Dear Family of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Please pray for Marv Boone and his lovely wife Shirley and family. The Doctor’s have given Marv no more than 2 weeks to live. I talked to Shirley a couple of hours ago and they are moving Marv into hospice care. Marv and Shirley are such a Godly love story. Please be in constant pray for them.

I am brewing a CUP for you on FRIENDSHIP, it is brewing…….it stems from our visit last night and this morning with Craig and Anita Price of Sidney, Montana. We have not seen each other in years! Very best friends! They helped me get settled in Sidney when I started my radio career there 35 years ago now! I have never forgotten the love of Jesus they showed this young guy who came out west to start his radio gig. It’s also where I fell in love with Billy Graham, as I played his program on my Sunday shift, reel to reel tapes in those days! I worked almost 7 days a week in those days…….kind’a like now! LOL Some things don’t change! I love it! I will be posting on friendship, Lord Willing in the morning .Please pray for Craig and Anita as they drive home to Sidney.

I also got a call this morning from one of my friends Bill White from Valley View Christian Church! What a wonderful blessing to get a call from Bill, just checking in and seeing how we were doing. I miss him and the guys at Bible Study, have not been out there in awhile! Many, many friends at Valley View, a very special place in my heart!

You can see a genuine love for your friends if you are willing to love them enough to die for them. I praise Jesus every day because He loved me that much. I encourage you to praise Him every day also, for He loved the whole world enough to die for us all, so that we all could be called sons and daughters of God. Praise His Holy Name! May you strive to stay on the narrow path as you live a life worthy of the calling. God bless you!

Paul Holt has been selected by NASA for a new experiment in reaching outer space. NASA announced this morning that Paul Holt of FGGAM will be doing is radio program ‘The Is The World We Live In’ from the Antenna Array, 27 radio antennas, which is 50 miles west of Socorro, NM. NASA sees the need for the entire Universe to hear Pastor Paul’s message this Sunday. Pastor Paul is so touched by this honor that he is speechless at this time. He has refereed all interview requests to his Press Secretary, Honey.

Has God Told You This Season Is Over?
If you remain in that season and God has called you out of, things that were once easily done will become a bit of a struggle, even very difficult.
Do you notice that?
I love telling my testimony!

Part of it is, hearing God’s call on your life………..

Most of you all know what fun I have had playing and coaching softball! I have been doing it now for about 12 years, 8 with Heights Christian. On the way to Reserve two weeks ago, God said, “no more”, “That season is over!” I said, “WOW! God, I love playing and coaching!” God said, “It is over for now son.”

WOW! I always love it when God speaks so clearly! I have to tell you that you need to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to know your calling, to know where God wants you. This can not happen without that close relationships with God. You will not hear Him, you will hear other voices, like your own, a friends, or satan himself.

I tell you that for 5 to 6 months God was telling me my season at KKIM was over, but I drug my feet and things that were once easily done, became a struggle because I was not listening to God, I was out of alignment with Him. I was listening to my own voice!

When I finally made the move to establish FGGAM, I was once again in alignment with God.

You also need Holy Spirit filled people around you to help guide you! Amen!

I see everyday, people making decisions without God, hearing themselves (self will) and not God, or being aligned with unGodly people or worse yet, satan.

So when God told me my season of softball was over, I drug my feet again, BUT NOT AS LONG! PRAISE GOD! God gives us much, much joy, but He may turn off that ballgame in a second and say that is over! I have other plans for you my son, listen and I will guide you.

Is it not wonderful to HEAR GOD!

My friend I tell you if you are not hearing from God, something is out of alignment and the Chiropractor cannot put it back in alignment, only God and you!

You may be loving something so much today, but God may have been calling you out of it for weeks and months, but because you have put that thing first and not Him, you are not hearing from God.

It’s all about God and the calling he has for you!

You and I may think we have the greatest idea in the world, if God is not at the center, it will fail. Oh, it may succeed for weeks, months, a couple of years or more, but it will fail in the long run.

Here is a great write up by Jack Zarada on this subject:

Finding your calling in life can be a source of great anxiety. We put it right up there with knowing God’s will or learning our true purpose in life.
Part of the confusion comes about because some people use these terms interchangeably, while others define them in specific ways. Things get muddled even more when we throw in the words vocation, ministry and career.
We can sort things out if we accept this basic definition of calling: “A calling is God’s personal, individual invitation to carry out the unique task he has for you.”
That sounds simple enough. But how do you know when God is calling you, and is there any way you can be sure you’re doing the task he has assigned you?
The First Part of Your Calling
Before you can discover God’s calling for you specifically, you must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus offers salvation to every person, and he wants to have an intimate friendship with each of his followers, but God reveals a calling only to those who accept him as their Savior.
This may put many people off, but Jesus himself said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6, NIV)
Throughout your life, God’s calling for you will bring great challenges, often distress and frustration. You can’t succeed at this task on your own. Only through the constant guidance and help of the Holy Spirit will you be able to carry out your God-appointed mission. A personal relationship with Jesus guarantees that the Holy Spirit will live within you, giving you power and direction.
Unless you are born again, you’ll be guessing at what your calling is. You’ll rely on your own wisdom, and you’ll be wrong.
Your Job is Not Your Calling
You may be surprised to learn that your job is not your calling, and here’s why. Most of us change jobs during the course of our life. We may even change careers. If you’re in a church-sponsored ministry, even that ministry can end. We will all retire some day. Your job is not your calling, no matter how much it may allow you to serve other people.
Your job is an instrument that helps you carry out your calling. A mechanic may have tools that help him change a set of spark plugs, but if those tools break or get stolen, he gets another set so he can get back to work. Your job may be closely wrapped up in your calling or it may not. Sometimes all your job does is put food on the table, which gives you the freedom to go about your calling in a separate area.
We often use our job or career to measure our success. If we make a lot of money, we consider ourselves successful. But God is not concerned with money. He is concerned with how you’re doing at the task he has given you.
As you’re playing your part in advancing the kingdom of heaven, you may be financially rich or poor. You may be just getting by in paying your bills, but God will give you everything you need to accomplish your calling.
Here’s the important thing to remember: Jobs and careers come and go. Your calling, your God-appointed mission in life, stays with you until the moment you are called home to heaven.
How Can You Be Sure of God’s Calling?
Do you open your mailbox one day and find a mysterious letter with your calling written on it? Is God’s calling spoken to you in a booming voice from heaven, telling you exactly what to do? How do you discover it? How can you be sure of it?
Any time we want to hear from God, the method is the same: praying, reading the Bible, meditating, talking with godly friends, and patient listening.
God equips each of us with unique spiritual gifts to help us in our calling. A good list is found in Romans 12:6-8 (NIV):
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”
We don’t recognize our calling overnight; rather, God reveals it to us gradually over the years. As we use our talents and gifts to serve others, we discover certain types of works that feel right. They bring us a deep sense of fulfillment and happiness. They feel so natural and good that we know this is what we were meant to do.
Sometimes we can put God’s calling into words, or it may be as simple as saying, “I feel led to help people.”
Jesus said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” (Mark 10:45, NIV).
If you take that attitude, you’ll not only discover your calling, but you’ll do it passionately for the rest of your life.

One of my best friends ever, 83 year old Marv Boone, radio legend, for years the news voice of Cleveland and at WFRN radio in South Bend/Elkhart, Indiana, lays in a hospital bed this morning fighting for his life. He suffered a stroke about 2 weeks ago now. Marv’s wife Shirley shared with me a poem Marv wrote for her on New Years Day of this year………………

Shirley cried while reading this poem to me over the phone……tears of a precious and treasured marriage.
And that is what I pray over my and your marriage today……the love Marv and Shirley share in our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am as Patriotic as they come, having been born on July 4th!!

Each year I am hired to go to Washington, DC, with the eighth grade class from Clinton, Wisconsin, where I grew up, to videotape their trip. I greatly enjoy visiting our nation’s capital, and each year I take some special memories back with me. This fall’s trip was especially memorable.

On the last night of our trip, we stopped at the Iwo Jima Memorial. This memorial is the largest bronze statue in the world and depicts one of the most famous photographs in history — that of the six brave soldiers raising the American Flag at the top of a rocky hill on the island of Iwo Jima, Japan, during WW II.

Over one hundred students and chaperones piled off the buses and headed towards the memorial. I noticed a solitary figure at the base of the statue, and as I got closer he asked, ‘Where are you guys from?’

I told him that we were from Wisconsin . ‘Hey, I’m a cheese head, too! ‘Come gather around, Cheese heads, and I will tell you a story.’

(It was James Bradley who just happened to be in Washington, DC, to speak at the memorial the following day. He was there that night to say good night to his dad, who had passed away. He was just about to leave when he saw the buses pull up. I videotaped him as he spoke to us, and received his permission to share what he said from my videotape. It is one thing to tour the incredible monuments filled with history in Washington, DC, but it is quite another to get the kind of insight we received that night.

When all had gathered around, he reverently began to speak. (Here are his words that night.)

‘My name is James Bradley and I’m from Antigo, WI. My dad is on that statue, and I wrote a book called ‘Flags of Our Fathers’. It is the story of the six boys you see behind me.

‘Six boys raised the flag. The first guy putting the pole in the ground is Harlon Block. Harlon was an all-state football player. He enlisted in the Marine Corps with all the senior members of his football team. They were off to play another type of game. A game called ‘War.’ But it didn’t turn out to be a game. Harlon, at the age of 21, died with his intestines in his hands. I don’t say that to gross you out, I say that because there are people who stand in front of this statue and talk about the glory of war. You guys need to know that most of the boys in Iwo Jima were 17, 18, and 19 years old – and it was so hard that the ones who did make it home never even would talk to their families about it.

(He pointed to the statue) ‘You see this next guy? That’s Rene Gagnon from New Hampshire . If you took Rene’s helmet off at the moment this photo was taken and looked in the webbing of that helmet, you would find a photograph…a photograph of his girlfriend Rene put that in there for protection because he was scared. He was 18 years old. It was just boys who won the battle of Iwo Jima . Boys. Not old men.

‘The next guy here, the third guy in this tableau, was Sergeant Mike Strank. Mike is my hero. He was the hero of all these guys. They called him the ‘old man’ because he was so old. He was already 24. When Mike would motivate his boys in training camp, he didn’t say, ‘Let’s go kill some Japs’ or ‘Let’s die for our country’ He knew he was talking to little boys.. Instead he would say, ‘You do what I say, and I’ll get you home to your mothers.’

‘The last guy on this side of the statue is Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian from Arizona . Ira Hayes was one of them who lived to walk off Iwo Jima . He went into the White House with my dad. President Truman told him, ‘You’re a hero’ He told reporters, ‘How can I feel like a hero when 250 of my buddies hit the island with me and only 27 of us walked off alive?’

So you take your class at school, 250 of you spending a year together having fun, doing everything together. Then all 250 of you hit the beach, but only 27 of your classmates walk off alive. That was Ira Hayes. He had images of horror in his mind. Ira Hayes carried the pain home with him and eventually died dead drunk, face down, drowned in a very shallow puddle, at the age of 32 (ten years after this picture was taken). Jonny Cash recorded a song in his honor, The Ballad of Ira Hayes written by Peter LaFarge.

‘The next guy, going around the statue, is Franklin Sousley from Hilltop, KY. A fun-lovin’ hillbilly boy. His best friend, who is now 70, told me, ‘Yeah, you know, we took two cows up on the porch of the Hilltop General Store. Then we strung wire across the stairs so the cows couldn’t get down. Then we fed them Epsom salts. Those cows crapped all night.’ Yes, he was a fun-lovin’ hillbilly boy. Franklin died on Iwo Jima at the age of 19. When the telegram came to tell his mother that he was dead, it went to the Hilltop General Store. A barefoot boy ran that telegram up to his mother’s farm. The neighbors could hear her scream all night and into the morning. Those neighbors lived a quarter of a mile away.

‘The next guy, as we continue to go around the statue, is my dad, John Bradley, from Antigo, WI, where I was raised. My dad lived until 1994, but he would never give interviews. When Walter Cronkite’s producers or the New York Times would call, we were trained as little kids to say ‘No, I’m sorry, sir, my dad’s not here. He is in Canada fishing. No, there is no phone there, sir. No, we don’t know when he is coming back.’ My dad never fished or even went to Canada . Usually, he was sitting there right at the table eating his Campbell ‘s soup. But we had to tell the press that he was out fishing. He didn’t want to talk to the press.

‘You see, like Ira Hayes, my dad didn’t see himself as a hero. Everyone thinks these guys are heroes, ’cause they are in a photo and on a monument. My dad knew better. He was a medic. John Bradley from Wisconsin was a combat caregiver. On Iwo Jima he probably held over 200 boys as they died. And when boys died on Iwo Jima , they writhed and screamed, without any medication or help with the pain.

‘When I was a little boy, my third grade teacher told me that my dad was a hero. When I went home and told my dad that, he looked at me and said, ‘I want you always to remember that the heroes of Iwo Jima are the guys who did not come back. Did NOT come back.’

‘So that’s the story about six nice young boys. Three died on Iwo Jima , and three came back as national heroes. Overall, 7,000 boys died on Iwo Jima in the worst battle in the history of the Marine Corps. My voice is giving out, so I will end here. Thank you for your time.’

Suddenly, the monument wasn’t just a big old piece of metal with a flag sticking out of the top. It came to life before our eyes with the heartfelt words of a son who did indeed have a father who was a hero.

Maybe not a hero for the reasons most people would believe, but a hero nonetheless.

We need to remember that God created this vast and glorious world for us to live in, freely, but also at great sacrifice.

Let us never forget from the Revolutionary War to the current War on Terrorism and all the wars in-between that sacrifice was made for our freedom…please pray for our troops.

Remember to pray praises for this great country of ours and also …please pray for our troops still in murderous places around the world.

STOP and thank God for being alive and being free due to someone else’s sacrifice.

One thing I learned while on tour with my 8th grade students in DC that is not mentioned here is that if you look at the statue very closely and count the number of ‘hands’ raising the flag, there are 13. When the man who made the statue was asked why there were 13, he simply said the 13th hand was the hand of God.
