Yesterday I had such a blessing in talking to Betty Harrington of Windom, Minnesota. Betty’s son Mike just passed away onto heaven from brain cancer. I had not talked to Betty since 1977. Only by God is our relationship the same as it always has been, GODLY! Betty is such a dear, dear lady in our Lord. She has lost her husband, a daughter, a grandson and now a son. Please pray for this strong women of God! I have to say that Betty sounds like she’s 29!!!!

Two ChoicesWhat would you do?….you make the choice. Don’t look for a punch line, there isn’t one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and itsDedicated staff, he offered a question:‘When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.Where is the natural order of things in my son?’The audience was stilled by the query.The father continued. ‘I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.’Then he told the following story:Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, ‘Do you think they’ll let me play?’ I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father Ialso understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, ‘We’re losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we’ll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning..’Shay struggled over to the team’s bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt.. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay’s team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay’s team scored again.Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn’t even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball. However, as Shay stepped up to the Plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay’s life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher. The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game. Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman’s head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, ‘Shay, run to first! Run to first!’ Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled. Everyone yelled, ‘Run to second, run to second!’ Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball . The smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher’s intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman’s head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home. All were screaming, ‘Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay’ Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, ‘Run to third! Shay, run to third!’ As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, ‘Shay, run home! Run home!’ Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team ‘That day’, said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, ‘the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world’. Shay didn’t make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day! AND NOW A LITTLE FOOT NOTE TO THIS STORY: We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate. The crude, vulgar, and often obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion about decency is too often suppressed in our schools and workplaces. If you’re thinking about forwarding this message, chances are that you’re probably sorting out the people in your address book who aren’t the ‘appropriate’ ones to receive this type of message Well, the person who sent you this believes that we all can make a difference. We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the ‘natural order of things.’ So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice: Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process? A motorcade for the funeral of Rio Rancho Police Officer Anthony Haase will go through Rio Rancho starting at about 9:45am this morning and then again about noon. Our hero’s funeral will be at 10am at Santa Ana Star Center. The motorcade will leave Daniels Mortuary at Vista Verde Memorial Park at 4310 Sara Road about 9:45am. Let us be in constant prayer for the family, as Paul teaches us, and for the Rio Rancho Police Dept. It has been a horrific time for all Law Enforcement and residents of New Mexico, with Officer Haase’s death and now the shooting death of Santa Fe County Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Martin. Please keep the Martin family and the Santa Fe New Mexico County Sheriff’s Dept. in your prayers. FGGAM News just received this news release from the office of New Mexico Gov. Martinez:

Santa Fe — Governor Susana Martinez has issued an executive order for flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, October 30, 2014 in honor and mourning of Rio Rancho Police Officer Anthony Haase.
The full text of the Governor’s executive order is below:
EXECUTIVE ORDER 2014-018
FLAGS FLOWN AT HALF-STAFF IN HONOR AND MOURNING OF RIO RANCHO POLICE OFFICER ANTHONY HAASE
WHEREAS, On Sunday, October 26, 2014, Rio Rancho Police Officer Anthony Haase was killed in the line of duty;
WHEREAS, Officer Haase was responding to a domestic violence emergency call when he was fatally injured in a motor vehicle accident;
WHEREAS, Officer Haase grew up in Rio Rancho and attended Rio Rancho High School, where he played baseball, a game that was an important part of his life;
WHEREAS, Officer Haase chose to dedicate his life to public safety as a law enforcement officer, graduating from the police academy in May of 2014 before becoming an officer with the Rio Rancho Police Department;
WHEREAS, Officer Haase’s brother-in-law and father-in-law both have law enforcement backgrounds: Michael Hetes, an officer with the Rio Rancho Police Department, and Ron Hetes, an officer retired from the Albuquerque Police Department;
WHEREAS, Officer Haase is survived by his wife Nicole;
WHEREAS, Officer Haase was a devoted law enforcement professional, dedicated to the Rio Rancho Police Department and to the people of the City of Rio Rancho; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Susana Martinez, Governor of the State of New Mexico, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the Laws of the State of New Mexico, do hereby order that all flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, October 30, 2014, the day Officer Haase is laid to rest. The thoughts and prayers of the people of New Mexico go out to Officer Haase’s loved ones in gratitude for his service and in mourning for their loss.

The following story disturbed me greatly…..it is horrific, I was on my way yesterday to appear on “God Answers Prayer” on KCHF TV when Frank haley texted me that a Santa Fe County New Mexico shot and killed another Santa Fe County Deputy. I have been in the news biz dating back to my days at the Minnesota State News Network in the 70’s. I have never heard such a thing as an Officer killing an Officer. I had to wrap my head around this news, became sick to my stomach…..Here is the story FGGAM’s Paul Holt posted:

Our Dear, Dear friend Pastor Leonard Navarre was called to the home of the slain Deputy, Jeremy Smith to console Jeremy’s wife, Sarah. The Martin’s have three children and KOAT TV is reporting that a fourth child is on the way. I thank the Lord for people like Pastor Leonard, always on call, fireman for God.

We also pray for the Mike Harrington family in Windom, Minnesota. I knew Steve and his family very well growing up in Windom. He was born in 1953. I remember how he loved Motorcross racing! God Bless all the Harrington’s and a special hello and love to Mother Betty!

Please pray for Patsy P of El Paso. She has been hospitalized for over a week and diagnosed with lymphoma. She is between jobs and has no medical insurance. Initially doctors create a plan for treatment, but suddenly, they say they will discharge her and make an appointment for her with an oncologist for which there is a six month waiting list. I have been talking with her on the phone this morning and have assured her that God has a plan. I ask for prayer warriors to lift up Patsy P in prayer for God to fill her with hope in Him and to make a way where there seems to be no way for her healing. Thank you and God bless you!

WOW! My faith is growing everyday!
Sharon and I are growing together in our faith and it is a beautiful thing that a married couple and family can grow together in their faith AMEN! We are also becoming more bold in our faith! Amen!
Yesterday when I was on “God Answers Prayer” on KCHF TV 11, we are praying will will have the video up soon at FGGAM, anyhow I shared on the faith of Smith Wigglesworth. How he wanted people to see Jesus, not himself. he wanted God to BURN HIM UP, so people would see Jesus! Amen! I’m praying the same thing, despite my flesh, I want God to burn me up, so people can only see Jesus, AMEN! Wigglesworth had such faith that lives today in the books written about him!
I want to be Christ like, I want to have the faith of Wiggleswoth! Smith Wigglesworth was called the “Apostle of Faith” because he believed God unequivocally! Many today use the title “Apostle” freely and loosely, when it needs safeguarding. Amen!
Seeing the evidence of Wiggleswoth’s faith, I am moved to ask, “Is such a faith within my reach? Can I possess Wigglesworth type faith?
Wigglesworth aslso recognized that it is not the title you have, nor the gift you claim, but the manifestation of the power of God that counts (1 Cor. 1:31). The manifestation of the power of God was shown in his life through faith.
Wigglesworth did not arrive at his degree of faith in one leap. He reached it by a process of failure and success. Whoever you are, whatever situation you are in, however weak your faith is at this moment, your faith can grow!
Wigglesworth believed that God has no favorites. he believed all Christians have the potential to grow into strong faith.
A story that one of Wigglesworth’s Pastor friends tells is this…………
He had a Swiss friend who was a friend of his wife, her name was Martha.
In broken English, Martha said one day, “I was cross with Jesus because He had favorites and I told Him so. He asked me why I said that, and I told Him, “Because you let John lean on your bosom.” Do you know what Jesus said? He said, “Martha, all the disciples could have leaned on My bosom. Only John wanted to.”
Every believer can have enough faith for the fulfillment of God’s will in his or her life.
Faith that saves is a faith that works,Faith that achieves is a faith that acts.
It is exciting how God raises us up! I feel Him growing me and Sharon up further for His Glory alone! Amen!

This past weekend, we traveled to Andrews, Texas, to celebrate my Uncle HD’s 100th birthday. He turned 100 last week on October 21st.
Uncle HD was born on a family ranch outside Midland, Texas and first arrived in Andrews, Texas, in a covered wagon when he was three years old.
There was a replica of a covered wagon at the party to represent his arrival in Andrews 97 years ago.

The table centerpieces represented a various aspects of HD’s life over the span of a century.



HD is mentally sharp and shared stories with us as all 100 or so family and friends gathered around him in the fellowship hall of his church. He shared how he traded a $5 hat for a horse. As he shared, his daughter, Cherry would lean over and say, “Daddy, tell them about how you cooked beans.”
To which HD replied, “I’m getting to that.” And the room burst with laughter.

Uncle HD may tire more easily, but that doesn’t keep him from moving around. He keeps himself busy. He was even washing dishes on his birthday. He shares that his secret to longevity is hard work. He definitely keeps himself busy.

Over the years, Uncle HD worked in construction building schools and various Air Force bases during World War II. He was ineligible to serve in the military due to an eye injury. After completing construction of the military bases, he returned to Andrews and worked as a custodian at the school. Later he began working for an oil company as a roughneck. He held a myriad of positions in the oil industry before retiring in 1983.
Even though Uncle HD retired from working, he has always kept himself busy. At the party, HD handed out business cards to everyone that reads: No Plans, No Money, No Worries. It includes his name, address, and phone number, then concludes with — “Ain’t mad at nobody; Ain’t runnin’ for nothing; Available for fishin’, coffee drinkin’ and advice givin’ for 100 years — Oct. 21, 1914 – 2014.”
Uncle HD served many years in his local church congregation. He served as an elder for a number of years. He is a living walking testimony of Jesus.
Once church member shared with me, “HD is the papa of the church.”
Cherry Price Potter, his daughter said to those in attendance of the party, “If you follow in the steps of my daddy, you are following Christ. He lives out the Bible every day of his life.”
When Cherry said that, it reminded me of what Paul wrote to the Ephesians:

“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV).

I see Christ lived out in my Uncle as well. He is a godly example for us to follow.
Also, I was impressed by how many family members in attendance were over 80 years old. And they all moved about very well. This is a testament to me that God does desire to give us a great number of days – and healthy days.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103: 2, 5 NIV
I decided after witnessing the testimony of my Uncle HD that I will follow in his example as he follows Christ. What a wonderful testimony — all for God’s glory!

Though the celebration was priceless, it was dampened by the fact that HD’s 95-year old wife, Redah, was taken to the hospital just before the birthday celebration. She was transferred to a hospital in Odessa where she was diagnosed with emphesyma of the gallbladder and now at the time of this post is undergoing surgery to remove the gallbladder. This is a risky procedure, especially for her age. Prayer warriors, please pray for this procedure to be successful and for Uncle HD.

Please pray for Ted Peters in Windom, Minnesota. Ted is a dear friend, we worked together at the school as custodians. Ted is about 85 years old now, he lost his wife years ago and in the last two to three years he has lost both his daughters to cancer. Awhile after Ted’s wife passed away he had a women friend, and she to passed away. He does have a son in Tracy, Minnesota. Please hold Ted up in your prayers, it is a very lonely life. He does know Jesus Christ as his best friend, Amen!

Devastated to learn that my best friend from childhood (maid of honor at my wedding) lost her husband last night. Their home in Splendora burned to the ground and he did not make it out. Please pray for Robin and her grown children. She’s lost her husband, home, three dogs and all possessions. She and her elderly mom (who lives with her) had gone to visit her daughter/granddaughter in Cypress so they weren’t there when it happened. They drove back to Splendora the minute they got the call. I just got off the phone with her but couldn’t manage to say much except I’m so sorry and I love you. Let us be in prayer for the family! We pray for a miracle in the lives of the family members, a miracle of Godly provision, in Jesus name, Amen!
Smith Wigglesworth had such faith in God. His vital faith added power to his natural forthrightness, a boldness that can be called “Holy Boldness.” He so feared God that he feared no man. He had the fearlessness that God commanded Jeremiah to have in Jer. 1:8: “Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. And an “EZEKIEL FOREHEAD” Ezek. 3: 8-9. “But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are. I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house”
Some people interpreted Wigglesworth’s boldness as arrogance. However the truth is that behind a bold demeanor was a deep sense of humility that made him totally dependent on God. He carried a deep sense of his own inability apart from God.
I’m taking this from the latest book I am reading, “A Man Who Walked with God”
What God is showing me this morning is that many think they are walking with God, but too many are not, the are dating God, not committed to God.
Wigglesworth touched the lives of not thousands, but millions, he is touching more and more people everyday with what he left behind.
He was a simple man of God. He was not into personal possessions.
As in all things, he was very practical in following the commands of Scripture. he lived by faith in Christ. Yet by living by faith did not mean going around looking like a pauper, as some Pastor’s dress today while preaching. Wigglesworth felt that a Christian should honor the Lord in his appearance.
Her did not choose the cheapest way to travel because it was more physically draining, he knew he had to be fit for a demanding schedule. he said, “I’m not saving the Lord’s money; I’m saving the Lord’s servant.” But he was careful not to carry this to the extreme.
There was no pretense about Smith Wigglesworth. He was boldly straightforward because he wanted to strip away from the Church all that was a sham. His heart was set on revival and he knew that cleansing and obedience were vital to the manifestation of the presence and power of the Lord.

Just one other note: Wigglesworth was born in 1859 in Menston, a small Yorkshire village in England. Because he had to begin work in a woolen mill when he was just seven years old, Wiggleswoth had little formal education. He did not learn to read until he married Mary Jane Featherstone, whom he called “Polly.” They were married in 1882 and had five children. For years, she was the minister and he helped while building a successful plumbing business!

Pastors and their families live under incredible pressures. Their lives are played out in a fishbowl, with the entire congregation and community watching their every move. They are expected to have ideal families, to be perfect people, to always be available, to never be down and to have all the answers we need to keep our own lives stable and moving forward. Those are unrealistic expectations to place on anyone, yet most of us are disappointed when a pastor becomes overwhelmed, seems depressed, lets us down or completely burns out.
That’s why God has instructed us to recognize His servants.
“The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching” (1 Timothy 5:17).
