pastor knows the Moore family who I worked for many years in Indiana. Ed Moore mentored me in Christian radio. Ed’s Dad Clarence Moore helped start HCJB Radio in Ecuador. Parents are selling their daughters…..just 13 to 14 years of age for prostitution. Poverty is a huge problem in Ecuador. I want to have the Pastor on my show before he goes back home.

I spoke at the Senior’s lunch afterwards, as Heights honored it 55 plus folks for their outstanding faithfulness to God and the Church.
We had some fun going back in history to 1940 when a new home cost $3,920.00………..gas was 11 cents a gallon……….average cost of a new car was $950.00…………the neat thing was several KNEW what the price was for gas back then!

This next Sunday Sharon and I travel to Milan, NM to speak at Immanuel Baptist Church. Pastor Garland Moore is such a dear friend! We look forward to this Sunday so much!!!

Here is an update on Pastor Don Kimbro………Pastor Mark Scales said Don was to be released Sunday afternoon from the hospital and he was doing great! PRAISE GOD!!

Tim Gunn is showing improvements today. Thank you for keeping him in your prayers. I know that God is watching over him and it is amazing how many people believe in God and miracles.

Thank you for your prayers for KKIM’s Frank Haley, just 2 weeks after hip replacement he is back at work doing the news today!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!

Tuesday is Veterans Day……….We salute all those who have and are serving our Country!

On Tuesday, November 11, Americans honor military veterans with parades and speeches. However, all year long, volunteers with the Veterans History Project honor the men and women who served in our military by listening and recording their military stories.

When the Veterans History Project started in 2000, the push was to interview any remaining World War I veterans. That generation has passed and the emphasis now is to interview as many WWII veterans as possible. However, the Veterans History Project interviews anyone who has served in the military up to the present time as well as those who worked in defense-related endeavors.

Veterans History Project volunteers help preserve pieces of history. Some veterans have never before told their story and are touched when someone cares enough to listen. Dedicated volunteers hear history firsthand.

The Library of Congress American Folklore Center archives the audio recordings and related documents. In our state, The Veterans History Project also sends a copy of all materials to the New Mexico Veterans Memorial, Museum & Conference Center. Of the 60,000 interviews across our nation, the group of fewer than twenty New Mexico volunteers at Albuquerque Oasis have conducted between 250 and 300 interviews. Lee Courtnage, himself a veteran, has done about half of these interviews. Courtnage also trains and encourages other interviewers and makes presentations on behalf of the program to veterans groups and other organizations. When asked what motivates him to be involved with the Veterans History Project, Courtnage said, “These guys sacrificed so much for our country, and it’s a privilege to be able to capture those moments. I get personal satisfaction in being able to preserve the military story for future generations. WW-II veterans are now in their 80’s and 90’s so preserving their oral histories are critical. Tom Brokaw called our WW-II veterans members of the Greatest Generation.”

Billy Graham would love to pray with President elect Obama……………

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Billy Graham has counseled every American president since Dwight Eisenhower. But the evangelist known for his globe-trotting crusades has no plans to mentor Barack Obama, though his son did say his father would like to meet the president-elect and pray with him.
Graham turned 90 on Friday. His son, the Rev. Franklin Graham, told The Associated Press that Billy Graham’s mind remains sharp even as his body continues to fail.
Billy Graham still remains engaged in the planning and direction of the ministry he founded, but his days as a pastor to presidents have faded.
“My father feels like his time and day for that is over,” Franklin Graham said. “But he would certainly like to meet (Obama) and pray with him.”
About 160 of Billy Graham’s family and friends celebrated his birthday Friday at his home in Montreat with fried chicken, barbecue and sweet tea. His ministry had received some 100,000 greetings, including a video from President Bush.
His health contrasts starkly with his days commanding a ministry that put him behind the pulpit to speak with 215 million people in more than 185 countries and placed him in the confidence of some of the world’s most powerful people.
Billy Graham’s views are still respected in White House circles. Republican presidential candidate John McCain called on Graham at his mountainside home during the campaign, and Obama tried to meet him but was unable to due to the preacher’s poor health.
Though never partisan in his preaching, Billy Graham is a registered Democrat.
His son expressed concern about Obama’s views on abortion and gay marriage — an issue Franklin Graham raised in a meeting with the Illinois senator — saying that he and is father are conservatives who believe the Bible speaks clearly on those issues.
“President-elect Obama heard our position,” said Franklin Graham, who now heads the Charlotte-based Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. “And I told him that this was very difficult for us and hard for us. It’s a moral issue that we just can’t back down on.”
Obama favors abortion rights, and does not support a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. He supports civil unions and believes states should decide their own laws about marriage.
Meanwhile, Billy Graham’s health remains a concern among family and friends, who note he still struggles with the loss of his wife, Ruth, who died last year.
He was hospitalized last year for nearly two weeks after experiencing intestinal bleeding, and he has also had prostate cancer. Earlier this year, he had elective surgery to update a shunt that controls excess fluid on his brain. The shunt was first installed in 2000 and drains fluid from through a small tube, relieving excess pressure that can cause symptoms similar to Parkinson’s disease.
“He could catch a cold and his life could come to an end,” Franklin Graham said. “At his age, any little thing could be a serious event. We realize that.”
Despite his limitations he still has one thing: a booming voice.
This weekend, that voice will once again cross borders when a message dubbed in Portuguese will be broadcast in Brazil in an effort to bring some 1 million new believers into the fold.
And privately, he has been working on a book about aging, trying to put his late-life lessons into context for those soon to follow him.
“He’s always been ready to die,” Franklin Graham said. “But nobody’s prepared him for getting old.”

Evangelicals Need To Try New Path

When Barack Obama takes the oath of office on Jan. 2o, 2009, he will do so in the 30th anniversary year of the founding of the so-called Religious Right. Born in 1979 and midwifed by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, the Religious Right was a reincarnation of previous religious-social movements that sought moral improvement through legislation and court rulings. Those earlier movements—from abolition (successful) to Prohibition (unsuccessful) —had mixed results.

Social movements that relied mainly on political power to enforce a conservative moral code weren’t anywhere near as successful as those that focused on changing hearts. The four religious revivals, from the First Great Awakening in the 1730s and 1740s to the Fourth Great Awakening in the late 1960s and early ‘70s, which touched America and instantly transformed millions of Americans (and American culture as a result), are testimony to that.

Thirty years of trying to use government to stop abortion, preserve opposite-sex marriage, improve television and movie content and transform culture into the conservative Evangelical image has failed. The question now becomes: should conservative Christians redouble their efforts, contribution more millions to radio and TV preachers and activists, or would they be wise to try something else?

I opt for trying something else.

Too many conservative Evangelicals have put too much faith in the power of government to transform culture. The futility inherent in such misplaced faith can be demonstrated by asking these activists a simple question: Does the secular left, when it holds power, persuade conservatives to live by their standards? Of course they do not. Why, then, would conservative Evangelicals expect people who do not share their world-view and view of God to accept their beliefs when they control government?

Too many conservative Evangelicals mistake political power for influence Politicians who struggle with imposing a moral code on themselves are unlikely to succeed in their attempts to impose it on others. What is the answer, then, for conservative Evangelicals who are rightly concerned about the corrosion of culture, the indifference to the value of human life and the living arrangements of same- and opposite-sex couples?

The answer depends on the response to another question: do conservative Evangelicals want to feel good, or do they want to adopt a strategy that actually produces results? Clearly, partisan politics have not achieved their objectives. Do they think they can succeed by committing themselves to 30 more years of the same?

If results are what conservative Evangelicals want, they already have a model. It is contained in the life and commands of Jesus of Nazareth. Suppose millions of
conservative Evangelicals engaged in an old and proven type of radical behavior. Suppose they followed the admonition of Jesus to “love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit those in prison and care for widows and orphans,” not as ends, and so many liberals do by using government, but as a means of demonstrating God’s love for the whole person in order that people might seek Him?

Such a strategy could be more “transformational” than electing a new president, even the first president of color. But in order to succeed, such a strategy would not be led by charismatic figures, who would raise lots of money, be interviewed on Sunday talk shows, author books and make gobs of money.

God teaches in His Word that His power (if that is what conservative Evangelicals want and not their puny attempts at grabbing earthly power) is made perfect in weakness. He speaks of the tiny mustard seed, the seemingly worthless widow’s mite, of taking the last place at the table and the humbling of one’s self, the washing of feet and similar acts and attitudes; the still, small voice. How did conservative Evangelicals miss this and instead settle for a lesser power, which in reality is no power at all? When did they settle for an inferior “kingdom”?

Evangelicals are at a junction. They can take the path that will lead them to more futility and ineffective attempts to reform culture through government, or they can embrace the far more powerful methods outlined by the One they claim to follow. By following His example, they will decrease, but He will increase. They will get no credit, but they will see results. If conservative Evangelicals choose obscurity and seek to glorify God, they will get much of what they hope for, but can never achieve, in and through politics.

Today you are referencing from one of my favorite books of the Bible – Job. I don’t know how many times I have read that book. I can read it in an evening. It has helped me so much.
